When I was growing up sometimes money was very tight for my family. My Mom would use eggs to wash my hair and rinse it with the apple cider vinegar. I always had clean and shiny hair. Watching this brought back those memories for me!
penelope just goes to show you all the pretty, expensive hair products are just for show👍🏻
aren't eggs more expensive than shampoo would be?
Bree Kawaii I guess it really depends on what kind of shampoo you buy but where I go to the store one bottle of shampoo is about 10-20 dollars, also most shampoos have ingredients that will hurt your hair over time so I usually look for ones without sulfates, silicons, and parabens for the best results. Those tend to be more expensive though. Feel free to let me know what kind of shampoo you buy if you think it’s really good and reasonably priced, I’m always looking for better brands🙂
@@brianna8009 I am from Wisconsin and the eggs came free from our chickens!
wow "poverty" is so relative. There are people out there that would kill to have those eggs as food but in America, people cannot buy shampoo so they use eggs. Very interesting.
just letting you guys know that coconut oil doesn't work on all hair types sometimes it can make your hair worse so make sure to search your hair type up before using it
Amanda Wright I cant find my hair type, all I know is I’m doing something wrong because it’s poofy, frizzy, and heavy😂😖
@@lindsayersek7048 Maybe try to google information about ''hairy porosity'' which can be very helpful to know and you could check out the curly girl method, a lot of people have very frizzy poofy hair and after a good hair routine realize it's because they had wavy hair :) Either way the hair porosity can help a lot!
kurochi chan thank you! I’m so grateful someone offered me advice, I’ve been looking everywhere.
@@lindsayersek7048 Ofcourse, I hope it can help! It took me long to figure out aswell but knowing I had low porosity hair helped me a lot, as it explained why heavy oils like coconut oil and olive oil were never great for my hair :) I would recommend the video on youtube by "Manes by Mell" aboit hair porosity, as she is a hair dresser who knows the more correct way of identifying it! And if you think you might have wavy hair I'd recommend checking out the Curly Girl reddit, but I personally don't follow the exact rules and it still helped my hair a lot. All I changed was to a CG approved shampoo (silicone free and harsh sulfates free) and conditioner, Manes by Mells has a lot of information about these things aswell :D For example the CG method recommends doing a co-wash now and then which is similar to washing with a conditioner, but my hair is low porosity and can't handle too much oil, and I also have scalp eczema so I just use a CG shampoo and conditioner and never co-wash, so if you want to try it out don't stress about following every step!
You could also try to figure out of your hair needs Protein or Moisture, as too little of either can cause breakage, but that's pretty hard to figure out so I think hair porosity would be a good start! Hope you can find what works
YES!! I just learned this the hard way😩
I just tried this mask. My hair has felt very brassy and heavy lately. I left it on for 20 minutes then rinsed as much as I could with warm water. When I went to use my shampoo it actually foamed up. I feel like my hair has not foamed in awhile. It was like the shampoo was doing nothing. After conditioning my hair felt so soft, silky and light. I look forward to adding this dyi hair mask into my life more often!
I have coarse dark hair and went platinum. This stuff works so well. It brought my waves back.
I added honey like you did in the vlog, olive oil and some argan oil. Made it more goopy so it was much easier to spread and not messy
My first time watching one of your videos. Your energy is beautiful and vibrant and has integrity of heart. Thx for info.
I need this I wash my hair every other day. I feel like I need to clean it out
Katiexobeauty Samee
This worked soooo well , would recommend, however it can be hard to fully wash out the smell of the acv x
Okay so I've curly hair and I went natural 2 months back .. ive had buildup problem for a couple of years.. this helped me a loooooooooot.. thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi. I have a lot of build up on hair and thought cutting could solve the problem but I was wrong.
I remembered that stripping could also help so I watched a lot of these videos. What I would like to know is, 'how often should I use this on my hair?, ' will the out come depends on the hair type?', 'can I apply heat when I cover with plastic?'
This is very helpful.
Great video as always Love you. I'm definitely going to check out the DIY hair mask for dandruff since that is what I deal with every day.
I just randomly came across your page after typing in how to get rid of hair residue. I've tried baking soda and heard that the other two were good, idk why I never thought to mix them together. Anyways I never comment on these youtube tube things but I wanted to say I loved how you were totally yourself in this. Your deff my type of person lol.
This mask is great. I have highlights and chlorine build up on them and this works awesome. I use a swim cap to keep it on instead of a bag. I just looked this up again since it was time for another clarifying for my hair. I totally just used my hands to put on.
Could you do a DIY mask to help split ends?
Split ends are dead there’s really no bringing them back other than cutting them off
Nice DIY, Jackie 😘😊
I tried this last night and it was amazing, my hair is Shiney and looks amazing again. Thank you so much 😘
I usually use yogurt and honey to purifying my hair from time to time . it works well and leaves my hair hydrating and shinny.. If the hair is colored, it may lightening its color a little.
my hair definitely had a smell of apple cider vinegar but definitely not nearly as strong as it is from the bottle , but oh my gosh it cleaned up the build up SO well!! there’s still stuff there but it got rid of 90% of it & i only used it once & left it on for 30 mins
I have always added baking soda to my regular shampoo then rinsed with Acv.
Doesn't the apple cider vinegar neutralize the ph value of the baking soda?
I'm doing this right now not a fan of the smell 😂 but I'm hoping it works! I've looked everywhere for something that will make my hair feel better
Hi! Did it help?
How much of each ingredient should we use?
Do we deep condition after ?
Simple will have to try it
that looked alot funner than the food one you did a awhile ago. I tried a coconut hair mask one time
but it, made my head itch. my hair was oh! So! Soft!
Wonder if this hair mask would work for curly hair 🤔🤔🤔 my hair low-key does not like coconut oil but I would like to try the mask with a different oil
Lotus Flower Life I have curly hair and coconut oil just makes it stringy I used extra virgin olive oil and it worked great
Depends on the Porosity of your hair like if you said that your hair doesn’t like coconut oil then it’s likely to be a low porosity hair so you have to know what porosity your hair has to choose the best ingredients for it.
Im using honey/olive oil ( my parents are extremely allergic to coconut) but I’ve always thought i had straight hair, except the ends would curl. But since I’ve been doing clarifying masks my hair is turning pretty curly. So maybe it’ll work for you🤷
amazing! thanks jackie cant wait to try it ❤❤
Omg this works so well I’ve never clerified my hair before and now that I have it gave me my natural blonde hair back but it is hard to wash of I used a coam to get rid of the hair mask while washing it
Will it work
can we use liquid coconut oil? can we put it on the scalp? isn't that where build up happens?
Is this ok for type 2 hair ?
Can I use baking powder? And not soda cuz I can’t find it no were
Do you have to use coconut oil I don’t have any at the moment
Melina Evangeline maybe use a different oil like vegetable oil or something
How many times a week can we do this?
Is that a senses fail shirt? 💗
this seams like it would be really drying to your hair.. when i use coconut oil it seems to make it more rough and dry.. especially with vinegar and baking soda.. if i use this should i also use a moisturizing mask afterwards to sorta counteract that?
Your hair might not like the coconut oil, different hair types aren’t good with it. Try olive oil or honey
Can you please make a vdo on diy hair mask for low porosity hair
what can you supplement the coconut oil for it sucks on my hair
Maybe olive oil will work. I haven’t tried it but it should work similarly 👍🏼
Can i use simple vinegar
the qualities of ACV are far superior and cannot be found in simple vinegar. the malic acid from apples helps to gently clarify your scalp without overdrying or stripping your hair. the best kind of ACV has the mother in it. it looks disgusting - has a white stringy floating thing in it but that's the best and purest kind. Bragg's sells it in most stores at a reasonable price.
why does it burn?
So I always was told that when baking soda and vinegar mix they neutralize each other. I was always told to rise with the vinegar for tha reason... what do you think?
Jacquie M. Our hair has naturally an acidic pH. Many people damage their hair/skin by using water with a basic pH. There are things you can do about it but the easiest thing is to just rinse your hair with vinegar.
Will this strip dye?
Unfortunately yes. But I just used a semi-permanent dye a few days after
white vinegar and baking soda is what i used to clean stuck on poop of my ferrets litter boxes, that mix will eat through most things xD
Can I use normal vinegar
You can, i used white vinegar since i didn't have any apple cider vinegar. It still has the same effect
What if u dont have apple cider vinger
I've heard that the hair shaft actually doesn't absorb coconut oil, is this true?
it's actually the opposite. coconut oil is one of the least processed oils and is best absorbed by hair. i've done some internet research on t his
Hair 100% does not absorb coconut oil. It temporarily smooths it, but, once rinsed, it slides off. I am licensed Esthetician & Cosmetologist.
is this bad for dyed hair?
You know I'm actually not sure about this. I would do a small strand test first just to make sure.
It can fade your hair color. Baking soda is powerful and can strip the dye from your hair.
Endlessy Blue thanks! good thing i didn't do it lol
Do y'all think this would help to get rid of a hair color (dyed)
I heard baking soda helps getting rid of hair colour, not sure tho cause I never tried it
Vitamin c powder can remove hair color from dye
Does this take out bleach?!
Gianna Shaffet when you bleach your hair what you’re doing is you’re lifting the color from the hair. So bleached hair is the absence of pigmentation, therefore you can’t just wash bleached hair in order to get your color back. You’re gonna have to dye it
She just laughed at herself telling us to put a trash can on our head then went ahead to tell viewers to put a bag on their head
U have to massage ur scalp
I don’t have coconut oil do I have to use it?
u can use extra virgin olive oil
@@isabellelopez9172 cool thanks
No measurements? Boo!
2nd Comment
You probably wouldn’t use a grocery bag, if you knew how gross it really was!
Just a little fyi ..
That's what I was thinking! lol Plastic wrap would be better or a headscarf.
Can you tell me why? I am curious lmao
