FYI This video has been referred to in the video Why It's Impossible To Start Playing World of Warcraft by Venruki (with an Asmongold reaction too) - the reference starts about 19-20mins in. I found the video super useful and clear, thanks!
New to arcane (and mage) this expansion and just wanted to say thanks for the extremely well put-together guide and also the M+ videos you put out. Been watching them and noticing a bunch of things I'm missing, slowly putting the pieces together. You have been by far the best source of info for improving that I've been able to find
I have seen this video probably 20 times, some parts more than that. It's frustrating I still cannot get it 100 % right. Good job doing it. Very clear.
This is by far the best helper for rotations out there. I was searching for a video like this, but all the guides just give a short explanation and then show game footage without the "last spell used" addon, so it is impossible to follow. Thanks for doing this video. Finally my arcane does the burst it was supposed to do!
Omg, what an amazing video! I have been searching all over YT for a guide like this to the arcane mage rotation. Thank you so much for putting it together the way you did. It seems like the rotation is so filled with tiny details that if something goes off script, the whole thing messes up. I have watched some of your other videos, and just now found this one. Definitely the best one out there!!
WOW This was a Great Video!!! As a Rogue main who dabbles on mage alt for fun, You really make me wish you made Rogue videos just like this as well! The Damage pattern graph was chefs kiss to a guide! Very impressed on a WoW guide, and I am not easily impressed. Best Ive seen for Dragonflight, by FAR!
Same here, great to have someone as good as phosphorus to do all the legwork trying out all the possible builds and coming to us with the golden build.
Thanks alot for your guide. With small training I am now able to pump ~27k overal on my 362 not optimized at all arc mage. I'm learning slowly and I'll probably improve as I re-study this guide and gear up a bit; but this is exactly what every player that dislikes being carried needs. Dropping you a sub, keep pumping my dude.

This makes my Frost Mage brain go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, but I'm sure with practice I will get the hang of it. Thank you for the clarity and explanations. I especially liked the 2 segments of St and MT casting on training dummies.
I feel the same way. Frost is so bad right now that I feel forced to play arcane. Im 391 with a 3 set and doing trash dps. Consistently barely above tanks on raid bosses
@@xlxdeboxlx3767 same reason I’m here man, I just couldn’t keep up with others of equivalent gear as Frost. It does feel really bad that my favorite spec in the game is borderline unviable, but I’m glad we have folks like Phosphoros to get us past the healers on the DPS meters 😂
I know in the past Arcane ws the 3 button wonder, arcane power, Arcane Blast, arcane barrage. But I knew there was always lil more nuance in there. But damn My head hurts looking at this rotation and priority system lol. I'll get it, but going to need some tylenol to get there lmao.
This is all I’ve been waiting for! I’d be lost without you! I tried a couple prepatch mythic+ but some things just weren’t clicking! Thanks so much! I can finally play my class again
So when you spellqueue Arcane Blast and Arcane Barrage together on the 4th stack of Radiant Spark, both spells will get the damage buff. The reason for this has to do with how Radiant Spark and Harmonic Echo buff spells. Radiant Spark buffs spells when you cast them, but Harmonic Echo only buffs spells when they land on your target. When you spellqueue Arcane Blast and Arcane Barrage together, both are cast at the same time and thus both benefit from Radiant Spark's bonus damage. However, due to Arcane Blast having no travel time it lands on your target first thus getting buffed by Harmonic Echo. In multitarget scenarios, it is more worth for Arcane Barrage to benefit from Harmonic Echo over Arcane Blast (due to Arcing Cleave + Resonance talents), so we remove the spellqueue outside of pure ST. Hope this clarified things, thank you for the support!
@@heathennation9448 instead of trying to memorize the order understand what each spell does so that way you will build up a healthy muscle memory, lets say even if you mess it up due to mechanics or misclick you will know how to back it up

Thanks for the guide! One question. For AoE/ST during AS and Mini Burn. What's the best way to go about missing part of or your whole AS window due to having to dodge a mechanic during a fight. Would you transition straight into filler? Or just proceed with the spell order rotation without AS? e.g. NT>AB>ToTM>etc
So the only time where you're "stuck" in place during the AS Burn is when you pop Arcane Surge (as this drops a Rune of Power). Anytime before that you can cast Shimmer to dodge mechanics and even PoM Arcane Blasts to sidestep if needed. Then once Surge is cast you'll most of the time have spells you can cast on the move (NT, Barrage, TotM, Clearcast Missiles, PoM AB if you have it available). If it's a very long period of movement where you can't cast anything then you're kinda screwed. Try your best to fit what you can into TotM but prioritize living over dealing damage and try to keep note to not pop CDs at that same point next pull.
This is exactly what I needed... I love my mage so much, but I felt so helpless with contribution in mythics when I played fire or frost due to what i felt is low dps. I made a last ditch effort last night and swapped to arcane. I loved it. That was not knowing the rotation or tips and tricks. This guide is very nicely laid out and I will be applying it after I get home today. Thank you!
Radiant Spark and Harmonic Echo apply their damage effects differently. Radiant Spark buffs spells you cast them and Harmonic Echo buffs spells when they hit your target. If you spellqueue Arcane Blast and Arcane Barrage together on the 3rd stack of Radiant Spark, both spells get cast at the same time and thus both benefit from the 3rd stack of Radiant Spark. We instead want to cast the blast first, have a very slight pause, then Barrage (so it gets buffed by the 4th stack).
Arcane mage in dragonflight is probably way too big brain for me. I feel like i'm drinking from a firehose with this rotation...but this video has put things together probably the most clear I've seen yet. It will take me a while to get this all and maximize my DPS but I'm up for a challenge. Thanks for the video!
I will most likely be using the craft to replace any low ilvl non-tier pieces I have after spamming M+ next week. If you want to craft something right on reset, Elemental Lariat is probably a decent pick since it's non-tier, can be upgraded, and can have 3 sockets.
It's important to start playing Arcane to really understand it. The tipping point for me was realising it's all about the touch of the magi. When that's up it means its up for a burn, either a full one, with Arcane Surge, or a mini one with 4x AB. Once I realised it was just filler in between that Arcane seemed much simpler. The hard part is making the best out of those burns which is hard in some encounters. Especially ones that push you out of your Rune of Power or rotations entirely. On Fire I couldnt maintain more than a sustained DPS of 35k at 385 ilvl on single target bosses. On Arcane I went as high as 65k, going as high as 120k if adds were around bosses during my burns and new gear just made it better. I miss fire being good though. Even with the recent buffs, its still not there yet. Thanks for the guide, its really helped!
Ok so i've been playing a slightly adjusted version of the Shadowlands Arcane Harmony rotation (implementing NT and AS) and it's been performing great so far actually, but now that i see your guide I realize i'm doing it all wrong. LOL. I've still been spamming AM and barraging during my filler... i'm so embarassed. Gotta say, this new rotation seems much more complicated... but... thank you for laying it out so well. I'll have to watch this over and over and practice for it to really sink in, but hope it pays off!
Biggest issue I'm having is pacing between packs. Probably has to do with it being M0 but the add dies well before TOTM explodes so I keep my powder dry more frequently than I should. Otherwise, so much fun!!
I'm finding mage in dragonflight the hardest to get my head around of any class I've played since vanilla:/ Is it just me? Maybe my brain is getting old... Great video though! It will help me a lot. I'll keep at it:)
Great vid extremly accurate rotation, nice work ! Although, with being used to Shadowlands spellqueing at 4 RS Stack, and practice over the past few days of DF : I find doing NTempest>TotM>AS>SpellQd Barrage at 4 RS Stacks deals way more, just because you get the double big pops 4 RS stacks for surge and barrage in the magi at the cost of one or two AB (and playing with talon, thoses AB are prolly debuffed so irrelevant) I did work on some custom sims but its a marginal difference
Still studying and practicing the rotation. It seems like arcane harmony is just not something we need to actively manage or worry about this time? And it seems like evocation is best used after the mini burn & before the AS burn? Much appreciated for the very well made guide again, made me realize what I have been doing wrong
Correct. Arcane Harmony is weaker than it's Shadowlands legendary iteration so now it's treated like a passive (unless you're in double bloodlust or you want to start banking damage for an important DPS phase). In Dragonflight the rotation focuses much more on alternating between Clearcast Missiles > 2x Blasts to abuse Nether Precision. And yep Evocation after the mini burn and before the AS Burn so you get the Siphon Storm buff for every AS. It lasts 30 seconds and takes ~5 seconds to cast so I like popping it when Surge has ~20 seconds left on CD.
5:33 you're damn right : Arcane is so SO S-O complicated man i can get just 1% of it how can one play this optimally without being a robot seriously Blizzard has gone really mad T_T, i m almost IRL crying right now. Totally amazing guide anyway mate.
Appreciate for every detail, At 7:54 -Just wondering on the single target dps video how you cast rune of power second time that much quick as it has 45 sec cd.
When talented into Rune of Power, Arcane Surge also drops a Rune when you complete the cast. So the first Rune is prepull then I drop another with Arcane Surge.
Thanks for this guide, everything was explained briefly and nicely! However I wonder when would be the best exact time to use Time-Breaching Talon as it is right now the BIS trinket. I guess right before the casting of AS in AS burn rotation? Or should I use it on the RS?
Phos wondering when we would build harmony stacks to a full 20 for AOE. I noticed in your continual Aoe burn you never hard casted Missiles to get more stack even prior to a Surge burst. Also my sims just go straight in Surge burns. Is the only use case for hard casting missiles for harmony stacks just at the end of dying packs?
Yep the AoE sims aren't prioritizing stacking Harmony at all, not even during double lust so we pretty much treat it like a passive. In M+ scenarios though it'll still be worth ending pulls with 20 stacks to prepare for the next burn. There are some use cases in Raid that can pop up as well for example if a priority target that needs to get burned down quick will be spawning or if the boss will take increased damage soon using Harmony to bank some damage for those windows will most likely be a gain.
Great guide! Love it, explains so much! But I have a question. Why did you not start the mini-burn at 14:03? Radiant Spark and Rune of Power were both up.
Awesome guide!! Will you be making one for frost or fire mage too? Would be awesome to see :) keep up the great work. You have the Best mage guides I’ve found on yt period
The worst one is with Nether Tempest proccing Arcane Echo. Each tick will consume Ice Floes so you pretty much can't Ice Floes during TotM. Theres some other ones aswell like Slipstream buffed Missiles still consume it, etc.
Great video, thanks for the tips! Need to ask though, at around 11:26 you say that the Arcane Barrage casts in that specific case shouldn't be spell queued. Why is this? Appreciate the explanations, tips, and video though. Thank you very much!
@@PhosphorosWoW Amazing how you caught this small implied consequence of spell-queueing Arcane Barrage. Thanks very much for the advice, and keep up the great work!
In mini burns always barrage at the end of TotM. In Arcane Surge burns only barrage at the end of TotM if your target is under 35% health (Arcane Bombardment execute).
@@PhosphorosWoW Thanks Phosphoros! Love your stuff. What kinda trinket do you think will be our BIS? And thoughts on double on-use trinket so we have at least one up for the surge burn? Phial of Static empowerment seems like our best phail.
@@Yojimbo808 These are the sims for trinkets and you can filter by target count. Generally Arcane likes double on use unless you have a trinket that can be used Surge.
This is awesome, thanks for the vid! Would you please explain why is there an arcane blast after TotM in the AoE roration? I've been thinking about it for at least half an hour now, checking talents, passives etc, but can't seem to understand. Thanks!
The Arcane Blasts in the AoE rotation are used to increase the Radiant Spark counter. We use an Arcane Blast instead of Arcane Explosion because the Harmonic Echo damage from Blast is greater.
quick question, in the aoe rotation after touchof the magi, youre already at 4 charges, why pop arcane blast and then arcane barrage? isnt it a waste or is there something i dont understand. outside of that great vid helped me understand the rotations very well.
The Arcane Blast is to increase the counter of Radiant Spark so we deal more damage with Barrage, and the reason it's an Arcane Blast there instead of an Arcane Explosion is because Blast will do more AoE damage inside spark through Harmonic Echo.
@@PhosphorosWoW after watching ur gameplay vids in m+ when should i use arcane barrage outside of when i can use it with touch of the magi? cause it looks like never since arcane blast does so much more damage
@@shn6a In single target you're pretty much never casting Barrage outside of Touch of the Magi unless you're running really low on mana or want to execute a target. In 3+ targets we barrage alot more during filler and you can find the priority list here: imgur.com/a/hFp68Sk
Couple of questions? 1) When should troll racial + time warp be cast? I assume immediately after the arcane orb on the pre-pull? 2) I kind of find it hard to believe that with double lust you are really supposed to sit there and hard cast 20 ticks of arcane missiles, even moreso if you didn’t manage to fish a clearcasting proc on prepull. You are wasting so much of the time warp and evocation buffs, and if you get no clearcasting procs the ROP might even run out before casting arcane surge. Plus it will be that much longer before these abilities come off cooldown again. Is it really worth it to do this?
1) As Troll racial only lasts 12 seconds the best time to pop it would be with TotM. 2) Yep the sims prove that when double lusting it's worth hardcasting the missiles to 20. Arcane already wastes a good chunk of the 40 second buff from double lust since you'll need to conserve and maintain ~85% mana for the upcoming mini burn, so those couple seconds of stacking to 20 aren't really wasted. Outside of double lust, as you said, it just takes way too long and is proven to not be worth.
This feels so complicated and so many conditions for when to do what. I tried the wowhead guide at first but was overwhelmed. My guild needs a mage and I don’t like playing underperforming specs, so naturally I look up arcane at first. Now I am in doubt if I should change main 😓
It will either be Funnel or Stacked Cleave. Funnel is more single target damage and less AoE and Stacked Cleave is less single target and more AoE. I'll probably default to Funnel for now but Stacked Cleave is also very viable.
you know one thing that is never really spoken about is "which mobs to target for your funnel?" Logically you would say either a priority mob or the one with the largest HP, but that goes for the whole group. So if everyone in the group has the same target there is a very good chance touch will go wasted in aoe fights
This is something I thought of myself too, thanks for bringing it up. My current thought on this (assuming you’re in a PUG where you can’t coordinate damage focuses) is that it depends on the relative health values of the mobs in the pull. So for example, let’s take the arcane bomb casters in AA. Since all mobs have close to equivalent health, you would start your burn phase on a mob that is _next to_ a high priority kick caster mob like the arcane casters, since they would naturally get more focus damage because of their overall danger to your group. Try and fulfill your funnel rotation in them, and if something is cast then you could tab target over if you need to Counterspell. Again for example in AA, the large Wurm mobs with the smaller mana wurms in their same group, you would just focus the largest one because the health value delta is so wide. What do you think? I feel this makes sense, but I haven’t tried it out in higher more dangerous keys
Thank you for the update, very helpful guide and comprehensible, one thing, wich of these builds are you suggesting for m+? Should we change between boss and packs the builds?
I would suggest the Funnel build for M+ as it's the most well rounded. Perhaps we see the Stacked Cleave build have its uses on Fortified weeks as it does do more AoE damage. Too early to tell but those 2 are decent options. As for swapping builds, I don't think that will be allowed once the key starts but if so I would say take Pure ST on Patchwerk bosses, Funnel for trash/bosses with adds, or Stacked Cleave for trash.
Yes funnel seems pretty descent for m + we'll see how it goes next week, thank you so much for the advice, again very nice guide, keep up the good work we arcane mages support you!!
Not too sure how the dungeons will favor each spec but Arcane is doing alot of damage right now, and it's priority burst damage is unmatched. If there are trash mobs that need to be focused down and killed quickly then Arcane will bring alot of value in addition to the utility it's gained from the general tree.
Just a question about nether tempest, does it consume/add to the radiat spark charge? Or is it some neat snapshot where it benefits from the damage amp without consuming the 4th charge?
Radiant Spark only benefits direct damage spells. Since Nether Tempest is a debuff that causes AoE damage it isn't considered direct damage so it won't consume/add to the Radiant Spark charge nor will it benefit from the damage amp. The value in Nether Tempest is that it will proc Arcane Echo a ton during Touch of the Magi.
Thank you so much for this AMAZING guide! One question that I may have misunderstood: when do I know if I'm supposed to be in AS Burn, Filler, or Mini-Burn phase?
It has to do with the level of target, number of arcane charges collected at that time, your mana level, what is your next expected target, your cool downs, and a few other variables. I hope you get an answer because this is a great question. It could honestly have its own video.
Your AS Burn is set in motion when you pop Evocation as this starts stacking your Siphon Storm buff. You want to make sure Radiant Spark, Arcane Surge, and Touch of the Magi are all off cooldown aswell. Mini burn is set in motion when you pop Rune of Power while Radiant Spark and Touch of the Magi are also off cooldown. It's recommended to start any of the 2 burns at 4 Arcane Charges. Filler phase is any time in between burns when you're waiting for CDs to come back off cooldown.
@@PhosphorosWoW Thanks, I appreciate your reply. I've done a few dungeons and it's very stressful trying to remember what I'm supposed to be doing as I run from mob to mob. I'm sure this will get easier with time, but as for right now, I can't help but always feel like I'm missing something unless it's single target.
One more question: I'm noticing that they increased the talent options to 2 for Improved Arcane Missiles. If I spec into both, I can't seem to get a solid build to reach Arcane Harmony. Would you recommend just going 1/2 in Improved Arcane Missiles to still reach Arcane Harmony?
@@RonMikeGabe Yep the only builds that use 2 points in Improved Missiles are the Gem builds (which don't take Harmony). If you're going Arcane Harmony you can lower Improved Missiles to 1/2.
Yep it's part of my Barrage TotM Travel Timer WeakAura which you can import from here: wago.io/lXIUMmkOc It makes the Kaching sound when you land Barrage inside TotM. Inside the WeakAura set you'll find a WeakAura called "Barrage Success". You can delete it if you don't want sound or select it and click "Conditions" and then change "Kaching" to another sound effect if you want to change it
Awesome guide! Struggling at lower keys though (~M+10 at the moment), with trash packs dying a bit too fast. Seems TOTM falls off before it does any of its damage, and often I'm even below the tank in DPS. What would be the quick trash pack rotation?
For lower keys it might be worth skipping the Radiant Spark ramp on trash and just going right into Arcane Surge > NT > Barrage > TotM or RoP > NT > Barrage > TotM for mini burns. My best tip would be just make sure you have Surge burn up for bosses because at least in lower keys you can get full value out of the CDs there.
Appreciate the guide bro! Is there any use for PoM in AOE scenarios? Feels bad just ignoring the ability but I don't see a gain from using it. Maybe just for if you get pushed out of arcane explosion distance for some reason?
You can use it for the last two Arcane Blasts in the Radiant Spark ramp in case you need to move. Outside of that there's not really much use since our AoE is instant/channeled while moving.
Yep so whenever you run the Temporal Warp talent (middle capstone on the general tree) it allows you to use Time Warp again while under the effect of Time Warp/Bloodlust/Drums/etc (This is called being Sated). If you use your Time Warp while Sated these effects stack, so it becomes very powerful to group them together. Furthermore, your Time Warp has a 5 minute cooldown which gets reduced with Shifting Power, so you can use Time Warp again ~4 minutes later even while your raid is still considered Sated. And one thing to note is that if you are the initial person popping Time Warp, Temporal Warp will not cause your Time Warp to go on cooldown so you'd want to double click it.
Hey I was just wondering you said to first cast arcane surge into nether tempest, but I've seen some people first do nether tempest into arcane surge. Do you do it so you are 100% sure you don't accidently mess up with the barrage right after or is there an actual dps increase in doing surge first?
I'm doing Surge into Tempest because that's the order the sims are considering to be the highest DPS. The fact that it also prevents spellqueuing Barrage after is just a bonus.
@@PhosphorosWoW Ah alright, cant argue with sims haha. Im guessing the same thing applies to Arcane Familiar then, because on paper it looks pretty shit imo.
I think Arcane will do very well especially in high M+. We have more utility than ever before from the general tree and right now our damage seems pretty good.
Sure! In AoE, it is more worth for Arcane Barrage to benefit from Harmonic Echo over Arcane Blast, so this is why we remove the spellqueue.
Both are still viable but most people are using Harmony since it provides more priority target damage. You could go Gem if you wanted to and it wouldn't be considered trolling though.
Quick question, I'm at the time 7:10 (Mini Burn for St) You mention Rop > RS > ABlast x4. Does this mean you start with 0 arcane charges, 4, or doesn't matter? I know its for the RS buff but I'm curious. Thank you very much for the guide. Truely. The 3 min in game gameplay of the rotations with no lust helped a lot.
Yep you want to try to start every burn with 4 charges to maximize damage on the Radiant Spark ramp. When not in lust 60-70% mana is enough for mini burn so you don't need to spend. You can just enter the mini burn as usual.
Can I just ask a silly question: which of the (main) Arcan spells do you have bound to which button? I am struggling ergonomically, to put the skills on buttons to not twist/knot my fingers.
Hi, I'm new to arcane mage and loving your content so far! I have a question about the aoe burns, is there a reason why you do 1/2 arcane blasts and barrage after totm? In a dynamic scenario, if you have clearcasting procs already, is it better to start using arcane missiles instead?
We do the 1/2 Arcane Blasts to increase the counter on Radiant Spark to 4. At the 4th stack we Barrage again and then you can dump clearcasts if you have them. Welcome to Arcane I hope the content helps! If you have any questions at all feel free to continue asking in the comments!
its pretty hard to fit those last two arcane blasts into radiant spark or 1 with surge burn, especially during dungeons or boss fights with lower haste. I see people going for higher haste and mastery stats now? is this from crit value dropping off with tier sets? Are we not really too concerned about reaching 4 stacks of radiant spark anymore?
Crit value is still pretty decent with tier set (4pc in particular). At the moment I'm simming best at ~32% Crit. My best recommendation for stats is to just sim as many combinations of your gear as possible and pick whatever Raidbots says is the highest DPS. Reaching 4 stacks of Radiant Spark is still imporant for maximizing DPS, so I'd say if you're having trouble with the Arcane Blasts on the burns you can use Presence of Mind there to ensure they go off instead of using it on the last second of TotM.
Noice guide. I have few questions. In surge burst why we are not using second AB? Because of one last instant AB with POM? If so what if POM needed for mobility? Also why we use second AB in surge burst during BL and again why not using it without BL? Also in mini burn, why we use second AB? I'm a huge Arcane Barrage fan, just wanna use it more :P
By abusing Nether Precision Arcane now gains more damage outside of cooldowns by staying at 4 Arcane Charges and alternating between Clearcasted Arcane Missiles and 2 Arcane Blasts. Because of this it's not worth Barraging and then having to cast 2 lower value Arcane Blasts to reach 4 Charges again. In real scenarios I don't think anyone would disagree with saving PoM for mobility. Ultimately that will probably yield you more DPS by allowing you to deal damage when you would otherwise not. In a case where you don't need the movement though, using PoM to fit one last Blast inside Touch is the best place to use it. We use the second Barrage in Surge burst during Bloodlust because due to so much haste we will need to conserve alot in order to maintain the 85% mana required for our upcoming mini burn. Therefore it's worth Barraging to reset our Arcane Charges and then we can use Ice Nova/Fire Blast/Frostbolt and Orb with Nether Tempest at 4 Arcane Charges to "buy time" until Mini Burn is ready. In Mini Burn we use the second Arcane Barrage inside Touch for mana conservation purposes as well. You'll most likely have to end up Barraging to conserve before Evocation comes back off cooldown so the sim sees it as a gain to put a Barrage inside the last GCD of Mini Burns.
@@PhosphorosWoW Thanks for the clarification. So do we use that second barrage during surge phase without POM and BL? or its still just better to save arcane charges? Finally one last question :P Do you think the tier sets would change the playstyle of the spec?
@@xenraken9715 During Surge without Bloodlust or PoM you'd just continue with the priority list until Surge wears off, cast Shifting Power, then go into filler. Outside of Bloodlust you'd only Barrage a second time if the target is in execute (you'd want to get that barrage to land right before TotM wears off). The cheat sheet covers how the rotation changes with/without Bloodlust and/or execute: imgur.com/a/hFp68Sk I don't think tier set will change the playstyle but if it does I'll post an update video.
Awesome video, great learning kit as I am new to mage, I'm am confused by a few things however. First I am unsure where i should throw mirror image in to the rotation without ruining the timing of everything else. Secondly, I've been trying to understand why sometimes my arcane blast takes huge chunks of mana and don't give arcane charges, can you elaborate if you have the time. Thanks!
When Raiding you can save Mirror Images for any time you need a damage reduction. In M+ you can pop it on Surge Burns either before or after Siphon Storm (anytime before you start the Radiant Spark ramp is fine).

Finally my arcane does the burst it was supposed to do!
the arcane mage rotation NEVER made sense to me until this video, thank you so much!
First arcane mage guide I've (kind of) understood, finally! Thank you, this absolutely slaps

I mained a mage from vanilla to cata, but havent played since until dragonflight. Thanks for this great video. And damn, things have changed A LOT!
Was waiting so hard for you and refused to see any other streamers bro, you are an arcane inspiration. thank youuuu
been playing Arcane for 10 years. i am always up for getting better. I like this video ..thanks for posting
*As long as we are in patch 10.0 I will keep everything in this comment up to date. If a new rotation is discovered or there are optimization made I will detail it here and also link a video if warranted.*

This was a very well put together explanation mate, well done
Why exactly shouldn't Arcane Barrage be spell queued in AoE scenarios? Dope video, incredibly well executed
Just and incredible and extensively detailed job, thank you very much, you are an Archmage indeed!

Really appreciate it, great job 💜
It seems clunky as hell after prepatch rotation but here we go. Thanks again man
Awesome guide thanks so much! now to practice each scenario and get it down consistently lol...
Thank you!
@11:25 you say Barrage should not be spell queued in AoE what's the reason for this?
Radiant Spark and Harmonic Echo apply their damage effects differently. Radiant Spark buffs spells you cast them and Harmonic Echo buffs spells when they hit your target. If you spellqueue Arcane Blast and Arcane Barrage together on the 3rd stack of Radiant Spark, both spells get cast at the same time and thus both benefit from the 3rd stack of Radiant Spark. We instead want to cast the blast first, have a very slight pause, then Barrage (so it gets buffed by the 4th stack).
@@PhosphorosWoW Ah awesome. Thanks for the clarification!
Arcane mage in dragonflight is probably way too big brain for me. I feel like i'm drinking from a firehose with this rotation...but this video has put things together probably the most clear I've seen yet. It will take me a while to get this all and maximize my DPS but I'm up for a challenge. Thanks for the video!
what will you be crafting for arcane? if you can give any insight that would be appreciated a bit lost on what to craft.
As always preem content good sir. I appreciate your time and effort! I especially love the rotation demonstration and different talent setups.

Great vid extremly accurate rotation, nice work ! Although, with being used to Shadowlands spellqueing at 4 RS Stack, and practice over the past few days of DF : I find doing NTempest>TotM>AS>SpellQd Barrage at 4 RS Stacks deals way more, just because you get the double big pops 4 RS stacks for surge and barrage in the magi at the cost of one or two AB (and playing with talon, thoses AB are prolly debuffed so irrelevant)
I did work on some custom sims but its a marginal difference

So its again possible to que up the arcane blast with arcane barrage on last stack of the buff from radiant Spark?
Yep but only during Lust and hitting 1 target
Thanks for this guide, everything was explained briefly and nicely!
However I wonder when would be the best exact time to use Time-Breaching Talon as it is right now the BIS trinket. I guess right before the casting of AS in AS burn rotation? Or should I use it on the RS?
I've been using it right before casting AS or if in lust right before casting Radiant Spark.
What is 1t and 3t+ on the cheat sheet? 1 target and 3+ targets?
Yep target counts

Great video, thanks for the tips! Need to ask though, at around 11:26 you say that the Arcane Barrage casts in that specific case shouldn't be spell queued. Why is this?

Radiant Spark buffs spells when you cast them, but Harmonic Echo only buffs spells when they land on your target.

In mini burns always barrage at the end of TotM.
In Arcane Surge burns only barrage at the end of TotM if your target is under 35% health (Arcane Bombardment execute).

Outside of double lust, as you said, it just takes way too long and is proven to not be worth.
one of the best guides for arcane I've seen so far. Great job!!! One question I have is why you can't spell que arcane barrage in the AOE surge phase?

When you spellqueue Arcane Blast and Arcane Barrage together, both are cast at the same time and thus both benefit from Radiant Spark's bonus damage. @11:25 you mentioned that arcane barrage should not be spell queued. Whats the reason behind that?

Now I am in doubt if I should change main 😓
Hey guys so the Funnel is the best for the Mythic Dungeons ?
Do you recommend using the gem build for M+ at all? Also do you know when the best time to use the gem is ?
i've waited, thanks
Which spec do u think we will use in m+?
If you're going Arcane Harmony you can lower Improved Missiles to 1/2.
it is an aura that makes that sounds 7:54 when you cast touch of the magi?
Yep it's part of my Barrage TotM Travel Timer WeakAura which you can import from here: wago.io/lXIUMmkOc
It makes the Kaching sound when you land Barrage inside TotM.

Great video! Could you please elaborate a bit more into how we use time warp to double bl? Much thanks!
@@PhosphorosWoW many thanks my man.

Hello! Can you explain why the arcane barrages are not supposed to be spell queue in the AoE burn rotation?
Sure!
In AoE, it is more worth for Arcane Barrage to benefit from Harmonic Echo over Arcane Blast, so this is why we remove the spellqueue.
Now that we're well into season 1, do you recommend the funnel or cleave build for M+?
Both are still viable but most people are using Harmony since it provides more priority target damage. You could go Gem if you wanted to and it wouldn't be considered trolling though.
Quick question, I'm at the time 7:10 (Mini Burn for St) You mention Rop > RS > ABlast x4. Does this mean you start with 0 arcane charges, 4, or doesn't matter? I know its for the RS buff but I'm curious. Thank you very much for the guide. Truely. The 3 min in game gameplay of the rotations with no lust helped a lot.
Also, if you have 60-70% mana at the start of the mini burn do you spend the charges you have to help with more mana, or is this expected?
@@dabeiest i was kind of wondering the same thing. scrolling thru comments to see if anyone else asked this lol
Yep you want to try to start every burn with 4 charges to maximize damage on the Radiant Spark ramp. When not in lust 60-70% mana is enough for mini burn so you don't need to spend. You can just enter the mini burn as usual.
at 3:56 how do we have 4 arcane charges? :D I only get 3, one for the blast and 2 for the orb
Siphon Storm talent causes Evocation to grant you one Arcane Charge
@@PhosphorosWoW Ahhh okay thanks 🙏
Yup, going hunter...thank you for the information.
@Phosphoros Do you offer coaching?
Can I just ask a silly question: which of the (main) Arcan spells do you have bound to which button? I am struggling ergonomically, to put the skills on buttons to not twist/knot my fingers.
Best guide but what is the stats prio?
Lot says crit versa but i see some mages goes for crit mastery
Do you have a build for leveling that would help with rotation at max lvl?
@@PhosphorosWoW Now I see, so it's to basically maximize the damage that barrage does. Thank you very much for the answer
its pretty hard to fit those last two arcane blasts into radiant spark or 1 with surge burn, especially during dungeons or boss fights with lower haste.
The cheat sheet covers how the rotation changes with/without Bloodlust and/or execute: imgur.com/a/hFp68Sk
I don't think tier set will change the playstyle but if it does I'll post an update video.
Really Strong vid! I dont get so much, but i guess ill learn it xD
So as a general rule for single target in regard to using Nether Tempest, it's only for Burn, Mini Burn, or when low on mana @ 4 arcane charges?
Correct
@@PhosphorosWoW Thanks!
