Question, what is the reason for picking Energized Familiar over Charged Orb? Is is mainly because we shouldn't be casting Arcane Orb unless we need charges or because of the mana we get from our Familiar?
Thanks for the feedback! I'll most likely be keeping it going forward since the reception has been so positive. Already have some ideas for how to make it look cleaner as well.
I think having the prio list and highlighting what you are doing and how it fits the prio list is a really nice addition to watching the demonstration of the rotation. Really nice guide!
Sounds stupid bit its so much easier to follow everything I saw another guide where the dude is just babling away and i can feel myself being not focused
Was looking all over the place for a proper video guide to arcane mage and couldn't find one. Happy I found this one since it's an absolute gem, other youtubers just ramble a bunch of rules and spellnames with little to no editing, do a rotation for a little bit and then finish the video off with "And it's that simple". Thank you for the thorough explanation and very clear editing
extremely helpful to have those highlights up next to the video. I still need to set the yt playback speed to 0.5 to be able to follow and understand exactly what is happening when, but this is for sure the best and most understandable arcane guide out there
When you think the guides can't become better, he is just gonna put the prio list next to the demo and makes your mind blow. fantastic guide once again. easily the goat.
Hands down the best arcane guide out there with no skipping what any of the abilities do, how they are combined, just beautiful to learn from this. Thank you for such information and I hope you will continue to provide us with such content for mage. Cheers.
This is by far the best arcane guide out there, actually takes time to explain it slowly and properly, I feel like i actually have an idea of wtf im doing on arcane now, so my wrists can take a rest from spamming icelance :)
Extremely brand new player dipping into WoW, and I couldn't for the life of me understand conceptually the idea of priority lists. I am so grateful that you spent time breaking down how each part interacted with each other and highlighted every priority you were going through during the demos. It made learning so much more intuitive! Would love for you to continue making guides like this :) If there's anything I'd like to ask for, it'd be having the .txt files or atleast a copy/paste in the description so I could study/memorize on my own time
Having the priority list up and highlighting as you move through the rotation is a great addition. There is so much context switching when you are first learning, but it also helps figure out the more nuanced details as your skills improve. Bottom Line - Outstanding! Thanks!
i just started playing wow maybe 2 1/2 months ago and this is the best guide I've encountered already doing so much more damage. definitely earned a subscribe from me
Cannot stress how helpful the highlighted section during the demo is. Other videos i end up having to take a screen cap of the authors notepad while watching the demo and you still have to try and dart your eyes to what they are doing in relation to the steps. This was very easy to follow along, great job.
Honestly i feel like you’ve done a much better job on this guide than the previous one, the way you explained and showed how BoP works before the rotation was brilliant for someone like me who has never played arcane, I think your highlight the priority list is a great idea too but very had to keep up with for such a fast spec, great video
In S4 of DF, I peaked at Rank 50 World for M+ Arcane Mage (not that a lot of competition was playing compared to S3!)... I like to believe I know Arcane (HOPEFULLY?!), and now especially SF! But man, I love watching your guide(s), now & previous xpac(s), from start to finish even I don't have takeaways at this point. It's great reassurance and always seeing the minor talent tree differences between each top mage is fun to play around with. I think the highlighting on the notepad of steps during live gameplay is the biggest innovation amongst all of the Arcane creators thus far! I hope to see [Heroic/Mythic(?)] POVs from the raid & dungeons! Happy Season 1, good luck, and thanks for the vids!
As a returning player your guide have been a blessing. THANK YOU!. Love how you explain essential stuff the player needs to know about like spell clipping, etc. Also love that you take your time explaining everything while the video shows what you are talking about. Even though its a lot it never feels overwhelming. You won me over. Congrats, keep up the good work.
I don't usually write on youtube, but just wanted to say this was the most goated breakdown I've seen. the whole showing the notepad with what is actually happening helped me check and fix a critical error I was making. So I really wanna thank you for the time and effort you've put into this.
This is an absolutely exceptional guide, man. The highlighting showing WHY you're casting WHAT when you are is outstandingly helpful. The only possible request I could make is maybe include a 15-20 second rundown of where the buffs you describe are on your specific UI. I use atrocityUI and I'm also a noob, so I had to spend some time identifying the different buffs in order to watch what buffs you are getting and when. But, honestly, that is also work that can be done by the viewer, as this isn't necessarily a *beginner's* guide. Thanks a ton for all the work you put into this.
Another goated guide for all of us struggling arcane mages out here 🔥 I'd do tricks on it for a weak aura that says "charges refillable" or something whenever one of the conditions for barrage is met instead of having to track BoP, GI and Intuition individually
best video so far in my opinion, and while the text guide next to the single target example wasn't super helpful to me in the current moment, I would have loved it if I had just picked up the spec and this would deff be the video I'd send to a friend if they were interested in learning. Thanks for the video, hopefully the devs are done making changes to this spec that affect gameplay every other week.
This is very clear, let's say thanks to this awesome arcane mage that every 3 days help us with better rotation covering every small change. Is a pleasure to follow u Phosphoros
Great breakdown and I really like the side-by-side where you have the text being highlighted as you are going through the rotation. As a new mage, the one thing I would like is if you could indicate the visual queue we are looking for when you get the procs; Burden of Power, Glorius Incandescence, Aether Attunement, etc.
Fucking amazing video. This is so informative and simply laid out. No extra ba, just exactly what we need. The only change I would think is maybe in a voice over explain what you’re doing in the rotation while it’s being highlighted (it’s easier than following along visually)
This is such a good guide. It makes it so much easier for me to pick up a new class this expansion especially as I'm returning again. This time I hope to stick around longer than half an expansion. I'm loving mage so far even though it is more complex than other DPS classes. Especially with your guide...so good! Thanks for taking the time to share this with the community!!
I saw the comments on the previous videos giving suggestions on how it would be more easier to clarify the rotation demo - and I'm really glad that you followed the priority list suggestion someone gave. Thank you for incorporating the feedback. Very clear video. Looking forward to your future content.
So reading the comments first, I was sceptical and had doubt that this was just going to be another generic guide but I’ve gotta say, the highlighting of each step during your demo was a really nice touch. Helped a lot seeing what step you’re on and why you’re doing it. Thank you!!
Amazing guide, thank you. I would love to see you do a voiceover comenting on what you are thinking/doing during a mythic+ dungeon, aproaching pulls. what to do while ur moving and tank is still pulling mobs, this kind of stuff, would help everyone learn a lot, just an idea. again, thanks for the great video
Great Video! I just want to make sure I got this, I want to barrage basically every Burden of Power with or without NP. In best case scenario we ill be able to spell queue barrage with a NP stack AND Burden or Power to get back into either blasting or consuming clear casting then back into blasting.
I’m someone who has always struggled with arcane and I’m forcing myself to learn it for this tier. I’m tired of behind behind because I like fire/frost. This guide is very well done. You did a very good job of breaking things down into easy to digest segments. You didn’t just quickly go through the rotation, as if you were talking to someone who has been playing the spec for years. Thank you
Great video, as someone who has never tried arcane yet it is still hard/fast to follow the demo, but that is probably much easier like you said after you try it and get a feel for it. If there was anything else I could offer to help someone like me, it might be to just handhold during the demo with pauses and say what exactly you are reacting to on your screen that tells you what your next action is going to be.
Great guide, really helped me understand what to do with my clearcasting procs which was something I struggled with after main swapping to mage. The suggestions for tracking W/A's is doing wonders for me too. Thanks a ton for this outstanding guide!
The list on the side is a nice addition but I also liked your last video where u talked while doing the rotation. I could go back over and over and have the words engraved in my slow brain.
Brother this was easily your best guide yet... and I've watched them all. Insanely useful and as I've said before you explain it better than anyone else can. Helps the viewers to UNDERSTAND WHY we are doing stuff instead of just blindly copying a rotation list. Amazing edit: My only question I'd have is what do you recommend for dealing with trash mobs in like dungeons? I often feel like I don't want to burn my big cooldowns for trash packs (like I want to save them for the boss), but then my only real source of AOE is the cleave from Barrage and the Attunement missiles. I end up burning all my charges and end up with slow cast time. Is it better to just keep running the full damage rotation constantly even if you don't have everything up for Boss spawns?
Hey sorry for the late reply, been getting alot of engagement lately and sometimes a few comments slip through! First of all, appreciate the support and kind words :D Second, Arcane is very much "suffering from success" at the moment where we just deal way too much damage for the difficulty of content available. Once M+ comes out and mobs survive long enough for us to pump all our damage into Touch it will feel alot better. Until then, it's advised to follow the Spellslinger rotation in AoE as Sunfury, since things die way too quick otherwise.
Well this is the first one that actually explained things clearly. I can play it now! lmao Other guides just tell you what to do, they don't tell you WHY to do them.
heya, thanks for everything, great guide you made there. however in my opinion during 3m gameplay your audio comments would be ideal (alongside with the written ones on right part of the screen like you had now).
This is always a spec ive gotten overwhelmed trying to learn for 2 xpacs now, always loved arcane and with Havoc dh being shit right now i told myself id finally play what i find to be the most fun/cool spec in the game. Your guide is the only guide in my eyes lol the only one that has allowed me to actually understand wtf is going on without people just shouting terms and ability names at me that i dont know about
Fantastic guide, thank you! You earned a subscriber :) I've come back to this a few times to make sure I'm executing the rotation correctly. Well done :)
Hi Phosphoros! Thanks for the detailed guide! I was a melee dps since wotlk and thanks to your arcane mage videos I tried out ranged dps the first time. I actually really like it
Took me a while to actually figure this out by watching you it’s complicated but understandable… use big GCDs on CD (fit in sequence tho) barrage when bar is full or when surge just dissipates I see little buff you spam on. I need to get the bar and probably the buff tracking weak aura. I was casting everything in wrong sequence in opener 😂 Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the guide. I like the Priority list next to it, maybe leave the upper right part open, so we can still track your buffs. Trying to understand the weak aura instantly, when you are used to your own might be slower than just looking at the buffs. Anyways, great job!
Found it very helpful to follow the notepad while you were doing your rotation. One question - Just trying to compare notes with wowhead for ST rotation barrage condition (yours being "You have any amount of NP.. and have burden of power" Compared to wowhead: "You are not casting Arcane Blast, have 2 Nether Precision stacks and any of Burden of Power, Glorious Incandescence or Intuition (tier)"
I do like the style with the text there going along with your ST DPS example, I love it actually!! It would be cool if your DPS meter was in the shot but not a big deal. Just wanted to let you know what I thought
Highly highly appreciated man!! That helps a LOT!! Thank you for all your good and hard Work!! Keep it Up, you deserve more subs :D I Just started playing arcane mage or mage in general, cause of your Videos! And i thrikin Love it! My DMG is insane, and i learn new things of every single Video! So thank you for that :D Sorry for my english, i come from Germany! Take Care
Awesome job with the step by step list alongside the demo! Quick question: what my brain struggles to understand is the 2.C priority: is it best to use ASAP the buff Burden of Power instead of just double diping?
Thank you so much for this, such a detailed guide. If I may have a few notes: 1) Some points in the priority list can be a bit confusing. For example at 2/c. I thought "have any amount" means anything from 0 to 2. I would suggest writing ">=1" or "at least one" for clarification. (At 26:27 it would be an Arcane Barrage instead of Missiles if 0 charges would be enough for it.) 2) At 25:15 you cast according to point 5, but point 4 would be the priority. Does point 4 only apply if you have 2 or more Arcane Charges? (In the video you have 1 AC, 2 NP and 2 Clearcasting) 3) According to the prio list at 26:05 you should have casted Barrage instead of Blast (2/b). I guess spellqueuing with Glorious Incandescence is better, so Burden of Power shouldn't be under that point.
I'm pretty new to arcane and a number of things confused me about it like why sometimes my arcane missiles would cleave. Your video helped me understand some things I'm going to try, including your weak auras to track these things. I'm most surprised that arcane explosion isn't used at all in the aoe rotation.

Been playing arcane since SL S2, glad to see it finally buffed :)
Thank you >>> dps from 46k to 171k (while leveling up) with this video and 10 minutes practice on a training dummy so happy☺ ☺
Incredibly helpful. Keep them coming!
damn good stuff! best video ive seen so far on it and i love the weakauras
bro your arcane guides are top notch!
yet again more phosphoros content to watch, love it!!
Decent guide ! Thanks alot the green marking of the spell is usefull.
Thanks for the detailed guide. Ironed out few rotation issues I am having !
Thanks for the guide. I like the Priority list next to it, maybe leave the upper right part open, so we can still track your buffs. Trying to understand the weak aura instantly, when you are used to your own might be slower than just looking at the buffs. Anyways, great job!
Love this. The prio highlights was very smart
Once again, love the videos. Thank you for keeping my dps meter healthy 😆
Perfect timing for me just coming back into the game since WOTLK 😅 great guide!
Found it very helpful to follow the notepad while you were doing your rotation. One question -
Just trying to compare notes with wowhead for ST rotation barrage condition (yours being "You have any amount of NP.. and have burden of power"
Compared to wowhead: "You are not casting Arcane Blast, have 2 Nether Precision stacks and any of Burden of Power, Glorious Incandescence or Intuition (tier)"
I do like the style with the text there going along with your ST DPS example, I love it actually!! It would be cool if your DPS meter was in the shot but not a big deal. Just wanted to let you know what I thought
Already waited for the updated one - thanks!
Bro thank you for this guide really appreciate the work you do on making these videos
Thank you so much Phospho, your guides are amazing as always
This was a very clear explanation, thanks!
Highly highly appreciated man!! That helps a LOT!! Thank you for all your good and hard Work!! Keep it Up, you deserve more subs :D
I Just started playing arcane mage or mage in general, cause of your Videos! And i thrikin Love it! My DMG is insane, and i learn new things of every single Video! So thank you for that :D
Sorry for my english, i come from Germany!
Take Care
Thank you so much for the kind words it means alot! Happy to hear you're inspired and the videos help!
Thank you I'm a new arcane mage this helped a lot
Criminally underrated mage content creator, how the fuck dont you have more subs?!?
I love the editing, amazing guide. Sadly, I still suck as mage
Most underrated guide ever.
Awesome job with the step by step list alongside the demo!
Quick question: what my brain struggles to understand is the 2.C priority: is it best to use ASAP the buff Burden of Power instead of just double diping?
Thank you so much for this, such a detailed guide. If I may have a few notes:
1) Some points in the priority list can be a bit confusing. For example at 2/c. I thought "have any amount" means anything from 0 to 2. I would suggest writing ">=1" or "at least one" for clarification. (At 26:27 it would be an Arcane Barrage instead of Missiles if 0 charges would be enough for it.)
2) At 25:15 you cast according to point 5, but point 4 would be the priority. Does point 4 only apply if you have 2 or more Arcane Charges? (In the video you have 1 AC, 2 NP and 2 Clearcasting)
3) According to the prio list at 26:05 you should have casted Barrage instead of Blast (2/b).
