    Impressive amount of research. Nothing like getting all the facts and specs on hand for an informed decision. I'm so surprised how much the BP-51s have gone up in price. I considered them 2yrs ago when I refreshed my 80 Series suspension, but decided against them due to price (plus I don't do hard wheeling - more a tourer and do not tow). I noticed you're getting fancy (ie. good) at your editing. Onya mate. 👍

      G'day mate, it's a bit hard to say without knowing what weight you'll be carrying etc... just make sure your front and rear springs are the correct spring rate for the weight of your rig. A 2 inch lift would probably suit you fine, you don't have to go crazy spending money if you don't want to. Even just OME nitro sport shocks are good in my opinion. There's some other good brands around. The best thing to do. Is find a good reputable suspension shop that knows what their doing and will set your rig up properly.

    Top stuff mate! I got my MT64’s fitted yesterday as a pre rego GVM upgrade of 3780kg 400kg parabolics with airbags in the rear. Gets registered next week sometime so haven’t driven it yet. Did you change the steering damper? If not that’ll make a huge difference to the wandering you talk about. Did you go airbags as well? Tomorrow the 9/6/24 ARB will release the MK2 Summit Bar for the new 70 Series, that’s the bar in waiting for 🤙🏻

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  Місяць тому +2

      Foam cell iron man's? I've ran them, the mt's have been bullet proof, I feel like perhaps they are valved a little stiff but with that comes control. They've been good.

    • @fishernick2447
      @fishernick2447 Місяць тому

      @ yeh Ironman, I watched “the tinkerers adventure “ vid on them and his take makes perfect sense. The BP51 are very popular but I feel that plastic shield is ridiculous. The Tinkerer convinced me that larger piston and twin tube are the way to go.

      @@OutbackOffroadNT cheers, the ARB parabolics which are new on the scene don't have that bottom load leaf like other brands, instead they use their own designed airbags, which are interesting as they have an internal progressive bump stop so can be run flat.

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  7 місяців тому

      Your bloody right mate I totally forgot about that, I did have a yarn to ARB about this setup, but because the air bags have to be run with the parabolics I wasn't really interested.

      @@OutbackOffroadNT yeah I get the concern with airbags. For you, is it more they could fail or that they may cause chassis issues? Or something else.

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  7 місяців тому +1

      Chassis issues mate, adding something that wasn't engineered to be there, in my boilermaker days I repaired a few telstra and power and water patrols running airbags with bent chassis. I also really like all things to be as simple as possible, and airbags can be a suspension limiter in regards to movement/flex. I'm a big believer of getting your spring rates bang on for the weight your carrying and not relying on pumping up air bags to counter heavy weight. I understand everyone is different though and may tow etc...

    Enjoy your vids. I'm trying to decide between the MT64 & BP51s. Dont mind spending the extra $1200 if they're worth it. What do you think now having had both? Is it a big advantage being able to get the rebound & compression just right? I'll be towing a snall van with a 79 single cab.

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks mate, look tbh I can't really say as I've only had these MT64'S on for bugger all, I don't want to give you wrong info. What sort of driving and terrain will you be driving? The BP's are great but not entirely necessary imo.

      @@OutbackOffroadNT thks, we do a fair bit of off-road & corrugations etc but we don't hammer down the tracks as we tow a single axle offroader.

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  7 місяців тому

      Right well, you would definitely benefit from either the BP'S or the MT's purely because they are big robust shocks with plenty of oil to combat heat and shock fade on rough stuff, eg corrugations. Just get those spring rates spot on for your weight and make sure your running the correct shocks with the right valving to match the springs. I'd honestly say it's really up to you and which shock you prefer mate. Maybe the BP'S would be of benefit to you travelling slower on rough stuff the ability to fine tune the compression and rebound would be great.

    • @FRBD40
      @FRBD40 7 місяців тому

      @@OutbackOffroadNT thks again, if I go the MT64s will the valving be adjusted by ARB to suit the springs, or is that only possible with the BP51s?

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  7 місяців тому +1

      Generally the shocks will be matched to the spring rates, so say you ask for 600kg constant leaf packs and front coils to suit the weight of a bar, the correct shocks will be fitted with the springs

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  6 місяців тому +1

      Going with at least 3 inch is usually the go, however, yes you can get away with a 2 inch lift, you may need to modify a couple things to clear tyres properly depending on what bullbar you are running for example.
