HIGH HEAT, HIGH SPEED, HOLY GAME CHANGER!!! Today was the first day in my THREE years on curly hair journey that it has dried in less than 3 hours! It took 15 MINUTES! I can have a life again not to mention it looks so good for a wash day. That NEVER happens. Day 2 is always my good day because it's dry by then. THANK YOU!!!
Only takes me 8 minutes with a short hairstyle. Life changing as before I'd have wet hair for about 4 hours and feel grim the whole time. Only just discovered hairdryers lol.

My Biracial daughter has the same hair type. I wash at night, dab a little coconut oil through it and put her hair in a braided top knot. She sleeps on a satin pillowcase. The next morning I take down the top knot and shake out the curls to perfection

Thank you!!!! I have super long wavy/curly hair that I am trying to do a better job taking care of. I knew diffusing was better than blow drying because I end up with frizz for days. But I knew I had to be doing something wrong because I accidentally sucked my long hair into the back end of my dryer and caused a massive painful tangly mess 😑 I appreciate you and the explanation for why you are doing what you’re doing! I definitely did stick my hands in my hair while diffusing and probably took off so much of the product I put in. I will add some gel or another styling product to protect the pattern of the curl more while drying next time instead of just curl creams.

I air dry for about 45 minutes to an hour with hair clips placed in various places to help with volume. Then, I diffuse almost the same way you do, except I start on cold to “set” my hair a little. I never go to high heat, occasionally I will go to medium, but not for long; I mostly stay on cold and low heat. I only use low speed as well; I have very fine hair and high speed causes too much frizz for me. I hover to start, but then I place the diffuser on my roots, while changing positions fairly often. Then, like you, once my hair is mostly dry, I use my hand to break up the cast. I’m so thankful for the inventor of diffusers😂

Where's the button to give you two thumbs up! I love the part about the Heat and its myth. As long as you don't touch your hair and keep your heat at a distance like you did I don't feel like it would cause damage.
Thanks for the support Sherry :) Exactly!! This technique is great for managing heat damage as it's really low manipulation and you aren't holding the diffuser at your ends for a large period of time !

Doesn't the heat damage your hair? Is the heat from the dryer different than for example from streightener?
Using heat does not always equate to heat damage. It depends on when and how you use the heat.
Had to watch this immediately after trying to diffuse for the first time (it’s too cold here to go outside with wet hair). I did literally everything wrong and now my hair is a frizzy angry mess. Thank you for showing me the way lmao hopefully I’ll get it right next time.

My curls look a little better, definitely less hard to the touch, softer and bouncier. I only have frizz in my ends now, but they're hella damaged so i guess that's normal.

Should you part your hair when styling and before difussing or should you diffuse it all over and then create the part later? I feel like my part can be prohibiting my hair from getting the most volume and moveability

Hi Mell! Love your video's! I have a problem and I don't know what to do. If I apply my deep conditioner, my leave-in conditioner and my styling product, I hear the squish (so I squish to condish) BUT when I diffuse it, my hair do not get that hard cast everyone is talking about. Is it that I use too little or too much product? I have thick hair though...

-Hover over root area, don’t touch the curls to speed up the air dry process.
-Put the diffuser on your roots a little once it starts drying to give more volume
-Don’t dry your hair upside down the entire time. Switch it up!
-Don’t touch your hair while you’re drying to prevent frizz.
-Once you feel a cast start crunching and fluff out curls
