As a black women, I would always look at white women with “straight” hair and I can see the potential waves. Time for white women to experience the natural hair journey. Edit: I didn’t know my comment would resonate with so many people and it makes me so happy!
Donye Keesee i always had curly/wavy hair as a kid and I thought my hair just changed and I ended up with thick, dry and course hair. Oooh little did I know I was ruining my hair with all that bleach and heat. Just started this journey. So excited!!!
yesss my hair has beautiful curl/waves when it's short (shoulder length), but as it gets longer, it straightens out from the weight and age of the its ends. i've learned to keep it oiled, use product (mousse works really well), and let it dry in a loosely tied scarf. it looks so alive these days
I finally embraced mine a year ago and it honestly changes my relation with my hair so much. I love it now and see that it was my fault that I didn't before, I wasted so many years mistreating it. Now we are a team and I get a lot of compliments, especially from people who have known me for many years and see how my hair has changed - saw my cousin again recently after a long time, she asked me if I had curled my hair. She couldn't believe this was just my same natural hair but treated right.
Can I just say I truly appreciate the fact that you don't "shade" wavy or loose curls, ever. There are so many people that discredit looser curls and just make it seem less than. They'll say "I'm having a bad hair day, it's just wavy not curly" .... looser curls get this negative connotation associated with it but you, a curly queen, doesn't ever shade any type of hair. Ever. It doesn't go unnoticed how much thought and research you put into your videos. Thank you for including all curl types 💛
Christina Vargas but a lot of people don't get to pick between straight and curly therefore they are stuck with what they got but all these girls gotta do is wake up and wash it for it to be straight and if your hair can be straight and "curly" then it's not curly it's wavy also on another note some of the product they use are MADE for black women not for white peoples "curls" and it's sad because I see that privilege I can go to any store and get shampoo and conditioner for a white person but it is so hard to find good products for black. People
just bc the ppl who say it’s just wavy not curly say that, doesn’t mean that it’s discrediting anything. that’s just your own (and whoever else feels that way) personal insecurities because people are allowed to have a preference without having to feel bad about it or obligated to please you (or others) by saying what you want to hear. sad truth you’ll have to accept in life. it’s like saying “ugh, my skin is bumpy and not smooth”. societal standards made smooth skin better (you can have bad skin from genetics and not bc of underlying issues so who’s to say it’s worse than smooth skin?) but saying that doesn’t discredit ppl with acne. but it probably bothers them. like hearing people gush over curls and not waves bothers you.
@@amoryhasafford7585 those products were made for people with curly hair not just for black people. I'm not black I'm puerto rican with really curly hair, and Cantu is personally the best product I have used for my hair. No where on the bottle does it say "for black people" its says curl cream. Mel (the one with the blonde tight curls) isn't black. Shes almost full Italian. Are you saying shes not allowed to use these products because shes not black even though she has super tight curls.
Omg it can be like Straight hair = straight (duh) Wavy hair = Bisexual / Pansexual Curly hair = Gay / Lesbian Kinky/coily hair = ??? Help me with the last one🙏
Wait me too. I got it done around 6th grade and my hair stayed wavy after that. I assume it naturally changed around puberty and I had no idea because of the perm.
in hispanic culture/society, people often think there's such thing as "frizzy" textured hair. nope, that's just curly/wavy/kinky hair you have no idea how to handle
same with India!! North Indians tend to be whiter with straight glossy hair and South Indians who tend to be more ethnic are just told to brush our curls out and have no idea how to deal with it :(
@@popi5476 with Indonesia too!! I hate seeing people with CLEARLY curly/wavy hair uses sulfate shampoo and no conditioner and then proceeds to complain about how frizzy their hair🤦
Yeaahh I live in Venezuela and every single girl that can't "tame" their texture goes through a keratin straightening treatment in their teens and it becomes a monthly thing for _years_ , I have 2c/3a hair and when I was around 13/14 years old I thought that only straight hair was nice and I did a straightening treatment. I'm 18 now and I've been transitioning for over a year and I'm getting there but it's been a hard year of people asking me "why don't you brush your hair? Your hair is a mess" or when I finally got some ringlets back people started touching them or running their hands through because 'it was sticking up' or "it looks frizzy, you forgot to brush it" or "you should do a keratin treatment". People here think that you either have straight hair or super curly hair (like a 3b to 3c or type 4) and loose curls don't exist, so you have to get rid of them with chemicals so that you look 'presentable'
@@martacastillo6272 That's really interesting! When I was in elementary school, I had such little knowledge and such horrible preconceptions of textured hair, that when it started to change in puberty, i thought my hair was going to come out kinky. At the time I hated kinky hair, but it was only because whenever I saw the peer black girl's hair, it was always overly processed with a relaxer, or their scalps were raw from braids, or they had excessive dandruff, etc. This meant that my only experience with kinky hair were horrible examples(my town and school were predominantly white also). At around 10, my hair started to change from puberty, and I literally thought that my hair was going to come out like theirs (even though the probability of that was impossible from my heritage and race) and I was so angry. My mother didn't like it either, so she had it chemically processed hair for about 4 years, until I got so tired of the roller sets and unmanageability, that I started doing my research of what to do with it. When I say my mind was opened, I'm saying I was completely blown away by the beauty of kinky and curly hair. I started transitioning, not caring what my hair would look like, and my hair wasnt even close to type 4 hair, it was 3b, showing the extent of my misconceptions I prevously had about hair in general. When I was transitioning, it was difficult to style because of the roots, and the women in my family would never give me support. My mother wouldn't buy me products to see what works, she would urge me to relax it, etc. but guess who has amazing hair now :)
I have wavy hair but it always seems to be flat in the ends but more wavy on the top it’s so hard to figure out what to use and a lot of people don’t do videos on wavy hair 😕
2:36- Shower products used 2:58- Prep products (heat sprays) 3:49- Style Products (brush creams through hair) 5:18- Spray water on hair to keep it wet, keeps curl active 6:20- Flip hair upside down, spray water at roots 7:05- Brush out in clumps, twist stragglies 7:30- Scrunch wet clumps up 8:29- Gel products (grazing) 9:35- Plop 11:46- Diffuse
Ok I want a 30 day update with their hairs!!!! This is how my hair started and my hair is significantly a tighter curl now. It takes time to find your way to do your hair but it’s worth it!
Aggie Orozco what kind of products do you use I have wavy hair but I’ve always treated it like straight hair because I didn’t know what to use but I want to bring out my waves
Sam Hamel I’d like to know aswell. If it works I’d commit these products but I wanna see if a routine like this actually works for me before getting all the expensive stuff
SERIOUSLY, like I just graduated high school... I could of spent all that time with pretty wavy hair instead of trying to comb it down every time I saw it in mirror thinking my hair was uncontrollable frizz !!
Please do a part 2 where we see what their hair looks like after a proper curly cut and after a few cycles of a curly routine. Thumbs up if you agree so Mell can see!
this is the most realistic “didn’t know” curl video i’ve seen, my hair looks like theirs and after watching this i feel so much more motivated to learn about my waves
I've been on a natural journey for over a year. My natural curls used to look like Mel's beautiful corkscrew with lots of volume. I followed the curly girl method for a year then decided to incorporate other products I used when my curls used to flourish. I'm starting to see my defines corkscrews in the front and nape of my neck and looser curls everywhere else. I deep contrition once a week but my hair still feels dry and most of my curls look like a letter S. I ended up cutting my hair thinking it was damage and I see some improvement but not much. Any suggestions?
Christina Vescio have you tried watching Mell’s finger coiling video? It could also have something to do with genetics or age, when I was in high school my curls were tighter now they are looser. My hair got thicker after I had kids.
@@aimeemendoza2578 Thank you. Yes I saw that video I also used to finger coil all the time. Now some just won't coil. I did just have a baby, I also have to take an iron supplements. I don't want to say it's age just yet because 2 years ago my hair was all coily and full. I wasn't following the CG method then either. I dyed my hair and flat ironed it I also moved states. It's colder here now where I live all this I believe contributed to my change. I guess time will tell.
I never knew that people with my hair type were supposed to have specific hair care routines until I started working at a residential facility. A few of the girls there with really curly hair had to explain to me that I need to take care of my hair too and they helped me pick out products. My hair literally has never looked better.
I have wavy hair but I never knew I needed a routine for it until a video popped up on it and since then I've ben watching them and trying routines but my hair was frizzy so I asked my friend with curly hair and she said I have straight hair and now idk what to do😭
Today my brother told me that my 2b wavy hair is "fake" beacuse if I didn't scrunch it and plop it my hair would be straight. I get same comments from other girls in school. Some people can be so rude, but I ignore them and I keep loving my waves.😆♡
Don’t listen to people like that I got it worse they thought it was a weave because someone of my “skin color” cannot have 3c curly hair👩🏻🦱(I’m mixed btw but light skinned)
Wavy Hair Steps 1 - wash hair (Fanola Restructuring Shampoo and Mask) 2 - put in a light weight oil (Bumble & Bumble Invisble Oil Spray or Fanola 10 in 1 Spray) 3 - put in styling cream from mids to ends (Brigeo curl charisma creme or Cantu moisturizing curl creme) 4 - brush products through 5 - wet hair 6 - flip hair over 7 - brush hair upside down & clump hair into sections 8 - scrunch hair & finger foil any sections that are off 9 - set curls with gel (Brigeo Curl Charisma Gel or Ouidad Advanced Anti-frizz Gel) 10 - plop (scrunch hair in towel) and set for 10 mins 11 - dry hair with a diffuser (hover dry roots & scrunch dry ends for max curl)
When I first started my mom didn’t believe that my hair was anything other than straight because it looked straight wet. Where was this video thennnn!!! Love this!
Clau Panquecito I think it’s cuz the water weighs it down so obviously you aren’t going to see your natural hair texture when it’s wet.. you gotta wait till it’s dry... :)
When I don’t brush my hair after showering I definitely see wavy hair. People were always confused w my hair because some days my hair would be wavy or straight. I’m going to try to take care of my hair now, this video motivated me and inspired me. Thank you guys :,)♥️♥️
Mell just changed my hairs LIFE with this video. I don’t think I would’ve worn my hair down again without straightening it if I hadn’t found this because I was so sick of my frizzy hair that didn’t dry straight but didn’t dry into “nice” waves either. I’ve literally had my hair in a bun this whole pandemic. I just tried this method for the first time and the result is nice ass beachy waves and no frizz. You have unlocked my hair’s potential, bless ya heart!
I was only led to the curl community when I heard the sentence "where there is frizz there are curls" Spread this sentence and I think a lot of people will realize their true hair texture
I have “straight frizzy hair” and I got some of the products mentioned in this video today! My mom has a lot of natural curl in her hair so I’m hoping I do too! Wish me luck!
no because both of my parents have super curly hair but also super fine/thin so mine is very thin as well so its flat but like frizzy? and when its wet its wavy :(
In high school I didn't know what my curly hair texture was because my mom didn't know how to do my hair and it was always straightened every month. I'm surprised it never got damaged. I went through the struggle trying to learn how to do my hair curly and what products to use.
I think you all might have to charge me for a therapy session if I start getting into the struggle to find acceptance with my mother, who wanted so badly for my hair to be straighter.
At one point I was given a boys haircut because my hair was extremely curly and frizzy because my parents constantly dry brushed it and always told me to wash my hair again, it didnt look "clean" I was very unhappy with my hair back then 😅
I overthink a lot and I would always think maybe I’m just faking my waves because my hair is barely wavy when wet but this video really confirmed that indeed my hair is wavy. Also my mom would say things like: adding product/ scrunching it gives me waves, my hair is really just straight and she hates my wavy hair :/
@Ranica James not always. If your individual hairs are very fine with a tight cuticle they can hang straighter when wet due to the weight. My hair is decidedly curly when dry, but looks more wavy when wet… and that's with NO holding products, no scrunching, just my hair doing what it does naturally. 🙂
I have very straight hair, no frizz, no matter if I brush my hair or not, let air dry, blow dry, put products in or not. I tried several of these scrunching routines, because I thought maybe I can get waves that way. The result is always the same: frizz and my hair looks like the left girls before-picture. If your hair after scrunching looks anything like their hair after scrunching, then, yes, you definitely have waves already in your hair.
When I tell you I have watched TOO MANY videos on waves/curls and this is the first one that I felt actually got me feeling confident in working my wave!
How can I be adopted into the family and become a cousin?! :) Also, as a wavy girl following this channel -- would love to see more wavy videos (and the wavy hair cut video!)
This was so much fun to film!!! This opened my eyes to my curly hair journey that I never knew I had. I really recommend watching this video and sharing it with anyone who has curly hair!!!
Same.. my hair is like a bloody plank.. i currently have a pixie cut but i’ve also had long hair.. i’ve watched video’s of japanese straight perms before.. my hair is basically like that without the perm 😂😂 as i’ve had long hair with bangs before that looked like it had been made that way by a japanese expensive ass barber.. but no.. it was just me airdrying my hair

You just changed my life omg. I stumbled on this video looking for videos on what to do with my daughter’s hair which is very obviously curly. I was like, wait could it be? Nah... But out of curiosity I bought some curl cream and busted out the diffuser from the back of the drawer and holy 💩 my hair is wavy. I’m still processing. Y’all I’m almost 40 and had zero clue my hair is not just kind of frizzy.
Until I was in my 50s my hair was straight as a board, couldn’t hold a perm or curl at all. Then it started to change and developed the most beautiful waves. My hair finally has body and I’ve totally embraced it.
ok but also some of y’all do in fact just have straight hair do not walk around with a head full of grease trying 2 convince urself it’s wavy take it from me
Hello Mell and Amanda, I'm coming back 2 years later after watching this video (took me so long to find it again haha). This video is absolutely a GAME CHANGER for me and my bestie. We both had "frizzy" hair and tried millions of ways to get it smooth/ straight. Each time we went to a salone, we were always told that our hair was super frizzy and difficult and the hair dresser would always recommend us to get it straightened (I guess natural wavy/ curly hair is not that common in Asian people so probably the hair dressers themselves hadn't dealt with that many wavy girls before). But thanks to you, now we are celebrating our wavy hair. We found our natural wavy hair compliments our features way better than chemically straightened hair! XOXO
I was trying cgm and was about to quit because I was so frustrated. This is the most straight forward and detailed tutorial for wavies that I've seen. Thank you so much!!!!
i found at 25 that my hair was curly (something like Amanda hair) and all this years i thought that i have bad hair day every day... after i found out that im curly and i embraced it people from my past were shocked and in the start didn't believed that its my natural hair
wow this makes me feel better about my hair! my hair looks exactly like theirs before and after the added products. i always felt like i was just convincing myself that i have wavy hair after adding products, but this video shows me i just have a different wave type. i knew my frizzy hair meant something more was going on!!
i just tried properly scrunching my wet hair and plopping it without using any product or diffusing it (bc i’m currently on vacation and don’t have anything at hand) and the results were already astonishing this morning 😮 now i’m definitely convinced i have wavy hair. Can’t wait to try more of ur routine!
I’ve always known I had natural waves, but with my mom and seesters all having pin straight locks I never knew a single thing about making them look good and not frizzy. It really hurt how often girls in middle school would bring irons to school to straighten my hair for me. I found your channel a few weeks ago and after 23 years of mistreatment, my curls are finally starting to shine through. Thank you so much for everything you do, Mell!
4:15 I love the confidence Amanda vs Mell Curly Enthusiast vs Professional Stylist Who won u asked? Let us put it this way both Amber and Tiffany look as though they just stepped out of a salon. I know the focus of this video is wavy hair. But I feel so proud of Amanda because she is one of us. Not professionally trained but trying to embrace her curly journey. And the fact that she was able to successfully style and help someone else feels like a big curly achievement. And Mell when I saw how u celebrated at the end made me smile. I could tell seeing how well she did Tiffany's hair really meant a lot to you.
I feel so excited for this next chapter of my life! I never felt I fell into the straight hair category, but felt silly saying it was any sort of wavy. I feel so encouraged. Thank you ladies!
I'm definitely trying this on my daughter's hair. I have noticed she has a wave in her hair as well. I have the straightest hair you have ever seen, but my husband has waves, so that's where my daughter got them from 🥰 Thanks for the tips here! I'll let you know how it goes!!
for me as a wavy hair-girl who always thought she had bunch of frizzes on her head and hated her hair, I find these routines not so appealing still, it takes so much time and energy. So I came up with something simpler, where my hair looks tamed but does not take as much time. use sulphate-free shampoo use silicone-free conditioner when you are out of shower put some lubricant (or alcohol-free gel) on your palm, rub your hands and carefully distribute it on your hair by scrunching it inside on both sides. Scrunch up microfiber towel on your hair same way to dry it a little bit and let it air-dry. That's it
When I was a kid, my hair was straight, shiny and soft. Then when I was a teenager it became extremely frizzy, tangled and dry, I hated it. I had normal looking straight hairs, but then there were extremely thick hairs that were twisted like a wire/dna. Anything I put it would literally leave a dent in it. Like hair ties , pins or braids would leave their shape in it. It looked terrible. If I let it dry without brushing it, it would be wavy. And now I am an adult, I started drinking a lot of water, using more expensive shampoo, argan oil, no heat, and henna and my hair is barely frizzy anymore. Like it's a bit poofy after I wash it, but by the next day it becomes soft and silky. And whatever I put in it, braids, ties or pins, they don't leave their shape in it anymore. So now I am freakin' confused....
One thing to make sure: Hair cannot change texture. if someone is born with straight hair, it will never get curly. Maybe you used the wrong products or colored it? When I colored my hair it got really frizzy and all this stuff, but now all the colour is out and it's nice again.
@@lucyblewer3514 yes i have the same problem. I keep an eye out for anything that look like it might work 4 me.. Currently i use the Cantu cream i apply a little while my hair is wet i twist and allow to air dry n also when it's try i apply a small amount again to help with frizz. Usually helps.
Yay! Thank you ladies! I’m glad I wasn’t too far off for my wavy hair! I started in January to figure out I had wavy hair and not straight (I’m 32 and never knew! lol), and my hair looked very similar to theirs, I am now much more into a 2c/3a spirals ! So weird and awesome how my hair health and look has changed! Thanks in a very big part to your channel! 😍
My hair was SOOO POOFY and FRIZZY and I saw a girl on UA-cam who had the same hair and found out it was actually curly, I researched and treated my hair as curly hair..... ITS CURLY!!!
@@okikeure7422 my dad is half zimbabwean and half english my mum swiss...so my parents didnt know my texture either. So they treated my hair since they started growing like european hair. It happens 🤷♀️😂
@@okikeure7422 no my hair was straight/frizzy for years... it was only when i crunched my hair and used curly hair product. They became wavy now they curly. 😂😂🤷♀️
I just did this AND WHEN I SAY THE DEFINITION......Whew I mean it. I'm noticing clumps in my hair i've never noticed before. I left my hair half dry and clipped my roots. I'm really excited to see it once it's dried completely.
Thanks mell I've been binging your videos in hopes of learning to do my curly but very fine hair after 48 years of having it. I now have a bit more confidence doing my hair.
Very beautiful work, Mel and Amanda! ❤ what you two do for the curlies out here that have been frustrated with our hair for years not knowing what the heck to do with it. Resorting to straightening it because of a lack of knowing what else to do with the unruly mop. Thank you so so much.❤❤
This is exactly what my hair did when I tried their methods during quarantine haha your instructions are perfect! I love seeing my hair go to its full potential ❤️❤️❤️
Omg I was someone who had “frizzy straight hair” & found so many videos like this. So I started a whole new hair routine (never used a leave in conditioner in MY LIFE) & found out I have 2B hair!!! Insane!!
dixie normous I don’t diffuse my hair! I notice when I put heat, it gets really frizzy & damaged bc it’s so thin, it doesn’t like heat! So I just use a conditioning shampoo, a really good conditioner for frizzy hair(both by hairitage). Then I’ll use a leave in conditioner (hairitage) with a hair styling product (not your mothers). I’m trying to find other products to use bc I’m starting to get some hair fall out. But maybe try without the diffuser!! & just get real hydrating & conditioning products!! Hope this helps 💜
Adriana G I used hairitage dry shampoo and hair mask for a while, and my hair started falling out too! I thought me hair was abnormal, bc it seems like a lot of people love hairitage.
Allie Grace yes at first my hair loved it! But now it’s starting to fall out 😭😭 I was going to try Shea moisture next! See if my hair doesn’t fall out with that :/
Adriana G Sadly in my country curly hair styling products aren’t available so I basically have no other choice but to use no product, I would air dry my hair but it takes about 4-5 hours to air dry yet still looks like a mess afterwards :(
My mom has wavy/curly hair. My dad has straight. I always thought I had straight hair but it never ever looked right. My hair has always been so intensely frizzy from root to end. I never have bleached my hair, I rarely heat style (like once every few months rare), I only have dyed it a few times in my life (with colors close to my brunette hair). I sleep on a satin pillowcase, I even use a microfiber towel. I did masks I did everything and the only time my hair ever looked okay was when I did overnight braids to wavy my hair. Which always stayed in my hair for 2 or more days until I washed again. Since finding this channel to help my coworker enhance her natural biracial curls I came across this in my notifications. I got some products I tried it last night and I almost cried. Little to no frizz and my hair has texture. I still have a lot of learning to do but I wanted to say thank you mel for this. Thank you for all of your extremely informative, fun videos. I finally am on the path of loving my hair! 💕
Yay!!! ❤️❤️😍❤️ this my exact hair type. It was awesome being able to see this. Thank you so much Amanda and Mel. So helpful. I really struggle with my hair. It looks straight when I do nothing but it’s sooo frizzy. It’s so happy when I style it wavy. I’m a 2a/b. Please more wavy videos! ☺️
I absolutely loved this video! All my life I thought I had straight-ish hair but I recently learned that I have wavy hair. I would recommend to use mousse instead of gel on wavy hair, cause gel can really weight down the waves but obviously it all depends on your hair type 😊
Mell, your videos have turned my hair world sideways in just a few days. I wasn't sure if my hair had wave potential, but I scrunched my old conditioner in the shower and suddenly my hair was wavy! Now I'm on day 3 of my wavy hair journey and very excited. I used to have to sit for my friends with a curling iron for 3 hours and a whole bottle of hairspray just for a few hours of curls. Using your methods and the right products, my hair is taking right to it! Thanks so much for your dedication and posting so many tutorials
When I was a kid I would let my hair air dry with no product in it and then when I went to school it was wavy (snarly) underneath and straight on top. It wasn’t until I was in my 20’s that I realized my hair behaved that way because it was wavy.
I always air dry with no product.. yet i still have rulers for hair strands 😂😂 though when my hair was longer i did use some conditioner to keep the back smooth and knotless
The flipping upside down part 🤣 my 2c hair is very fine and also very long, so I know my hair is gonna look voluminous and defined if I have neck pains from styling it. Please make more styling videos for wavy hair! I’d love to learn how I can improve my routine ❤️
LOL and here I was trying to figure out how to control the frizz. I've literally been Google searching for the best products and wondering if I needed to use a straightener. Thank you for this, you may have changed my life. Also, thanks for all the giggles, I needed them!!
This reminds me of how I felt whenever I first figured out how to style my hair 😂 I always have had curly hair, but my mother has mostly straight hair and my dad had short hair all growing up so I never had anyone to teach me how to care for my hair. It’s awesome to see other people finding out how to care for their hair!
Yesss girl!!! I have 3b hair as well and remember being in school when a girl with 4b hair told me that my hair is wavy, not curly. Because the coils aren't as tight as hers, she considered my hair "not curly". 🤷♀️🤷♀️
This is the EXACT video I needed to see! About 4 years ago I stopped washing my hair everyday and stopped using products and actually started straightening my curly hair. Well now my hair is barely even considered wavy now. I've been trying to get my curls back and have tried a bunch of different curly products but I see with this video it's the technique that goes along that's kinda most important. Thank you ladies! I have hope to have my curly hair again
lol I realized I had wavy hair when I would brush it while it’s and it would be straight but when it dried, the underside of my hair was wavy no matter what
I love how Mell and Amanda (being curly sisters) are wearing similar blue tops, and Amber and Tiffany (also sisters, but wavy) are wearing white ones. I think it's so cute
Thank you for this video! I tried the method you showed in this post yesterday and for the first time ever, I can see defined waves and curls. I had to use the products I had at hand rather than what you recommended, but I'm still uber impressed by the results. It makes so much sense to brush one's hair while wet to make the waves detangle and also get defined. I've been trying TCG method for ages and spent so much time and money trying to get it right and failing miserably. I kind of gave up and decided I just had awful hair. But with the results I got with what you showed plus the not-to-great products I had at home, I think I can pick something good and actually see good results. I also want to add that my hair doesn't just look better, it also feels right... and that's a very new sensation for me.
"I used to have ringlets as a kid" Turns out I still have curl. My frizzy, break-y mess is actually just awfully treated curly hair. What the heck. Time to start my curly journey, holy heck thank you Mel! I could never put product in my hair after it dried without becoming a total crust bucket; today I have conditioner, mousse, and gel in my hair (that I put in while i was still in the shower) and its softer than my hair is when I normally do without product. You are a wizard!!!
Wondering if you can do an updated video using the products you use now and what methods you use since you don’t use the plop method anymore? Or link to the updated? Ty!
Month 2 of curly hair and i sometimes feel like giving up, I just can't seem to get a good wash day. My second or 3rd day always seems better though. I've added layers today so hopefully the new cut will do some good. Also please can you do a short (above shoulder) length hair video, thanks ❤
Don't give up! I finally, FINALLY found the right stylist, and the layers he put in have made all the difference. That, and time. And practice. Worth it, though. I love my hair now!
Hey!! What do you mean when you dont have a good wash day? Is how your hair looks or the products and feel? I may be able to lend a few tips:) Are you a wavy curly or curly?
As a black women, I would always look at white women with “straight” hair and I can see the potential waves. Time for white women to experience the natural hair journey.

Lorena Margiano so excited for you!!! New hair new you ❤️
yesss my hair has beautiful curl/waves when it's short (shoulder length), but as it gets longer, it straightens out from the weight and age of the its ends. i've learned to keep it oiled, use product (mousse works really well), and let it dry in a loosely tied scarf. it looks so alive these days

Agreed! I feel like there's always someone in a wavy girl's comment section that loses it when the word "curl" is mentioned.
@@celina8331 Lmao this whole paragraph just to be passive agressive 😂
@@amoryhasafford7585 those products were made for people with curly hair not just for black people. I'm not black I'm puerto rican with really curly hair, and Cantu is personally the best product I have used for my hair. No where on the bottle does it say "for black people" its says curl cream. Mel (the one with the blonde tight curls) isn't black. Shes almost full Italian. Are you saying shes not allowed to use these products because shes not black even though she has super tight curls.

An eye opener! First time i heard this and i’m like DUHHHHH, it explains everything. 😂

When the perm I got still didn't fall out after 10+ years I eventually realized I probably had naturally wavy hair and didn't know it...
Lol
When i tried to perm my hair it didn't even last for 48 hours 😂😂😂😂
That happened to me too! I thought my perm was still hanging on then my hairdresser told me it was my own curl. Mind blown lol.
Wait me too. I got it done around 6th grade and my hair stayed wavy after that. I assume it naturally changed around puberty and I had no idea because of the perm.
@@Asdfghjkl-pb1ir I’ve never had perm but as soon as I hit puberty my hair became curly/wavy.
in hispanic culture/society, people often think there's such thing as "frizzy" textured hair. nope, that's just curly/wavy/kinky hair you have no idea how to handle
same with India!!

Ok I want a 30 day update with their hairs!!!! This is how my hair started and my hair is significantly a tighter curl now. It takes time to find your way to do your hair but it’s worth it!

Do you have a routine to fight off the frizz pls?
Aggie Orozco what kind of products do you use I have wavy hair but I’ve always treated it like straight hair because I didn’t know what to use but I want to bring out my waves
Sam Hamel I’d like to know aswell. If it works I’d commit these products but I wanna see if a routine like this actually works for me before getting all the expensive stuff
OMG YOUR TELLING ME THAT I ACTUALLY MOST LIKELY HAVE WAVY HAIR AND I JUST THOUGHT MY HAIR WAS FRIZZY
SERIOUSLY, like I just graduated high school... I could of spent all that time with pretty wavy hair instead of trying to comb it down every time I saw it in mirror thinking my hair was uncontrollable frizz !!

I have wavy hair but I never knew I needed a routine for it until a video popped up on it and since then I've ben watching them and trying routines but my hair was frizzy so I asked my friend with curly hair and she said I have straight hair and now idk what to do😭
finally a more wavy type! Would like to see more wavy type routines.

Today my brother told me that my 2b wavy hair is "fake" beacuse if I didn't scrunch it and plop it my hair would be straight. I get same comments from other girls in school. Some people can be so rude, but I ignore them and I keep loving my waves.😆♡
I will personally deal with all haters and put them in their place. Your hair has texture and that’s it! PERIOD! Keep on rocking it 😍💖
My dad told me the same thing!
If you do the same process to straight hair no waves would form, that's how you can tell the difference.
Don’t listen to people like that I got it worse they thought it was a weave because someone of my “skin color” cannot have 3c curly hair👩🏻🦱(I’m mixed btw but light skinned)

Wavy Hair Steps
1 - wash hair
(Fanola Restructuring Shampoo and Mask)
2 - put in a light weight oil
(Bumble & Bumble Invisble Oil Spray or Fanola 10 in 1 Spray)
3 - put in styling cream from mids to ends
(Brigeo curl charisma creme or Cantu moisturizing curl creme)
4 - brush products through
5 - wet hair
6 - flip hair over
7 - brush hair upside down & clump hair into sections
8 - scrunch hair & finger foil any sections that are off
9 - set curls with gel
(Brigeo Curl Charisma Gel or Ouidad Advanced Anti-frizz Gel)
10 - plop (scrunch hair in towel) and set for 10 mins
11 - dry hair with a diffuser (hover dry roots & scrunch dry ends for max curl)
Thank you for writing out the steps!😊
When I first started my mom didn’t believe that my hair was anything other than straight because it looked straight wet. Where was this video thennnn!!! Love this!
Where there is FRIZZ, there is CURL! Texture is so unique ❤️❤️❤️
My hair still looks straight when is wet, and then it dries and BAAAM!!
Clau Panquecito that’s what I’ve been sayingggg!!
Clau Panquecito I think it’s cuz the water weighs it down so obviously you aren’t going to see your natural hair texture when it’s wet.. you gotta wait till it’s dry... :)
Natalie Havry that’s what I told my mom but nooooooo. According to her I’m “lying ab my texture.” We just don’t talk ab hair anymore😂

I was only led to the curl community when I heard the sentence "where there is frizz there are curls"
Spread this sentence and I think a lot of people will realize their true hair texture
I have “straight frizzy hair” and I got some of the products mentioned in this video today! My mom has a lot of natural curl in her hair so I’m hoping I do too! Wish me luck!
How's the progress
Second this, how’s it going??! :)
The products in this video are quite heavy for wavy hair. You should try using a lighter leave in and gel or mousse
no because both of my parents have super curly hair but also super fine/thin so mine is very thin as well so its flat but like frizzy? and when its wet its wavy :(
In high school I didn't know what my curly hair texture was because my mom didn't know how to do my hair and it was always straightened every month. I'm surprised it never got damaged. I went through the struggle trying to learn how to do my hair curly and what products to use.
You aren’t alone!! I think we ALL struggled growing up because there just wasn’t many products or help out there. The next gen will have it so easy!
@@ManesByMell Ikr. I can't wait for my son to be here and to teach him all about his beautiful hair curls.
I think you all might have to charge me for a therapy session if I start getting into the struggle to find acceptance with my mother, who wanted so badly for my hair to be straighter.
My mum was always brushing dry my 3c 4a hair. Ouch!
I'm sure your waves are beautiful
I’m sure your waves are real! Mostly whenever you have straight hair it won’t curl no matter how much you scrunch. :)

XOXO

How did it go?
I want to know how it went :)
for me as a wavy hair-girl who always thought she had bunch of frizzes on her head and hated her hair, I find these routines not so appealing still, it takes so much time and energy. So I came up with something simpler, where my hair looks tamed but does not take as much time.
use sulphate-free shampoo
use silicone-free conditioner
when you are out of shower put some lubricant (or alcohol-free gel) on your palm, rub your hands and carefully distribute it on your hair by scrunching it inside on both sides. Scrunch up microfiber towel on your hair same way to dry it a little bit and let it air-dry. That's it
I’m transitioning right now, and my hair looks like a mess of waves and sometimes curls📉📈
It gets better sis!! Hang in there!

same!! like my hair on top is completely straight from heat damage but underneath its super curly,, like pick a lane
Alexandra M. I sure hope so, thank you💕
Butterscotch thing is, I thought my hair was straight but damaged or dry since it’s always frizzy.
turns out it’s not and I just never knew that🙂💔
When I was a kid, my hair was straight, shiny and soft.
Wait that sounds just like my situation but I haven't tried henna. What does it do?
What did henna do to you and how did it help you?
@@izziecanizzy it dyes ur hair
Henna coats your cuticle with color. If you're hair follicle is rough it can smooth it.
One thing to make sure: Hair cannot change texture. if someone is born with straight hair, it will never get curly. Maybe you used the wrong products or colored it? When I colored my hair it got really frizzy and all this stuff, but now all the colour is out and it's nice again.

@@okikeure7422 no my hair was straight/frizzy for years... it was only when i crunched my hair and used curly hair product. They became wavy now they curly. 😂😂🤷♀️
This is the most helpful tutorial (on wavy hair) that I’ve seen - covering all the basics I should know but don’t!
I have curly hair in the front of my face, (especially my hairline) and then wavy hair on the rest of my head🙃 where are my multi - textured girls at?
Curly at the front, wavy at the back (except for a couple of fat ringlets at the nape of my neck). We are the texture version of a mullet 🤣
Straight in the front, wavy in the back and curly around my ears 😅
@Celina Hatton 🤣🤣
Straight on the top then wavy in the mid section and on the bottom curly
Waves in the front, curls in the back top layers, almost flat on the bottom back layers (no matter what styling product I use)🙋♀️
I just did this AND WHEN I SAY THE DEFINITION......Whew I mean it. I'm noticing clumps in my hair i've never noticed before. I left my hair half dry and clipped my roots. I'm really excited to see it once it's dried completely.
Wavy Queen.
Thanks mell I've been binging your videos in hopes of learning to do my curly but very fine hair after 48 years of having it. I now have a bit more confidence doing my hair.
I love seeing results of girls who didn’t know they had wavy hair/curly hair !!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 good job seesters!! You guys are amazing !! 🙌🏼
Your energy makes me soo happy! I literally watch it just to get your vibes! You give off happy/joyful vibes!!!!
Insane!!
what’s your hair care routine? I have straight frizzy hair and my hair is wavy when wet but when I try diffusing my waves are so broken and frizzy😔
dixie normous I don’t diffuse my hair!
See if my hair doesn’t fall out with that :/
Adriana G Sadly in my country curly hair styling products aren’t available so I basically have no other choice but to use no product, I would air dry my hair but it takes about 4-5 hours to air dry yet still looks like a mess afterwards :(
Going to prder the product tomorrow and give this a go. Looks flipping fantastic!
Beautiful waves! Would love to see you cut each of their hair and show us the results.
LadyGamerNerd huh meanwhile both my parents have curly/wavy hair and mine is a plank no matter what i try..
I felt like I was at a sleepover watching this lmao
Me: They all look like sisters...
Her: "Believe it or not: we are related..."
Me: O H
The ultimate squad is a squad of sisters tbh
You could have told me Amanda and the girl whose hair she was doing were sisters, and i would have believed you.
I agree
THIS WORKS! Thank you
I absolutely loved this video! All my life I thought I had straight-ish hair but I recently learned that I have wavy hair. I would recommend to use mousse instead of gel on wavy hair, cause gel can really weight down the waves but obviously it all depends on your hair type 😊
I like foam for all over and gel just on the ends so they survive drying.
Their hair is similar to mine, I’d love to see how you’d cut it...
Me too!
This was really cool ladies! My daughter is a wavy, so I'll be making her watch!
Yas!! Hope it helps 😍😍
Omg mine is like that too
Omg seeing Amber before you brought out her waves, i just thought "Thats my hair!!!" So now i definetley need to try this!!!
This is even more confirmation that I have wavy hair. I’m definitely going to try this routine! Thanks!
You guys really brought out their natural waves! They were curly girls and they didn't even know it. Welcome to the texture fam ❤🙌
They brought to light their natural beauty. Well done!
The flipping upside down part 🤣 my 2c hair is very fine and also very long, so I know my hair is gonna look voluminous and defined if I have neck pains from styling it. Please make more styling videos for wavy hair! I’d love to learn how I can improve my routine ❤️
Your hair is gorgeous 😍
LOL and here I was trying to figure out how to control the frizz. I've literally been Google searching for the best products and wondering if I needed to use a straightener. Thank you for this, you may have changed my life.
Also, thanks for all the giggles, I needed them!!
This reminds me of how I felt whenever I first figured out how to style my hair 😂 I always have had curly hair, but my mother has mostly straight hair and my dad had short hair all growing up so I never had anyone to teach me how to care for my hair. It’s awesome to see other people finding out how to care for their hair!
I have 3b hairrrrrr and so many stupid people are like “it’s not that curly”😤
that’s really weird? are you sure you’re 3b then*
Your hair is super pretty 😭
Yesss girl!!! I have 3b hair as well and remember being in school when a girl with 4b hair told me that my hair is wavy, not curly. Because the coils aren't as tight as hers, she considered my hair "not curly". 🤷♀️🤷♀️
@@xxxmelissatacionxxx Look at her profile pic i'm sure she has 3b if that'S her real hair
They’re just jealous gal 💅🏼😂
Amanda and Tiffany look so much a-like !
I JUST WANT TO SAY BECAUSE OF THIS VIDEO I KNOW I HAVE WAVY HAIR AND NOW I HAVE PRODUCTS THAT WORK FOR ME THANK YOU
YES FINALLY!!!! GIRL IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS
i love seeing people find their natural hairs like yes pop off be a new u yall r beautiful
"I used to have ringlets as a kid"
Turns out I still have curl.
Me too!
I'm here because of KTY. Just letting y'all know. 😁
Wondering if you can do an updated video using the products you use now and what methods you use since you don’t use the plop method anymore? Or link to the updated? Ty!
SHE DANCED!!! AMANDA DANCED 😲😲😲😲
WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER
Month 2 of curly hair and i sometimes feel like giving up, I just can't seem to get a good wash day. My second or 3rd day always seems better though. I've added layers today so hopefully the new cut will do some good.
Also please can you do a short (above shoulder) length hair video, thanks ❤
I can sympathize
Don't give up! I finally, FINALLY found the right stylist, and the layers he put in have made all the difference. That, and time. And practice. Worth it, though. I love my hair now!
Hey!! What do you mean when you dont have a good wash day? Is how your hair looks or the products and feel? I may be able to lend a few tips:)
Are you a wavy curly or curly?
I personally don't have good 1st day hair. The best days for my hair are day 2 or day 3
Keep going!! You just gotta push through this phase! Keep it up, curlfriend!
