    I actually love the vibe that bricks + white paint give. It reminds me the house by the see my parents used to rent in summer when I was a child. As always you did a fantastic job in placing and spacing the tiles!

      Great! Here in Italy we have quite a hot summer and a lot of sunny days so white is a prevalent colour by the seaside

    This is lovely, the blue, white and terracotta brick really give a Mediterranean vibe 🙌🏻☺️

    I did couple of walls with this and grout part is a major PITA. Sealing the brick first helps a lot. But better way is to make grout a bit thinner and apply with a squeeze pouch thing. Waaaaay less cleanup.

    I LOVE all of your videos. You do amazing work and I love how you explain everything. In this video I LOVE the white. It's perfect !

    Looks great. I like the white on the vertical portions personally, gives a nice contrast. Layout is preference as well. Was thinking right before you said it, I would seal those bricks before grout lol. But would then seal again after finishing to lessen maintenance on the grout.

    Would also recommend a piping bag for grout in the future. Would keep it much neater for cleaning later.

    That turned out really nicely! I do like the white paint actually, breaks up the brick a bit plus I do feel that if you filled the white spaces, it would look like too much brick!

    👏🏼 YOU DID AWESOME! oddly satisfying watching someone else do the work 😂 I actually wanted to do something like this and these things bricks 🧱 looks doable to cover my exposed concrete foundations (I think that’s what they’re called). We painted them with some white concrete paint but they are chipping now and I wanted something nicer to add- despite my landscaping plants that will cover them but I’ll still feel better seeing them after giving myself 2 ft clearance so I can get back there and maintain any weeds, etc 😆

    When you mentioned putting a sealer on the bricks before the grout, did you mean, before laying them at the beginning,
    or once they were set in place? It did seem like a sponge party there for awhile. Great video, well narrated and edited.

    • @BYOTools
      @BYOTools  3 місяці тому

      Ment applying a a sealer after they are all laid and dry with thinset. That way the grout would have come off a bit easier on the fronts of the bricks during the washing process. Thanks for watching and good questions.

    I’d hoped you’d brick the walkway! Looks much better, fits the brick you’d already installed and this will last unlike the white paint. I would’ve bricked the entire thing. The white is too much of a contrast plus it won’t last like the brick anyways. If you found either white brick or used white cement and then stamped a brick texture it’d be awesome… still think the white would be too much though. The red tones compliment your dark blue house

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the center line need to bisect through the center of the short sides or the center of the long sides on a herringbone pattern to have even placement? It’s hard to tell from the video, but it looks like you aligned the corners to your center line.

    The pieces you cut with the wet saw, why didn't you cut those in half one last time and put half on each side ?

    Can you use paint stripper that people use on furnitures to remove those paint?

    • @BYOTools
      @BYOTools  3 місяці тому +1

      Probably. Just don't know how that would effect the concrete and if you would still need to abrade it before thinset.

    Looks great. Is the outro shot where it's still wet, or did it dry shiney ?

    • @BYOTools
      @BYOTools  3 місяці тому +2

      They are still damp/wet and dry flat. No shine but I am thinking about adding a clear coat to keep them that dark rich red color. What do you think?

    • @roseanncampbell3168
      @roseanncampbell3168 3 місяці тому +1

      @@BYOTools yes add the clear coat, it will help with cleaning it in the future and seal it to make it more weatherproof 😊

    • @Czechbound
      @Czechbound 3 місяці тому +2

      @@BYOTools Thank you. I woud keep them matt. To me, shiney brick looks a bit "cheap". The only place I've seen brick steps was in the USA - I've never seen it in Europe. I always thought they were full bricks ( I'm thinking the General Electric training facility in Conneticut that was built in the 1950's ), but maybe they were brick tiles !

    Why did you run the bricks on the steps perpendicular to the nosing? If you ran the bricks parallel it would have looked much cleaner and you wouldn’t have that skinny strip at the top. Pretty goofy move to me.
