BEFORE YOU COMMENT... Just to be clear, when I said that "You saved yourself thousands of dollars" I am not talking about my little slab of concrete. I'm talking about the typical driveway or porch project ( large or small ) that can cost $5,000-$10,000 if you hire a professional to rip up, haul away and re-pour. Yes, I could have completely replaced this particular slab for about $30 but the point of this video is to demonstrated to my viewers how to make this type of repair and give them more options. This is a great way to save MONEY, TIME and HASSLE if traditional methods are not an option.

Hey Michael, in your video you stated that you hadn't found a stain that you haven't fallen in love with. Let me recommend one: It is made by Smith Paints; It is called Smith's Color Floor. It comes in array of colors and is designed for concrete. It comes in a one quart concentrated bottle an it is recommended to mix it 4: 1 with purified water. 1 qt. makes a gallon. This stain is polymer moified and is amazing. I have been using this stain for over 20 years. I don't know why it isn't more popular. Hope this helps, Lee.

When I wanted to make my retaining driveway wall more uniform in color, old concrete, new concrete, I just added regular paint to a slurry of cement a painted the retaining wall. Looks good.

  • @Ootgreet1

My concern is that this slab cracked partly because of unequal support from the ground. What you've done is resurfacing. It hides the cracks but you still have several broken pieces underneath that may separate again if extreme weight is placed on the slab. It's no stronger. For a SMALL piece of concrete like this the "right" repair (IMO) is actually replacement (with remesh, rebar, chicken wire, etc for strength). However, the value of this video is to show that this technique would work well on much larger concrete with greater thickness that cracks - the weight and much larger surface area of something like a driveway will keep things in place and that is where your resurfacing approach shines. Thank you for making this video. Your statement in the pinned comment about the value of repair vs replacement is totally spot on.
