  • I was brought up in a Cantonese family. Lotus root soup with pork ribs and peanuts (排骨花生莲藕汤) is the best soup I like among a variety of soup served by my mother.
    Over the years, I have tasted the many variations of lotus root soup, but none of those can beat the time-tested family recipe. The flavor of pork ribs, peanuts and lotus roots are the triumvirate of the lotus soup. That is the ultimate combination! We keep it simple, no carrot, no sweetcorn required.

    Thanks for the recipe and detailed instructions. Can i substitute with red skin peanuts or must be boiling type (clear skin)?

    thank you for sharing this recipe. When I went to SG I tasted it and wanted to try to cook but I don't know where U can buy the ingredients here in Manila. I am looking where can I but the lotus root, red dates and wolfberry. If ever can you recommend some alternative for red dates and wolfberry? Thanks and congratulations to your channel.

    If you soak the wolfberry, the natural taste is gone.
