1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 medium onion, chopped

I marinade my steaks in soy sauce, fresh garlic. Leave in fridge overnight. Steaks so tender when cooked. Doesn't matter what cut of meat you use the steaks always turn out tender. My darling mother taught me this method over 50 yrs ago and l still marinade my steaks the way she showed me.

Very strange recipe ... soy sauce, sugar, tomato paste, thai chili pepper, oyster sauce ... each of these ingredients have thier own unique taste; sweet, sour, spicy, aromatic ... i wonder how the final dish turn out to be???

It’s a very common Filipino flavor profile, salty, savory and sweet with a lot of umami. Flavors are strong because they are paired with rice and with a heavy rice to meat ratio. The flavors blend really well. It’s like adobo but also stewed with tomatoes. It’s a style we call menudo. Mmmm.
