I believe every word Kane said. His ex-wife sounds like a meth addict. And the COURTS awarded him custody of his daughter. There must be something seriously wrong with that woman. And yes he had a gambling issue. I don't think Kane deserves the bad rap everyone dumps on him.

I think people are too quick to judge on what the media and the spotlight puts out there, and people just paint the picture. We live in a very "politically correct world" full of a vast majority of dull minded human beings who can't think for themselves and it's sort of why this world's going to shit. That being said I think Kane is very well spoken and has owned the truth behind a lot of what's transpired.
Kane is a hell of a hockey player, there aren't too many guys in the game today that still play hockey the way It should be still played. He's tenacious and digs and throws his body around with speed, skill and a good set of hands as well. He produces and plays the game hard and anyone who wouldn't take this guy on there team because of his so called "5 chances" is an idiot, he makes any team better.
In regards to a team and the management not wanting the drama or all the allegations that are spiraling around, that's totally understandable as well. I don't think anyone will ever know the FULL truth behind what's gone on in the household with his ex-wife and who's trying to manipulate or exploit who in the situation but it seems his ex wife was spitting the lies. I don't think we will know the truth about players who've played with him or how he is in the dressing room either, it's just speculation. You're never going to get along or be close with every teammate, some people have different interests or values but as a teammate you should still go to bat for the guy next to you.
His gambling addiction - I for one myself have probably suffered a story book written life of jaw dropping stories with gambling and I am in the same age gap and understand all the highs and lows and trauma that gambling and the numbness can do to a brain, and it's a very dark life of vicious cycles and I am also a former junior player. I personally think gambling addiction is the worst addiction someone can have and the reason why I believe this is because you become desensitized to $ and you're gambling in and out of thousands if not millions in so many aspects on a daily basis whether its casino, poker, sports betting, betting on golf or anything for that matter and it can destroy your brain and put you some very ill minded states of mind and the world we live in today is $, everything cost $. Imagine someone who swings around millions but than has to go work 9 to 5 daily for in his mind is $0, Kane's lucky he has a job that pays out millions but it's also the down side to him being reckless like he has been. That being said it doesn't mean you're a bad person. It's a disease that can take over your life, or take your life BUT it's up to you to cope and heal from it all and get away from it all in any form of help. I get it, the night life action of hockey/gambling/partying/girls it all comes hand and hand and it can be very enjoyable at times, but I still don't think the highs out weigh how dark and low it can get at times. Almost anyone who gambles money around and gets deeply involved in gambling regularly doesn't have full control to stick to a system that benefits you in any way, not saying you can't win often. I played poker for a living for years and was making 6 figures in my early 20s and got deeply involved in casino games and swung around millions, it's a sick twisted life style and I hope Kane can get away from it and focus on more important things in life.
He seems to be a good father to his daughter and love her and hopefully any decisions he makes moving forward will be for the good of him and his family and his career. People sitting here judging him, just shitting on him like you don't have your own problems, depression, anxiety or any situations in your life where you've made a few mistakes but it's just not in the headlines because you're not a pro athlete? LOL like get real. There are plenty of NHL players who have gambling addictions, coke addictions among many other things and I understand being a PRO athlete it's apart of being a pro to conduct yourself professionally on and off the ice because you never know who's watching BUT these players have lives away from the game. Shit happens, life's good and fucked up all at the same time, everyone has there story... at the end of the day if we are talking HOCKEY, Kane's a good hockey player.

There was this time he was arrested and let go with a warning:
Headline of article - "Evander Kane charges dropped if he can behave for six months"
There is the Rachel Keuchle case which is an ongoing civil matter, police did not charge him for that incident. That may have been from a lack of evidence or because he was innocent. The fact remains he still is fighting this lawsuit, his counter defamation suit has been or is about to be dropped by his trustee responsible for his bankruptcy. I would personally regard this as the most egregious particularly in combination with the previous above story. There are lots of news stories covering this but no information given aside from that the case will be moving ahead.
google anything to do with 'kane keuchle', or specifically 'kane keuchle lawsuit resumes' or 'kane trustee dropps defamation suit' for more recent updates.
Then there is the case where he told an ex-girlfriend he'd pay her to get an abortion (details are worse than that), and then decided not to pay her. This is another ongoing civil suit.

People don't like being preached to. Hockey is starting to bring in more and more Black players but for a controversial figure like him to talk about it, it comes across as deflecting. I had no problem with him because the NHL had Sean Avery among other "Bad Boy" types and so I had no problem with him. I would even dare to say that he would have been a good fit with my beloved Boston Bruins.
He did a good job showing a side of him that the people public hadn't seen before. He even mentioned the fact that he has addressed his mental health issues, which is sorely lacking in the NHL. I was on this guy's side (Possibly one of the few people outside of Edmonton) then he had to play the race card. He should thank his lucky stars that he gets the second chances that he gets. He's an agitator, nothing more. He's a decent goal scorer but his dirty play disguises that.
He brings up Tony McKegney. I liked him a lot but he had a few single digit goal scoring years and he was a journeyman...like Kane. McKegney played for 7 teams and Kane is already on his fifth and that wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been cleared of insider trading.

Kaner lost the ability some time ago to use the race card. The first few times, yeah, he can blame the negative perception on racial prejudice (not unlike P.K. Subban and the undue scrutiny he got in Montreal). After a while though, that defence fades especially since other players like Wayne Simmonds and even P.K. himself are not talked about like Kane is talked about.

@@kiroolioneaver8532 Some of P.K's scrutiny was warranted in Montreal as he was a dirty player. When he played for the Bleu, Blanc et Rouge Subban was a dirty player who looked like he was out to hurt players. I admit that I'm a biased Bruins fan but I remember in one game Subban kept attacking David Krejci. After a while Andrew Ference came up to fight Subban because Krejci was a finese player who didn't fight. Once Ference started trying to fight Subban, PK Turtled into his sweater. I lost a lot of respect for him that night. Of course, now, I would like to see PK don the Black and Gold. With my luck the Black and Gold that he'll wear will be for the Pittsburgh Penguins and he'll become another Pemguin who ends a Bruins' career. First it was Cam Neely then it was Marc Savard. Who next? David Pastrnak?
I remember Bruins fans got heat for being racist for one racist tweet by someone claiming to be a Bruins fan. He ended up being a New York based Rangers fan who hated the Bruins.
The only real racism that I knew of in the NHL was when Wayne Simmonds, then with the Flyers, scored a shootout goal to beat the Red Wings in Detroit. The fans (I'm sure it was a small number of fans) threw bananas onto the ice. That was utterly disgusting. On the other hand it was good to see the Red Wings players blast the idiots who did it.

@@kencoakley3959 To be fair, (maybe because you're an American, I'm assuming?) the critique of Subban wasn't his dirty play mostly (at leas in Canadian media). A lot of it was character attacks for his "swagger" (despite, at around the same time, players like Patrick Kane actually criminally crossing the line like assaulting a taxi driver and getting sexual assault allegations). Darren Pang on TSN even made a Freudian slip where he compared Subban to Pietrangelo and said "he needs to play hockey the white way, right way" and Mike Milbury critiqued P.K. singing along to arena songs in warmup and dancing as someone needing to "settle him down" whilst players like Brett Burns did the exact same thing.
And with all due respect (and forgive me if this comes off as confrontational, it's not intended to be lol) as a Bruins fan to say "The only real racism that I knew of in the NHL" was the banana incident when racist tweets by Bruins fans towards Joel Ward and P.K. when they both scored overtime playoff goals (yes, a minority but to the point where the Boston Bruins organization had to condemn that behaviour by their own fans) and you had the "basketball" chants towards Davante Smith-Pelley in Chicago that got a fan banned from the United Center? Granted no black NHL player (In fact all have said) has said they've experienced racism from teammates and coaches at the NHL level but there's still a double standard sometimes.
The issue with Kane is he's passed the point where he can blame solely race issues.

@@kiroolioneaver8532 I certainly don't condone what Patrick Kane did to the cab driver or the sexual assaults (if he did it). Subban was disliked here in Boston because of the color of his jersey (Bleu, Blanc et Rouge) and because of his penchant for cheap shotting finese players and backing down from fights with non finese players. His brother, Malcolm, now in Vegas, was a Bruins 1st round draft pick and no one complained about it. Sometimes it goes the other way. During the 1990-91 season the Bruins had a Black player named Graeme Townshend and all the kids in Boston made him sound like the next Wayne Gretzky. "Townshend is an awesome player. They should put him with Neely and Janney." Of course, they would have to switch him from RW to LW to do that.
He was a decent checking forward.
I think Bruins fans would embrace PK Subban if he came to Boston. Unlike Kane, Subban hasn't done anything wrong off the ice and hasn't done anything bad on the ice since he played in Montreal.
