Great job on this, Ryan! I've actually been focusing on growing my email list, but now ready to jump into Spotify and Streaming Platforms as part of the long-term music income plan. Chasing playlists always seemed like a waste of time and money. Now I know why! Thank you so much for this video, so we can all do it right! 😀
I have a question, after watching this video I clicked on one of the links and saw that you offer assistance with streaming. While reading everything on the site, your streaming promises seem similar to the sites that don't seem legit. It offers guaranteed results for one. What makes your guarantee more legit than the next?
Great question Ari! This is correct, “guaranteed streams” have a bad reputation because it usually indicates that you’ll just have your song thrown into the “bot machine” until you get the guaranteed number you pay for. AKA... these other guys guarantee that you'll get "results" Our guarantee works in the opposite way, let me explain: Our process involves real humans. We contact influencers and pitch your song onto highly active playlists. (Influencers are people who own popular playlists on Spotify) Since musical taste varies from person to person, each campaign will have a very different outcome depending on the song that you submit with us. We have no clue how many streams you'll actually get, and sometimes songs get flat out rejected resulting in NO placement. So why have a guarantee for an exact number of streams? Well, for us “guaranteed streams” for us is more of a money-back policy rather than a guarantee of results. Real organic promotion can NEVER guarantee "results"- but we CAN protect you and your money. Since there is a chance that your song might get rejected by some influencers, we don’t want you to pay for something and come away empty handed. Every song is different and we will continue to pitch your song until the guarantee is met. But here’s the great thing about it-if for some reason we can never get your song placed or hit the guarantee, then we refund you the difference. That way you never take on any risk when deciding to work with us.
@@YBeats- honestly still haven’t done it yet. We went from releasing a single to releasing an ep, we’re finishing it up rn but the plan is still the same
It is refreshing to see posts like this which help steer artists away from the bot farms and scammers. There are too few of us who do day to day legitimate PR work day in and day out by contacting genuine curators.
In the video, what you say makes sense - if not a little obvious - but there's no actual advice on "how to". Of course we all want to be on those lists you mention, but it's very rare to be on a curated list - I made it once in 3 years. I'll look through the docs, but you could condense this video into 5 or so minutes and give practical tips for the remainder - that would be more valuable that just telling everyone what they want. It is useful to remind that most promo's are either fake or vastly under-deliver. If you google "is legit" you will find most links saying they are legit - because the sites are affiliated with that service. These services create lots of other sites that seem to back them up. Search instead to ask if something is a scam, and you get a better list. Classic search engine confirmation bias.

No such thing. Anyone who guarantees legit streams is lying to you. As he mentions in the video, the only worthwhile playlists are Spotify's own, so the bitter pill to swallow is that we have to play the game and hope that organic growth trips the Spotify algorithm. We've started to see Release Radar joy with our latest songs. I don't think they're better than the earlier releases, just that Spotify now has more of an idea of who might like us.
Amen! Sadly, the majority of people do not realize how valuable all this information is! Being full-time in the music industry for 4-5 years and studying exactly this topic, we can say that almost everything Ryan says in the video is true. Especially the main statement that if it is not a Spotify playlist receiving traffic through SEO, it is not a playlist you want to be on. We understand that the title is designed to draw attention, working inside this industry, we'd say it is not a 99% scam but rather around 88-94% don't really deliver actual value. However, the statements within the video are very well explained and true, which is most important. We've noticed that there are even several Playlist Promotion services that are not even aware of all this and possibly are partially scam/ partially legit, without even knowing. We've written several blog articles where we were trying to explain all of this, but this video completely nailed it. Thanks for that! If you wouldn't mind we would consider embedding this video within our website. Really glad to see that there is another music marketing company out there that is aware of this and actually shares this information. To Ryan: We'd love to have a chat with you, especially since we can share some insights/information with you that might be very interesting for you. Great research, well done!
Everyone has a chance to get on Release radar just like everyone has a chance to win the Lottery. Spotify are the winners here whatever you do and playing with musicians dreams just as much as the dodgy Spotify promo playlisters ...
So how do I get on the important highly ranked playlist? I am pitching to Spotify high quality music with no results and I am trying to find playlists that are high ranked to increase exposure. Thanks for doing this and appreciate the advice however, I would like to spend some time on the solution as well - how do you get on Highly Ranked Playlists?
I got added to a bot playlist not long ago without even submitting. All streams were coming from 2 towns lol. Also I've got on many real ones which is great too. Ever since my followers have been growing up, release radar streams have been too. I've even been getting some plays on Spotify radio
Same thing happened to a friend of mine too! A lot of artists don’t realize that they have zero control over what happens to their music once it’s live on Spotify. Which is why I’m so glad that you’re combatting it by flooding your music with real listeners so that bots play less and less of a factor. Good job!
@@JamesReviews I am having the same problem. My Listeners on Spotify come mostly from only two cities because of some sketchy playlist that the song is not even in anymore. I reached kind of an audience which I can see in my Spotify for Artists but for Listeners on the Spotify Page it might look sketchy..
Is that not what you do? Promise artists streams in exchange for money. The playlists you place on from Indie Music Academy may be legit enough, but this is not a real recipe for artist growth, just a recipe to make Ryan here rich.
I really like your videos, and this advice. As a former label owner, I had to use a bunch of playlists (some shady, some not) to push music and I learned organic vs inorganic the hardway. I liked the analogy to a ponzi scheme, because that is happening to alot of artists who dont put in the time to learn the game. While I found you to be very genuine and honest for explaining this to everyone, I wish the video could be more concise - a bit shorter. Keep up the videos!
Hey all you hard working musicians out there. Go buy some Lottery tickets. Better chance of making some money from those than from the "all music should be free" music business. Why have almost 80% of PRO musicians QUIT the music business? OH yes nobody wants to pay you ONE DIME for your music!
Trust me I am Latino and I been trying lots of Marketing companies for years to increase my social media pages with no results. Honestly I am subscribing to your channel cause you seen a honest person and explain step by step how this music business works and why not I might try your marketing service hoping to get results.
