Aki jutsu was one of my favs before modern grappling. This is a useful technique it's in chen style as well.

That only works when you put the weight of the attacker in his nearest foot. And in otoshi, the lower part of your body has to move forward first. Bending forward is considered a mistake.

Isn't aiki some sort of fascial manipulation or triggering internal muscles like the psoas muscle?

I don't know about that, never heard of that either 🤷‍♂️

Fascias and psoas exist and can be used, but they're also two fashionable words that people mostly overuse when explaining bulshit...

Yeah, I never heard it in an Aiki context, mostly woo Tai Chi guys I see abuse that term

@@martialgeeks yeah it's a fairly recent trend, makes it all "sciencey".

It refers to ki , old Japanese, it's closest translation is similar to tao, way of all things referring to natural and biological physics. We also have zen , meaning empty , and we have taiji yin yang which symbolises both sides of these natural ways . The samurai studied the way of death, aki studies the way of life . These things relate to the mindset of the artists and their spiritual ideology.
