Muhammad Ali was willing to fight George Foreman what happened was his trainers and manager did not want him fighting foreman because the first time around in their fight even though all he won he took a big beating I understood he spent a few days in the hospital he took a lot of punishment to the body and they did not want to risk that again because he's not quick on his feet Like he used to be
Ali took his trash talking beyond 'hyping a fight' on more than one occasion. - He harassed Sonny Liston at his own home. - Treated Frazier shamelessly - Encouraged the crowd in Kinshasa to chant 'Ali, Kill him' I have no doubt Ali's gloating contributed to Foreman's post-fight depression. Of course, he has subsequently found faith and forgiven Ali. Ali was a great athlete but he was not always a great sportsman.
Ali drank his own kool-aid and thought he was invincible. He didn’t give foreman a rematch. His behaviour was awful. He was not a humble champion. He faced the undefeated champion and lost miserably: Time.
Considering Frazier helped get Ali reinstated into boxing after Ali refused to go to Vietnam and then he had the nerve to call Frazier an "Uncle Tom" repeatedly before they fought each other. Everyone forgets that side of Ali.
@@STEVE-MOWZER I don' t disagree, but I bet more people have seen a rocky movie than a Frazier fight. Foreman, then the world heavyweight champion, was a heavy favorite to beat Ali, the former champion. But Ali deflected or absorbed Foreman's punches as he leaned against the ropes, allowing Foreman to tire himself out in the tropical heat. He knocked Foreman out in the eighth round for the title. But Foreman, now 58, says something else tired him. In his memoirs he says before the fight, his trainer gave him something to drink that tasted like medicine. "I almost spit it out ... [I told my trainer] 'Man, I know this water has medicine in it,'" Foreman wrote. "I climbed into the ring with that medicinal taste still lingering in my mouth." "After the third round, I was as tired as if I had fought 15 rounds. What's going on here? Did someone slip a drug in my water?" he wrote.
He also had other excuses, like the ropes being too loose, allowing Ali to pull further back to slip punches. Now, you didn't expect Foreman to accept defeat gracefully, did you?

Big George Foreman was really Big as a Great Boxer (One of Best HEAVYWEIGHTS EVER) and , also , Big in Life . He 's a great Human Being , Priest . And he's still THE OLDEST WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP IN BOXING !
Several opponents Ali wouldn't stand toe to toe and box' rather dance around the ring avoiding and taunting them wearing them down chasing him was his tactic.
At 10:56 Foreman paused and looked at the side of his head like he was a barber, and the commentator threw shade at Judge saying he had a chin made out of glass 😂
An Ali/Foreman- Don King promotional stunt. George could easily have knocked any of the five out in under a minute in the first round with only body shots.
That's what I thought too - Foreman seemed to playing with them - probably so the whole show wasn't over too soon - people needed to get their money's worth.
LMMFAO @2:21, poor dude holding the heavy bag for Foreman head is taking an absolute ass kickin. . . . Foreman never needed to hit you clean, the kinetic energy alone fuckin destroyed dudes!
Its a strategy that can get you the win, and btw its the other guys fault for making it boring because he doesnt try hard enough, and also ali has to make sure he doesnt get knocked out by the one he's trying to get tired and thats a showcase of skill in my opinion, theres a reason they call him the greatest, its just unfair foreman doesnt hold that title with hin
George Foreman had one tactic: move forward and throw punches. he accuses anyone who doesn't stand still and get hit of "running". Fact of the Ali fight is that Ali landed MANY sharp counterpunches from off the ropes. You get much more "tired" when you're getting HIT.
well they loosened the ropes in Zaire, it is what it is. these guys (Dundee, Pacheco etc..) knew all of the tricks of the game, their tactic worked. , poor george foreman really didn't take that loss very well, literally took years off his career.
He knew he fought a terrible fight he was so damn wild he thought he can get Ollie out of there with one punch it didn't work that way he end up punching himself out and collapse from exhaustion
Not Clay, Ali. He changed his name , don't you remember ? You think he got lucky that night ? I think Ali was lucky , because he was really better than Foreman on Zaire . Even Foreman admited that Ali (ex Clay) was better because Foreman got tired and Ali took the advantage with Rope a Dope and counter attack knocking out Foreman fairly . If Ali got lucky that night like you said , it was thanks to Ali's skills who made him "lucky" ! To get lucky , you have to Work succefully. No Pain no Game
Of course I know his name was Clay. You don't need to remember . He changed his name , because of islamic religious reason as you know as well as , he didn't want to be remembered as Clay anymore and instead , he wanted to be known as Ali . So why do you call him Clay instead of Ali ?
Actually he didn't avoid forming his managers and trainers did not want him fighting foreman they wouldn't let him because the beating he took the first time around and they were afraid it was worse this time around and he was getting at an age where he should be taken that kind of punishment they were just trying to protect him because fighters aren't afraid of fighters that's because that's what they do

I have no doubt Ali's gloating contributed to Foreman's post-fight depression.
Ali said he was talking shit and playing the crowd so they could all make big money.
Frazier should have a statue in Philly not fictitious boxer "Rocky Balboa". Something is wrong with that picture.
@@STEVE-MOWZER I don' t disagree, but I bet more people have seen a rocky movie than a Frazier fight.
The world is about money and tourism (money) I bet you've watched a video of people doing the rocky bounce next to the statue, do you think it would draw as much attention as a Frazier statue?
I agree with you, but the money doesn't.
Especially next to an art museum.
Ali was so in his head that night. Getting Ali to sit next to Cosell and call the fights was genius.
"I climbed into the ring with that medicinal taste still lingering in my mouth."
"After the third round, I was as tired as if I had fought 15 rounds. What's going on here? Did someone slip a drug in my water?" he wrote.
He also had other excuses, like the ropes being too loose, allowing Ali to pull further back to slip punches. Now, you didn't expect Foreman to accept defeat gracefully, did you?
@@NilezII your supposition has no facts - - - Ali famously called Foreman "a Belgian" in Zaire, branding him the enemy in a country ruled by Belgium from 1908 to 1960. His longtime business manager, Gene Kilroy, said he was involved in the scheme. Although Ali was married to his second wife at the time, he married Veronica Porche in a private religious ceremony at Ali's villa in Zaire a week before the fight. Eight days before the scheduled bout, Foreman suffered a cut over his right eye during a sparring session. George Foreman's been cut and I'm going to have to reach Don King … to get together and seeing about postponing the fight. During negotiations before the fight, Foreman said, King promised him $500,000 on top of the guaranteed $5 million. At the time of the cut, the $5 million was secured in a bank and due Foreman upon completion of the fight. But he said he had yet to see the $500,000 and realized he suddenly had leverage.
"I told (King) if I didn't get my money, my half million dollars, there was not going to be a fight," said Foreman, adding that panicked government officials met with him and King then told him his money could be picked up in London. King said he didn't recall the events Foreman described, but that he would not dispute the story.
@@NilezII BUT DO EPP UP THE POMPOUS CRT babble .... always amusing - - - A History of Don King's Moments ^^^^ 1. Shoots a Man in the Back , when Don King worked as a numbers runner and went by "Donald the Kid" he ran an illegal gambling house in Cleveland. When he walked in on Hillary Brown allegedly robbing the joint, he gunned him down with a Russian revolver. 2. Gets Convicted of Second Degree Murder, When, according to King, one of his employees "ran off with (some) money," King pistol-whipped him and stomped him to death outside a bar in Cleveland. The employee owed $600 and his purported last words were, "I'll give you the money, Don." 3. Steals From a Hospital, Don King organized a charity boxing match featuring Muhammad Ali to benefit Forest City Hospital, an underfunded care center outside King's hometown of Cleveland. On the surface it sounds like a pretty proud moment for the boxing promoter, until you look at the books. On an episode of the ESPN's series SportsCentury Don Elbaum, a fellow boxing promoter, alleged that of the $85K the event made in ticket sales, the hospital received $1500. 4. The Ring Magazine Scandal, In the wake of the '76 U.S. Olympic team winning five gold medals, Don King pitched ABC on the idea of a televised national boxing tournament. In order to bolster the prestige of his event, King allegedly paid The Ring Magazine (an authority on boxing at the time) to falsify the track records and rankings of tournament participants.
The controversial tournament became toxic when one of the tournament fighters informed the media that the tournament was rigged for those who had contractual ties to King. He'd go on to explain that he was told he'd lost his next fight before arriving to the venue. More boxers would come forward with allegations of payoffs, leading ABC to cancel the tournament.
That sounds like something Don King would do. In fact, it sounds exactly like something that con man race baiting hustler would do.

Later on in life, foreman started challenging 5 Guys, the restaurant.
I would love to see this replicated today. Does anyone have the ability to do what George Foreman did back than?

My respects to George. After been an angry young men, then he became a lovely outspoken guy. I bet finding God definitely changed his life.

Loved Ali & Foreman 🥊
Foreman giving 5 people in 1 night a grilling 😂
LOL! Good one! 😁
Ali is so funny 😂. He was the funniest champ ever and the pretiest😂 RIP Ali
I love Ali but he was sooo annoying that night 😭💀
bro he gotta motivate the fighters lol. Imagine Muhammad Ali as your coach while fighting foreman. They listened to his words every time if you watch.
Ali had a history of annoying behaviour but good looks and being black at this time made the narrative
@@merseyian It wasnt annoying. Its you new boys being so weak in life.
Another weak boy 🍼
Bro quit crying in life.
George Foreman loved himself so much he named all of his sons "George Foreman'
One
of his daughters also named after him Georgetta Foreman
4 man VS 5 man.
Ali taught foreman how to think like a boxer after the jungle
Nice finishing statement. Very nice.
George threw a can at Ali. Everyone was having so much fun back then. The foreman grill😂🎯
I always liked watching Ali against the undefeated Howard Cosel.
Both George and Ali were great🔥
Big George Foreman was really Big as a Great Boxer (One of Best HEAVYWEIGHTS EVER) and , also , Big in Life .
He 's a great Human Being , Priest .
And he's still THE OLDEST WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP IN BOXING !
From trolling, hating to friendship, brotherhood.. ❤❤
Imagine this happening now - it would be brilliant!
Never thought much of Foreman. This bizarre circus makes me want to watch round 8 of "Rumble in the Jungle" again. Brains over muscles.
Several opponents Ali wouldn't stand toe to toe and box' rather dance around the ring avoiding and taunting them wearing them down chasing him was his tactic.
Muhammad ali's commentary is hilarious😅😅😅
Ali is hilarious. He made the whole spectacle worth it. Racists hated it.
At 10:56 Foreman paused and looked at the side of his head like he was a barber, and the commentator threw shade at Judge saying he had a chin made out of glass 😂
Imagine Mike Tyson doing this.
I cant stop hearing in my head “HIT THE ROPES!MAKE HIM WORK!HIT THE ROPES! MAKE HIM WORK!”
The old ropeadope
An Ali/Foreman- Don King promotional stunt. George could easily have knocked any of the five out in under a minute in the first round with only body shots.
That's what I thought too -
Foreman seemed to playing with them -
probably so the whole show wasn't over too soon -
people needed to get their money's worth.
No doubt about it he just took it easy on them and clowned with them
They didn't drop Foreman even once. Impressive.
Foreman did well against 5 consecutive guys. Everyone who think thats not good, should try that..... just the commentators were shit
LMMFAO @2:21, poor dude holding the heavy bag for Foreman head is taking an absolute ass kickin. . . .
Foreman never needed to hit you clean, the kinetic energy alone fuckin destroyed dudes!
Ali didn't out box people he waited for them to get tired.
avoiding injury and tiring your opponent out is literally 50% of boxing
@@NGG1983 Tell that to younger Mike Tyson, it is just one strategy that has been employed, a boring strategy IMO.
@@mikebelongia6697You sound like a crying girl bro.
The disrespect from the crowd and the announcer is unbelievable, shameful man. We all love George ❤
How pathetic. It was a clown show. Foreman was losing it. These guys couldn't have beaten him if they were all in the ring at the same time.
Well you get in there and show us!
Dude could break bones with his punches
Ali’s incessant yelling was obscene and disgusting and lowlife👎
Watched this on TV. I climbed Mt Rainer the same year with Boone Kirkman. He was a gentleman
well they loosened the ropes in Zaire, it is what it is. these guys (Dundee, Pacheco etc..) knew all of the tricks of the game, their tactic worked. , poor george foreman really didn't take that loss very well, literally took years off his career.
Yes, they also knew, foreman will not have endurance in humidity and heat.
He knew he fought a terrible fight he was so damn wild he thought he can get Ollie out of there with one punch it didn't work that way he end up punching himself out and collapse from exhaustion
Hit the robes make him work...did it for me😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
ropes* knucklehead.
Big Foreman was a tough man ,Clay just got lucky that night.

Foreman broke Ali's jaw and rib. He relied on power instead of actually boxing. Ali made foreman much better and refused a rematch
He didn’t break anyones jaw or rib
Ali later called Foreman offered him a title fight if he beats Ken Norton, Foreman refused and said he is retired
I was unaware of the jaw, but I know his ribs were in real bad shape he spent time in the hospital afterwards
@13:01 "There is simply no shutting up Muhammad Ali at this point...."
Ali never avoided any fighter of the era… except Ali v Forman 2 😊
Bullshit
Except Ernie Shavers for years until he was too old.
