This song always has had a huge place in my wife and my hearts. I served in the British Military for 38 years, and before the internet and facetime, we used to have one phone call a week if we were lucky. And depending of where I was in the world depended on whether we were able to speak or not, I once got put on report when I used a payphone in Abuja in Nigeria, it was worth it. I took my two daughters to this concert after I was released form hospital after I had received several surgery's over two years after I was hit in Afghanistan in 15. Prior to that my oldest son had assisted my escape from hospital a few times to see ELO, Alice Cooper and a few others until my wife started to see if there were any concerts or musical events that might tempt me, busted. But not until after we had managed ELO in Hyde Park and Glastonbury, we got to meat Jeff Lynne at Glastonbury thanks to an old comrade who was in charge of his personal security. He is one of the nicest and most modest people I have ever met. He sent us the tickets for Wembley when my mate told him I was in a wheelchair now, and was still the same man I'd met before. He truly is a music legend.
Love this group. ELO had their biggest hits in the 70's-80's & mixed modern rock pop songs with classical overtones. Jeff Lynne wrote most of their songs. They had a lot of great hits such as "Roll Over Beethoven", "Showdown", "Can't Get It Out Of My Head", "Evil Woman", "Strange Magic", "Livin' Thing", "Rockaria!", "Do Ya", "Turn to Stone", "Sweet Talkin' Woman", "Mr. Blue Sky", "Wild West Hero", "Don't Bring Me Down", "Shine A Little Love", "Last Train To London", "Confusion", "Hold On Tight", "Twilight", "The Way Life's Meant To Be", "Here Is The News", "Ticket To The Moon" etc.
ELO is such a unique and awesome group that produced such great songs. Travis you are so right in giving accolades to the film and production crew. I totally agree, but I totally glossed over that fact due to getting lost in this performance. The whole concert is EPIC. Thanks for the reaction. Take care.
ELO stands for Electric Light Orchestra. They were an English rock band from the 70's. Lots of great songs!! Don't bring me down, All over the World, Evil Woman....etc.
Jeff Lynne is a genius. ELO is stil going and celebrating 50 years this year. Jeff writes the songs, producers the albums, lead singer and lead guitar, he plays 7 instruments by ear, can’t read music. Has produced songs for the Beatles, albums for George Harrison, Bryan Adams to name a couple, part of and producer of travelling wilburys, has had albums every decade since the 60’s and currently writing and recording new material in his 70’s.
ELO is in my Top 3 All Time Faves! Their song ‘Mr Blue Sky’ is my favorite song EVER! Check out a 70’s performance for all the glory! Jeff Lynne is a genius🤩
Jeff Lynne still looks the same as he did years ago…curly hair, beard, sunglasses and sometimes a hat. We saw them live in Tacoma in 2019…it was mind blowing. The staging, lighting and most of all the quality of the music. If it’s possible to sound better than your recordings, they did it. We’ve been Jeff Lynne and Electric Light Orchestra fans for decades.
Not sure you'll ever get the chance to see ELO live but if you do don't pass it up. They are magical live and Jeff Lynne's voice is still perfect after all these years. Saw them a couple if years ago; best concert I've been to in at least ten years. Took my daughter and son-in-law and they were surprised to find that they knew almost every song! They absolutely loved it!
The spaceship is ELO's logo. Glad you've found the fabulous Jeff Lynne. He has influenced and produced many superstars and was one of the Supergroup Travelling Willburys. Try Mr Blue Sky or really any of his hits - there are a lot of them.
When I saw you were reacting to this I clicked on it so quick! I still have my vinyl copy of E.L.O.'s album A New World Record from the mid 70's! Haven't heard it for ages and it gave me chills! Thanks!
I'm so glad you've been introduced to ELO, Travis! They are SO good, and I'm looking forward to more reactions. I love Telephone Line, but hadn't heard it in several years. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome, Travis, to the ELO fan club! Prepare yourself for a deep rabbit hole of hits. Next, I suggest you react to their iconic 1976 song *"Tightrope"* it's a total rock/pop banger with strings galore! But use the studio version, not live, as the studio version utilized a full orchestra, which makes the song epic-sounding!
Yes Travis, brilliant band that was as good as the actual track bk in the 70s, jeff Lynne is a musical guru, check out last train to london from the same live concert..wembley 2017
easy to be clever after 40 yrs, when i went to viena,,for this lp,,it was nice prise,,i still have this album,,nobady wanted ELO,,Now its everegreen,,no problem,,enjoy it,,
Thanks Travis! ELO was the 2nd rock band I got interested in during the 70s. We played a lot of their music in band.....very cool band teacher 😎 👌 Eagles was the 1st rock band btw. I'd love to see you react to more of ELO and some Eagles as well. Any of the older rock bands would be great. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Heart, Boston. (The list goes on. Lol) Thanks for your great reactions. Enjoying the Ptx as well. 👍❤
Brings me back to being in a bar underage with an altered license.Great song, thank you for playing this. There is a LED Zeppelin song"The Battle of Evermore " covered by Heart live, that is just a tune everyone should hear at least once. Have a great day.
Jeff Lynne did a lot of producing... produced Tom Petty and George Harrison... then gathered his friends together to form a little band called The Travelling Wilburys (Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison).
The guy at 3:20 says it all - beaming grin plus enjoying every nanosecond inside a superbly lit Wembley with a version better than the studio version ..... a blinder .....
You'll notice most of the audience is of a "certain age" submerging themselves in the music of their youth....70's!! THE best band ever (and I include Queen in that assessment)
They performed Xanadu for the movie of the same name, also, their song Strange Magic was in the movie Moulin Rouge. I think also in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. But he’s been writing hits for decades. He was also in the Traveling Wilbury’s with George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison.
ELO is probably my family's most agreed upon band. Every one (including myself now) has a vinyl record of their work. And my parents named my Sister after Olivia Newton-John's character Kira, in Xanadu. (ELO made at least half the album for that movie.)
Keep going down the ELO rabbit hole and you'll have your mind blown. They are one of the most underrated and yet greatest bands of all time. Check out Tightrope and if you want to go on a real journey, Concerto of a Rainy Day. It's 18 minutes of rock bliss. Their hits are Living Thing, Strange Magic, All Over the World, Turn to Stone, and Don't Bring Me Down.
Electric Light Orchestra - Abbreviated E.L.O. never pronounced "eel o" but not a big deal Great music and reaction~! Evil Woman, Mr. Blue Sky, All over the World, Last Train to London, Don't bring me Down etc. Lots of music you have heard.
Parts of that song remind me of "Wings" on steroids, I wish Jeff Lynne and Paul McCartney would write and perform together. The part where he sings "Let it ring forever more".
Beside led zeppelin and the Beatles I've seen everyone I've wanted to see. This would have been a once in a lifetime experience being here that night. Who new ELO was so amazing. Me
You need to hear "Mr. Blue Sky". Rated the 2nd happiest song ever (that poll is wrong... it's the best). For this song you have to imagine a time before voice mail, no caller ID, and answering machines weren't in homes. You called and the phone just rang endlessly if no one answered. No clue if you were being ignored or if no one was even alive at that house.
ELO can provide lots of listening fun. A good start with any newbie is the classic long version of Mr. Blue Sky, as you’d probably recognize it. After that, they have a dozen top hits to consider.
Pronounced E L O like C I A. Name is Electric Light Orchestra and shortened to ELO. Many great songs by this band. Lynn was also instrumental in Tom Petty's, George Harrison's and Roy Orbison's comeback albums along with The Traveling Wilburys. Mr. Blue Sky is the song Baby Groot is dancing to on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2
I just subscribed. ELO is one of my favorites. Suggest you do The Traveling Wilburys HANDLE WITH CARE the video Supergroup all legends Jeff is a member.
Jeff Lynne is a member of ELO. I believe not every member of ELO was there and that is why the title is “Jeff Lynne of ELO”……if that makes sense. They had several big hits in the 70s and 80s……have a great weekend Travis
Among other reasons why it’s called “Jeff Lynne’s ELO” is because he’s not just any “member.” He’s a founder in 1970, the producer, songwriter, lead singer, and guitarist.
And there were some legal wrangling in the 80s/90s where the former members of ELO wanted to tour again. Jeff wasn't interested but they were and did as ELO Part ll where they played the past hits and produced a new album. Eventually, Bev Bevan (of the re-formed band) renounced using 'ELO' through a legal agreement, where Jeff would own 'all things ELO'. Also as no former members are in Jeff's new line up, it's therefore named Jeff Lynne's ELO to distinguish it from the historical, original band. JELO is basically Jeff + a collection of musicians recreating the sounds of ELO.
jeff Lynne is a genius and E.L.O. had loads of great songs. They sound better live than in the studio. You should listen/watch 'All Over The World' flashmob version.
ELO is considered the “Beatles of the 70’s”…….and even the Beatles members stated if they lasted into the 70’s they would be E.L.O…….not elo as you pronounced them. Jeff Lynne is the musical mastermind that writes, sings and produces all their music. Growing up in a household where rock music wasn’t allowed, I saw Xanadu in 1980 at the movies with my kids sister because Olivia Newton John was in it and after Grease, I was smitten with the blonde Aussie bombshell. I was amazed at the movie musical opener “I’m Alive” as well as the whole soundtrack and vouch the album. I learned ELO was on side ab and ONJ on the A side. Also Olivia Newton John is the only one other then Jeff Lynne to sing and ELO song…..Xanadu. This groups has more volume of favorite songs than any other group to date.
You've never heard of Jeff Lynne or ELO (not eelo) or the traveling Wilbury's.....good god what a waste, you're far too young to appreciate this level of music.
You sir have just been introduced to the magic of Jeff Lynne.

Everyone gangsta until the chorus hits and you're grinning like a baby.
That dude did this at 71 years old!!!!!
I sincerely believe that this is the best "live " performance video I have ever seen or heard! Jeff Lynne's ELO is fantastic!
ELO is such a unique and awesome group that produced such great songs. Travis you are so right in giving accolades to the film and production crew. I totally agree, but I totally glossed over that fact due to getting lost in this performance. The whole concert is EPIC. Thanks for the reaction. Take care.
Absolutely brilliant group 👏 I saw them at Wembley stadium in 1978 great concert.
I'm still enjoying their music now
Great 👍 reaction from you.
You're absolutely right, it is one of the best-lighted concerts I have ever been to.

Member of the traveling Wilburys, produced Tom Pettys first album.
He has no idea who this is and all the history behind them and he said the stage looks like a UFO....EPIC!
Felt really old and then just busted up laughing!
@@shellyt3946 ... Hey, it wasn't THAT long ago, just....45 yrs....YIKES!!!! I feel old now too.

Jeff Lynne was 70 years old here 😊
They are the Electric Light Orchestra, the unique lighting is their specialty, along with gorgeous music.
Iconic group with a unique sound that was so much fun.
Dudes been hearing Jeff's songs all his life and didn't know it lol. Ie rock and roll Hall of fame :D

Wembley Stadium, London, England.
Sounds as good as it did in 76 when it came out.
Rock on.
Its E.L.O = Electric Light Orchestra. :)

ELO had more hits in the UK and USA combined than any other group 1972 to 1986. You'll definitely know a lot of their songs.
from his opening line and unable to even say the name of the band properly somehow I doubt it.....he's too young and wasted on groups like ELO.
Brings me back to being in a bar underage with an altered license.Great song, thank you for playing this. There is a LED Zeppelin song"The Battle of Evermore " covered by Heart live, that is just a tune everyone should hear at least once. Have a great day.

Have you listened to any more ELO? My favourite band.
Back when music had melodies. Jeff is a musical legend. Second on my list behind Paul McCartney.
ELO was one of the very first bands to introduce violins, cellos etc to their live shows. A unique (at the time) sound with still sounds good today.
You'll notice most of the audience is of a "certain age" submerging themselves in the music of their youth....70's!! THE best band ever (and I include Queen in that assessment)

Checkout Tightrope. It wasn't released as a single but is a spectacular song.
I was torn between suggesting Tightrope and Telephone Line. I went with the memories associated with Telephone Line.
@@andreasparduhn1424
Telephone Line was a good place to start for a newbie. Tightrope is a premium choice when digging deeper into the catalog.
@@chronomatt6990 I disagree 100%, Matt. "Tightrope", is the quintessential ELO song, and therefore a perfect introduction to the band.
ELO is probably my family's most agreed upon band. Every one (including myself now) has a vinyl record of their work. And my parents named my Sister after Olivia Newton-John's character Kira, in Xanadu. (ELO made at least half the album for that movie.)

That "UFO" is the spaceship of Star Lord of the movie Guardian Of The Galaxy
ELO are Hitmakers !!!!!
You must watch the whole concert man. Jeff wanted to recreate the Studio sound at Wembley stadium. Tick! Their back catalogue takes a lot of beating.
Parts of that song remind me of "Wings" on steroids, I wish Jeff Lynne and Paul McCartney would write and perform together. The part where he sings "Let it ring forever more".

It is all Jeff Lynne. Writer, arranger, performer. And look up all the songs he has written for other artists. Prolific. Up there with McCartney.
The angst of telephone ghosting, well dramatized!
