Im just starting my rebuild and this guide and video set are superb, ive watched the entire thing but one thing I missed is the piston oil spray jets, did you remove them? I cant find the torque spec for them, any idea?
Yes, we did pull those out, either a 10 or 8 mm I think. I did hand tight on those, but next time I am in VIDA I will pull and post the spec, glad you're enjoying, there are still 2-4 more videos in the series coming up, the head is back off at machining currently addressing some issues that were missed on the first pass, but hopefully we are up and running in a week or two and moving on the more performance upgrade videos for this car... brake upgrade, more custom electronics, more custom interior.... stay tuned,
@@moosedroppings Thanks Joel, Yes 10mm almost same bolt as the water pump, im gonna use thread lock on them though. Another thing I just realised I overlooked is I didnt buy new crankshaft bolts so its down tools for a couple of days, looking forward to further episodes of this awesome series its been a huge help for me to decide to go for it, Cheers Andy
Nice video, new info about those shorter outer bolts, .. that is good clean information and clean work, very detailed.
Thanks for the support.
You measured main bearings clearance without any sealant between crank casings. Adding sealant at the final assembly wouldn't that affect the clearance?
The sealant only takes up about a thousand so it is so far down from the decimal point, that it doesn't really factor in once the full clamping force is applied with torque, good question!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.
How much do they charge to rebuild?
Well the complete rebuild was done by us, this was simply assembly done at a friends shop.... but, us using all performance race spec parts, and all new EVERYTHING, along with custom sleeving and such... $10K plus but for a standard T5 engine rebuild using factory and used parts, maybe $2000. Here is the article where we cover all the octs of the avilable rebuild options for this engine: www.importsauce.com/the-ultimate-volvo-t5-engine-rebuild-guide/
Thank you greatly. Id been looking for this exact type of video for a minute now in anticipation of my 2.3t5 build. Nice clear informative video
Just found this channel, great information when rebuilding the T5 engine. Looking at putting the T5 in my 240. Instant Sub
nice can't wait to see how it turns out,
What was the oil clearance on the bearings?
Love it bro, Nice 👍.. exciting… Your so helpful
Thanks for watching.

hi, My english is not perfect, but were i can find those Volvo torque nm specks and instructions?
here is a good reference we often use: www.swedespeed.com/threads/torque-spec-reference.66457/
I need my 1998 T5 wagon engine rebuild. And yes its MT 5speed with 320k on it and still drives new
Awesome. They run forever. Ours died at 160k just because we were bad about checking oil. This guild series will be almost identical for your wagon build
@@moosedroppingsThat one extra cylinder sure makes a difference huh? smoother?
