      There were a couple good sized leaks from that engine...

    Elring rear main seal. Notice it's leaking like they all do.

      Yeah I replaced it haha

    • @Ricopolico
      @Ricopolico 4 роки тому

      Used to use Elring rear main seals. They were made in Germany, were a lot cheaper than OE Volvo and they worked. Then, FCP sent me one made in PRC. Dumbass that I am, I had to call to find out where PRC (Peoples Republic of China) is. I saw where this was headed so I bought a bunch of Blue Box seals from TASCA.

    Nice video! So I noticed you had an M47 transmission originally. But you swapped from a dog dish flywheel to a flat flywheel. With this swap, did you use an M47 throwout bearing?

    • @new_spin
      @new_spin  5 років тому +1

      Yes it was an OEM Sachs throwout. Not sure if it was for an M47 but it was a Volvo part

      Honestly it's been a few years and I kinda forgot haha
      I wanna say like ~$3000?
      That's turn-key, and I opted for midrange clutch setup vs the base option one. I also did all the work myself of course
      I got the trans and driveshaft from a guy locally at a good price too

      The flywheel I got from STS Machining

      @@new_spin I see I can just use a 8.5" ford 10 spline disc, so that's easy, or the clutch you used. maybe I can contact STS machining to see which pressure plate style they recommend.

    How much did the entire swap cost you?

    • @new_spin
      @new_spin  6 років тому +1

      VENOSTRYKE all the parts were around $2,000 (USD)
      That was what I went with though as far as options on the clutch, the flywheel setup, and me getting a good deal on the trans/driveshaft.

      I don't recall all the parts, but if you hit up Yoshifab Josh should be able to get you all the info you need
      Off the top of my head it was his crossmember and driveshaft adapter, trans adapter plate, and clutch kit
      With an STS Machining flywheel because my car had an OBD1 engine swap and needed the crank signal reluctor cuts on the flywheel.
      Like I said let Josh know what you have engine/trans wise and he'll get you set up

  • @mattwilliams9949
    @mattwilliams9949 4 роки тому

    why wouldn't you change the rear main oil seal and clean the reused parts before putting it all back together. all that work and I still looks like a 30 year old volvo.

    • @new_spin
      @new_spin  4 роки тому +1

      I did change the rear main seal haha
      There was a leak from the FRONT main seal though causing quite a lot of sludge under the engine yhat traveled backwards so there was only so much I could do

      Kinda depends, I got my trans and driveshaft for a pretty good deal already. But some of the other parts like the actual adapter are harder to get any cheaper. I'm sure you can spec a more basic clutch though for sure, I went for the sportier option.
