17:45 I was surprised to learn this too. But it really does work. Evaporation is an endothermic reaction because water molecules must absorb heat from the surroundings to increase their kinetic energy and change them to vapours. That being said, it raises humidity. Thankfully that's not modelled in Rimworld
They take electricity, but swamp coolers use this effect and are very common in this part of the world. Living in an area with maybe 12% humidity in a wet day, I’m surprised how many people don’t know about these things
Its how charcoal refrigiration works. Its something you learn as a kid if you join a camping/survial club like the american boyscouts. You can cool a nice 6 pack with the remains of the campfire of the previous night.
@@alecwoodard9464A lot of it is because of the limited application. Most of the hot areas of the world where people actually live are also quite humid.

Here's an idea for a Rimworld game. A unified, large, Grid-Base. A base where everything, from storages to production, has a room fit into a unified grid-like structure. Each grid room has to be the same unified structure and you will most definitely need to make hallways. The grid can be either one wall thick or two walls thick, you can't have both. This means you HAVE to adhear to each room needing the wall logic to be separate. Each room can have more than one grid space. So if you need to have a larger room for your research area, remove a wall to link another grid spot. Example: Square grid with 3 by 3 rooms, allowing me to have the minimum space required for each room to function. Can expand most area's by giving them two to four squares for more leverage. This might need tunneler for tight spaces as these rooms can be small.
Heres an idea for a rimworld video: You start with 1 character and every day they mitose. Each new mitosed version of you had a 50% to be hostile. Each time they die theres a 1% chance of a good/ bad event. It should keep things a bit interesting.
make a medieval rimworld series and evolving from primitive to medieval, then pre-industrial and finally megatech would be amazing and you'd probably have fun Congratulations on the video
I really like your character that you used. It could be used really well to guide the eye of the watcher, because I for example don't really understand everything I see in RimWorld and a helping hand like your character would help me and others out.
Loving the video so! For a Rimworld challenge, I suggest what I call "the bleeding colony". Basically, you start out with a large number of colonists, and you cannot recruit anymore. Then every time a certain amount of time has passed, a random colonist is chosen to be killed, banished, etc, and you still cannot recruit, meaning your colony's will continuously grow smaller and smaller. Added more details below, but I wanted to give a basic description in case you just want to do your interpretation of the basic description, if you do choose it. For example, starting with 30 good colonists, at the end of the first every year, each colonist is given a different number from one to 30, and a random number is drawn. That colonist must be removed. Then a year later, each colonist gets randomly assigned a new number from one to 29, and the process begins again. Certain things could be done to improve the challenge, like making it so that when a raid spawns, banished Pawns still contribute half there base score value to the colony, so you don't get very easy raids later on. Or maybe dev mode them so that that the "bled colonists", are in some sealed off area where all their needs are met, but don't do anything for the colony, but are still adding to the base score? Another thing to add to it is that you don't get to strip a colonist before the choosing begins. If your guy geared in your top equipment gets chosen, well they toddle off with all that nice stuff on them. Another factor might be that you have to build as though you don't know you are going to lose one, so no building on 29 bedrooms because you know you will lose one. It may or may not be against the spirit of the challenge, but perhaps you can be allowed to recruit new colonists up to whatever the colony's current max is. So for example, if you are on year three, and your max is 28, but 4 colonists die, then you can only recruit 4 more to bring it back, but I leave that for any who want to do the challenge to decide, as well as if a mechinator would be against the passion or not. Of course, time frame of the choosing, and number of starting colonists can vary. As for the goal of the challenge, it could be standard rimworld, trying to get off the planet before being bled dry, an endurance test, to see how long you can last, with you no longer removing a colonist once it's down one, and he has to try and survive as long as they can what their past comrades helped them achieve. And finally, perhaps they are sentimental, not wanting to let go of the memory of the lost comrades, so you can't downsize your base, but instead have to try and maintain your large base with a shrinking pop.
