Hey folks, Me again. Dwarves this time, bit of an odd video because of... well, if you watch it you'll get it. so that's why it's going to be split into two parts.

u know i was so stupid about mech shields had cannon fodder of colonists to die to break the mech shield node so i can bombard it but then i realize o emp shells exist
for higher waves with winston id suggest trying compressed raiders
16:20 I've seen this a million times in my 1600 hours. Most of the time it is caused pawn.driver. which more or less is one of the pawns on the map trying to start the same job a billion times a second. Usually can be fixed by reloading like you did, but quite often if you rally your pawns and unrally them it can fix this as well because you essentially just stopped him from trying to do that job hence ending the infinite loop of lag.

what mod is the cement mixer from and the atvanced geothermal thing?
Multi-part series are nice, however the unfortunate truth aswell is that viewer retention drops the longer a series continues. So speaking from a purely analytical standpoint, it's probably best to just do these single-part videos.

When using Winston Waves a mod that allows everything to be burned in a crematorium helps with the junk. Additionally, there is a mod called compressed raiders which can limit the number of pawns that can spawn while buffing the ones that do spawn with weapons and bionics bought with the raid points of the unspawned raiders. So if you get a 200 pawn raid but you set compressed raiders to only spawn 50 raiders those raiders will turn up looking like an actual players endgame army.
There're also "non uno pinata" (makes so you can configure what stuff is dropped on the floor when pawn is downed/killed). It is just quite an awesome QoL mod in general
so good to see all the attention this channel is receiving recently, well deserved.
Seeing as you dont like insect events, you could use the "Better Infestation" mod, instead of them randomly spawning in your base, they will slowly make hatcheries from the edges, so if you dont clean it up as it comes it can become a problem

it is awesome, though be warned, it will kill your computer if you let it get too big before you deal with it, as rimworld is way too badly optimized to handled 500+ bugs patching around

Bro i hate the bugs spawning just magically under ground its such BS. I do the exact same thing. If i can dig into a mountain as my strong hold then i rather just not play.
I absolutely respect your decision of disabling infestations when playing with mining colonies, I get the idea of it as a gameplay element, making you keep your guard up but its one of those kinds of events that have a chance to happen in the most vital part of your base and instantly wipe out your colony.
I had an infestation literally happen in my nuclear reactor. You can only guess how that went
Even if it doesn't wipe out the colony, they can still chew through huge sections of your base, ruining it better than practically any ordinary raid would. Ugh.

If you want to not have a slow game with winston, use the 'compressed raiders' mod, itll make it harder to kill each raider, but you wont get hundreds of raiders at one... and since it has easy config options in game, you can choose how many raiders is sent out until they compress, and (i think) you can modify the buffs each raider gets...

I am really glad I found you. I really like your style, not having videos overly series. A 30 minute complete story is a fantastic change from most rim world content I've found. I wouldn't mind two or three part videos, but it is really nice that you do different things basically everytime!
I enjoyed that you explored the alternate timeline. The snap back to reality was a funny transition. Keep up the great work!

Okay actually the reason WHY Winston Waves breaks like that is because the mod is NOT designed to be switched on late game. Mr Samuel Streamer did something similar in one of his LPs and the game also kinda broke. You basically gotta commit to Day One with WW.
Also rock and stone, diggy diggy hole, that's going in the book, they dug too deep, and so on. I expect a Dwarf Fortress LP from this channel soon or I'll put in you in the book.

Molotovs work great in those situations where you get a bunch of corpses and random shit building up
Strangely I've never been able to get the burn-piles to work as well as I want them to. And the smoke is a bit of a pain now too
@@HazzorPlaysGamesput the burn pile in a stone box and use vents to flush the smoke out without risking your pawns
Do it outside ofc so the smoke doenst flood into your base and cause a nuclear detonation
Dunno if you tried RocketMan mod before, but it MAY help you with some of the performance issues due to how it calculates pawns simulation. It's labeled as unstable, but it's not as bad as the name suggests, so check it out with a fully loaded colony to see any improvements in end-game raids. There's also RimThreaded which seemingly tries to rewrite the entire simulation stack with support for multithreading, but it's way more unstable and compatibility with other mods is hit and miss, so RocketMan is a way safer option to try without being afraid to brick your colony on load.

Is there any chance of you giving a tutorial on combat extended? I've never understood it and most guides only focus on the ammo types.

My best guess about why randy was very aggressive is potentially because of the no insect faction as it'd be removing all base game infestations which were getting randomised into another negative encounter such as a raid
I remember my first RImworld game I got lucky inspired training twice with megasloths very very early. By the time I got to the mechanoid raids I had a squad of 6 fully trained. It was always really fun to have them unleashed to flank those stupid robots.
We are dwarfs and were digging a hole! Its awesome to see someone whos good at playing Rimworld I keep trying but I apparently suck at it lol so its nice to see someone get past the starting faze without the colony dieing out due to my own miss management and general want to see it go from 0 - 100 real damn quick. I love your content keep at it and I'll be looking out for the next one.

Hello. Found your channel recently and I love your vids, gotta say it! At one point, you were talking about shells keep missing, and I see you use CE. In CE you can make Binoculars (at a Machining Table I recall) and you equip it on a pawn and move him far away, and he acts as a Spotter for the Mortars, and it greatly increases the accuracy. Sincerely, not sure how well it works or how big the difference is, never tried it out myself. Keep up the good work

16:06 a fun idea to solve this is using the Rimfactory mod you can make a puller pull from a giiiiaaant stockpile to remotely bring everything in and either use Rimfactory to process it down however ya' want or do what I do and use the Shelf of Holding mod and just throw everything in the world on it. lol
hmm ,nha removing bugs to avoid infestations aint cowardly if you do it because you want to make a proper mountain base
since unlike dwarf fortress , rimworld you can only ever build on one floor lvl :/ and a proper mountain fortress would more or lees have a basement filled with nothing but angry constructs ready to clumber and feed lead to anything trying to dig into the place while the floors ABOVE that would hold crafthalls , munition stores etc , and same vs mechanoid pods.. uppr floors be nothing but reinforced structure and solid rock with flak cannon sunk into it at mathematical layouts, yet due to the 2d nature... you cant do that so fair to do it ''symbolic'' ;)

Honestly that's my biggest complaint with rimworld once you get to end game the raids are just stupid especially if tribals are still around you end up wiping them out just to stop the raids
I'd ask why you started with five dwarves and not the traditional seven, but Rimworld works best with population sizes 3-30 times smaller than DF's.

I agree on the infestation, like I like the idea but they really shouldn't be able to spawn so deep in your mountain base. Like id happily like large dangerous infestation that starts outside your base and tunnel in maybe idk

You can use Runtime GC to clean up between raids, it's especially useful lategame. Or just use the console to delete things

Not a coward for removing insects in most playthoughs, though I personally like the mods that make you deal with them in some other way, IE only unlit areas can spawn infestations(making solar flares dangerous inside under mountain bases), or researching tech and then needing to build it to keep them at bay.

Have you tried Rocketman?
It reduces per pawn ticks and reportedly can drastically improve performance when you get a lot of entities on map at once.
yeah so Rocketman doesn't seem to do much to me but I installed all the recommended performance mods and deeper into this colony it's feeling better.
Apparently Winston wave comes with some of his own performance issues, especially when added to a later game save file.
700+ hours on this game, and i was today years old when i finally learned that you can get rid of infestations bu removing the insect factions.
Which makes sense, i guess, bout i always figured out it was just part of a predetermined event pool that every narrator has.
Oh well, no more carpets made of bugshells or kibble made of insect goop.

Would you consider a plathrough where you cannot ever draft your colonists? You can only assign fight or flee responses, as many times as you want and whenever you want, but you cannot draft. And cannot force anything either!

I am also a coward who disables infestations when building a mountainhome. Granted, my colonies always get shafted anyway. But those insects can go suck on those early game overpowered shotguns!

to deal with those slog fest when dealing with bigger raids you can use the mod called compressed raiders... it helps a bit as well as it is highly customizable

im glad i am not the only one that turns off infestations when I play underground colonies. They really aren't fun in any way, they don't add anything, they just serve to annoy the shit out of me and everyone else living under the mountain
