karlach can probably jump the gap. also scroll of misty step are handy for situations like this. if you are worried about getting back. remember you have waypoints even if you don't find another path back.

What? He picked the lock on that gate?! I thought that was just straight up unpickable!
It was when I was there the first time, I didn't try the second time (used Mage Hand on the lever), and I just now found a video from a year ago recommending using Gale's Knock because you can't pick it. Another video shows Mage Hand failing, and uses Misty Step.

This game does allow for dual wielding hand crossbows without incurring the penalty for reloading them.
