Theres a much easier way to deal with the intellect devourers at the very beginning. When you first come upon them and they run off, go into sneak mode and sneak up just past the fire on the ground on your left side, wait there about 10 seconds and the intellect devourer on the ledge will climb down to the ground. As soon as its on the ground go into turn base and hit the nautiloid tank on the ground near it with a fire bolt. It will take at 2 of them in one turn and you'll only have to deal with one.

Cool, very informative video. I'm new to Baldur's Gate (I was finally able to buy it this past Tuesday 😅), so I really appreciate the info about which spells and cantrips are useful or fun.
Ive been doing a necromancy build for a whole party. Its REALLY frustraiting that there's basically nothing at low level. Something like the shadowblade spell from Xanathars could at least add some flavor, but that's level 2 so any Arcane Tricksters and Eldritch Knights couldn't use it until level 7ish. Some level 1 spells, especially melee focused ones similar to Divine Favor would be really nice for that. Plus more clothing options. If we could deck out the party in skulls and leathers that would look really on point. Maybe even some low level necromancy staves, bone weapons, etc would help.
Yeah necro doesn't really come online until level 6 and you're generally mod act 2 by that point. Kind of stinks that many other classes get a lot of their signature abilities at level 3 while is just a generic caster until 6.
I’m glad you liked it! We’ll see how soon I can pump it out. Been extremely busy at work the last couple of months. Hopefully I get some downtime soon!

Nice vid ! About the gloves you stole from the Zhentarim, later in ACT 3 when you can summon i think 5 Ghouls or so, they will never get mad because they count as demonic creatures, they get the free bonuses from the gloves and you dont have to fear about them turning against you haha, at least they never turned against me, it should be your permanent gloves in act 3 as soon as you read the necromancy of thay again. Keep up the great content! :D + if you pre buff all your summons with Longstriders and so on they can literally solo everything and you can just sit back and watch haha. Cant wait for patch 7 so i can do a Drow Necromancer Minthara romance bad playthrough and dominate the whole world ^^

After getting your hands dirty with Karlach, you should have gone and sacrifice Wyll to the Kua-Toa Oh and get nakes when you get the Loviathar buff, it gives you a +4 to your rolls for that event. And you could go Highelf and start with the Druid Class for one level for armor+shield prof. Highelf also gives you the sleep immunity and of course the Cantrip+longsword prof. Dualwielding Phalar Aluve+that lightning staff could be nice early on and with dual wield feat, its one armor lost from using a shield (unless you go for the bracers with +2, then it would be even one more) P.S. your lucky with your amount of "friends" use. In my runs i got like 90% chance for it to turn enemys hostile xD
I’m liking this, and it’s inspiring me to try my own play through. But what was that bit with the spiders right before grymforge? I’ve yet to see that.
It’s the spider cave under the house where the goblin ambush leader is at blighted village (gotta lock pick) or fall down the hole in the house next to it.

The Necromancer subclass really starts at level 6 with stronger undead summons. Before that i presume you are also using the minor illusion + cloud of daggers trick?
No illusions here! Though I do lean on cloud of daggers quite a bit, I mean who wouldn’t? But the illusion > daggers combo can be super cheesy which is why I avoid it. But yeah it’s the main spells I use are Firebolt, Thunderwave… lots of thunderwave. Cloud of daggers and Magic Missile.
Danger with Cloud, or any AoE that persists, is that NPCs have a tendency to walk through it thereby ruining a mechanism or interaction (Kahga fight, owlbear cub, harpies). Basically any time and NPC is in the fight with you there is a good change they'll just walk through damage vs avoid it. Enemies will avoid your darkness, fog, or hunger but those damned allies just walk right through it.
Kind of counterintuitive, but it's better to take no subclass spells on level up, because scribing them from scrolls is cheaper than other spells. It's not great for role-playing, but it's the most efficient way
The whole meme that magic users are "squishy" is pretty common, so I cant hate that you use it like most people. However, I am not so sure it is just an innocent joke anymore since the next dnd edition...update(?)...whatever it is, does not seriously address the issue. As long as magic users are the most "tanky", can do the most damage, and are the most flexible, you are going to have a game where half the classes become nearly obsolete at some point in a campaign, which isnt a great vibe IMO. Apparently though, WotC does not realize that the meme is just a meme and will not until people start calling them out on it.
