Real world solution solver he is. Thanks for the video. I guess the blink camera system isn't good behind a glass window. I know for sure the Ring stick up cams don't detect anything behind a glass window.
Thank you. I came across this video and I was so happy. You are great instructor. Thank you for sharing your knowledge at a level that anyone can understand.👍🏻❤
Your idea of sticking a motion activated light on the window is brilliant (pun intended). I use a Wyze Camera one of my windows, but instead of sticking it, I put it on the window sill.
I had the Wyze set up already up against the window and had the night vision off. I never thought of putting a motion sensor led to get a better picture. It was just what I needed. Awesome in-depth video.
Thank you for this video. I followed your suggestions step by step and my set up turned out great! I appreciate you taking the time to make videos like these for people like myself. I wouldn't have even known where to start!!
With some of the newer windows, the top of the window will actually allow you to use the magnetic base to keep the camera in place, so no need for the cost of the extra mount. I have 4 of these set up like this. Cleaned the glass, and have the camera flush with the window. I have triple pane windows and the picture is perfect in 1080p. The street light provides enough light so that you don't have the issue with the infrared LED's. Pick up a 32GB MicroSD card and you'll have continuous recording for about 4 days before it starts over writing the oldest recorded video.
The camera can be attached to the window glass without a shelf. Stick the metal disc to the window glass. The stand on the camera can be positioned in such a way to magnetically mount the metal and have the face of the camera against the window.
Excellent video . Straight to the essentials no messing . Very comprehensive, with various solutions and tests . You should teach people how to make videos for UA-cam . We just need the facts ... I don’t like it when people talk about things that don’t relate to the video topic...I don’t have time!! Thanks for you video man . Much appreciated !!
I needed to see this video so bad lol our Wyze cams have this issue when facing out of our windows. We rent so we can’t install much. The stick on light outside is the perfect solution that we needed. Our landlord refuses to buy cameras even tho it’s 2022!! I’m going to Home Depot to buy those today. You’re a life saver. 🙂
Hello and God bless. First time to your channel, and find it very informative. You explain everything in plain language, so a none tech person like myself can understand. Thank you for taking time to help me secure my home, family.
EXCELLENT Review. Excellent language skills, great information excellent technical details (audio land video) One of the best on UA-cam ever. Thanks and best wishes.
Thanks for the great video. I wanted to share another great product wi-fi bulb by wyze. You may use wyze cam, motion sensor and wi-fi bulb at the same time to set up a security system. And it is only around $50. Plus you will have two contact sensors that you may use for front and back door. When the motion detects any motion then bulb will be turn on and your wyze camera can record it. The good side of this system is no battery needed so you do not need to worry about battery life on your lights.
So Funny I looked up this Over Lite on Amazon, and when I added to my shopping List under the Caption it says "Customers who bought also Bought, and it has those Window Mounts and 2pak Wyze Cams LOL Perfect !!!
Excellent video. The companies you recommend should indeed be funding your work. I like the way you show your cameras in action by walking into the scene. Perfect!
This video answered my question about a Wyze cam through a window. The IR reflects badly on a window, especially double pane windows. Another option is a dawn to dusk switch on the outside light. The light turns on at dusk and off at dawn. Well, at least as long as painters don't paint over the light sensor. Some builders include this in new homes. Thanks for the video. The battery operated motion sensitive light is ingenious. Well done.
Great information and video. One suggestion: when mounting Wyze cam in window, simply stick the adhesive side of the magnetic disc that comes with it on the top of the lower sash and then mount the camera. Then you can still open and close the window if you leave slack in the cable.
Great review. My Wyze cams worked great out the windows. One has a porch light that automatically turns on at dark and another switches to black and white at night. It's a great option for someone that doesn't have wiring outside or someone like me that is disabled and can't climb a ladder to install a cam outside.
Great advise, thank you, I purchased one, then saw how amazing it was and bought four more. I don't see the greatest reviews on the Pan though, any thoughts? I did buy one but haven't set it up yet!
I set two wyze cameras inside of two windows and they work, record motion and give an incredibly clear picture just as well as the inside cameras do. You have to cut off the IR night vision mode and it works perfect at night.
Thank you soo Much for an amazing video, There are hundreds of wyze camera videos but non of them are as detailed and articulated and addressing the issue of proper placement as this one does , Again thanks for the great work! ( i was going to drill a small hole in my glass window to tread the wire out to place the camera but I don't have to do that now. I also thought of using a plastic jar and using it as an outdoor enclosure to weatherproof my existing wyze cam
Somebody tried breaking into my car last night, I was sleeping not 10 feet away from the car. Car alarm woke me up. Ran outside half naked and all I found were his tracks. My dog tracked his scent a little but I wasn't going to chase him down at 2 AM. This video is helpful because few people mention that PIR doesn't work well behind glass. You probably saved me $200, plus 2 weeks shipping and return time. Will be sharing the video.
I love your videos. Can you do test of the Dahua LOOC LeChange C26EP please? I see that its also known as the Lorex 1080p Active Deterrence WiFi Camera. Thank you! I have the Wyze cam and this is exactly what I wanted to do with it. Also thanks for the links to the shelf and solar light. Both great ideas.
I've been researching and shopping Wyze cam for the last year (since they launched). I live in a large apartment community and some concern about how to mount them. One of the options was to mount it inside at the window exactly as you have it but was worried about activation and glare as well. Thank you for the how to video and the extensive product testing for this set up. Dave Crosby and everyone at Wyze Cam should be sending you a check or at least products for testing, you're that good.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You are a genius! I already have a $350 nest cam in my backyard, but I can only see half of my yard. I am hesitant to spend $350 more dollars! This is BRILLIANT!!!!!!
Your video is much appreciated. After a recent uptick in package thefts, I purchased the Wyze camera yesterday and hope to implement such a set-up soon. Will definitely pick up one of those motion-sensing lights!
Which camera can continuously record? I want to record my parking lot where my car is. I can't install any exterior stuff because I'm a renter. Would have to be behind a window as well.
Another great video. This is exactly what I needed. There have been a string of break ins in the past month or so not far from me. This will give me peace of mind. Thank you for taking the time to do this. It's so affordable and a lot less than an outdoor camera. I think this will help out a lot of people out there.
Motion detection works perfectly. App can be used to see everything going on in cameras viewing area. Voice or noise detection wont work because the camera is on the inside. And the motion is in real time. I LOVE my WYZE XAM!
The black window mounts are great for straight but almost useless for angled cams. SO does anybody have some option like maybe using a black cloth or something that works for them?
You can buy an outdoor housing now for both models ptz and wyze 2 on amazon and ebay, you can also buy an outside IR illuminator that works perfectly, lights up my whole front garden but obviously casts no visible light.
Top vid tnks, I use a foam ring attatched on my outdoor camera housing glass and the cam lens as close as possible to the foam ring. No glare or reflection. Its similar when using indoor glass window.
Good advice but if people have sash windows like you and you position it there can you lift up the bottom pane or lower the top pane in the summer with the camera stuck to it?.
I clicked your Wyze cam link, but bought the 2-pack. I hope you get credit for that. Thanks for making your videos. Even a tech dummie like me feels empowered to do something because you explain everything so well. If the eufycams are a good deal after Thanksgiving, I plan to buy the 2-cam set. ^^
From the first day i have had my WYZE cam 1 its been in my window facing out to the parking lot. I thought everyone knew how easy it is to do this. And mine is also at an angle where it catches anyone who comes to my door. Is all of this big news???
If you were close to me I would ask if I could give you a big hug! We are seniors who rent and have sketchy neighbors that unfortunately the time has come to keep an eye on things outside. Since we're on limited income, I have been researching the most economical way to do this. I believe I've hit the jackpot here. Thank you ever so much for taking the time to share this information.
Very detailed explanations. You answered all my questions. I need one in my double glass window just in front my fire scape. I caught a guy looking through the window there and I was at home., If I put any lights outside anyone can take it. I have watched videos about the wyze and it is just what I would like to installed but I have to check more my options. Thanks
@@LifeHackster You don't need to try it - Wyze added a feature where you can turn off the IR LEDS so you can use it effectively through the window without glare
That's my major issue I'm having. The glare. I turned the infrared off and installed motion lawn LEDs and I put motion LEDs on above my door. Hopefully that helps
just mount it outside ...i have used my wyze cam outside for over a year without an issue and there are plenty of metal places to stick the cam to...if it dies , just replace it...its cheap
True. This is for people that really can't put anything up outside and they don't have to worry hiding the wires so that it will not be easily pulled or cut off.
Brandon Mitchell Where do you plug it in? That's the problem, without having to drill holes and hide the power cord, otherwise someone can just come and unplug it.
@@FreddietheFly I use an adapter on my porch light that installs between the bulb and the receptacle that has a USB port on it. You have to keep the light on, but we do anyway, so it's an option that worked for us. Also our camera is mounted high enough that even myself at 6'5 can't reach it without some nice closeup shots being uploaded to the cloud before the power is pulled.
We just bought 4 with the bookshelves plus four Lemontecs with four OverLights. Your video here convinced us. Our two concerns is not having the ability to view clips on our PC and not having the option for battery for outdoors mounting. We do not have many outdoor 120v plugs. Thanks for the evaluation for the Wzse cam. We bought the Cam Pan due to the ability to track the moving person. We just hope it works thru double paned glass in color.
Excellent video and explanations. Your tip about turning off the night vision mode helped. I just bought a TP-Link KC120 security cam (which works very well) and have it placed inside my living room window overlooking my front yard, driveway, and front porch. I was getting a terrible glare at night which made it unusable. I turned off the night vision and I have an excellent picture now. I have a very bright front porch light. Thanks again for the information.
you don't need the shelf for the wize cam, stick the metal circle plate to the glass with the included 3m tape. Then attach the base to the metal plate hanging the camera upside down, then invert the image in the setup.
Thank you...I haven’t thought of that. I’m actually doing an update video about this setup and my solar lights and I’ll be sharing this info with the community and I’ll be giving you a shout out and credit. Thank you.
Wow, thank you. I have an apartment situation and wondered about setups for windows. You totally gave me the solution I was looking for. Awesome. Totally liked and thumbs up. I will check out your other videos too. Thank you for your generosity. I'll pay it forward somehow.
David, my car is being vandalized and l need a cam in my window. I'm assuming you have the Logitec Circle 2 am l correct? If so does it work well in low lighting?
I bought a Car Window Windshield Glass SUCTION Cup Mount and a Stand Clip Bracket Holder Tripod Mount Adapter, took my Yi cameras off the stand and clipped to the adapter. Then I placed it really tight and flat against the window. Also turned off night vision and my outside lights are always on so I have no problem seeing at night. As long as your camera lens is completly flat against the window you dont get any flares.
I mounted my Wyze cam to the side of the window frame magnetically with the included mount! Quickly learned to turn off night mode and have a Hue bulb on my porch which was already going on at night 👍🏼
Did the same and it works great. If you want to open the window, just remove the camera. I have to say the WYZE camera is pretty damn great at a very inexpensive price.
Thanks! I am going out to buy 2 more wyze cams today. I'll get a simple metal fixture at the hardware store & double sided sticky tape since the Wyze V2 has a magnetic mount. 👍 Your vids are very helpful!!
I bought two wyze cameras and the red lights were set as off but there was still glare. Thank you so much for the suggestion about the lights. Just purchases 3 on amazon!
I use the WYZE cam through the window and they work perfectly. I have one in my front office, facing the front door. It is the $20 stationary model. The other is the rotating $30 model an my daughter does house sitting so she takes this one with her on her sit jobs and it also works perfectly. She places it in the entryway of the homes she sits in. We have that camera linked to both here phone as well as our phone and can monitor any motion at the home she sits at, in case of any intruder or instance where she would need our help. We love WYZE.
Great info. Thank you Mr. Hacker. How do I get the Wyze cam to record on the SD card? The recordings go right to my phone. I can't find the answer at Wyze. I love their cameras. Their pan camera is super and works 150+ ft down at the garage.
Just plug in the micro SD card and go to the gear icon -> advanced settings-> local recording -> toggle to ON and choose if you want to "record events " or "continuous recroding"
Suburb explanation with a straight to the point delivery. Far better than anybody on the WYZE team!!! 🤙Thank you so much for making this video, you’re awesome‼️‼️
Thank you so much for your suggestions! I put a Wyze cam in the front bedroom to monitor my driveway. At night the glare was so bad I couldn’t see anything but the blinds. I turned off the night vision and voila, crystal clear! I didn’t need a light or anything. A happy customer here😆

The Wyze cam should be able to view in double paned glass.. there will be some glare depending on the lighting...
I wish the Wyze notification was a lot quicker.
I know. It is around 15-20 seconds.
@@LifeHackster how do you get it make your google home or was tht alexa announce that there was a motion event though,
Excellent video and explanations.
Thank you.
Good information.. i have several wyze cameras.
Thanks.
Excellent vidéo/review ...I loved it! It makes weeks I’m wondering about doing this...thanks again good work!
Thank you.
you don't need the shelf for the wize cam, stick the metal circle plate to the glass with the included 3m tape.
You are welcome..
you don't need that stand it comes with a magnet that you put right on the glass
How about rigging up an infrared light source on the outside and disabling the infrared light from the camera. that could be a good system
That should work too...
I have circle 2 window mounted and it’s pretty accurate. You get a clear180 field of view from a window. Tried out.
Cool.
At night? No glare ?
Cool. Except I have double pane windows and the outside glass is the one causing the glare.
I have double pane too and no issue. Not even well lit except my added IRs on the porch. Looks and works great.
Your vids are very helpful!!
I bought two wyze cameras and the red lights were set as off but there was still glare. Thank you so much for the suggestion about the lights. Just purchases 3 on amazon!
You are welcome.
Wyze just came out with new cameras that have a MUCH better night vision.
Thanks for the tips! Do you know how to get Alexa to announce notifications on the wyze cam?
You will need to get their wyze sense..motion sensor.and install it outside ..then you can make a routine.
That’s a great idea. I guess the owner of the house she sits in gave her access to their WiFi network for Wyze to be able to get connected.
She used the WI-FI on her phone. She didn’t need the WI-FI from the homeowner.
MAN YOU REALLY ARE A HACKSTER LOL. THAT'S WHY I WATCH EVERY VIDEO YOU UPLOAD. CAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU MAY LEARN FROM WATCHING
Thanks.
I prefer the pixel motion detection, but for battery life the cordless ones use PIR so they leave the video off entirely u til motion is detected
Why not use a infra red lamp with motion sensor?
That is a great idea too...I like the color recording though.
Do you have a current video about widow options????
Here is my latest window setup -> ua-cam.com/video/-YJpV7lnjUY/v-deo.html
Suburb explanation with a straight to the point delivery.
Far better than anybody on the WYZE team!!!
🤙Thank you so much for making this video, you’re awesome‼️‼️
Thank you so much for your suggestions! I put a Wyze cam in the front bedroom to monitor my driveway. At night the glare was so bad I couldn’t see anything but the blinds. I turned off the night vision and voila, crystal clear! I didn’t need a light or anything. A happy customer here😆
Bravo Sir! clear, articulate and current product information , profiling the precise surveillance issues I needed. Happily SUBSCRIBED!
Excellent! Thank you; shows me exactly what I need to do to set up my Wyze cam v2 which will be arriving this Monday,
You are welcome.
During night to help with the night vision glare, what about putting a piece of anti glare sheet in front of the camera?
Outstanding video! I've been considering doing just what you describe, and this video has shown me the correct way to do it. Thanks!
Thank you. I appreciate it.
