Hey Brett - so two things: 1. TinyCam on Fire TV. :) 2. Come over to the forums to see if we can help with getting your 2nd functionality working. Lots of people working with Alexa, Fire TV, and Wyze there doing things like this. Community.automatelife.net
Hi Automate your life, I stay in South Africa. I bought a nets cam indoor cam, it works great and I like it, however, I am interested in the nest aware subscription and does seem to allow e to subscribe, what do u suggest is the best replacement for nest cam that I can be able to record
South Africa is a tough one to have cloud recordings in...I'd probably buy something that you could record locally to, and the cheapest would be Wyze. You wouldn't bother with checking cloud recordings I don't think. Just put in a micro SD card and locally record
I had to insert my sd card several times, including a few when I heard the tink tink but the camera still said no card installed, but on about the 4th tink tink the camera accepted the card and things went smoothly - so you may need to be patient
I just got the pan cam pretty damn great for the price. I have an issue where I'm not getting any notifications at all. Do I have to sign up for their monthly subscription in order to be able to receive notifications?
No you don't! Notifications are free! You just have an issue there. Try playing with the settings and talking to their support about the issues you're having if it persists.
Hey Brian, your video is very helpful. I set the Wyze 2.0 up and didn't think that I was getting full functionality, even after viewing Wyze's site. They suggested using no higher than 32gb MicroSD card because going higher could cause problems. So I bought it before I found your video. Bummer. Still, it will help until I obtain a larger card. Thanks for the very useful info. Guys like you often outshine the manufacturer with in-depth analysis. Keep it going!
Well thanks! I'm certainly trying to outshine vendors! I'd actually like them to come for me...so life goals! No higher than 32 GB sounds ridiculous to me to be honest, so I'm glad you found this.
"*Note: The camera will recognize larger cards (64GB+) that use exFAT, but these cards are less stable and are more likely to experience issues in the long run. While there are ways to force larger cards onto the FAT32 format, they are less likely to be recognized by the camera and may corrupt your data." Bit vague. Here's someone else on using a 128GB card: "I had to format my 128GB card using my computer first, and specifying FAT32 as the format. Once I did that, I popped it into my Pan and had to format it again, this time using the camera, before it was usable."
If you get tired of my questions I don't blame you if you don't answer LOL when using the SD card in your wyze cam is it better to just let it continuously record over top of the old recordings or should you format it once every three months once a month? Formatting the car often will that damage the card? From what I read I thought it had to be a fat format 32 maximum ? Thanks again
No problem with the questions! You know what might be a good idea though? Is to head over to community.automatelife.net! There are lots of automaters there answering and asking questions! As for formatting the card, I never found I had to. You won't really hurt an SD card reformatting it in most cases, especially with the quick formats (yep, Fat 32 format). They don't really do anything except remove what is called pointers from the file structure and the rest of the file remains. It's just that your PC/Mac doesn't recognize it as a file any longer. So actually...most formats these days do nothing. :)
Best description of the Sd card function! I wanted to see if there was a free work around of being about to record more detections without a subscription
I bought a wyze cam pan, along with the basic sensor kit and a pack of their wyze bulbs. Ever since installing some of these, my wifi router routinely reboots itself throughout the day. It never did this before. Do you think there's any relationship to the Wyze gear being on the network?
@@AutomateYourLife Quite a few, actually. Probably well over 20 when you add up 3 laptops, 2 ipads, 1 chromebooks, phones, printer, other security camera (Zmodo), 2 smart tv's, and now a wyze cam pan, a couple of wyze bulbs, wyze motion sensor... Could that (or a combination thereof) be overwhelming the router? They obviously aren't all running all the time, but that seems like quite a few.
Yeah so you can have your routers paging file fill up and that can cause reboots. It depends on the router, but this sounds a bit that way if you've got a cheapie!
Hi there, very good video. I am new to working with IFTTT, but I "think" I am going to purchase some Wize cams soon. Would it be possible to use IFTTT to snap a photo of a motion event and email it to myself? This is a feature that I am used to with other cams, like a Samsung cam I have in my office. It (to me) is a quicker way to do a quick check to see if I need to follow-up on an event or not... rather that scrolling through a lot of small clips in their app. What do you think?
Hi Randy - This is part of the existing notification on a Wyze Cam these days. You actually get a screenshot as part of the push notification. In terms of sending that photo elsewhere...I think that's actually a bit tricky. I can't currently come up with a way. IFTTT allows the recording of clips but not picture taking.
Hey Michael - I think you could use a number of things! I mention SmartThings, and this is one of the reasons I use them so much. Their sirens would work through IFTTT, as there's an action for Sirens and Strobes right there! I also saw actions with D-Link Siren, Arlo, Somfy Protect, Scout Alarm, Futurehome, iSmartAlarm, SpotCam, and Aura. Now not all those would necessarily have a siren, but you can look at them all. Again, SmartThings. Makes it easy :)
How could I utilize this remotely let's say I have a farm and want it to send me notifications could I use sensors to trigger ? I already no how I could solve the battery problem I would just attach a battery pack
Right, so the next thing is network for notifications. You'd need an option there to get notices, or you could just record locally on to an SD card and check it every so often. Many telecom ISPs offer a small data plan for something like this. It's not cheap though.
There's a quirk maybe you could help every time the internet messes up I have to reboot the router which is not too often but and doing so the cameras disconnect. The only way I can find to put them back on its to delete them from the wires account and reinstall them. Do you know of a better way? Like on the Alexa app there is a button error to change Wi-Fi or update Wi-Fi can't remember which. There I just click on it Andre put the wi-fi information and I'm ready to go. I can't find any such option in the wise app. Thanks
It sounds to me like your Router is struggling to keep up with the amount of devices you have. I don't think there's an easy solve here, except to start looking at other WiFi solutions. You're likely having to reboot because the router can't actually regain most connections, and so I'd say you have just a few too many for this router.
Hi Brian wanted to ask if this camera has to be plugged in to an electrical supply and also will the camera work with a chip installed and no Wi-Fi connection thanks
@@AutomateYourLife thank you for your reply my phone has Wi-Fi on it and I could download the app to my phone would that be sufficient for setup even though it wouldn't support the camera when I'm away would I still be good to record on the SD card
ooooh, no...that's not going to work. You need a second device. Try a tablet. Then connect both to phone's wifi and then use tablet to set up Wyze. Once you do that once, it'll work :)
Hi Brian, sorry for jumping on an old video to ask a question, but what is the biggest SD Card for the Wyze Cam V2 and the Pan Cam as ive just ordered these from Amazon to the UK. Nice work as always and thanks in advance.
Hey there - I think 128 GB is just fine, and I've heard of people using larger. I wouldn't go much larger and go too deep simply because they get warm and over time, I think you'll lose the card. :)
I just got one and your video is great but after inserting the Micro SD card, the app doesn't recognize it. I've popped it out, back in. Checked and it's already formatted FAT32. Not sure what else it could be. The Card is a Sandisk Extreme 32GB. Any Ideas?
@@AutomateYourLife I reformatted the SD card on my Mac, FAT but it's still not recognized. I'm at a lods. This is a new SanDisk Micro SD card. Thanks anyway and thanks for all your Google Home videos!
Wyze _really_ should improve the video scrubbing feature on Wyze Cam V2, if they can. Trying to find an event that's been recorded to the sd card with the continuous recording option, without knowing what day/time the aforementioned event occured, is an extremely tedious, frustrating and discouraging task.
Can the recordings on the SD Card (greater than 12 seconds) be accessed over the internet or do you have to have the actual SD card or be on the local network?
Documentation says max size on the card is 32G, it that incorrect? Just how large can we go, 128G? 256? You didn't mention it but when the card is full, it deletes the OLDEST recordings, yes? Thanks.
So it used to say over 32 GB was just fine but they no longer recommend it. I've seen success at 256 GB before, but I recommend smaller ones just because these cards get warm and can be ruined over time. It does delete the older recordings when full!
@@AutomateYourLife Thanks! Only thing I wish this supported was computer viewing, vs. phone/tablet, ideally via web browser. I know there's experimental/beta software to do it but would prefer something that "just works", like the app. Seems like it wouldn't be hard since it's already on the network but what do I know? :)
The concern is voltage drop (and therefore current increase too). There are ways around this, but without calculations I'm not going to recommend it. Basically a longer cable has more resistance/impedance and that will lower your Voltage over the length of a cable. Once that happens, in order to make the camera work, the current goes higher and...that's bad news. So you need to calculate it, or you need someone to sell you a cable that is rated for the amperage, voltage, and the run length.
@@AutomateYourLife I found a website and said if you ran the adapter and ethernet you can go alot farther. Why did they use micro usb ports, almost the to make with ethernet ports instead
PRIVACY NOTE: You can turn the cam off if you want privacy but keep in mind that anyone you’ve shared it with can turn it off and on too. 😱 So keep that in mind when sharing!
Oh great! This is an older one too! We have a whole new series of videos that might help today: Part 1 - ua-cam.com/video/eaZBo6QSMPg/v-deo.html Part 2 - ua-cam.com/video/lr2ZB2-R1VA/v-deo.html Part 3 - ua-cam.com/video/bKpLWqG2MAI/v-deo.html
Awsome glad it still does. I have one that keeps randomly going offline every so often. Other then crappy internet I'm not sure what's causing it as the other 3 are completely fine
Could just be the exact spot it's in. WiFi is a tricky thing. If you have an Android, get an app called WiFiMan and then hold your phone/tablet near to where your Wyze cam usually is and see if the WiFi strength is changing or there is big interference. It's on the channels page. Also, do a test. Take down your WiFi and make sure your camera is working to record to the SD card. :)
Hi Janet - It's exactly 4 times the amount of space, so it's exactly 4 times the time you can record for. It's going to be based on the resolution you're recording in as well, so it can vary a bit.... General rule of thumb from Wyze: 7 Days at SD recording level, 2 Days at HD recording level.
Say I did buy 1 or more WYZE cameras Do I understand i can use my iPhone to see real time & or recorded stuff I have 2 iPads can I use one of those as a MONITOR while at home as a constant source of viewing ??? WHILE say I went to market I can use my iPhone when away from home On a older note i have 2 Amazon fire tablets (I think that’s what there called) I never use them can I use them as a constant sourde of viewing while at home ??? I am not savy to electronics at all thus i ask your opinion as your smart to stuff like this Thanks
You can watch with any of those as long as you get the Wyze app on them. I don't have a newer Fire Tablet at the moment, so you'd have to see if you can get the Wyze app on them still. But yep, to all of it.
Excellent video, Brian. But why wouldn't you always just set the SD card to continuous recording? And specifically, does the card "wear out" after so many times of being recorded over? Keep up the great work.
Hi there B-9 M-3. Thanks! So lots of folks use continuous recording and it is definitely a great feature. I did an update of this video actually very recently and it explains when to use that feature. Check that video out here: ua-cam.com/video/eaZBo6QSMPg/v-deo.html The other question about the SD card. Flash memory like this does wear down over time and I've seen a bit of accelerated dying of cards in the Wyze cameras. That's just historical, anecdotal data not real measured data though.
Thanks for a very well done informative video. I just bought two of these tiny cameras. My question is, can you use larger than 32 gb sd cards? I'm going to order a couple of them from Amazon but I want to buy the largest cards that I can as long as they are compatible. Thanks again.
Hey Ray, yep! Go ahead and go larger. Don't overspend though on the cards, as I've seen a few get broken down over time by heating. Just keep it properly powered and you shouldn't have that issue though!
@@AutomateYourLife Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and did the setup on one camera in my office. It's going to be out on the driveway. Can I pull the power until I get it installed without losing what I just did in setting it up?
I don't really have an interest in using the Wyze Cam phone app to view live video. All I want to do instead is just view the cam live over my home wifi network using the camera's native IP address. Is that possible? Or, is the cam phone app the only mechanism for viewing?
So you can set it up with RTSP and then there are a number of ways to view the camera with that IP. Have a look at this video to get an idea of what you can do: ua-cam.com/video/12xmbzbw5E8/v-deo.html
@@AutomateYourLife Thanks The problem is that I do not get any notification on the iphone that a recording is happening even though I have the send notification on
Another little thing if you may, I noticed for the Wize there's Wize Cam v2 and Wize Cam Pan, the Pan model is less expensive in Canada, so I guess the standard cam V2 is newer than than pan. If yes is it worth it the have the V2 sacrifying the pan functionality?
I love the WYZE cam and app that comes with but Can't get it to stream on my Google nest home device. I took it off my home and added it back but all i get is a long LONG delay and then a blank screen. It's like they aren't communicating or it's just too much for the Nest display to handle! Is there something else I should be doing? PS WHY WHY does Google have to keep Canada in the dark ages when they release an update??? Are we getting them later than the USA by much? M
Hey Michael, a number of users have struggled with the delay with Wyze and I really think it's just the way Wyze has grown so fast. As for Google....Change your language to English US and you will rarely notice a difference! I don't!
You need the trigger to record events, and in order to trigger, you'll send a recording to the cloud. However, you can turn off all events and then just locally record continuously to the micro sd card. That works.
Will these and IFTTT still work with the new Google Nest line? I have heard that google will be only allowing their stuff, nest cams to use their platform.
I don't think you'll have that integration opportunity, sadly. It's not entirely clear though. I have a video being prepared for Saturday about that. SmartThings integration, Alexa Integration, both remain possible!
Can you do a new video on the Wyze cam with the new update, I don’t know how to set it up to continuous recording with my sd card installed. Since the new update I can’t do it. Or don’t know how to. I really appreciate it.
Hi George - If you're having these things, it's often mostly related to delays in your WiFi. You probably have a good internet connection, but your router may be having trouble keeping up with all the devices. The Wyze cam could also be struggling maintaining a connection. Honestly, this changed my whole Wyze experience: ua-cam.com/video/rJkAR1e1Gpc/v-deo.html
Hey Brian! I have a question (nothing to do with this video). I have a smart home but I just reached the limit of devices connected to mi 2.4 ghz network. I would like to know if there is a way to connect more devices to the same network. Thanks! I really need your help.
Hey Hector - There are a number of ways! 1. New router that can handle more - We have a video on choosing a better router for your smart home: ua-cam.com/video/ien8faozZSY/v-deo.html 2. With a new router, offload what devices you can to 5 GHz, leaving 2.4 GHz clearer and able to accept more. 3. Get a mesh network going, or 4. Use some extenders to offload some of the direct device interaction with your router. This could slow down some devices so you'll want to be a bit picky as to what will be on the extender.
I've had the same problem. I set up a wireless access point on a different floor driven by a powerline adaptor. This seemed to balance the load out on my main router and allowed more devices to connect on the 2.4. (Don't use a repeater! Ensure your device is in AP mode with the dhcp server off) However, if you've used up a whole 255 devices you would need a second router using a differnet subnet. (ex: 192.168.X.1 instead of 192.168.0.1) Depending on how much you want to invest in it, you can buy a Unifi gateway, and add a ubitiqui AP or two for your house. Those are the devices you'd see in hospitals, hotels, etc. They can handle a much higher workload.
So my Wyze Pan is on it’s way to my house and a question just popped in to my head. With the memory card installed and continuous or event based recording happening on the card, to access the on card recordings do you need to remove the card and put it in a computer, or will the app allow you to pull from and review those recordings in the app direct from the Wyze Can?
No Brian Weiner, you do not have to remove the card to review the recordings. When you open the camera (in the app), simply click the large "View Playback" button to review the recordings on the SD Card. While viewing the recordings, you can also press the "Record" button which will create a copy (of the recording) which will be saved in an "Album" which can easily be viewed later, shared, saved to google drive, emailed, or whatever.
I purchased 4 Wyze Cams over the past several months. In that time, one of the cameras lost its IR capability and none of their mic talk functions ever worked. When I contacted support for the IR issue, it took a week for support to respond and then only to tell me what I needed to do to troubleshoot their problem camera....and it was a lot of crap to go through just to troubleshoot something that should have worked longer than a few weeks. I didn't feel that I should have to deal with that so I asked for a swap of a new camera, but again, I would have to jump through hoops to make that happen. I make decent money as a business analyst and considering the time and effort it would take me to fulfill that request, along with the cheap price of the camera, it wasn't a cost effective swap for me. There were other issues such as frequent audio blanks in addition to obvious omissions of things the cameras should have recorded like deliveries being made at my front door. In my opinion they rolled out this product before vetting all of the basic functionality which would explain why many many other Wyze Cam owners are having the same issues. The upside to this product is the function over cost. I consider these disposable products and do not recommend them in critical areas as it isn't a reliable product...short or long term. Spend more money for a reliable product and peace of mind....
Okay...I managed to saved it to my cell and the videos played. It only is says that the audio can't play because of the codecs. When I try share/send the clip to my friends cell ,he says the the videos would not play/show on his android phone
Hey Tim - That's no good. I'm sure you've tried the normal things of getting closer to your WiFi source and also turning off a few WiFi devices to give your router/wifi system a chance to make the initial connection? This can happen if you have a lot of devices on WiFi!
I need help, I cant complete the configuration, it something like connection fail to the wifi, I live in Mexico and my wyze cam its in chinesse or japanesse I dont know, what can I do?
I don't think you have a Wyze Cam Jesus! There are many brands that use the same camera as Wyze Cam...but have different software. If it's in Chinese/Japanese, then it's a guarantee you don't have a Wyze Cam
Return it if you can get money back!! As soon as you're using different software, it's not a Wyze cam. The same hardware likely though! But that doesn't matter, it's the software that makes Wyze cam great
Not really Amy. You can put an SD card in it and put it on continuous local recording but it's not perfect that way and you have to have set it up this way with WIFi
Click on your camera, open it and at the bottom it should have 'View Playback'. In that there will be the longer recordings on the timeline even when you only get the 12sec clip in events view. You have to slide across the slider with a finger to go back or forward or use the small arrows to move to the start of each playback.
Hi Mark, I'm betting it was an issue on Wyze's side. Have you managed? If not, come over to community.automatelife.net and get some help from Automaters like you!
So if you take them on the road, it's not easy to gain access. What you could do is connect them to a hotspot on your phone before you go and then broadcast that when you want access. I haven't ever bothered trying but it should work just fine
The cameras connect to your home's wifi and your phone can access them over your regular data plan from anywhere including a different country. Set the video quality for remote access to 360p to save your dataplan and speed up connection.
hey brain i turned all the notfication on but it wouldn't sent me any notification can u help? i tried on both samsung s10 and iphone 11 just doesn't work
You may have something blocking it at the network level then. Or just check the overall settings in your phone or tablet. You may have blocked the notifications there
Oh gosh...You can't stop that. A TV on a camera like this just is not going to go well. Point it elsewhere or use scheduling to stop it when you're watching TV.
It can, but it's not highly reliable. Continuous recording can be setup on wifi and then you can take the camera with you or turn off wifi and it should... SHOULD...work
Start by installing and getting your Wyze Camera into the Wyze app in the first place. Then download and install the new RTSP firmware. It will redo the camera in the app, but it helps in the setup process for RTSP.
Hi Brain, Question for you, I wasn't able to get notifications on my phone and I notice that when you were going through your settings, I noticed that there was a Push Notification on your event recording list. I don't see that, and all I have is Detects Motion & Detects Sound. Why is that?
It's a bit of an older app look now on the video, so actually you want to go into the camera settings and then into Notifications. That's it right there. Your app settings might also be turned off for push notifications in the overall device settings, so check there.
Question I see I can make wyze trigger a light connected to my SmartThings using IFTTT my problem is the light stays on until I turn it off, I’ve rarely used IFTTT because it doesn’t offer additional settings like that. Any advice ? I really want my wyze camera to trigger turning my lights on when it detects motion, my lights are in SmartThings
Well you can do the opposite when the motion becomes clear. I think what you're going to run into there is the motion sensor being a little inaccurate once in a while and turning off your lights too soon. What I'd suggest is a timer type of automation on the SmartThings side. Take 5-10 minutes from the time it turns on and turn it back off. Even in the automation you've set up to turn it on, you can set a time that it turns off. Very simple. The reason this works is your IFTTT will turn the light back on if you're moving.
It's a good option for sure! Right now there are a few issues with CMC and its interaction with other parts of the overall service, but they're working it out.
Funny. I have a Wyze V2 and it says it allows SD cards up to 32gb but you're recommending at least 32gb. I see that you're using a 32gb so are you sure you spoke correctly when you recommended 32gb and larger?
I think the first thing you want to do is 2 FA. Otherwise, a VPN really isn't going to do much other than delay you. The lists that have been leaked could show your account info...so change your password, enable 2 Factor Authentication, and a VPN might help after that in terms of people trying to find your cameras in other ways.
I just got my cameras for security reasons and I am quite impressed! I'm just figuring out the motion detection. Haven't quite got it figured out yet!
Keep enjoying them! Have you seen our new videos on the latest updates? It includes a discussion on the new Person AI feature.

Best description of the Sd card function! I wanted to see if there was a free work around of being about to record more detections without a subscription
And it's an old video too! So glad it's still hitting home for folks!
Great video, can cameras at multiple locations all be viewed on the same account?
Thank you in advance.
Yes, absolutely - There's no reason they can't as the cameras are IP/WiFi based.
I bought a wyze cam pan, along with the basic sensor kit and a pack of their wyze bulbs. Ever since installing some of these, my wifi router routinely reboots itself throughout the day. It never did this before. Do you think there's any relationship to the Wyze gear being on the network?
Hey Burt - well it could be...but how many devices do you have on your router now and what kind?
@@AutomateYourLife thanks, after I get some Wyze cams, I'll follow up if I figure out a way.
I need camera with out the delay like yi with better video what do you recommend
ua-cam.com/video/E6Q3ZOSO6Vg/v-deo.html
Thanks Brian great video as always. I was curious is there a way to set up a siren alarm when the motion is detected?
Hey Michael - If you mean SD card, then yep. It’s buggy though so I would suggest rebooting every so often :)
You would still need wifi for initial setup though
@@AutomateYourLife thank you for your reply my phone has Wi-Fi on it and I could download the app to my phone would that be sufficient for setup even though it wouldn't support the camera when I'm away would I still be good to record on the SD card
ooooh, no...that's not going to work. You need a second device. Try a tablet. Then connect both to phone's wifi and then use tablet to set up Wyze. Once you do that once, it'll work :)
Hey man, thanks for this. Can I take the SD card out and go over my footage on a laptop?
Absolutely! Do it all the time personally.
@@AutomateYourLife thankyou for update Brian and looking forward to you next video on home automation.
I just got one and your video is great but after inserting the Micro SD card, the app doesn't recognize it. I've popped it out, back in. Checked and it's already formatted FAT32. Not sure what else it could be. The Card is a Sandisk Extreme 32GB. Any Ideas?
Try reformatting the card. I’ve heard this a few times. Also try and make sure it’s as updated as you can before you go and put the card in!
This ^^
Does Wyze have an API to be able to trigger those events from a local application like Home Assistant
No, but RTSP seems to be working to bring the camera into HASP
I'm looking into opencv this week once I receive mine to play with.
Can the recordings on the SD Card (greater than 12 seconds) be accessed over the internet or do you have to have the actual SD card or be on the local network?
You can access it from the Wyze app! Anywhere in the world. :)
I want to daisy chain on each corner of my trailer but it's 40' and I was reading that anything over 20' for power over cord won't work
The concern is voltage drop (and therefore current increase too).

@@AutomateYourLife Thank you very much great camera
If cam goes offline will it still record to the sad card?
Yep! As long as you're not using person detection (newer feature which is cloud based and therefore requires WiFi)
Brian,
The newer wyze cams do come with a 8gb camera but how many hours is that really vs purchasing a 32gb card.
Say I did buy 1 or more WYZE cameras
Do I understand i can use my iPhone to see real time & or recorded stuff
I have 2 iPads can I use one of those as a MONITOR while at home as a constant source of viewing ???
WHILE say I went to market I can use my iPhone when away from home
On a older note i have 2 Amazon fire tablets (I think that’s what there called) I never use them can I use them as a constant sourde of viewing while at home ???
I am not savy to electronics at all thus i ask your opinion as your smart to stuff like this
Thanks
You can watch with any of those as long as you get the Wyze app on them. I don't have a newer Fire Tablet at the moment, so you'd have to see if you can get the Wyze app on them still. But yep, to all of it.
@@AutomateYourLife Will try TY for reply
Excellent video, Brian. But why wouldn't you always just set the SD card to continuous recording? And specifically, does the card "wear out" after so many times of being recorded over? Keep up the great work.
Hi there B-9 M-3. Thanks! So lots of folks use continuous recording and it is definitely a great feature. I did an update of this video actually very recently and it explains when to use that feature. Check that video out here: ua-cam.com/video/eaZBo6QSMPg/v-deo.html
The other question about the SD card.
Yep, work you do is saved in the settings in app and actually, many on device.
Hi guys, just set up my WYZE PAN camera to my home, BUT if I wanted to take it on vacation, HOW do I re-set it for the hotel WIFI?
Buy a Wyze Outdoor Cam is my advice! They have a travel mode specifically for this.
Otherwise, it's a full reset and re-set up basically.
How is the 2 way speaker is it clear?
Not on the V2's no. It's pretty quiet and not super clear. You might want to watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/E6Q3ZOSO6Vg/v-deo.html
I never heard the tink tink when I inserted the memory card, but somehow the app recognized the card and I was able to format it. Should I do it over?
Nope! If you can see it working in the app, just enjoy!
Can a wyze motion senser be set to turn on smart bulbs, smart sockets,
So the Wyze ones, yes. Through IFTTT too. And...now Amazon Alexa
And here's a hack for Smartthings: ua-cam.com/video/4uDf1DbRjJc/v-deo.html
I don't really have an interest in using the Wyze Cam phone app to view live video. All I want to do instead is just view the cam live over my home wifi network using the camera's native IP address. Is that possible? Or, is the cam phone app the only mechanism for viewing?
So you can set it up with RTSP and then there are a number of ways to view the camera with that IP. Have a look at this video to get an idea of what you can do: ua-cam.com/video/12xmbzbw5E8/v-deo.html
For event recording do you require an SD card to be installed as I am having problems trying to figure things out.
No it's not required, but right now you only get 12 second recordings sent to the cloud.

I don't!
I never heard the beep beep after I installed it, but everything seems to be working fine.....is that cool?
Hey Adam - Installed RTSP?
I've got the latest firmware release (4.9.4.169) but under event recording I don't see Push Notifications option. Has this been eliminated?
I just see Send Notifications in the settings of the camera
Can this cam stream to a Chromecast or a Nest Hub?
They can now! Yep!
@@AutomateYourLife So you can ask Assistant to stream to my tv?
Yup! Just ask to see your camera on your device
can you disable the remote recording and make only local sd card recording?
You need the trigger to record events, and in order to trigger, you'll send a recording to the cloud.
However, you can turn off all events and then just locally record continuously to the micro sd card. That works.
Will these and IFTTT still work with the new Google Nest line? I have heard that google will be only allowing their stuff, nest cams to use their platform.
I don't think you'll have that integration opportunity, sadly. It's not entirely clear though. I have a video being prepared for Saturday about that. SmartThings integration, Alexa Integration, both remain possible!
Is it possible to use a WiFi ringer that rings when wizecam alerts?
Without knowing what you have access to, it's going to be tough. Tasker on an Android with both apps should be able to accomplish it though

It's on the list! I ha e an update coming in an hour or so with some talk about Wyze's updates
@John Smithy yes I do and I figured it out
How do you keep playback from freezing and keep the internet connection from cutting out?
1. New router that can handle more - We have a video on choosing a better router for your smart home: ua-cam.com/video/ien8faozZSY/v-deo.html
2. With a new router, offload what devices you can to 5 GHz, leaving 2.4 GHz clearer and able to accept more.
3. Get a mesh network going, or
Why do I. It have the option to schedule specific times on mine? It just says all day and then no options below it...
That's an old version of the app. Have you updated in a while? Try firmware updates of your camera too.
Automate Your Life we just received these cameras in the mail. Shouldn’t they already be updated and ready to go? How do I fix this?
Can alexa do the same with ifttt?

So my Wyze Pan is on it’s way to my house and a question just popped in to my head. With the memory card installed and continuous or event based recording happening on the card, to access the on card recordings do you need to remove the card and put it in a computer, or will the app allow you to pull from and review those recordings in the app direct from the Wyze Can?
Hey Brian! Yeah, you gotta pull it. :(
No Brian Weiner, you do not have to remove the card to review the recordings.

Can you have access to the cameras when you are far from home and you don’t have access to WiFi?
So if you take them on the road, it's not easy to gain access.
What you could do is connect them to a hotspot on your phone before you go and then broadcast that when you want access. I haven't ever bothered trying but it should work just fine
The cameras connect to your home's wifi and your phone can access them over your regular data plan from anywhere including a different country. Set the video quality for remote access to 360p to save your dataplan and speed up connection.

It is unclear to me whether you have to load the Wyze cam first on the regular app or just the RTSP app?
Start by installing and getting your Wyze Camera into the Wyze app in the first place. Then download and install the new RTSP firmware. It will redo the camera in the app, but it helps in the setup process for RTSP.

Question for you, I wasn't able to get notifications on my phone and I notice that when you were going through your settings, I noticed that there was a Push Notification on your event recording list.
4:28 I've used, and still do, 16gb cards in all 5 of my cameras with no issues at all.
This is a bit older and actually you should be using under 32 GB, per Wyze's support page. :)

The weird part is they don’t have another trigger to turn off the light when motion stops.
Great tutorial and ways you can the setup Wyze Cam. I think I am sold on getting one.
Let’s hope they become a better price for you Bernard!
@@AutomateYourLife This about $70 - 80 better.
Man that price gets me every time...import fees
I activated motion detect to turn on camera in the rules but its not working can anyone help?
Motion detection is only going to work if the camera is on. That's a security/privacy feature. You'd need a second sensor or a second camera.
@@AutomateYourLife Thank you
I like the service fee option because it records for as long as you need and doesn't have such a long reset time and no card to mess with
It's a good option for sure! Right now there are a few issues with CMC and its interaction with other parts of the overall service, but they're working it out.
Sounds like most of the sensitivity issues have been resolved with the people detection ai they've added in a firmware update.
Thanks Brian. I’m a hockey guy - noticed the signed pic of Stevie Y on you wall.🏒
I’m lucky to have it around here! Very little Stevie Y stuff around!
Automate Your Life I meant to say “your” wall! Thanks again!
Funny. I have a Wyze V2 and it says it allows SD cards up to 32gb but you're recommending at least 32gb. I see that you're using a 32gb so are you sure you spoke correctly when you recommended 32gb and larger?
Use 32GB and lower :)
Automate Your Life I see you mention you can use 128 'absolutely' but then no...... Which is it & why would you change your answer?
Because Wyze changed their official support position.
Do not use larger than 32 GB
I appear that you can not use a USB thumb drive?
Never tried, but I would say not likely
Thanks for your video, was very well explained and very informative
Happy it’s helpful!
Does connecting a vpn with my wyze app help with protecting me from being hacked?
I think the first thing you want to do is 2 FA. Otherwise, a VPN really isn't going to do much other than delay you. The lists that have been leaked could show your account info...so change your password, enable 2 Factor Authentication, and a VPN might help after that in terms of people trying to find your cameras in other ways.
I have 5 wyze cameras i love them!!
Many who have them, do!
