I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve learned from you and your channel. I had taped a ring indoor camera to my window with flood lights facing the house and couldn’t see ANYTHING. I also JUST learned from you how to change the settings! Thank you so much! I won’t order anything for home security without checking your channel first. Thank you again!!

Hey Tony?? I just bought a blink mini, it's for my bedroom window. Found someone at it, seriously! So how do I use with a window screen?? So turn off night vision mode
We attached a Litom light on the back of our house using outdoor tape about 5 years ago, and have had no problems. I appreciate it every time I take the dog out late night in the back yard.
So I saw this updated review and it helped me a lot because I actually bought a Ring security camera (battery-powered) and since you mentioned that it doesn't detect motion, I'm returning it and getting the wired one instead. Thank you so much for being detailed, it would've been a waste of money.
Thank you so much for this!! You've saved me from so much worry and headache. Someone tried (and failed) to break in recently and I've been trying to figure out what cameras to use since the one I got is infrared only and I had no idea and wasn't getting notifications for motion. I've learned a lot from your videos. Before I found your channel I've been sick with worry, but I've ordered some of your suggestions here and I'm already feeling better. Can't wait to set everything up! You're doing such important work by sharing your knowledge and expertise with all of us!!!!
I totally agree with you, this is MOST helpful. There are additional items that might help that RV travellers posted! One lady had some 15 additional safety items she uses that travel with her. My problem: I have motion sensing lights but...I'd never know it was activated, if I'm busy inside!! So one item she posted that I loved was an alarm that sounded inside the home if an outside area sensed man-height motions! And my lights could light them up. Keep searching, lots of helpful info, like this one - very comprehensive and solution based, Thank you, Sir
Thanks for this video. The ezviz c1c is the one I choose for my window as a security camera. It works so good day or night!! I recommend this camera if you guys are looking for a window home security protection.
Oh yes.. they used to.. but I tried removing them about a couple months ago and the tabs broke off.. I will use the string hack to remove them now if I need to .
I've been using the Girafit W150 window camera, and I love its anti-glare and anti-reflection features. Plus, the Chromax color night vision is really impressive!
ty so much I bought motion sensor solar led lights also tried behind glass and it didn't turn on either, thanks for clearing it up because I bought Eufy 2k indoor to use behind glass bc I am afraid it can get stolen, glad you mention how it works behind glass.
I am so glad I watched this. My problem is my ring cam in my window facing my car and there's a glare. I shut off the infrared, but there's still a glare from my white blinds behind the cam off the window. I'm going to try blocking the blue light to see if it helps. I noticed my neighbor may have done the same. Thank you for making this video.
There is always going to be a glare on the outer edges from the white blinds, unless you can cover the camera's back and into the window with a black cloth or cardboard. Turning off the lights on the room where it is installed can help minimize glare also.
LifeHackster, I put 2 YI cameras on my glass window/patio glass door. It works great. The 6 seconds recording can be view with longer footage when click complete clip if the micro SD card has not reformat. When motion is detected, the recording continues. There is no need to use cloud storage. You can record or take photo of the recorded footage. 1 Gig can record about an hour of footage. YI has 64 gig capacity. The more you use it the app, the easier it gets. Thx
Yes the Yi cameras can be an option too..I just didn’t add it on this video because the other brands have person detection (without needing a subscription)
Great video. I've had a vehicle vandalized and have been looking for an indoor camera solution. I have no option to mount an exterior camera. Your video has been very helpful thank you.
I was going to buy an outdoor socket camera but I decided against it after seeing your video what an awesome video I really appreciate all the information it was so very helpful I'm definitely going for an indoor camera now.
Another great review. The Wyze 5 min. cool off for notifications is not important to me - Once I receive the first notification, I can access the video on the SD card and live feed as long as I need. The 45 sec. delay on the Wyze is disappointing but not a deal breaker. Another person mentioned wire screens facing the indoor cam - big problem if you don't remove them. I have 10 Wyze cams supplementing my POE ip security cams, quite satisfied for the money spent. Thanks.
If you have a top part of the window clear of the screen, you can try to hang the camera upside down and invert the view. It sounds weird but it's how store cameras work, right?
Thanx for another straight forward helpful video. I have 4 Wyze cameras and one Blink outdoor camera securing my front porch area. I like the idea of putting a camera in my kitchen overlooking my deck and outside back area from the top level of my house. I will try out the motion light you suggested, we have a blind spot on the side of our home that needs illuminating. Thanx for the tips!
Ring said it wouldn't work through a window. Thank you so much for this video! ... perfect timing as I'm checking out to purchase it right now on Amazon.
Thank you for your video I've been searching for a camera that will work through glass since there are zero options outside that I can mount. Your video is the best I've found. I purchased 1 pan and tilt eufy and 3 eufy non pan. Picture quality and span is great. I've noticed it works pretty well during the day if the camera is facing straight ahead. I havent setup the solar lights for night use yet. The building is somewhat lit @ night but it didn't seem to pick up motion. If you have the camera's at a slight angle against the window its a hit or miss with someone walking by. Sometimes it will pick up the person after they are leaving or a person that is further away. If the person is stationary for some time it will pick it up. I'm not sure if this is due to the camera being slightly angled, or the person too close or moving too fast. I'm still testing to determine if I will keep them.
It might be is too dark for the camera to detect motion. Their motion detection is camera based and if it is too dark outside, it might not be able to pick up the motion.
Dang, I need that little shelf! I’ve been using a clear plant shelf with suction cups with my Wyze Cam for over a year. It’s great during the day but sucks at night. It has held me over, but I will be using a Reolink wired setup soon.
The ring notifications are virtually instant, which is very important in terms of how I respond. The other are slower , particularly the wyze camera. I already have a ring doorbell pro which is very reliable so I may try the stick up cam too.
I have a WYZE cam on my front window looking outside and it works pretty good. I haven’t tested the notification delays, but my phone doesn’t work right because it’s almost 7yrs old. 😂 So not much works right on it. But it doesn’t detect persons like it should. It detects all movements as “motion”. Maybe once it said it detected a person but usually it says it’s motion. At night it’s hard to see even with the front light on and also in some areas because of the glare from the window when inside lights are on. I don’t have blinds but am thinking about putting up curtains so the glare doesn’t mess up the view. But I’m also just waiting for the WYZE outdoor cameras to launch. Thanks for the info !!!
Bravo! Many thanks for an excellent video! Exactly what I need it. You covered the features I was most interested in learning about, as some other viewers are saying below. I have seen videos of thieves pulling out the outside cameras so it is better to placing them in safer places. Many thanks again.
Just wanted to make a comment on the longevity of the Wyze Cams. I have 7 of them & right around the 2 year mark the picture quality starts deteriorating drastically. The warranty is only for a year so none of my cameras are covered. Pictures are grainy & some have a pinkish haze either along the bottom or the side. I contacted the company but they said there is nothing they can do about it. Thanks for the great video, as most of my cameras face outside & I am now looking for a new brand.
Thank you for this video I have learnt a lot! I am looking for a camera that I can use behind a window that also allows me to set privacy zones? Thank you
If using the Ring Indoor Camera facing outwards then suggest to turn off the infrared mode in the settings - this will avoid the IR light bouncing off the glass at night
Thanks for this presentation. I previous tried Arlo and like you mentioned it did not work. I am curious as to whether window film will affect these camera's performance.
Excellent review....very thorough - and professional - evaluation of all the camera. I have the Wyze camera installed for outside viewing. My only issue is that I have a window screen so the image is not as good as I would like it. Thanks again for doing a great job on this comparison.
Thank you! Was wondering if it was possible to install the motion detector light behind glass as well. In an apt, my worry is someone will rip the sensor off.
im leaning towards the ring because of the price and the notification speed since i planning to put it on my balcony. Just torn between the indoor version and outdoor spotlight version since the lights will be on at nights indoor and through glass notification might get harder that way
Is there a camera that will record night and day and just loop the recording? We are on the 1st floor and I doubt that the motion detection will work. I would prefer it if there was a recording on a loop.
Which version of Ezviz C1C was used in your testing? I saw your video and just bought 2 C1C v2 (version E0-1E2WF) today. They don't support human shape detection. I am disappointed.
eufy notifications is actually as fast as the ring cam or even faster , its just that it was making sure its an actual personne (to avoid false alerts) , the led light turn red when it detects the intended target (depends on settings) and the it sends notification which takes like 2 seconds
The problem with the Wyze cam is that it only connects to 2.4GHz wifi. Most wifi mesh networks now broadcast both 2.4GHz & 5GHz but do not separate the two into two different networks. The camera is not "smart" enough to detect only the 2.4GHz wifi and connect to that one. It spends all its time trying to connect to the 5GHz. The picture quality I got from the Wyze camera indoors facing outdoors was absolutely fantastic but it turned out to be useless because it could not regularly stay connected.
Any outdoor camera with battery that could work like this ones? I need a cam but no electric source. So needs to be battery powered. Have you test any? Thanks
Any security camera that uses a battery for power will not work behind glass due to the motion sensor that it uses (PIR sensor) will not detect motion through glass.
Is it possible to use one wired powered by a power-bank? Needs to have microSd card as the wifi might not work at that place. I dont need real time view but will check camera once a week.
I have an odd shaped entry so to cover the area and see above the knees or the patio where packages are delivered I think I will need the pan tilt. Odd question but how well does the eufy record through glass when panning or tilting?
It's so funny. I know somebody that when your approach her home, the cameras hanging from the garage ceiling start barking. Cameras with fake dogs. LOL.
Thank you for the tips. I chose the ring version and set up was very easy. I installed two. One for the front and one in the back of my condo. My problem is the reflection of the blinds 😩😩. At night, I cannot turn on the bedroom light in the front. I will not see anything but the window reflection. And now that it is daytime. I have that reflection in the back. I cannot figure out the pattern and why this is happening.
Yes, that is the glare from the windows. Wyze makes a window mount for their cameras and I’m hoping other brands will follow soon. - ua-cam.com/video/dJDNrg19gQo/v-deo.html
Is there any video review done for cameras working behind a tinted glass window (insulated glass)? I've been trying for night vision using few Eufy, Noorio options however they don't perform well. I think with your existing set of cameras if you could create a video that would be helpful. PIR for sure doesn't work behind insulated window glass.
I've been thinking of doing an outdoor security setup for a while but it's expensive, arduously difficult to setup, and my choices are limited being in Canada needing a system that can withstand -40C temps (I can probably get away with one thay can handle -30C as we average maybe -25C across 4 months). But watching your indoor setups behind windows has me rethinking. Thanks.
Videos are great but like I was asking you if I use my camera in the window will I need a light for outside as well or will it pick up motion in the dark
The camera uses camera based AI type of detection which depends on what the camera sees...so if it not able to see you because it is too dark then it will not detect you..that is why you need to have lights outside.
So, which one would you recommend that has the PAN TILT feature and best resolution along with ability to store footage? I think I liked the 2K resolution of the EUFY but was wondering if the APP that controls this (and the others in your video) costs money/paid subscription to operate??? I liked your idea of the shelf ...I was looking at another way to go but yours seems more practical. Thank you for your video!
Hi! I bought a ring indoor stand up cam for inside my window, but the motion sensor Doesn’t work through the glass? How did you get it to work through your windows?
Wow, 43 secs for the Wyze to send the notification is really slow. I hope Wyze plans on changing that to improve to more like 10-15 sec like the others. Great comparisons and well done!
eufy is actually as fast as the ring cam or even faster , its just that it was making sure its an actual personne (to avoid false alerts) , the led light turn red when it detects the intended target (depends on settings) and the it sends notification which takes like 2 seconds
Curious about your thoughts on the Logitech Circle, which is the only camera I've seen that is actually made to mount on a glass window (window mount sold separately).
Watched a few videos on the Circle and all said it was horrible. Not very good video and horrible sound quality. Not what ya wanna hear for a camera that's almost $200. From this video I think I'm gonna go with the Ring as it was good video and almost instant notification.
Great review. Do you really need to tape the blue light? Can there be an option not to put a tape to cover the blue light on the Ring? Thank you in advance.
I have a ring indoor camera that uses ac adapter. It picks up motion detection behind a window. I also have 3 x 3rd generation ring wifi cameras (battery operated), these do not pick up motion detection behind a window. Will buying the 12v ac adapters for these make motion detection work behind a window?
Was wondering was their a reason why you did the ring indoor camera on the front of your home and in your opinion is this a good option or is a outdoor camera better ? Thanks
For a quick easy setup..these indoor cams can work like outdoor cameras without the hassle of climbing up ladders and drilling holes and screws which you will need to do if you are installing an outdoor camera..plus you really don’t need to worry about your WiFi signal strength or for the camera to get stolen because the camera is still inside your house.

@@LifeHackster Hey bro, this Ring stickup camera isnt working through a window, what can I do?
This is from 2ys ago. Can you do an update video. I'm looking for the best indoor camera that works through the window.
For those command adhesive strips, you want to have the white tabs sticking out a bit from the side so you can just pull on them for clean removal.

eufy notifications is actually as fast as the ring cam or even faster , its just that it was making sure its an actual personne (to avoid false alerts) , the led light turn red when it detects the intended target (depends on settings) and the it sends notification which takes like 2 seconds
interesting , i always sided with ring because of their really quick notifications , but this caught my eye 📝🤔
My friend has the eufy doorbell and the video quality is remarkable. Puts my ring camera in my house to shame.
Great video, very informative!
Thank you...
You make the best vids
Thank you love the video man I’m buy that plastic wall shelf to hold my camera and electrical tape for my ring indoor camera and outdoor camera
What a shame…
Is it possible to use one wired powered by a power-bank? Needs to have microSd card as the wifi might not work at that place. I dont need real time view but will check camera once a week.
Any hacks to downward vs straight-on for window direct mount or is this already avail in these cameras?
Any tips to cut reflections and glare on wyze cam that must be angled down and therefore can't be flat against the glass?
I have an odd shaped entry so to cover the area and see above the knees or the patio where packages are delivered I think I will need the pan tilt. Odd question but how well does the eufy record through glass when panning or tilting?
Front door bell. Easy to install.
Hi. Is there a difference between the C1C and the C1Cb ? Thanks.
P.S Your link doesn't go to the C1C.
Thank you for the reviews very helpful definitely going to purchase one thanks to your review 👍
Wondered if you had any experience with the Nest battery camera's through a window?
It's so funny. I know somebody that when your approach her home, the cameras hanging from the garage ceiling start barking. Cameras with fake dogs. LOL.
Thankyou kindly sir.a most excellent video.this has helped me loads.
Which one would you say is the best?
Awesome!! Thanks!!
Thanks.
Me too!
Very interesting video. It gives me ideas. Thank u. If I but any eufy security cams can I add on like a solar panel for the cams later down the road ?
Thanks for the hack it works perfect for my setup. You're awesome!
My Tend works awesome.
Cool..
Thanks
Did you test these from the back of the yard to see from what distance the cameras detect motion? Up close isn't a good test.
The lights are not found on Amazon. Thank you for making this video! I’m buying everything else you recommended.
DOES WINDOW PRIVACY FILM ALLOW CAMERAS TO WORK FROM INSIDE TO OUTSIDE? PLEASE ANSWER!
thank you for the information/ i brought my bell and howell light censor back. Iam also looking for a inside window cam. keep up the good work
I have tp link Tapo and I can’t turn off the night vision. Sucks. This video is very useful.
Great video. Are the notifications over the internet? How are you getting the notifications on your phone? Need Wi-Fi to connect cameras?
hi thank you for your videos! I have ring security system. Wondering where di\d you got the window mount for the Ring Indoor
camera? thanks again!
LifeHackster will the ring camera see motion if their is no outdoor lighting or do you recommend putting a light out there ?
Good Info - thx 👍
