@@kas7344 yeah I doubt that it is. I'm actually going to find out soon.
@@kas7344 If you fail something in Marine Corps Boot Camp, you get dropped back into training. So you have to repeat it.
@@kas7344 If you think boot camp is the hardest training in the military, you are sorely mistaken. For the ground fighters, it's barely an introduction. For us combat vets, it's barely a taste of what it's like to live and serve in combat, or to learn the massive array of modern weapons and systems. It's stupid to compare police to the military, they're two different worlds
Give these guys lots of props. Did a week in a police academy and dropped it. Realized it wasn't me. Decided to do a 9-5 and make more to not risk my life. Police need to be paid way more.
Chris Condon police need more pay to strip people of their rights? Especially second amendment rights? The ATF is unconstitutional. The FOPA & NFA ban are unconstitutional. Background checks are unconstitutional. Permits and licenses are also unconstitutional. “Shall not infringe” means no restrictions. Now if you want to argue but “theyre common sense” thats strictly your opinion . Not fact.

We just loved watching this video. Thanks so much for sharing. How did your recruiting go with this class? We are holding our own police recruitment soon in Kyle, TX. We look forward to hearing how yours turned out.
Thank you for your service. Even if you're the opposite side of my state, NC. These officers are doing a service to protect people, putting bad people in jail or prison, and enforcing peace.
Thanks for posting. I'm on my way to join the academy because of this content, it's absolutely crazy that some of us can get this opportunity. It seems so hard but absolutely worth it, i hate seeing the streets like this. Please post more updates on the police they are number 1
Hey, how'd it go?
Don’t think he passed
So this is how Rainbow 6 recruits are made
Nowhere in the western world is the police training as bad and short as in the USA. 4-6 months / 250-300 hours of training before you have the power to decide about death or life. Less then 1 week of that training is for social competence, psychology, communication and de-escalation.
Just in Comparison German police 30-36 Months/4500-5000 Hours training.
BTW. "Defund the police" would do the opposite ... And yes Blue life matters too, but they need to change that training.
Greetings from Germany
@@Larrypint what is police training like in the rest of the world?
@@daemonzap1481 I don't know but in the EU it's nowhere under 12 months and in most northeuropean countries it's at least 24 months

This was awesome. Thanks for sharing.
When I went through the Honolulu Police Academy we had 2 guys that quit after the first day....what is crazy I think we had 2 or 3 people who were hired and went through the whole process and even had their name plates on the desks in the classroom and never even showed up for the first day of class....unreal....
As a recruit in the police academy currently, this is pretty accurate. In ours they hand out “demerits” (a standardized disciplinary system) like they’re candy on Halloween
I'm 28 and I figured out in the past year I want to be a police officer! I've always wanted to be one when I was little but didn't think I could do it or was good enough! I'm in college now getting a criminal justice degree and that made me really want to do it!
Training is different than educating. Generally, training means teaching police officers to react to a given situation in the field. Education involves developing the mental and moral tools police officers should possess to build strong relationships with the community. It will teach police officers to think about their response to various problems based on vast amounts of knowledge and then take thoughtful action to resolve a problem.
What they need is educating them on our Constitutional rights. Police officers enter their profession by taking an oath to the U.S. Constitution. So why is there no concerted effort to make police constitutionally literate? Just think about how much better the police-community relations would be if police were constitutionally literate.
Constitutional literacy entails knowing the Constitution sufficiently well enough to invoke it properly. Those who take an oath to the Constitution have the responsibility to know its contents and interpretations of it, such as court decisions that are professionally relevant. There's a lot of men and women that have a career in policing without ever even reading the Constitution. So how sincere is one's oath to the Constitution if one hasn't read it or doesn't understand it?
First of all, police academies should replace the standard five to six months of training with a two-year curriculum. In addition to the necessary physical, firearms, and tactics training, recruits should take classes that you might typically find in an undergraduate program - from criminal and constitutional law to sociology, psychology, and conflict resolution. A clear understanding of the nature of the society they will serve, and all its complexities are fundamental to any member of a service profession.
By doing a simple search on UA-cam and watching a few videos of "First Amendment Audits" you can plainly see how ignorant most police officers are when it comes to our rights. So more education is needed, not just training.

So anyway, I started blasting...
Here in the philippines it takes 1yr and a half to become a police officer, in order to be enlisted you must have 4 yr degree in college and must pass neuro exams, psycho exams etc.
I watched this because I'm a 16 year old planning on entering the Academy as soon as I turn 21. However, I have a medical condition that prohibits me from being able to sweat. Which makes things harder for me. It's going to be a lot of hard work. I'm going to have to work a lot harder than my peers. And I might not be able to make it. But I will not give up. I won't let myself. I want to help people. And I'm ready to do what it takes.
Best of luck on your journey.

Very creative video. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with next time. We are interested in doing something like this for our police recruits in Kyle, Tx. Can you tell me more about this? How did they end up doing?
7:05 hit me really hard. thank you
we need more officers to be like T.J Panen, calm collected, cool and understandable when talking to, super friendly but very aware and alert. That's is what a police officer needs,
Recruits don't realize on the street, that they will be law enforcement, counselor, priest, marriage therapist, child psychologist, alcohol and drug counselor, psychiatrist, and suicide therapist. That's a lot to expect from just a police academy training. In Germany, police recruits go through a two year course and not just 24 weeks. They go through all those classes to learn all sorts of human characteristics and handle the worst in human behavior.
Very well said.
6:54 instructor not chillin with his Jiu Jitsu, i see you with that inversion
what i find interesting about officers and military is how well i can read them. their training shows so well. many have a very similar mindset. one thing ive learned is dont underestimate thier intelligence or their drive. they go through this hellish training for a reason. but ive also found in my own personal experience is that 1 of 4 people generally come out of that training and out of service. hardened strong people with a strong sense of morality. strict unbendable people who follow what they feel is right regardless of the reality of their beliefs broken men who are scared and traumatized and trying to leanr how to be a person...or dead men. this is why as much as i might want to i will never join LEO. i dont want to change. im bitter enough...i dont wanna have to hurt someone. i cant. great respect to LEOs everywhere
I don’t know about other departments across the country… But here in “Syracuse”, the academy is VERY grueling! Many of our military vets claimed that it was actually HARDER than Boot Camp! I wasn’t in the military so I can’t acknowledge this. All I know is that P.T. was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done!!
It is much harder. Not necessarily physically, but in every other way it is MUCH HARDER. Been to both. Also, much harder than earning a BA which just takes longer.

Criminals and criminal's families and associates mostly pretty much wont like you. Most others are ambivalent til they need you and hostile if you give them a ticket or sanction their activity. Ignore all that or you won't last long. If you want to be liked or are seeking others to soothe your ego, you will be very very disappointed.

The young lady recruit is sharp!
to all those who serve , to all those who want to serve, & to all of those who have died in the line of duty Thank you
The problem is this the balance. Academies are supposed to be challenging no doubt. Physical fitness, handling stress, and highly competent educated officers in civil rights, constitution, and criminal law are the hallmarks of well prepared officers.
Not so big on the "military" or boot camp style training. Policing has evolved in the 21st century whereby police officers are EXPECTED to assume a more human services role due to rise in contacts related to mental health, substance abuse, and other social challenges.
Expectations of following a chain of command, respect of your senior officers and command staff, and all that stuff can be accomplished without necessity of a "military" style boot camp. These are public service positions, the goal is to keep all safe. Public safety and law enforcement IS NOT military or combat work. Support our officers yes but when you militarize police forces you are fogging the mindset, the unintended consequence of the militarization of civilian police departments is an us against them mentality. This mentality is unsafe for not just police but the civilians they serve as well.
Couldn’t agree more.
It's my dream gonna keep training one day.
it doesnt say how many of those 600 plus officers quit
Well this isn't nothing like it will be out in the real world. This is easy. But out in the real world you will see death etc. Thats why those 600+ people quit. Plus some people go thinking you can be unfit and join ( ex: fat cops) but really in the academy they make you exercise. Im working on getting fit now before I join. Good luck man

theres alot that wasnt shown. that said i do think that there is a difference between discipline and intimidation. you see military using yelling constantly as a method to teach discipline and how to keep calm in a heightened situation but i feel that as an officer that training can be detrimental. that being said i also am glad that i saw them being taught how to interact with mental crisis individuals. i feel that if we could split the difference. teach them that discipline in other ways. theres a reason why the military are so hardened after everything because their going to fight and to kill if it is asked of them. cops are sent to protect. they want to avoid the kill as much as possible and i feel that the best way to achieve that is to be prepared for it. but not to go into a situation thinking it and i feel like as an officer finding a way to be ready for but not expect danger is incredibly difficult. i liked this video. i do give props to the training but i also feel the discipline could be taught a different way or a different amount. it works for the military but this is defending not attacking
I see the physical, but I don't see the academic side. What do you study and how much do you have to know. For example, do you study law and how much does that make up your training?
I see no responses so I will answer you. In California POST sets the academic standards by what are called learning domains. This curriculum is the same across the state for police/
Sheriff academies and is alot of work load during your 6+ months in a program. There are constant tests that have to be passed to continue throughout an academy. The comparisons of military training vs LE academies is a pointless topic due to the difference of functions. A LE academy is not building Marines and the corp is not building cops ( non military) . I see military people quit academies and also some excel to the cream of the crop, it is more a question of the individual, not “ which is harder” additionally academies vary on the stress factor by location. Being an old school graduate it’s my full belief the higher the stress the better. When you are face to face with a violent parolee that is fighting you to the death and calling you everything in the book , there are no stress cards or hostile environment complaint departments to cry to, and that’s what a good academy prepares you for. Discipline, honor and integrity are forged in the furnace imho. Good luck to you
in the philippines 31yrs of age above is no longer accepted and they train for 6mons
What can I do if I know more Spanish then English I want to join to be a police officer but I don’t know
A lot of physical training and getting proficient in shooting a gun, but no constitutional training or the civil rights of the public, that seems to be what is lacking.
Go to college first. It will help you do well in your class work, understand concepts and subjects, write better, speak better. It is also required prerequite to be promoted to sergeant. A graduate degree is usually required to be promoted to lieutenant or Captain or higher. Do a few years in the military, especially as an MP. It will really help you deal with the stress and boot camp environment.
Nah you don’t need that you just put that time in and take a test for promotion like the military and being a MP is basically security for the military base completely different from civilian law enforcement the boot camp experience would transfer over but you could be making 60 to 100k in 4 years you would do better going into the reserves and being a cop full time

But to say it's harder than boot camp. No. Just no. I wasnt in the Marine Corps I was in the Army and the answer is still no
@Mina69a the fact you can go home at all during training makes it easier than the military, trust me. That was the hardest aspect for me
The Marine in the video thought so... It can vary from department to department, but your typical well funded academy has a higher failure rate than any US military branch's basic training due to the testing requirements. A former Marine that was in my squad said it best, bootcamp is physically tougher but mentally a joke since you just do what your told. The military will work with even the biggest dumpster fire of a recruit for as long as it takes but my academy was 3 tries and your out for everything from the weekly law test or practical exercises.
Boot camp is nothing compared to a top tier police academy.....I have known border line retards that have passed boot camp......when I was in the Army in the early 80 s you could serve in the Infantry with a 25 ASVAB score......
Its funny Sac PD is hiring but you can't get even get a lousy civilian job with Sac Sheriff. Five times in five years I applied for the Sheriff Security Officer position and still haven't heard nothing from the Sacramento sheriff department.

Once you officially pass police academy and become a cop do cops need to still take certain test every year or there isn't anything else you need to do once you pass you don't have to worry, and if you do have to do certain test yearly if you don't pass the test will you not be able to be a cop anymore, maybe take your license to be a cop. Reason am asking is because if you get a master and become an MFT Marriage and Family Therapist even do you got your masters already and officially become a therapist you still need to do a yearly test to renew your license.
