Cried watching this. I miss it. Bootcamp was an unbelievable experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life. It’s sucks that once you hit the fleet, all your motivation gets sucked out of you by your senior lances. But you must push on and keep moving forward. I deployed twice, saw the world. But still, bootcamp was the best experience I had in the Marine Corps. Holds a special place in my heart. Now I’m in the Air Force, furthering my career. To any future Marines out there, good luck, and slay, Devil

    • @valentintellez8909

Motivation and Discipline are for you to keep! Don’t let anyone suck it out of you, you are the captain of your own ship, and you choose your fate. I could’ve followed the same path in the fleet, but I keep that discipline and motivation, and because of it I truly enjoy the marine corps. Boot camp is still my favorite experience, but it is up to you to control your emotions, and your motivation.

@@brokenpotato438sure thing brother. You see, when you go through bootcamp, you get molded. By the end you feel changed, motivated, accomplished, you actually feel on top of the world because you know you did something hard, you pushed yourself, you feel unstoppable, and mostly proud. But once you go to the school for your job and graduate, you get sent to your duty base. And there, once you arrive, you’re considered a “boot.” You’re the new guy, and people that have been there for a hot minute dislike your motivation. They’ll degrade you ect. At least that’s how the infantry is. But it’s all part of the program. They’re training you to be tough, to be a killer. But once you deploy, and get your own boots, the cycle repeats itself. Now you’re that guy who dislike the new motivated devil, because he reminds you of what you used to be, young, motivated. But instead you’re now broken, your body hurts. And at the end of the day, you know why you went through a lot of sh*t. To rate. Because when you’re new the guy, you don’t rate sh*t. You have to earn your units trust, and respect. Cheers!

Could be worse. Some people got no one to call. But on the bright side, in case that persons without anyone to call bites the dust, there will be no deeply sad relatives/friends, although people love the idea that people mourn for them, which is sorta egoistic and weird. My son went in a few years ago. He graduated high school in June and was at Parris Island in August. He was not an athletic kid…..at all. The whole time he was there I was worried as can be. On top of the normal physical stress that the recruits experience, he also caught pneumonia (which I hear most everyone there catches). I was thinking the whole time, “OMG, he’s never gonna make it”, but he did, and I have so much pride and respect for what he achieved. Parris Island is definitely not summer camp, but once you’ve made it through, that’s something that no one could ever take away from you.

You have a purpose you are beautiful, kind, just be yourself and go after what you want to do. You are amazing, you got this, and things will get better in your life, you will do great things, and so many people and I are proud of you. Your future is bigger than your past and your past does not define you are awesome and a warrior. Don’t hate yourself simply because of your past, forgive yourself, love yourself no matter what because you deserve the world and the great things in it. Tips from a Marine Veteran.
When Drill Instructor says, "SCREAM!" LITERALLY SCREAM AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS. Not "Aye sir".
Wake up an hour before lights. Find out who has duty at 3am have him wake you. Sometimes they don't, but get your shxt, shave, and peee at your leisure.
Go to church, unwind. If you're not religious you should be for these 13 weeks. Trust me.
If you're the scribe, be prepared to get some hate from a few guys.
    DO EVERYTHING FAST.
Chow is lovely except when you're the last one to sit and have the shortest time to eat.
    Be organized and minimize clutter
Try to find uniforms that actually fit for swim qual
Don't be the one to get caught with peanut butter packets in their pocket.
    Anyone else wanna add??
