I truly love how the cadets are exposed to things like tear gaz. It really makes them understand the power they can impose on others, and is sure to make them think twice before using it. Go Canada!
Most police academies (at least in the United States) do this in their curriculum, and in the military for MP related jobs. Common things trainees/ recruits have to experience before being certified and authorized to employ are: Pressure points, takedowns, tasers, pepper spray/ tear gas. Instructors make them go through it just to know what it feels like so as to deter them in the future from going 0 to 100. Officers have to endure the effects of tear gas just as much as rioters. The stuff lingers and spreads, any officers dealing with people in the area suffer just as bad too. The only difference is they've trained for it and know what to expect already so they don't panic/ lose focus.
YOUR KIDDING RIGHT??? ITS SO THEY GET USED TO IT WHEN THE PROTESTERS START THROWING THEM BACK. GET YOU HEAD OUT OF THE SAND THIS IS NOT HOW YOU TRAIN POLICE FOR CIVIL POLICING.
All the jokes aside: This is actually a better police training than most countries offer their officers. Of course it's not comparable to a military boot camp, but neither is the job so I'm fine with that.

Diversity shouldn't even matter when it comes to looking for a good job or serving the country. If you're a part of the lgbt community (aka being a boy kisser like that furry meme that's trending rn) (alternatively a physically or mentally handicapped person) but still have a good amount of competence enough for the job you're looking for? Good. If you're not competent enough? we wont give you that spot. A good approach is to never give them a free pass just because of their diversity/disability, that pass should always be for the people that have the skill for the job they want even if one of them kiss men and have a genetic disease or is a disabled person. Skill comes first before their looks. But i guess the workspace treats them like the other end of the 'never judge a book from its cover' quote. Although I graduated a few years back now, I had the same facilitators and drill staff seen in this. A few changes to Depot since. Spending better part of 6 months at Depot and experiencing everything it had to offer, I can say its some of the best police training in the world. As the world of policing evolves at a rapid pace, the RCMP as a whole is a doing a much better job at keeping pace since years past. Its a shame to hear recruit applications are way down, to the point of having not enough to fill spots. Do those who are looking into it, its a tough process before, during and after training. But currently as a 4+ year constable with an excellent schedule, benefits for my family, some off the best time off in any job and $100K+ year salary not including edp and OT. Its all been worth it. You see a lot, experience a lot and go through a lot but I wont change it for anything. Not to mention we in the RCMP have a ton of career paths that municipal just cant match!
Also to those looking to sign up, note that part of the job includes taking away the human rights of your fellow citizens, especially natives, and you might end up facing discrimination by your higherups, or have to go along with the discrimination you see your colleagues enforce on the same people you’re supposed to be protecting and serving

As a former peace officer, I always enjoy watching videos like this. I look at the Canadian Mounties much in the same way as I do with the Texas Rangers.
Mounties are unique as they are in every province, Canada has no version of the FBI - just officers who work on federal cases. So you get Mounties who are average county police officers, some who work on provincial cases and others on federal. This also allows great communication when a major national issue is taking place like a hunt for killers spanning many provinces. I do see some similarities with attitude and respect that the rangers hold too.
Once when Grant McEwen was the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta a university in California asked him to come down and give the commencement address. He agreed to do so. Because he represented Alberta and Canada the Alberta government thought that it would look good for him to be accompanied by two RCMP officers in ceremonial dress. He got on a jet accompanied by two Mounties. Two women saw this. One woman said"what do you think he did". The other woman said"I think that he is a bank robber". The other woman said"No, he looks more like a white collar criminal". They thought that he was an American criminal being returned to the USA by the Mounties.

Lol
This guy is more indian than me lmao
No hosers there
They send the police to Nunavut and Yukon? That's almost to the Arctic circle.
They send them to the worst places and they don't have a say. It's why they don't get many applications.
@@TalesOfGod No, they get applications. What ends up happening is they quit or transfer to Municipal forces.
That is the artic circle, they have 20,000 officers that do policing, terrorist investigation, and provide security for the PM the RCMP is like Homeland security and FBI combined plus policing
@@user-vr3fu2ek8d FBI and DHS don't have any problems with funding or lack of manpower unlike the RCMP however.
@Rob C Do you have a source? I'm curious to see it.
Let's be honest, it wouldn't be a Canadian boot camp...if the training didn't take place during winter
And I love how the assistant commissioner is self-aware that the Canadian police is more polite than everyone else. But he has a point, if the police are friendly to each other, then when they're out and talking to victims/suspects it would calm them down as well in order to not build even more stress on an already stressful situation.
damn man the weather sucks , that is probably the only thing I learned from this video , look at that snow dude its ridiculous
Dude..I see you everywhere on youtube. We watch the same videos haha🙂
I wonder if the whole 26 weeks are during the winter season.
@@steelWindAlchemistin Regina, if you’re there for any sequence of 6 months you’re more than likely getting snow. I was lucky enough to attend the graduation ceremony for my brother, and was at Depot this past year to lay my uncle to rest, who retired an Inspector after more than 25 years of service. The video was very good, and one thing they missed was the water training; it’s intense.
@@get_busy_livingsame
My dad works in Bonnyville Alberta. He went there for a months and then he graduated. My mom was so proud of my dad. It was before I was even born in. It was also made in the 1800s.
the rest of the world's police: you're under arrest!
RCMP: would it be alright if I arrested you?

That Canadian's are nice shit is old.
Cory Kamermans No one knows how to joke about Canadians, so just resort to the classic politeness.
@@airwipe1639 what's the correct way to joke about canadians?
I love the drill unit, making that person so happy every Tuesday it’s honestly amazing

I can't tell if that was hilarious or or the most badass thing I've ever seen.
Definitely a mixture of both
Hilariously badass
If you're that mixed up, watch it again.
Pretty epic.
Seems it gets done at least once for every troop to experience.
When I was in my Basic Training for the US Army, our Senior Drill Sergeant did the same with his Campaign Hat AKA Brown Round. Unfortunately, that is a rare thing to see and my platoon paid a heavy price.
Still pretty cool to see an RCMP tradition. Laugh every time. Such finesse. Very artistic and entertaining. Bravo Zulu.
“A cow sacrificed its life for your belt and look what you’ve done to it” this was unexpected and incredible and a bit hilarious. That’s the perfect reason to tell someone to keep something in good working order, not just “because i said so!” it’s because an animal died so you could have it on your uniform and it should receive respect for that, that was very amazing to hear
I mean no disrespect, but I'd love to hug one if these folks. Tell em they're doing a great job.
I'm Troop 21, 2000. This brought back a lot of memories. Cool vid. Police work is public service. Stay safe brothers and sisters.

They did a really good job on this video!
"A cow gave its life for this look what you did" I died
Roblox is Awesome! Like sorry but belts get wrinkled
I'm sure they killed the animal just for a belt too
Joe Bessette yes that’s how it works
@@pickelhaube0449 No it's not. Cows are killed for meat and the hide is also used to make leather
@@joebessette6565 and the leather is used to make the belt
First scene got cut, they aren’t showing them saying “sorry” countless times before the question of the foundation was asked
Anish Patel as a Canadian they falsely showed how people actually act in these camps. Idk why they didn’t show the endless amounts of sorry that was passing around especially when they didn’t show that they said sorry to the cow that was sacrificed for that leather belt FALSE ADVERTISING
People just click this to watch Canadians be mean lol
and we can't watch canadians be mean lol.
We are so lucky to have our RCMP. They are fantastic. They have a tough job. Thanks!
Canadian Mounties:*Shoots rubber bullets*
Also Canadian Mounties: O_O man how did you shoot him. sorry man
oh theyt usually use live amo
I’m Canadian and am going to become an RCMP Officer. How convenient and awesome a new video was released on Depot. Not a lot of content on it. 😁 👍
As a person with multiple family members in both municipal and RCMP services my advice is to avoid the RCMP at all costs. They are a badly broken organization and should be shut down imho.
I’m not scared of Canadians, I was in the Russian army for 7 years. 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
@@erichkaufmann5284 Odd comment?? No one said anything about being scared of Canadians.
The worst equipped military in the world lead by a bunch of pop tart politicians who faint at the site of blood.
Good people in the CUF though.
@The Skyrim Machine The Canadian Unarmed Forces.
@The Skyrim Machine Ha ha ha ha....you said "good" and "politician" in the same sentence. That's sort of like the term Military Intelligence.
My observation is that few military people go into politics but a fair number of RCMP do. But being in the RCMP is a political position anyways, so they are half way there already.
This is my dream, wish me luck in 3 years
Edit: its been 4 years and im instead in film school, cops are little piggies, thought they were heroes until i grew up enough to realize the truth
You got it mate that iconic red inform is waiting for you
Best of luck!!
Hey Wild Bill, I'll wish it to you NOW - one never knows what tomorrow will bring (especially if at 76 one is riding a Kawasaki sport bike).
Good luck, mate
Good luck! Go get that red uniform!
It's true. When I see my local police, I have zero respect. They just want to make money on giving you tickets and citations. I've even gone to them several times on serious issues and they tell me to go away. The RCMP have always done right by me. I like those guys, they really care about the community and do right by their work. They are true patriots.
