@J Rose different guy, but I have actually been doing ATG coaching for almost a year. It’s legit bro. My legs got bigger and my pain is gone. I can’t dunk yet, but my jump is going up. Feels much faster sprinting though. My flexibility is still a weak Point for me, but I can do the ATG split squats and Hamstring flexibility standard. If I never missed an exercise I bet I would be even better though. Do you have any specific questions about the program?
@@jasonreimann6791 did you ever feel that the exercises weren't challenging enough? If I only do what's pain free, I'm just left with backward walking, and even that can cause discomfort by the time I'm done.

I’m 6’8 and 250 and a healthy 37 y/o with crap knees. Was getting the same way. Couldn’t walk down stairs with my toes forward. Could do any form of lunges. Couldn’t jump rope anymore. Simply shooting a ball for a few shots would hurt. Started the program October 8th. I’m about to finish up dense. Yesterday I did a 3 mile hike by the river and a 3 mile mountain bike ride by the lake and i was chillin. It’s been cold so I haven’t done much fun stuff but I can jog down stairs and even steep declines hiking or walking my dog are no problem. I can’t believe how stable they feel. So much resonated with me in just the first 5 minutes. They absolutely NAILED what injuries can do to someone mentally, emotionally and on other physical levels. I'm 10 years post-surgical after 2 ACL tears in college and I have never been the same. Not being able to get back to old capabilites and athleticism and sports can just destroy a person. I needed this.

A study came out a couple of days ago depicting that strength training has just as much of a benefit on flexibility as static stretching. I also read recently in a study that bouts of static stretching lasting longer than 30 seconds reduces peak muscle torque. Get long by getting strong 💪🏻
I know the study you are referring to, I believe his thinking is that tendons and ligaments can get strong with increased vascularity, etc. Stretching before an athletic event does reduce power output for the event, but in general, having that greater range of motion and ligamentous strength is protective.
@@Dr_Mandler I think Ben’s premise, and others such as Mark Rippetoe, is that the full range of motion is nothing without the strength throughout the whole range of motion. I have before with some build up over a few weeks been able to do the body knee extension - sitting on my shins and leaning all the way back and touching my back to the floor. But I can only hold it for a short time and I couldn’t sit straight back up like Ben does. I have (had) the flexibility for that range of motion, but no strength when I have maxed out the full ROM.
Think of this: The reduction in muscle torque could just mean you need to apply less FORCE to perform the same output.... Example: A 2 ft vertical jump may require an arbitrary 25% max muscle torque... Relieving tightness by strength training OR static stretching allows you to relieve yourself of intrinsic blocking from tight muscles.... Then... That same 2ft can be accomplished with only 10-15% muscle torque... I think they’re both two sides of the same coin...I think strength training is the ideal, but for beginners, there’s nothing wrong with static stretching
@@kennywalters6946 you’re right it could mean that, not from the up to date literature I’ve come across though, please point me in the direction of the study you got that from? Static stretching impairs Peak force production from what I’ve been reading, Even for beginners the injury risk from reduced force production is not ideal, I’d much rather something activate and gain length through strength. Obviously depends on the patient I’m in front of but as a general rule length through strength is the one
I don’t think anything you’re saying is anything Kneesovertoesguy would disagree with or conflicts with his training methodology. He believes in strengthening through lengthening but up to a certain point.

Absolutely love the content. But what's with the clipping audio
Agreed, throw a compressor and eq on that bitch audio guy lol
If it’s the sound I’m hearing that’s only coming from Ben’s mic, I don’t think it’s clipping. It does only happen when his speech is louder, but it sounds like a ripped diaphragm. Which would surprise me, because it’s the all-mighty SM7B, but it does sound like crinkling.
Plz fix/replace mic.
