One of the most demoralising and frightening moments of the entire Harry Potter series, let alone the Deathly Hallows was when the Ministry of Magic fell under the control of Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. It’s not really an area covered in much detail in the movies in terms of us understanding how it happened from standpoint in the books. In today’s video I’m going to explain in detail how the ministry had fallen under the control of the dark lord and for a period of time, it certainly appeared as if Voldemort had won. There's a theory that all the other wizarding countries hated Britain and wanted to see it fall apart because of its corruption. The theory says that could be another reason Fudge tried to cover the truth, because he didn't want another global embarrassment.

I've always wondered what did the magic schools in the United States and around the world do when Voldemort restarted his war in Britain. If all the wizards outside Great Britain came to Hogwarts to fight Voldemort like the Avengers assembled in Endgame, what would Voldemort's reaction be?
They would have revealed themselves after Neveile's speech. Voldemort was down to his last horcrux, Nagini. He was weekend and he knew it. I would think that seeing the wizards of the entire planet reject him would frighten and dishearten him a little. He wasn't able to die at that point, but there are worse fates than death.

Some of the best scenes happened in the ministry or magic especially dumbeldore vs voldermort
Definitely the best battle scene in the movies.....certainly showed us all why Dumbledore was the only wizard Voldemort was ever scared of!
I really wanted to see more of Rufus Scrimgeour. I really liked the actor in the film and was disappointed he had so little screen time.
Scrimgeour was not worse than Fudge. Not by a long shot. He never underestimated Voldemort, and he died a hero, refusing to tell Voldemort where Harry was, unlike Fudge, who arrogantly denied Voldemort's return for nearly a year.
I've always questioned why the wizarding cultures of the rest of the world never got involved in what was happening in Britain.
Not much many could do. They might've belived that the Death Eaters would try and take over their countries

First when I read The Half Blood Prince Book I thought that Rufus Scrimgeour was not such a good character, but when I found out that he gave His life for Harry and the Order of the Phoenix I really liked him.
Was Umbridge knowingly an ally of Voldemort, or was she just going along with any excuse to be cruel?
I think Umbridge went along with anyone who would let her implement her cruel policies. I don't think she cared if it was Voldemort, Fudge, Scrimgeour, etc.. As long as she could indulge her whims, that's who she supported.
Umbridge supported the ideals of the deatheaters that's why Voldemort and his puppet ministry kept her in a high position madam undersecretary to minister thickness and head of the muggle born registration commission.

I was wondering, during Voldermorts control over the ministry and Hogwarts, why did he never interrogated or killed the teachers at Hogwards? Why are people like Mcgonagall (who uses a muggle name btw) and Flitwick still alive? It's not like Sneep had any power to avoid their prosecution. And these teachers where friends with dumbledore after all so probably Order members.

I think Voldemort was also way to obsessed with Harry. His #1 goal was to destroy Harry Potter. He needed to kill him. It was his soul purpose. But Voldemort’s behavior, his demeanor, his attitude, it was constantly changing. Harry was able to survive the killing curse multiple times. It was Harry’s goal to destroy Voldemort. But Harry did it over hard work and intelligence. Voldemort was so hellbent on his death, he stopped truly paying attention to his ranks and even his own people were fleeing at the site of his survival. Harry Potter is so damn good. It’s beautifully written from the book point of view. And cinematically, it’s great the whole way thru.

The Ministry of Magic had no influence on the Muggle world as such. 99% of the turmoil was confined to the magical community. JK Rowling said that Voldemort never wanted to control the muggle world. He knew muggles could easily destroy the wizarding population very easily. They had huge armies, where magic would not be enough to win. So Voldemort never concerned himself with the muggle Prime Minister.

2:01 Harry even compares Scrimgeour to Barty Crouch Sr at one point in Half Blood Prince because Crouch and Scrimgeour sometimes imprisoned innocent people they suspected of being Death Eaters just to look like they were doing something. Crouch was right to authorise the Unforgivable Curses against actual Death Eaters yes because it was a "kill or be killed" war by that point but arresting innocents, trying to get Ludo Bagman sent to Azkaban for talking to Rookwood who he didn't know was a Death Eater just because Crouch didn't like Bagman and how Crouch treated his son at his trial ruined his reputation. Scrimgeour was similar since he arrested Stan Shunpike for bragging that he knew what the Death Eaters plans were in a pub, tried to get Harry to lie that everything was fine and that the Ministry had everything under control and spent more time trying to open the Snitch Dumbledore left Harry in his will than protecting the people.

I have always been interested as to what type of magic would be used, if any to build Hogwarts castle, and to repair it after the battle for Hogwarts.
Could the damage be repaired magically like Dumbledore demonstrated when he found Slughorn? Or does some of it need to be built or rebuilt with hands on labor.
Repairing damage magically has been demonstrated by advanced wizards in the Magical Creatures movies.

The part about what happen to Rufus Scrimgeour in his last few days leading to his death is not in the movie but perhaps in the book or on Pottermore. I do not recall reading this and is missing in my memory. I only recall the final message that was sent from the ministry of magic warning Harry. Telling him that Minister Scrimgeour was killed and the Ministry was overtaken.
Scrimgeour is underrated. Even under Cruciatus curse he didnt give Voldemort important Information. But nobody even remembers him.
Scrimgeour was a legend, totally underrated and undervalued character.
While he did have his own faults, his sacrifice to keep Harry safe and away from Voldemort was, though his final act, the best thing he ever did.

I always imagine the prime minister hearing of the fall of the ministry and promptly placing all military forces in Britain on high alert while the queens guard rushing good old Lizzie to France or Canada.
I also regularly imagine that moment when Nevile has just finished his this is not over speech and out of nowhere RAF jets do a fly by.

The fantastic beasts movies and fourth Harry Potter book introduced that where was an international body of wizarding nations, kinda like the United Nations. So what happened when Ministry of Magic was overthrown by Voldemort? Did other wizarding communities did nothing?

I have heard conflicting opinions regarding Rufus Schrimshaw, (spelled wrong?), being a poor minister. The video does state that he was a, "...renowned aura..." Based on what I have learned he was handed a very bad situation, yet he attempted to solve important issues. Basically his heart was in the right place, but by his time, try as he may, he was out-gunned. In my humble opinion, individuals in such high ranking positions don't get murdered due to going along to get along.
Why was he replaced by a death-eater who was under the imperious curse? Why go so far as to place an allie that must be heavily coerced to follow orders?

Haaa every rime I see the movies past 1 and 2 I somewhere miss the safe cute feeling of the new magical world, hogwarts, the houses etc the first 2 gave me 🤪. Maybe some ideas for future videos. Congrats on keeping making stuff up to fill your channel tho, just make sure it stays interesting!

Scrimagour couldn't have been interrogated for even a full day. He was just at The Burriw for Harry's birthday and the will the prior night. The next evening, Kingsley's patronus announces his death at the wedding.
I hated how in the film they left it ambiguous as to whether or not Thicknesse was Imperiused or joined the Death Eaters of his own free will. And you do need to do more Game of Thrones videos. I miss them :'(
