I never realized that the reason Voldemort could never feel love was because he was conceived while his father was under a love potion.. And his mom was never really shown love by her family, so she felt like she had to use a potion to be loved. An example of "hurt people hurt people"
Exactly, she goes so far to say that if Merope had chosen to live and raise him, things would've been entirely different. (Or maybe not, but she's the creator, not me.) Tom Riddle was born unloved by anyone. This is by and large a very damaging circumstance for humans, Magical or Muggle.@@foxtaunt

For someone so obsessed with immortality, Voldemort lived a pretty average lifespan, only 71 years old. Turns out that him meddling with fate is what caused most of his downfall.
there is actually a really good short story(?) like this called “ The Appointment in Samarra” basically this servant in Bagdad sees death and is absolutely terrified so he goes to his master and begs him to let him take a horse to Samarra the master agrees and the man goes to samarra. then he goes to the marketplace where the servant saw death and he asks her why she scared the servant, she tells him she did not mean to make a threatening gesture at him but that she was only surprised to see him in Bagdad because she had an appointment with him in Samarra. The full story: “There was a merchant in Bagdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions and in a little while the servant came back, white and trembling, and said, Master, just now when I was in the marketplace I was jostled by a woman in the crowd and when I turned I saw it was Death that jostled me. She looked at me and made a threatening gesture, now, lend me your horse, and I will ride away from this city and avoid my fate. I will go to Samarra and there Death will not find me. The merchant lent him his horse, and the servant mounted it, and he dug his spurs in its flanks and as fast as the horse could gallop he went. Then the merchant went down to the marketplace and he saw me standing in the crowd and he came to me and said, Why did you make a threating gesture to my servant when you saw him this morning? That was not a threatening gesture, I said, it was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Bagdad, for I had an appointment with him tonight in Samarra.”

It’s crazy that Voldemort or Tom Riddles biggest fear was death. He would have lived longer if he just became the most powerful Wizard of all time. Made people charm him into liking hjm as he could capably do after school with looks and skill and fake empathy, and rule people in an underground way where his true motive is evil where he pulls the strings to pretend that the wizarding world belongs to pure breeds & half’s & muggles do their bidding, but thinking it’s a high end death eater egos taken control of the world while he pulls the strings in the background & is in full command of both worlds with his ultimate magic
@athena6832 That may be true, Athena, but Voldemort also never lost his love of vanity. I think that was the problem. Ugly doesn't equal bad. Snape, Neville, Dobby...attractive? Erm...not to me...but they are all using dark magic, even murder. Don't be blinded by the halo effect.
You know the worst part for Voldy is that if he had just lived a normal life he would have lived longer. He was so scared of dying so he did all this bs to stay alive and yet thats what ended up killing him. Ah I love irony.
Well we could of got all that in the Half Blood Prince but they cut all the good things out and left in the dumb romance stories which honestly ruined The Potter movies for me. The books are far better.
He loved Hogwarts probably as much as Harry if not more. Because Harry had the Weasley home in his life. But Tom Riddle had no other place he could've ever lived. To him: Hogwarts and Magic was his life, identity, everything. He existed due to it, because His mother used magic to trap his father and then conceived him. And hence, Tom Riddle never loved a person ever. He only loved Magic and Hogwarts.
jk rowling purposefully drew parallels between Harry and Voldemort. Both of them considered Hogwarts their first true home and both had no idea about magic until they were invited to Hogwarts.
I don't think Tom loving Hogwarts fits the parallel. I think Tom saw Hogwarts and where he could be himself so more of a place where he belonged rather than loved to belong. He created so much trouble killed moaning martle a cussed hangrid and so forth. Tom was blinded by his own delusions of grandeur.
The video literally starts by explaining that mom and dad Voldemort had a fun time while influenced by a love potion which made him unable to feel love but okay.
Callousness, lack of empathy, risk taking, manipulation and coercive control, thriving in highly controlled environment, learning the rules to know how to game them. All the characteristics of psychopath.
Voldemort is basically a teenage girl Has tiara Has long nails Has diary Has attitude Has gang Has emotional relationship with pet Hangs out in girls bathroom Has necklace Has ring Is obsessed with a boy
His story is really interesting. The most interesting part is the fact that either Neville and Harry could be the chosen one, but Voldemort saw Harry as his equal (half blood) and not Neville (pure blood). Edit: Really awesome insights in this topic guys, I appreciate it all. I went to the books and got some evidence to help with the most debated aspect in the comments: In chapter 17 of the Chamber of Secrets, Tom Riddle tells Harry, and I quote, "there are strange likenesses between us, Harry Potter. Even you must have noticed. Both half-bloods, orphans, raised by Muggles" Further, in the Order of the Phoenix, in chapter 37, Dumbledore explains, and I quote, "‘You are forgetting the next part of the prophecy, the final identifying feature of the boy who could vanquish Voldemort … Voldemort himself would mark him as his equal. And so he did, Harry. He chose you, not Neville...‘ He chose the boy he thought most likely to be a danger to him,’ said Dumbledore. ‘And notice this, Harry: he chose, not the pureblood (which, according to his creed, is the only kind of wizard worth being or knowing) but the half-blood, like himself."
Merope Gaunt’s story seems so tragic. She came from a broken, abusive family, and tried to start a normal, happy family for herself, but wound up destroying that with her misguided use of a love potion. Her husband left her when she stopped using the love potion, and that same love potion made her son incapable of giving or receiving love. In spite of having a terrible father, she still used his name for her son’s middle name, because it was the customary thing to do.
I mean, she basically r@ped Tom Riddle Senior so I'm going to have to disagree with you there... also, J.K Rowling stated that the love potion didn't mean her son couldn't feel love. It was just symbolism. If he was raised with love by Merope, he could've.
Master[T] well I thought so myself until I read them all during one week of holidays😅 and you’ll get so much stuff that was explained poorly or not at all in the movies... it’s worth it, trust me
It's actually not uncommon for sociopaths/psychopaths to collect trophies. Even those that become serial killers does so. So the fact Voldemort collected trophies even at a young age shouldn't be surprising. I doubt Voldemort was aware of it though, otherwise he might not collect trophies for his actions considering he wished to be different.
@PrinceLarryKoopa Don't know. But many do collect trophies: Ted Bundy (heads), Ahmad Suradji (Saliva), Alexander Pichukin (Chessboard squares), Jerome Burdos (Feet), Charles Albright (Eyes), Ed Gein (Faces), and Anatiky Onoprienko (Underwear) for example. Even Jeffrey Dalmer collected trophies but I'll let you decide to look it up as it might get the comment taken down. with me pushing it with some of the other mentions That fact was even used on Dexter's MO in the Dexter series with Dexter collecting blood samples from his victims.
@PrinceLarryKoopa I knew from watching crime shows and documentaries that serial killers collect trophies. As for finding who collected what specific, I looked that up myself. Although I guess Ed Gein should of been obvious one to me since Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise is one of the horror movie villains based off him.
The other ones are Norman Bates from Psycho, and Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs. Although now that I think of it, Buffalo Bill also should of been a reminder what Ed Gein's trophies were.
Interesting Fact: Ted Bundy also was an inspiration behind Buffallo Bill among other serial killers. But Ed Gein is the one most referrerd to that I know of when it comes to Buffalo Bill. Most likely because along with female mask, Gein used remains a female body like Buffalo Bill along with furniture like the Sawyer/Slaughter/Hewizt family in Texax Chainsaw Massacre. (which Leatherface is a member of).
See what you mean! Although when I worked at an orphanage in 2017, several of the children had family visitors. Most of the kids were "left" in our care due to their parents lacking the economic needs to raise a child. Still, it sounds really funny hhahah

They should make a movie about the entire backstory of Voldemort. Like from him being conceived to sometime after the night he kill Harry's parents. Maybe even show Snape's reaction to Lily's death of course by recycling the footage from Deathly Hallows Part 2. No one can replace Alan Rickman! They must keep it respectful if/when they do a movie about the full origin of Voldemort.
They should make a netflix series of voldermort from all of school years at hogwarts. 5 seasons. Would be awsome. Mirror image of Harry Potter but the evil decisions he makes.
there's actually a french movie director who's in the progress of making a series about voldemort's past story, i cant remember his name but ithink the title of the series was Lord Voldemort Origins
It wouldn’t be that interesting. Voldemort is not a dynamic character at all and is motivated by a singular vision so he would not make a great protagonist.
@@christianondo9637 - I think it could be definitely interesting. His "singular purpose" wouldn't be all that clear when he's just a kid. He probably wouldn't really know that the things he wants are even possible, and really, his fear of death is rooted in very relateable emotions: he despises that his mother wasn't there for him, and despises the thing that took her from him. He's tempted with the powers of magic but eventually shocked that there could be a limit to them, that even he - handsome, star student, Tom Riddle - would be lost to the terrifying maw of death, just like his would-be mom. He used to be nothing more than an unwanted nobody at the orphanage. Worse - people said he was a freak. But now as a wizard among teachers that "understood" him and praised him for his specialness and unlimited potential... could he not now triumph over the terror of death? He's perhaps the only individual who could respond to an existential crisis with "No... I WON'T die." He wouldn't ever come to terms with it like everyone else, because he's the best wizard of his generation. He's a hero. He WON'T die. In a way, you'd kinda root for him until you learn what levels Tom's willing to sink to to do this. Another way to make him interesting is to have him seem well intentioned at first. Of course, Tom is ruthless and physically unable to feel love, but that doesn't mean you can't have him try. Knowing what Dumbledore saw in Tom, it wouldn't be hard to imagine Dumbledore mentoring him a little and trying to turn him to good. He's constantly saying that love is the strongest magic, after all. So maybe Tom tries to love... tries to feel guilt for the muggle orphans he wronged, to forgive his parents for not being there for him, and to bond with his classmates... and discovers that he just... can't. The most powerful magic, unable to be mastered by him?? Tom Riddle?? That can't be true. No, Dumbledore must be lying. Tom's above this. If Tom can't feel love, then he doesn't need to. HIS magic will be so much stronger! I'd love to see him start out trying to be a good person, only to become subtly more twisted with every passing year. He's go through the typical stages of grief: denial that he will die, that his parents were so messed up, that he genuinely can't feel. Bargaining by surrounding himself with loyal "friends" and researching such things as the philosopher's stone. Periods of depression... And finally acceptance, when he gives up on love and gives in fully to hatred and scheming without the slightest remorse. To him, the world wronged him and he's allowed to do whatever he wants to change it into what he thinks it should be.
I'm a very casual Potter fan but have been enjoying Hogwart's legacy and recently started exploring more through (excellent) content such as this. One standing joke I made watching the films was "who's this years Dark arts teacher going to be". Finding out there was a reason it kept happening made my day - thank you.
It's ironic that the Gaunts valued their pure blood status above all else, yet it was injecting some Muggle DNA into the family tree that resulted in one of the most powerful wizards of all time.
There's debate in these comments whether Harry survived because he was was in posession of all three Hallows making him the Master of Death, or because he controlled the Elder Wand at that time, but I actually think it's neither of those two things (though they wouldn't have hurt him). Remember: the main factor and crucial point is that Harry had to meet death WILLINGLY, and WITHOUT RESISTANCE - much like how the 3rd Peverell brother met death as a friend and embraced him and went with him willingly. That meant that upon Voldemort hitting Harry with the killing curse, it was actually possible that EITHER soul inside of Harry (his own untarnished whole soul or the fragment of Voldemort's) could have been the one to die. Remember that while Harry is in limbo with Dumbledore, Dumbledore tells Harry he has a choice - he can choose to go back to Hogwarts and try to finish Voldemort off (this would mean that Voldemort's soul fragment is the one that's destroyed by Voldemort's killing curse, NOT Harry's soul) OR alternatively, Harry can choose to board a train and go "on" - meaning Harry can accept death and allow himself to die (which would mean Harry's soul is the one that's destroyed, and as Harry is a horcrux, presumably Voldemort's fragment would also be destroyed as Harry's body is vessel that would also destroyed). Both choices would have resulted in the destruction of fragment of Voldemort's soul inside Harry, but only one choice would allow Harry to come back and be alive. Harry would have had this choice in limbo regardless of what wand Voldemort used to kill him in the forest, and regardless of if he had possession of any of the Hallows. The only Hallow Dumbledore ever really meant Harry to have (minus the cloak which was rightfully his as a descendent of the 1st brother) was the Resurrection Stone, which is why Dumbledore concealed it in the snitch in such a way that Harry would only be able to access it when he really needed it - that is, the moment when he knew he had to sacrifice himself ("I am about to die"). Dumbledore knew Harry would need the encouragement and support from his loved ones in order to give him the strength to go willingly to die. The other benefit of Harry willing to give himself up was that his sacrifice was essentially the same as Lily's - Voldemort said that if Harry gave himself up he'd call off the battle, so by voluntarily going to die to save the wizards battling at the castle, Harry ended up putting the same protection on them that Lily put on him when she chose to die for him. That's why after Harry comes back from limbo, none of Voldemort's spells can hold on the crowd.
Actually, it doesn't have anything to do with the Hallows. It's because the magic of Harry's mother's sacrifice lives on inside Voldemort's rebuilt body. He figured that by using Harry's blood he'd be protecting himself against Harry, and while it did enable him to touch Harry during the graveyard scene, it actually worked the opposite way from what he intended, protecting Harry from him later in the forest. As long as that sacrifice lived on inside Voldemort, it insured that he himself could never kill Harry unless Harry voluntarily chose to move on.
When Vold. first tried to kill Harry as an infant and by Harry's mom sacrificing herself to save him, that put a protection spell on Harry and that's why Vold. exploded After Harry destroyed most of the horcuxes, only 2 remained, one was Harry himself and the other was Nagini When Vold. killed Harry in the forest, he didn't die and he didn't need the resurrection stone nor the deathly hallows to come back, simply cause Vold. did nothing but break the protection spell of Harry's mom and destroy his before the last hocrux Btw, Vold. could have killed Harry on the same night his parents die and even after that , he could have killed Harry anytime he wanted if he just used any other spell which could have caused Harry to lose blood and die a normal human death , but the author never paid attention to this and just made Vold. seems like a complete idiot lol cause that's how authors write , they only care about the good boy so they make the bad guy seems like a complete idiot. We have seen Harry bleed more than once, he was a wizard but nothing more than a human wizard, that mom sacrificing love cringe cliche only gave him protection against the AK spell, however an AK47 would have done the job nicely for Vold.

The theory I always had was Riddle already knew how to make a horcrux and did so the night he killed his father and used the family ring. I think he mainly talked to Slughorn to see what he thought about splitting the soul more than once.
He killed the muggle born girl (by accident) before asking if one could make more than one horcrux since he already made the diary into one, he killed his father after his graduation. Using his damn charms plus his unmatched excitement in always wanting to learn more and being brilliant at it is what got him to easily get permission slips into the restricted area.

It was a series of bullshit that blocked his plans, which would have definitely worked otherwise First attempt on Harry: Lily's sacrifice and his decision to spare her (by Snape's request). If he had just killed Lily on the spot and not given time or circumstance for her to make a willing sacrifice, and he could have just killed Harry and been done with it. They say the bond of love stopped him but really all he could have done was kill Lily straight up, so she didn't even have a choice, and thus could not protect Harry First Year: Lily's continuing protection that Harry used to kill Quirell. That, and the fact he was tied to an idiot and could not perform magic on his own Second Year: Fawkes tears and him coming down at the precise moment right before Harry died. Third Year: Nothing actually happened since he never showed up Fourth year: Priori Incantem, the pure coincedence of their wands being of a same core and unable to duel. He did trick Harry successfully and could have killed him right there, since he did an excellent job at kidnapping him, overcoming the love protection, and leaving him defenseless. He even could best Harry in combat 1v1, but once again, mechanics just stopped all that Fifth Year: Dumbledore coming at the exact time. Sixth Year: Malfoy disabling Dumbledore, so Snape could not get the Elder Wand, which would ultimately cause his downfall. Seventh Year: Killing Harry unaware of Malfoy disabling Dumbledore, since his plans to win the Elder Wand and kill Harry would definitely have worked if not for that one last bit. In short, Harry was brave and did use his love to defeat Voldemort, but he was weak compared to magical talent and he wasn't even invulnerable. Voldemort tricked him into isolation several times but lost due to mere luck or his own pride.

there is actually a really good short story(?) like this called “ The Appointment in Samarra”
basically this servant in Bagdad sees death and is absolutely terrified so he goes to his master and begs him to let him take a horse to Samarra the master agrees and the man goes to samarra. then he goes to the marketplace where the servant saw death and he asks her why she scared the servant, she tells him she did not mean to make a threatening gesture at him but that she was only surprised to see him in Bagdad because she had an appointment with him in Samarra.
The full story:
“There was a merchant in Bagdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions and in a little while the servant came back, white and trembling, and said, Master, just now when I was in the marketplace I was jostled by a woman in the crowd and when I turned I saw it was Death that jostled me.

Facts
I heard something about a new movie being worked on after the fantastic beasts movies are over.
But he bang Bellatrix

His story is really interesting. The most interesting part is the fact that either Neville and Harry could be the chosen one, but Voldemort saw Harry as his equal (half blood) and not Neville (pure blood).
Edit: Really awesome insights in this topic guys, I appreciate it all. I went to the books and got some evidence to help with the most debated aspect in the comments: In chapter 17 of the Chamber of Secrets, Tom Riddle tells Harry, and I quote, "there are strange likenesses between us, Harry Potter. Even you must have noticed. Both half-bloods, orphans, raised by Muggles"
Further, in the Order of the Phoenix, in chapter 37, Dumbledore explains, and I quote, "‘You are forgetting the next part of the prophecy, the final identifying feature of the boy who could vanquish Voldemort … Voldemort himself would mark him as his equal.

Incase anyone is wondering, Norman Bates got Ed Gein's mama's boy personality and need to keep mama close but hidden.

You better make the script and take it to Netflix asap we need that
@@christianondo9637 - I think it could be definitely interesting.
To him, the world wronged him and he's allowed to do whatever he wants to change it into what he thinks it should be.
nah theyl ruin it

Dumbledore also isn't in limbo. He meets death as an old friend. Death is in disguse as Dumbledore and gives harry a choice to stay or go back.
When Vold. first tried to kill Harry as an infant and by Harry's mom sacrificing herself to save him, that put a protection spell on Harry and that's why Vold. exploded
After Harry destroyed most of the horcuxes, only 2 remained, one was Harry himself and the other was Nagini
When Vold. killed Harry in the forest, he didn't die and he didn't need the resurrection stone nor the deathly hallows to come back, simply cause Vold. did nothing but break the protection spell of Harry's mom and destroy his before the last hocrux
Btw, Vold. could have killed Harry on the same night his parents die and even after that , he could have killed Harry anytime he wanted if he just used any other spell which could have caused Harry to lose blood and die a normal human death , but the author never paid attention to this and just made Vold. seems like a complete idiot lol cause that's how authors write , they only care about the good boy so they make the bad guy seems like a complete idiot.

@@soccerchick559 I'm not sure Rowling considered the implications of love potion. voldemort struggled to kill one guy for 16 years. and this is the dude that the majority of the wizarding world feared? nah, imma head out-
Wait for me!🥺😂😊
It was a series of bullshit that blocked his plans, which would have definitely worked otherwise
First attempt on Harry: Lily's sacrifice and his decision to spare her (by Snape's request). If he had just killed Lily on the spot and not given time or circumstance for her to make a willing sacrifice, and he could have just killed Harry and been done with it. They say the bond of love stopped him but really all he could have done was kill Lily straight up, so she didn't even have a choice, and thus could not protect Harry
First Year: Lily's continuing protection that Harry used to kill Quirell. That, and the fact he was tied to an idiot and could not perform magic on his own
Second Year: Fawkes tears and him coming down at the precise moment right before Harry died.
Third Year: Nothing actually happened since he never showed up
Fourth year: Priori Incantem, the pure coincedence of their wands being of a same core and unable to duel. He did trick Harry successfully and could have killed him right there, since he did an excellent job at kidnapping him, overcoming the love protection, and leaving him defenseless. He even could best Harry in combat 1v1, but once again, mechanics just stopped all that
Fifth Year: Dumbledore coming at the exact time.
Bro it’s so easy killing someone, he could’ve just used a knife and cut his throat but they are so extra
