  • I absolutely love using KOReader on all my ebook readers. I have done Tutorials on how to install KOReader on Kobo e-Readers before, but I have got questions from my viewers on how to install it on Android based ebook readers. I thought it was so easy to do that so no tutorial was needed but apparently some users wanted that so here is a tutorial on how to install KOReader on e-Readers that runs Android operating system. I show how to do it on both my Onyx Boox Palma and my Bigme B751c ebook readers. One B&W Carta 1200 e-reader and one Color Kaleido 3 ebook reader. Both running Android. It works about the same on all Android based e-readers that you can install Android apps on that you download as .apk files.

    I always assumed it to be very tedious to install an APK file, imagining that I have to download on PC and transfer it to the tablet. I never would have known that it could be done this effortlessly. Thank you for making this video for a seemingly self-explaining topic! (For me it was not, until I saw you showing how this works 😊 Thank you!)

      Hmmm several things are not working on my Palma. For example, koreader will not control the front light. Is there a way to fix that?

    • @svartling
      @svartling  7 місяців тому

      I swipe up and down on left and right side of the screen. The built in Palma controls. No you can unfortunately not control that in KOReader.

      @@svartling hello! I have another question: does controlling the front light from within Koreader work on any of the other boox devices? For example, the Go Color 7? Or does not work on android, period? I much prefer having that ability so I will stick with kobo if that’s the case. But I really like the Go Color 7. Thanks!

      @oinkydoodle it doesn’t work on android devices what I know of if you can’t turn that feature off in android. If it’s off in android you can try to use that feature in KOReader

    Thanks for this straight to the point tutorial. Koreader have an issue when the Boox goes to sleep mode. Koreader is displaying a black screen when waking up and I have to restart the app, which is not convenient. Any idea?

      That doesn’t happen to me so I don’t know what’s the problem

    Really nice instructions Stefan, how about Koreader Updates, does it update automaticly or do you have to download and install the file seperetly from github ?

    • @svartling
      @svartling  7 місяців тому

      You can update from the menu in the settings of KOReader. Manually

    • @svartling
      @svartling  7 місяців тому

      But it’s a very smooth manual update. So no downloads separately. KOReader do it for you.

    I recently bought a Boox Page, my first e-reader and first Android device. I followed your directions for installing KOReader without difficulty. Previously I had used Libby to downloaded two files from my local library, and read parts of each with Libby. (wifi was off when I was reading so I know they were downloaded and not streamed.) How do I find those books when I use KOReader?

    • @svartling
      @svartling  5 місяців тому

      They are probably DRM protected because they are from the library. Then you can’t read them in KOReader. That’s why you can’t find them in KOReader

    Hi Stefan, thank you for sharing the step-by-step guide. I just want to ask if this can be done to the Sony PRS-600 reader? Thank you so much!

    How do you get books onto the Ko Reader without side-loading, which I don't know how to do? Is there a Ko Reader store?

    • @svartling
      @svartling  Місяць тому

      No you have to own the books yourself and they need to be drm free. Then you can add them by wireless transfer or sideloading

    How do you get the books within each device to sync with each other?

    • @svartling
      @svartling  Місяць тому

      With KOReader you sadly need to add them manually to all readers first then they sync reading progress automatically
