I think the best thing about this fight is that everyone knew this was one sided, but they just wanted to see Homelander get his shit rocked
Omni-Man: a complex anti-hero you love/hate, and can sympathize with by the end of season 1, but your view of him is changed.
Homelander: bully, egotistical, narcissistic, corporate, lab rat that you just hate, and can’t wait to see him meet his end-knowing he is a big fish in a small pond.

Yeah, the doctor can be killed during regeneration, there’s no way for Homelander to hurt Omniman. Even the “sonic scream” was used liberally, since it’s a VERY specific pitch that hurts Viltrumites.

Yeah, this is probably the most accurate Death Battle ever. There are other one sided stomps and they show them very well, but yeah, Homelander never stood a chance. And yet there are some who for some reason think Homelander holds a candle to Superman. It’s an absurd claim, since Superman is to Omni-Man what Omni-Man is to Homelander, but just a billion times more.
Deadpool vs The Mask was another one-sided fight
I mean, I suppose Homelander could technically beat Superman if you took the weakest possible versions of Superman. For instance, Smallville Season 1 Clark was very young and his powers far from fully developed. IIRC, he was occasionally bruised by gunfire even when kryptonite wasn't involved, he was hard to track visually but still moved like a blur rather than pulling off any kind of FTL feats, he couldn't fly, he didn't have laser vision, and so on and so forth. Homelander could most likely wipe the floor with Smallville Season 1 Clark.
But I can't help feeling like the fact that we need to put so many limitations on Superman in order to give Homelander an advantageous position in the fight just kind of reinforces the sheer difference between him and Supes.

Fun fact: the equilibrium weakness is only to a single specific frequency. It took some time for Robot with a lot of info about viltrumites to find the specific frequency.

While this is somewhat true, your way of framing it is misleading. Viltrumites over the course of the comics show a consistent weakness to all forms of loud sound attacks from anybody, including foes who have no awareness of their weakness. Normal sound attacks aren't as debilitating as the frequency designed specifically to cripple them, but still, something like a scream attack from a street-level foe is shown to at least be unpleasant for them. Additionally, the "special frequency" used to attack them seems to benefit more from amplitude than frequency, considering it literally makes their ears bleed.
When you realize it’s so easy for him to just break Homelander’s body like tofu, you question why the earlier punches weren’t doing too much, well you also realize along with the advice like “you have to turn with the punch” it becomes obvious Omni-man was just toying with him before finishing it off.
Learning by tanking. He does that.
What’s truly insane about this fight is the fact that Omni-Man was holding back the entire fight. He could have one shot Homelander easily, and Homelander wouldn’t have been able to react to it at all.
He could've simply take him off the atmosphere like nothing, bro can leave the earth in less than 10 seconds
Omni-Man didn't just want to kill Homelander; he wanted to thoroughly humiliate him first. But he stopped playing and went for that kill as soon as Homelander threatened Mark.
Nolan: "I don't really wanna kill you."
John: "I'll just kill your son-"
Nolan: "Never mind."
Yup, like the only damage the entire fight he takes is the ear drums and the eyes, and the latter was surface level as he just closed his eyes

Omni-Man casually pulled a spaceship away from a blackhole and before hand was just standing in front of it without getting pulled in.
I mean, blackholes don't have that strong a pull until the event horizon, its a modest pull but then it becomes the spaghtifying monster once you cross the event horizen
@@Sarah12471 Black holes may not be able to completely overtake light from outside the event horizon, but they are still strong enough to adjust the path of light enough that it gets pulled in anyway. So in other words, yeah the pull of a black hole is weaker from outside the event horizon, but it's still INCREDIBLY strong.

It's funny in the comics, because the one time he fights someone "equal" to him, while he does get quite a few hits in, he gets wrecked off-screen and we next see him as just a pile of meat.

I like this battle because it proves that even tho an unquestionably predictable stomp is about to happen in a story, it can still make for a fun watch if it's handled in a right way.
That and people want to see Homelander get his ass beat
I love how the theme; 'Diabolical Invincible Me' spells out the fight. Not just in that it's clearly in the style of Invincible's music, but the lyrics.
"Struck out like a match, astounding that you think that you could beat me. Strike back, what was that just now? As the plane goes down, do I make it look easy?"

He actually does! It's muffled because he has his mouth full, but you can distinctly hear Homelander says "No! Please!" right before Omni-man delivers the KO.
I think he was, but no one could fathom what he was saying due to HIS JAW BARELY HANGING ONTO HIS FACE! I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I'm trying to emphasize how cool it is.
He did, it was just muffled by his broken jaw, shattered vocal chords, and definitely his heart being in his mouth.
To be fair to Homelander, real world physics makes it impossible to lift a plane due to the fact he would have no leverage due to size of human and plane.
He would literally go through it like a bullet due to being 80 times smaller than it.

Pulling from the back wouldn’t really help either since plane is still accelerating and would just end up with it being ripped apart.
And even if the plane was sturdy enough to stay whole, the whiplash from being pulled back so suddenly might just end up with passengers heavily injured or just straight dying from the amount of force of being pulled back.

The point Nux was making is Homelander wasn't strong enough to stop the plane, which isn't true, he is, but real life physics don't work like cartoon physics.
Whatever part of the plane Homelander would've used to stop the plane would've collapsed under the pressure. Either way stopping a plane is nothing to a meteor, but still this comment was just pointing out Nux's strength argument.

They weren't saying experience was the deciding factor. They were summarizing the fight overall, that that particular fact alone could determine how this fight would play out. Its just that the massive difference of strength and speed added to it even further.
also experience is how omniman got such a lead in strength and speed. i dont think he just came out the womb lifting texas sized meteors and moving faster than light.

technically, Viltrumites arent suseptable to sonic attacks. They have a unique equalibrium in order to maintain flight, but can be incopacitated by a SPECIFIC sonic frequency. This one sound frequency interupts the movement of fluid within the inner ear, causing extreme pain and illness. They are not vulnerable to high frequency sound waves in the same manner as the comic book villain, "Venom".

They are inconvenienced even by random street level foes throwing scream attacks at them, and more importantly, the "special frequency" obviously hurts them more through amplitude than a specific frequency. While yes, there absolutely is a sound that was designed specifically to hurt them as much as possible, that does not mean that specific sound is required to hurt them at all, nor that the frequency is the only contributing factor to its effectiveness.
@@GigaLigma You're saying this but where did you get this information from, what chapter? Because I have the compendiums and I only ever remember it being because of a specific frequency. These sound attacks you mention most likely do the same amount of damage as any strong force colliding with their bodies.
It might be that homelander hits that frequency for a fraction of a second.

Honestly i prefer accurate one sided stomps, as so far they have been some of the highest quality episodes so far
@@Sarah12471 That depends. Nobody wants to see an "accurate" stomp with their favorite character on the other end, that just sucks. Homelander's is so great because NOBODY wants to see Homelander win. With characters who have more of an actual fanbase, you should always keep in mind that they will be very disappointed if their favorite character is featured in something like Death Battle just to get totally shit on the whole time. Even if it's not entirely accurate, it's good to make it seem like they have a fighting chance, at least in the animated segmetn.

Yeah not gonna lie I thought Homelander would win because of having Extra Powers, however my Opinion changed when I saw how Crazy OP Viltrumites are I knew Omni-Man and his Mustache made this a One Sided Bloodbath of a Fight, the ONLY Way Homie could Win is in literally Mortal Kombat 1.

The most recent episode of invincible really proved a viltrumite's power with the scene of nolan floating next to a black hole
And the dude was contemplating suicide at the time, meaning he was _barely_ attempting to resist the singularity's gravitational pull.
About the plane, it was because without comic book physics the plane would have just came apart around Homelander’s hands.
Yeah, planes aren't built for being held by human hands with super strength. It'd be like stepping onto an immovable needle, expecting that it will hold your weight up against the gravity pushing you down.
If he tried superman return style he probably would've destroyed it, there might be a realistic way to stop it but he's too stupid and lazy.
The problem with the plain wasn’t its weight. It was said if he had tried he would have gone right through the bottom of the plain when he started putting strength into it. Based on that explanation Nolan wouldn’t have been able to lift it either in the boys universe. (You could argue he was lying for his ego or because he wanted to let the plain crash and blame the government for not sending him early) Either way he gets stomped here.
Here's the thing. This scene with Homelander is a reference to the fact that Superman doesn't abide by human laws of physics.
Scientists bashed on Superman for being able to stop a plane from crashing mid air, and gently putting it on the ground. It is scientifically impossible. With his immense strength focusing on a single point of the plane (due to holding it with his hands), it would create so much pressure that it would rip through the plane.
The comic book writers then gave the explanation that Superman can give the plane its own gravitational field or whatever, so that he can essentially control the flight/falling speed of the plane itself. It's like a form of complete telekinesis, but only works when he touches the objects with his hands.
Homelander not being able to hold the plane otherwise he would rip a hole through it, is based on the scientific explanation on why Superman doing so was bs.

Eh, Mark’s a lot more inexperienced, so he’d probably get hit with the sonic scream a lot harder. Nolan basically shrugged that shit off like it stung a little.
When this was announced, everybody knew who would win. And it actually seemed like fans of the Boys actually generally wanted Omni-Man to win. Even the official the Boys Twitter account talked about it.
As for Homelander lifting the plane, I don't think we can say that he was necessarily too weak to lift it. He says himself that he can't lift it because he doesn't have any leverage to carry something so much bigger than him, and that if he tried to push it back up, he'd probably end up pushing right through the plane and destroying it anyway. All that said, it doesn't change the fact that even high-balling him, Homelander is leagues below Omni-Man in terms of strength. The only thing he really has over Omni-Man at all is the versatility of his powerset.
Esp with Viltramites making their own leverage
His actor is 5’11. In the comic butcher is stated to be a towering man standing around 6’6. And in a shot of him and homelander face to face homelander TOWERS him.
The Viltrumites' weakness isn't just any high frequency sound, it's one certain pitch that Cecil found while they studied Mark's biology, and Dinosaurus found it on accident. He used it to put Mark in a coma-like state after he flooded all of the major cities around the world. So unless Homelander was just lucky that his pitch was that particular pitch, they fucced up on that part.
The one fight nobody argued and nobody minded because it was satisfying seeing Homelander get dunked on.
Earth had a better homelander, the immortal, I remember him being around earth helping and saving people from thousands of years, he fought against extraterrestrial treats and also super villains, he has a bulk of experience as well as being one of the strongest things on earth beyond being almost indestructible, Omni-man not only beat him twice, but once he was with all the best and strongest heroes the world had even seemed, and another time he was fighting against him together with his son, another viltrumita after being shot by an orbital laser and fighting an against a gigantic monster that could alone be earth treating.
Homelander never had a chance
The best part about this Death Battle was how both the Invincible Twitter account and The Boys Twitter account were both rooting for Omni-man.

Unsurprisingly death battle got that fact wrong, Viltrumites aren’t vulnerable to high frequencies but a very specific one that took weeks of study on mark’s body to discover in the comics
Homelander got extremely lucky to get the right frequency ig. In the end, it gave him maybe 2 seconds of extra life

Death battle usually summarizes the story because a character’s personality are sometimes a deciding factors.

So how did they kill homelander in his verse? Also I'm sure stained if he could harm homelander woukd live to try with others as well.
Much respect for actually doing the research. It’s very annoying when someone says that they don’t know one of the combatants and yet they fully believe the one they do know will win out of sheer bias. Worse still when they don’t bother to pay attention to the analysis and STILL get salty when their favorite character loses.
Last death battle reaction he said that he didn't know much about the doctor, but still believe that the doctor would win(even if he wants rick to win) from what little he knew about the doctor.
Lot of the time Death Battles does not research the characters properly though. Like a solid 1/3rd of their matchups are just wrong. Examples:
*Ben 10 vs Green lantern winner GL:* Ben10 is WAY stronger. Alien X exists in all times at once, can change things with a thought. And GL ignores Omnitrix's safety procedures. This is ignoring the fact that they use a composite version of Green Lantern and don't for Ben10, opting to use one of his weakest iterations.
*Madara vs Aizen winner Madara:* Aizen can manipulate ALL senses making him nigh unkillable without hax to negate it, and is fighting universal opponents at end of series, he only lost to Ichigo because he refused to use his sword's power vs Ichigo wanting to prove he was superior. Madara lost to below planetary opponents.
*Raven vs Twilight winner Raven:* Twilight is an outerversal character by the end of the comics. Raven does not hold a candle.
*Skywalker vs Harry Potter winner Skywalker:* Because for some reason lightsabers can now deflect literal magic.
I could go on... but yeah.

@@HeilRay Madara does NOT have better Hax. Aizen again, can control all senses, and it's not a genjutsu so Madara does not have resistance to it.
Not to mention the Hogyoku that literally just grants wishes.

I like the idea that AdamEve and Invincible having children and practically giving birth to literal immortal beings. Like its insane to think that there might be no way to practically kill an AdamEve with Viltrumite blood of one of the strongest of their kind
Death battle isn’t doing this with people who are pretty much equal anymore… they do battles based off of popular comparisons.
Homelander killing Debbie in the animation feels like an equivalent to him of the scene where they killed John Wick's dog

It really wouldn’t. Invincible could withstand punches from his father. Homelander cant. By the end Invincible is literally Invincible
Invincible is more like a younger inexperienced viltrumite(which he is, but a little weaker due to being human partly, and not reaching further than that yet, also not training AS much as viltrumites due since being kids), but he has a LOT More experience fighting superpowered people than homelander does. Even EARLY early invincible.
The only chance homelander has is if we are talking about fresh superpowers mark.
But if you mean, OVERALL closer, then yeah, it is, not MUCH closer, closer nonetheless.

It was a one-off special episode of Death Battle, but I think Excalibur vs Raiden is easily up there for one of the most one-sided Death Battles too.
I'm a huge fan of both Warframe and Metal Gear Rising, but Raiden only gets speed over Excalibur. 12% c to 9%.
But hot DAYUM if MGR doesn't get soundtracks over Warframe I'ma be pissed.

It is a one sided fight, however the reason homelander couldn't carry the plane, wasn't because of it's weight, it was structure. It would be like carrying a sheet of paper with just two fingers; without the paper bending. As once it bends enough the plane would be broken
It's not that Homelander isn't strong enough to lift planes and trucks, its that he has no leverage when flying + the metal crumpling when its weight is put on one hand sized slots.
Also: Viltrimites aren't weak to sound, just 1, ONE, specific frequency.
It took a while to find it and weaponized in robots.
I saw the plane situation rather differently. It's not that homelander couldn't do anything to help but that doing so would require actual effort. The plane controls being destroyed was also due to Homelander's laziness and disinterest. Also him causing the problem wouldn't have looked good and would have set back the "supes in the military" plan. Overall a pain in the ass when compared to the "senseless loss of life" angle.

The problem when you make matchups by theme is rhat oftentimes you get one sided beatdowns because two characters will share thematic elements while being vastly different in power scaling
Viltrumites aren't sensitive to sound and don't have a fragile equilibrium. They have a weakness to an extremely specific frequency of sound that resonates with their inner ear organs, not just loud noises.
Its rare to see something so lobsided on death battle, but i love to see it like this. I love that Omniman just stood there letting Homelander do whatever he wanted, then with just his two hands ended it with no effort. He didnt even enjoy the fight, because it was not a fight at all. We just watched a murder.

I wholeheartedly think that Homelander wouldn't even actually be able to hit Nolan hard enough to even push him back as much as he has in the animation, from the whole show it really doesn't feel like he'd have the strength or power to even drag him. The only thing I can actually see him getting damaged by is the eye lasers and screeching and even then tis but a scratch. Maybe if he had a running start sure, but at point blank punch to the face I think it'd just be as strong as Mark's from Season 1 but thats it. I haven't read the comics so go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong.

My guess it is probably because early on he mix of wanted to make it hurt to homelander and probably to know what his strengths is and when he got it and also broke his spirit than he killed him (if he really wanted to he could have feed homelander his heart in a blink but he wanted it to hurt)
