I love the way the Doctor was characterized in this. The David Tennant impression was on point, and I loved how they showcased the Doctor's pacifism, like trying to just leave at the start to avoid the fight entirely, using a spoon against Rick's sword, or being reluctant to use the De-Mat gun. I love how inside the TARDIS the Doctor just straight up runs from Rick, because he does that all the time in the show, he just runs and comes back later with a plan. I loved how that "I don't wanna go" scene, which was not only a reference, but also in this context works as a response to Rick's nihilism. I specifically love how he barely even directly attacks Rick during the fight, and instead just outsmarts him using the environment or Rick's own attacks against him.

Yeah it all went so hard. Much like SpongeBob, they had to NOT reveal EVERYTHING with the Doc's stats, if they did, it becomes just unfair just from how much the Doc can actually counter or overwhelm, even surprisingly vaster Cosmology then what was documented here.
I mentioned this before in DB's own vod regarding small clever details, but Doc outsmarting Rick in the Weeping Angel's scene makes so much sense, given Doc is astonishingly persuasive to a Supernatural degree, it has gotten to a point where he can subdue an entire army: Via words alone. Plus when they mentioned the Doc was a Deus Ex Menace, they meant it, homie can get absurdly improbable as it is, leading with Rick losing harder given the amount of convenience for Doc and inconvenience Rick will further have.
Simply put, Rick was Rigged from the start and the Doc can subdue him in many infinite ways currently yes...

This is the same Grasshopper who can initially struggle with Martian's unbound by the concept of violence that Grass has not shown to effect at first... Only to evolve into one shoting said powerful aliens, homie literally also froze beings that are beyond the concepts of violence, that should be impossible... Not for the Grasshopper (this is not the only secretly OP thing he has done)... To the extent he has defeated hordes of them by himself when they had ships (Grassy did not need a ship, he flew and destroyed these by himself), and confirms beating entire invasions of alien's just as, if not more powerful as confirmed in his own animated series...
Keep in mind, this is but the tip *of the dimensional iceberg* that the Chap can do, upon a closer lens, he borders as a Toony Superhero Eldritch hybrid, he has given me an idea to start something with him via all of the information that I have gathered someday. Grassy can also create fictions while already being inside a fiction, insert himself in one's ideas, etc. etc. in fact I just found an even huger break through, that being thanks to Roberto's real life events: Grassy identifies as ALL of the characters Roberto plays, Grassy even took off guard his own creator at one point.

There's moments where he drops the shields for one reason or another, and then the (space) Titanic crashes through the side of the TARDIS. Or when the Daleks capture the TARDIS as part of their multiversal genocide plan, and The Doctor says "right now, those wooden doors... Are just wood." because of the Daleks figuring out how to disable the defenses. Then they drop it into a Z neutrino core or something to dissolve it (but a surprise human hybrid clone of The Doctor saves it at the last moment).
Then there's just times where we see the Daleks painting the TARDIS with extermination lasers and missiles which don't do shit, because the shields were up.
In this battle, they made a weird decision to have the shields *down* so Rick could harpoon onto it, but up so that his ship's weapons did fuck all damage.

One thing I didn’t notice on my first watch was how The Doctor had ACTUALLY hacked the portal gun toward the end of the fight. I thought it just went off on its own. But no, DW simultaneously hacked it and linked the newly created portal to the one on his back while he was disabling Ricks gun. I thought it was really contrived, like why would the portal on his back change from wherever Rick was originally when he popped out, to being linked with the new one?
It’s a cool detail showing how DW was thinking multiple steps ahead of Rick, and PLANNED on him getting his hands on the D-Mat

    • @lordolxinator
      @lordolxinator Рік тому +7

Rick managed to outsmart them purely due to their hubris regarding that raging meteor species that followed them.
They were smarter in a lot of ways, but you could also chalk that up to them having millions of years of prep time to focus on technological advancement. Their understanding of species and civilisations as well as their impact on those they leave behind is inferior to Rick's emotional intelligence (even if Rick almost always chooses to be a jaded asshole, he almost always recognises the impacts he has with his decisions but just doesn't care much of the time).
With a bit of prep time and a lot of cynical oneupmanship he sabotaged the dinosaurs "utopian" vision and managed to outsmart them, forcing them to drop their pacifism to correct an issue they couldn't figure out how to solve (instead of just accepting death).
I'd say the dinosaurs are up there for sure. Rick Prime is still probably the smartest, Rick C137 and Evil Morty are closely behind (then followed by the dinosaurs). Even if Rick isn't smarter than the dinos, Rick Prime likely *is*, allowing for the Central Finite Curve logic to still apply.

Rick prime got shot by Evil Morty when he was clearly shown to have a shield just for that reason...

2: we saw that Rick was going to jump through the portal hinting at him assuming the portal was an exit
3: Having used all options Rick had to hope that the Doctor was stupider then him and wouldn't use the portal on his back and he more then likely was going to just shoot elsewhere with the next shot
These are important because of the Biggest flaw with Rick's Portal Device. Because he likes no one knowing where the portal is going and enjoys the small surprise his Ego over it became what kills him.
If he had just simply made the portals show where they were going to go to from a distance he would have known the portal was linked to the one on the Doctor's back but that Pride came before the fall. His own Ego and Pride Killed him not the doctor.

The Doctor being pleasantly amused by the screaming sun is just so on brand for him I love it. ❤
I never thought too deeply about a Vs match between these two, but I do think you made a valid point with Mr. Frundles!
I'm sure The Doctor might have a counter to something similar, but I can't recall any instances off the top of my head so it's a fair shot especially if Frundles is able to FrundlFy the TARDIS before The Doctor could get inside and travel back to a time before Frundles. Essentially tho if TARDIS is turned to Mr. Frundles, The Doctor (I am 99% sure) should be stuck in that place and time.
To my knowledge and recollection The Doctor doesn't necessarily have full reign over time itself, hence why he needs to go back to TARDIS whenever he wants to travel through time.
He's just able (through his innate being and training) to see facets of time beyond what other beings can, and is able to use the tools at his disposal and that knowledge to accomplish really crazy shit (or to know things others can't possibly know; like the time he knew the Moon was an egg about to hatch a cosmic being and he knew everything would be okay while the entire earth was panicking; and also knowing Fixed Points in time versus what can actually be changed).
So hypothetically if he was able to know of Mr. Frundles or something similar to it ahead of time and had easy access to the TARDIS (or is already within it) he could figure something out; but if he was caught in a situation where he's on a planet and away from the TARDIS he might not have as many options as he otherwise would.
That would be Rick's best bet tbh; like you said just portal gun Mr. Frundles into his universe at a random moment and let it take care of the rest.
I'd be curious if the introduction of Frundles and the start of its takeover would be considered a Fixed Point within time itself; as under normal means how can you go back from that? Rick just abandoned the universe Jerry let Frundles lose in altogether.
To my knowledge Doctor can't traverse universes just time via the TARDIS.
So hypothetically he'd be stuck in his universe traversing the Time before Frundles endlessly until he can find a solution.
On the flip side I'd love to see Rick's way of dealing with things like Weeping Angels and The Silence. As we know Rick is a bit psychologically disturbed and those foes play heavily on psychological horror (Silence especially). It'd be interesting and probably kinda sad to see Rick slowly lose his shit at the Silence after seeing all the tally marks he's made on his hands.. I'd love to see his approach to these kinds of horrors. I don't think he'd find the Dalek to be a huge deal, Weeping Angels I think Rick would handle decently. But to have the Silence eff with Rick's mind, his greatest weapon and source of pride, would likely hit a more personal note. To have him overcome Silence in some way I think would also be a massive boost to Rick's ego.

Rick obviously doesn't have the same love for living his life, nor does he show the same regard for other life unless it's one he personally cares for; he's been depicted trying to unalive himself and has a clear tendency towards self-destruction even at the cost of those around him.
Ironically tho both characters do have a breaking point where they completely flip from their usual virtues.. One breaks their usual optimism and pacifism; whereas the other "lowers himself" from his god-complex to feel human emotion to care for others despite his insistence against caring at all. Where one breaks and resorts to violence after years of pacifism, the other breaks and resorts to truly caring for his loved ones after years of cynicism.

I liked Peter Capaldi but the Moon is a dragon egg and the egg hatches and the dragon goes back to sleep and the moon is restored as good as new. Please!

The 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) is chaos incarnate
Random person: "There is no Doctor that is pure chaos"
    Matt Smith: "Hold my beer"

The Doctor fought a race of aliens similar to Mr. Frondles called the boneless, creatures from a 2D dimension trying to invade our 3D dimension. He won while being stuck inside his ship for most of the episode, which his "Morty" type companion having to play his role.

Also at the end, they were playing off of the stat they read earlier when the Doctor did those calculations while those 5 lazers were in the air already to make a plan to redirect them. I also have not seen Doctor Who, so am really only working with what the episode gave me. Lol Enjoying the content Nux!

Couldn’t help but notice they didn’t reference too much of Jodie Witaker’s doctor in this one which is fair as it’s when doctor who started to go down hill for a while. Writing wasn’t entirely bad, but some people will say it did fall into the trap of becoming woke media and in the end retconned the entire characters lore to make them more memorable to the audience.

or even the glory which is the strongest thing in doctor who. able to literally control the marvel omniverse
