FUN FACT Popeye was SUPER beloved and popular in Japan so much so that Popeye Arcade by Nintendo was designed by Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto. Previously, Nintendo had originally intended to make a video game based on the Popeye characters, but was denied a license, so the mostly original characters of Mario, Donkey Kong, and Pauline were developed for Donkey Kong (1981).

I dunno, the entire fight seemed to completely misrepresent saitama as a whole, taking very little of his story into account, and just plain making fun of him with Popeye. I mean, we saw how Saitama appeared when he felt the joy of battle again in the FIRST EPISODE, and here they just made him seem like a happy-go-lucky idiot gracefully accepting death. If there was one thing I absolutely despise Death Battle for, it's how they misrepresent so many of the losers in favor of propping up the winner.

Yeah Nux is being dumb cuz narrative does not matter in a battle when it’s not inverse, you can’t use narrative to argue someone wins in a cross verse battle literally he Chuck debunked him and he conceded to this deleting his old Saitama video.
Saitama can’t surpass Popeye not cuz of toon force but cuz he’s just not in the same tier of power, he can’t grow stronger fast enough to even reach the level of Popeye before he gets killed, he only surpassed Garou cuz they were close in power meanwhile Popeye is above universal Gods and that’s not even his highest scaling so until Saitama fights and beats his own God who made the universal then he can’t even scratch the balls do Popeye.

    • @LeaderOfTheLostSouls
      @LeaderOfTheLostSouls 2 місяці тому +1

@@robbiewalker2831 Cuz I’m a power scaler, I don’t agree with them all the time but I am fair and understand how they work.
Nux isn’t completely wrong if we put people into another’s verse you could try to argue that the narrative of the verse and character would mark them win tho that’s only true if the author has control imo, narrative should not matter even in a crossverse battle in each other’s verse cuz it is not about narrative it is about scaling and facts we can prove, Saitama can still grow in power and so can Goku without narrative cuz it is an ability they have but then we measure who has better growth and who is stronger and if the weaker one can grow enough to make up for the strength gap which Saitama can’t since it’s a literal dimensional tier difference in power which is beyond infinite so until Saitama gets to universe he can’t even fight base Goku or even do shit to Popeye.
These are the facts and to be fair to Nux he admits his biases, he says if Saitama was in Popeye’s world he would lose and if Popeye was in Saitama’s world then Popeye loses and if they are in a neutral ground then Popeye wins cuz of stats and toon force, the only issues with what he said is him implying the toon force is limited to his verse and makes Popeye unstoppable which ain’t true, and that Saitama could even kill Popeye cuz the narrative of surpassing him tho he has nothing for his toon force and coming back from nothingness, but I’ll cut him some slack.

This video got a strike for using a clip from One Punch Man. So they changed it and removed audio from both clips or popeye and saitama. I also recall that Popeye's Cosmology is decently massive: Remember that Popeye has shrugged off all of his Cosmology shutting down + knocked out the creators that were there... Now I am going by memory here, but the Popeye verse has approximately 7 or 8 Dimensions at most and he survived all of it. Popeye has a shit ton more hax TOO LONG to name here that will STILL put the whole current "Saitama surpasses Popeye" To absolute shame as it is. Pops speed if it wasn't already ludicrous enough, is not Massively Faster Then Light, but is technically Immeasurable just from the fact Pops outfought those already enhanced by Spinach *without being under the effect, in base form basically (the same Spinach that is powerful enough pull a Flash through time already!)* functions fine from the absence of said Cosmology and through it, etc...
Also it's not much, but about the whole *"But he is racist!"* Ordeal, sure what Pops did was terrible... *But it's not really the bigger picture when you think about it:* Bro literally had his own colored uncle ben that taught him responsibility + much like other Toons who did some insensitive stuff today have become much better people regardless, they were born smack dab in the middle of differing times for crying out loud so we gotta cut them slack there (I.E: Bugs and Mickey doing some racist stuff that were considered the norm, but now they have no problem being with these people).

This is part of why I kinda dislike Toon Force as a power-scaling concept. If you try to put someone without it against someone that does, the fight s decided before it ever could've begun depending on how serious it is taken.
Why test anything other than a toon against it if that is the case? Its absurd.
And in the process of using Toon Force as a power scaling concept, you are taking the context of exactly one side of the fight. A Toon can only act as a Toon because of Toon Force. Everything else has some degree of rules. Toon Force basically has none. And only works in the context of a Toon. 'A toon cannot die' or any of the other various things.

Using Toon Force as a Strength Feat at all is frankly cringe. Saitama is a satire character, one that basically has the anime equivalent of Toon Force. In that he always wins all his fights without any real strain on his part. Hitting him with something on par with him just seems to make him stronger, without hurting him in any meaningful way. Saitama is a exponential growth Curve that only grows more exponentially powerful when hit with something that could potentially be considered to pose a threat to him.
Even if you want to claim Toon Force, the only fair conclusion would be that if because Toon Force Popeye is literally unkillable at all for any reason whatsoever, then Saitama would reach that same point and the fight would just be a standstill where nobody could win or loose.

You know, I don't usually watch many UA-camrs that have a stylized, animated model to represent themselves, mainly because you can never really tell what they're facial expressions are like. Even those that have facial tracking are difficult to sort out because the digital translation can easily be programmed to exaggerate or even muffle the YT'ers expressions. So when I say that I like watching Nux, that's saying something. He can make up for a lot of those particular "sins" through exaggerated vocal inflection & the occasional instance of vocal fading as he stands up & walks away from the microphone.
All that being said, when Wiz & Boomstick were getting around to mathematically analyze 'Toon Force, of all things, I could *feel* his frustration & suffering *in spite of* the limitations on his avatar...And I enjoy every second of it! 😁
'Toon Force: As Roger Rabbit ("Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" movie) explained it to Detective Eddie Valiant, a 'toon can do *anything* as long as it's funny. That being said, if you can manage to demoralize a 'toon into losing all of its sense of humor, you win. In Popeye's case it's slightly different...He's not even trying to be funny, as he takes almost every situation with a measure of seriousness. The real difference is Spinach; there has been *nothing* capable of keeping Popeye separated from his spinach long enough to actually win.
Saitama may be easily capable of breaking the Laws of Physics but for Popeye, the Laws of Physics is nothing more than a mildly whispered suggestion.
All in all though, Nux was able to enjoy watching the fight regardless of its outcome...In essence, it means he can enjoy the fiction as the *entertainment* it's meant to be.

If Death Battle took into consideration how a character could grow stronger to match their opponent than literally every “Main Character” ever could never lose in Death Battle and “Main Character vs Main Character” would just be a forever statement of each one just growing stronger to match their opponent. The only way the find a winner is the use “Feats” and their “Abilities”, writing gimmicks or anything that’s not “In Universe” isn’t in consideration for Death Battle, where they take each character at the Most Recent maximum potential

Nux, I want to say why I truly enjoy watching your reactions to these battles. 1: you are animated in your reactions. You give feedback, disagree, defend your point, discuss. It makes enough extra content to be worth watching. 2: You don't always agree with me or with Death Battle (not that I always agree with them either) *but* you still listen to their arguments and recognize where the fight is going. 3: you give credit where credit is due. Even when you hate the outcome or the techniques used in the fight, you show proper appreciation for a job well done in the animation and storytelling. 4: No matter how salty you may get, and no matter how much you might disagree with the outcome, you still appreciate when a feat you didn't know would prove you wrong and (sometimes) admit your stance might be the wrong one by the end. So many butthurt fanboys of *any* of these characters will die on a hill regardless of the data. You might disagree or pull up other feats, but I've also seen you acknowledge when you were wrong too. (Namely Goku v. Superman) I respect that. Please keep it up. I love Death Battle. I love the nonsense power scaling that serves no real purpose in real life. I also very much enjoy your takes on their videos and both your agreements and disagreements with them. Thank you.

And yes, toon force is stupid. It was never *meant* to be taken literally. But you kind of have to if you are going to try to make a "realistic" fight between a toon and anyone else. It results in some stupid calculation and in some ridiculous scaling, but the alternative is to either not use them, or just assume anything a toon does that is unrealistic is just not real and can't be counted. The former is less fun, as it means a whole category cannot be used, and the latter means characters like Popeye more or less get scaled down to tough street brawlers or military men. I prefer the way Death Battle does it, but I understand if you do not.

Cosmic Garou is strong, sure, but Popeye is a whole other league of OP.
That is… until Saitama fights god. We’ll see then just how truly strong Saitama really is.
Unfortunately, the punching in the past Saitama did was very circumstantial. For one, while Saitama did learn how to punch back in time, he eventually forgot how to do that later since his past self caught up with his present, forcibly rewriting his memories of the events that took place against Cosmic Garou.

I have heard a few reasons, some of which I can respect.
For one, there is the matter of 'narrative powers'. Saitama has the narrative power of always winning, because that is rather the point of his satire. This is why I for one felt that putting him in a Death Battle at all was as pointless as doing so for Superman. Popeye's narrative powers are not as focused in that direction. This is a very iffy point though, and not where my reservations lie.
The more relevant point is that just saying 'easy win because one show takes more creative liberties in displaying the power' is boring and a bad explanation, which is a complaint that can be levelled at a few Death Battles, and one I think the creators are very aware of - they point it out themselves in the Mask vs Deadpool one, that just grabbing something that uses more cartoony visual metaphors to beat something that only has more 'conventional' backing is pointless from the start. It ties into the argument over whether you can really have a Death Battle without convincing stakes - no-one wants to see Woody from Toy Story fight Quick Draw McGraw, since the former is a tiny felt toy intended to struggle and overcome insane odds, and the latter is a fun little immortal cartoon sheriff-horse. If you establish one side as utterly insurmountable simply because of the show's creative medium, then you should not make it a Death Battle in the first place, as that just turns into bashing the non-toon character for no reason - once again, as they admit in the Deadpool versus Mask video, quoted below:
Boomstick: "Wiz, stop. None of that matters. This is stupid. We pit Deadpool against a cartoon god. Like you said, the Mask could just say "no" to damage. Deadpool couldn't even really hurt him! This whole thing was a blowout, a... total stomp."

IF you beleive that Toon Force is a legitimate power-scaling thing to consider, then you have to accept that you are taking the nature of the medium it was created in, into account.
If you take literally a medium that was never meant to be, then you have to give that same respect to whatever you're putting it up against.
You cannot separate Toon Force from the medium that it was used within. It'd be like dropping a character that has some innate magic in a medieval world where magic doesn't exist. If you take the context f the magician having magic given their story, but ignore the fact there *is* no magic in the other? That's not really a genuine comparison.
