It's like that quote from Doctor Who: "good men dont need rules, now is not the time to find out why i have so many." Joshua Graham is trying to live his life righteously but deep down he is not a good man.
There's something so beautiful in forgiveness Joshua got from his tribe. He've done so much evil, caused so much pain and yet at the moment of his desperation people who had so many reasons for revange forgave him and loved him as if he never left. No jokes it made me tear up...
Something he doesn’t mention is that if you point a gun at him, while he’s checking the pistols, he says “make the first shot count, you won’t get a second.“
Joshua is, absolutely, one of my top favorite characters of all time. I can even say he helped reignite my own faith that had dimmed over time years ago. Nux if you liked Joshua Graham you should look into videos on Randall Clark, he's another character created for the Honest Hearts DLC and is genuinely considered one of the peak Fallout characters along with Joshua, and both were from the same DLC.
Randall Clark is easily one of the most interesting and sympathetic characters in the entirety of Fallout lore. Which is extremely impressive for a character you never even meet.
There's a couple different translations for Joshua's line, "Kale watcha nei conserva oh". One possible translation is: "God as my witness, none of you will be spared." However, another UA-camr, who simply goes by "Synonymous", looked into translations from German, Spanish, and Navajo words (due to the fact that the fictional tribes depicted in Honest Hearts speak a mixture of those languages). And the translation he eventually came up with, was: "What are you to Caesar? You may push against us and pick us off, but we will survive." In this case, "Kale" would be the White Legs' word for "Caesar" (Due to the fact that the members of the Legion _always_ pronounce Caesar's name with a hard "C"). A commenter on Synonymous' video believed that Joshua was actually speaking "Twisted Hair", the tribe Ulysses once belonged to (before he also joined Caesar). Apparently, Ulysses convinced the White Legs that Caesar is a God in human form, so Joshua's line here would literally translate as, "God watches, not conserving you." Or, in other words: _"Your God has abandoned you."_ As for an official translation, Joshua Sawyer (The creative director of New Vegas) made a point of not giving an official translation, because he wanted the line to be mysterious. He also clarified that it *DOES* translate into _something;_ it's not just gibberish. I do like all three of these fan translations, but the last two are my favorites. As another commenter on Synonymous' video put it: "Asking Salt-Upon-Wounds what he is to Caesar would be the most raw line, if that's what it translated to." Edit: Fixed a typo in "Caesar".
My lord I love Joshua, one of the most perfectly written characters in all of fallout and is both very endearing and very terrifying at the same time with his story being amazing. If you really enjoyed the writing of Joshua Graham, I highly recommend checking out the story of Randall Clark (Or in other terms: Father in the Caves/The Survivalist) Joshua Graham is peak writing, but out of everything in the DLC of Honest Hearts, Randall Clarks story takes the cake by a long shot. It is also, in my opinion, the best writing in the entirety of Fallout NV or even all of the Fallout series. Highly recommend it. Especially if you like lore.
So many good characters to look into. Christine, Father Elijah, Ulysses and the mad scientist or the Big Mt. All those are from DLC. Even Dean can be added here. Just such a well written game. But the best of all characters is the one that haunted that valley right after the bombs dropped. He's probably the best character in this game and he died long ago.
"Dude "fell" into fire 🔥 and found God," is a great defining characteristic, not his gender not his skin color or who he slepts with. A redemption arc that started with fire 🔥. That's epic writing ✍️.
Id like to see Nux react to Joshua's successor Lanius, the current Legate of Caesar's legion. To call Lanius a savage man would be underselling it; he really has earned his name "The Butcher" in Latin. He is also the "Monster of the East" having earned the name from his conquering of 19 tribes. Its not all I'd like him to see as there is much more information to be derived from the game but there was a pretty cool FNV fan film made of him that ACTUALLY got Mitch Lewis himself on board to dub over actor Johnny Domino. Mitch being the iconic voice of Lanius, and Johnny Domino playing him. physically.
Someone tell him to react to Ulysses next. The best video I've found that really breaks down his mentality and beliefs is a video titled the Politics of Ulysses. Extremely under rated character that people like to make fun of but is actually an extremely deep and thought provoking character.
40:00 - i have only once ever chosen to side with Daniel, just to see how it ends. ultimately he wants to save the Sorrows, but in the end he is condemning them, for Zion is their home, an Oasis in a great desert, one that will be destroyed by the White Legs, if left to their own devices.
THE BURNED MAN HIMSELF. Do one for Caesar or House next, maybe even watch the "Caesar explains himself" video, or a video explaining the Legion, or even explaining Legate Lanius.
i will say, Joshua has convinced me to keep some parts of my faith. i grew up mormon and i left because its honest just a cult, any exmormon knows that. but the quote by joshua "I believe there is something beyond this rock, and this air, and this water around us. New Vegas only crashed on PS3, because the console architecture was crap. The PS3 version of Skyrim also crashed constantly. Anything with running water crashed on the PS3 for some reason. The 360 and PC version worked fine.
Since he was vibing to the music, and since its one of the greatest stories and pieces of character work of all time, I think Nux should react to RDR 2 and 1 overall lore and individual character storyline breakdowns
I appreciate the genuine and honest vibes you put into these videos, I know the whole "super loud and crazy" persona can get tiring, so its cool to see.
'In the warp a giant stirred; an image flickered through a mind larger than a nebula. The sleep of Gork was troubled. In his dreams he wore a metal body and led his children to victory. The dream lasted a brief instant of long eternity, something about it caused Gork to smile but not to rouse. In the warp Mork too was disturbed. He dreamed of war spreading like a green stain across the galaxy. He saw billions of his children following giant warmachines built in his crude image on a great crusade. He found the dream good. And slowly his vast mind moved towards wakefulness. Gork and Mork stirred. Their dreams reached out and touched the dreams of their people. A billion Orks turned in their sleep; suddenly, inexplicably infected by scenes of slaughter and reaving, plunder and the taking of worlds. When they awoke they looked on their surroundings and found them dull. Gork struggled towards awareness. After centuries of dormancy it was a long process. He sensed other Powers in the warp trying to interfere. He blocked a subtle tendril from Slaanesh, ignored a baleful warning from the Emperor, discounted the triumphant cry of Khorne. He reached out with his millennia-old mind and gathered the strength of his people. Soon he would be awake and active. A body of steel had been prepared for him. A time of blood and iron was approaching. As Mork gathered strength many a Warboss found himself afflicted with thoughts of power. Ancient ambitions were re-kindled. Long vanished thoughts of conquest stirred in the recesses of slow minds. They planned raids on nearby Humans and toyed with thoughts of alliances with old rivals. Not even great soul-searching could explain why this was so. The Ancient Powers knew what was happening, though. The Waa-Ork was coming. Gork and Mork stirred and a wave of fear passed through the warp. Suicide and incidence of violent crime climbed steeply. On Icolbar an Astropath screamed and threw himself from the balcony of a starscraper apartment, yelling that his people were doomed. On the craft-world Hope of Other Days, an Eldar philosopher stopped listening to the atonal music of his water-chimes and began composing his death-haiku, feeling his life had been justified. On distant Earth, a living corpse in a golden throne opened eyes that held fear for the first time in centuries. Gork felt his attention being tugged towards one tiny world on the edge of Orkdom. A strange attraction drew him to it. He leaned down from warpspace and looked upon it. His breath brought storms in the Ash Desert. His gaze caused machines to break down. His lightest tread brought earthquakes. Seeing the disruption he was causing among his people he withdrew. He knew the time was not yet right for his return. He withdrew but he left a message. Mork moved on the face of the warp, brushing aside Daemons and ignoring ancient barriers set by long dead Gods. He moved from world to world and placed in the heart of every Ork the desire to be restless, to move, to follow the siren call of adventure when it came. He sensed other Powers subtly striving to oppose him and laughed as their attempts to restrain his crude, irresistible purpose. The Emperor knew that he must save his people. If Gork and Mork unleashed their hordes then any unprepared worlds would be swept aside by a green tide of death The Emperor bent his thoughts to the task. Across Human space, within the range of the Astronomicon, Imperial Tarot began to foretell disaster. Commanders consulting them found all the signs of impending catastrophe on a cosmic scale. In the Segmentum Obscura, Battlefleets were recalled and prepared for war. On the homeworlds of the Adeptus Astartes, Space Marines reached for their weapons, knowing their time of destiny was near. On the edges of the Eye Of Terror, the Orders of the Adeptus Titanicus roused their ancient war-machines. Having surveyed his Empire and seen it was ready the dying immortal within the Golden Throne prepared himself for the conflict to come. Gork and Mork knew that they were ready. Their people were agitated and prepared for battle The Emperor, their chosen enemy, had deployed his forces. The first skirmishes had been fought, now war was about to be joined. Beyond them they sensed the Chaos Powers watching, waiting to see what advantage the God-brothers' actions might bring them. In the darkest pits of creation twisted creatures prepared to follow the Orks' advance. Gork and Mork did not care. They knew they were strong enough to resist Chaos. The time was right. The time was now. It was time for Gork and Mork to have some fun. In the Warp Gork and Mork waited, well pleased. Across the face of a million worlds their children were on the move, a green tide that would topple empires and re-shape the Universe. The Waa-Ork was on the move.' I will post this on all of your videos until you watch Baldemort's: The Secret History of the Orks.

He wasn't threatening you, he was making sure each gun was clean and operable for his men
Conversation doesn't postpone responsibility, and we can't expect God to do all the work
Someone make him read Randall Clark's diary already. The most moving piece of fallout lore.
Man i love joshua graham, i'm not religious and i dont even play fallouts but i still quote some of his lines to this day.
i mean, who cant relate to the: ~"Some days... some days are harder, than the others. but it is great comfort to have friends and family to lean on" ?
Mormons do not consider Utah as Jerusalem. We simply migrated there because we where being hunted in every other state. Utah was Nuteral territory at the time.
It's true. We ended up in Utah 'cause no one else wanted to be here, haha! Well, at least we made it "the place," right?
Was written by Chris Avellone, same guy who wrote Darth Kreia in KOTOR2
Ah, grandma. Shes both got good points and bad. But someone who i love to see get into debates with Jolee, yoda and palpatine if they arent killing one another
"A thief wants to steal your stuff. A liar wants to steal your reality"
As a utahn, go to Zion. Its ealily one of the best parks in america, pick a year following a good snowfall, you wont be disappointed. Id recomend a full week or at least 3 or 4 days.
If you watched Joshua, now you need to watch about Randall Clark his story is iconic even thought he never shows up in wild hearts DLC, hus story also points out Joshua's idea about fighting the white legs is the right one
Because Joshua Graham has something the church lacks today:
Actual principles
He also doesn't rant and rave at you for being different from his beliefs and accepts you as you are.
I used to live in Zion national park, on smith mesa road, its a beautiful place. I was actually living there the first time I played this dlc
There’s videos of a Joshua ghraham AI for reading the Bible, at least the first book genesis, and it was actually so fitting it amazed me.
"When fortune smiles on something as violent and ugly as revenge, it seems proof like no other, that not only does God exist, you're doing His will.”
-Kill Bill
@@OrkOfOhio it’s funny. I’ve watched all the kill bill movies, and I don’t remember that line, but I do remember it from the final episode of hellsing ultimate abridged.
@@B1RDSEYEit was ep 9 wasn't it?
@@darcys842 well now you’re making me uncertain. 😅 it was either 9 or 10. Whichever episode where alexander Andersons German girl killed Walter.
@@B1RDSEYE now you make me remember, yeah that was ep 10, cause Walter was still alive at the end of ep9
9:55 "Wrapped in baggage's" I know it was just a slight slip but my mind ran with it and I just pictured a dude mushed in-between bags stuck on the Baggage carousel but still checking his guns while preaching for the Lord.
... Man took "Baggage Checking" seriously, as The Lord intended. >)X^D
You should totally check out the story of Randall Clark aka The Survivalist, another AMAZING story from Fallout New Vegas. Same DLC as Dead Money.
"Make no mistake about why we are here. This is an extermination." Hits so much harder when you realize the White Legs probably have kids around too, plus the track record of Joshua... Yeah.
I may wrong about this (not good at biblical studies) but Joshua's bible quotes basically show his intention to exterminate the tribe to last blood
And the white legs are there to kill the Sorrows and Dead Horses kids. Evil exists, it cannot be negotiated with.
@@hafirenggayudato be fair the white legs brought it on themselves. At every opportunity they chose violence and would have gladly killed you and the other tribes.
@@hafirenggayuda Yep that's exactly it, his bible passage about razing the city to the ground is the Old Testament in action with "an eye for an eye".
It's a revenge ordained by God's will, there's no intended survivors or prisoners...just like what the White Legs did to his family. Can't really say I blame him, but also glad he's a piece of fiction.
If your looking for good sith lords to look into i would recommend
-darth bane
-darth krayt
-darth nihilus
-darth scion
-darth traya
-darth talon😏
-darth malgus
-tulak hord

so valid with nihilus
Pretty sure he knows of malgus from the old republic trailers since they show his backstory.
Which was the one that didn't do no evil again?
@@DonPetexXvectivus?
@DonPetexX Vectivus, but he did commit evil, just far less than most. His evil was being a ruthless capitalist and using the Sith teachings to make bank. So pretty cool dude
joshua's introduction has the same energy as tywin lannister lecturing jaime while skinning a deer.
His custom 45 is pretty cool too. It's called 'A Light Shining in Darkness'. After the biblical passage which is also engraved on the frame of the pistol. καὶ τὸ φῶς ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ φαίνει / καὶ ἡ σκοτία αὐτὸ οὐ κατέλαβεν (And the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not).
Which is also a little bit cheeky seeing it perfectly describes a gun firing at you which of course will be a big surprise.
Joshua is an SCP. Religious John Wick.
I even have this one UA-cam video, made by combining several of Joshua's lines, into one coherent speech, and I just listen to it whenever I'm feeling down. He really is just the best
14:58 Lying is ultimately a cruel waste of time, because the truth is ALWAYS revealed, even if it takes the afterlife to do so. Even in life, there are very few secrets that can be kept indefinitely, very few truths ever fully suppressed.
oh yeah good ol joshua graham! the coolest mormon
Second coolest- look up Orrin Porter Rockwell. He’s like a mix of Joshua Graham and an old west gunslinger, but was a real person during the Wild West
@@CesarTheKingVA some of the real world mormons did some sketchy stuff, i remember there was a group of 140 pioneers that were murdered under a flag of peace in 1857
@@methuselahh_ True, but you can say that of nearly every group that has existed ever.

Randall Clark, NUX HAS TO DO A WATCH OF THAT LEGENDARY MAN!
TRUE
YES.
My favorite legend in New Vegas.
I can safely say that he made me religious, especially Mormon.
When it's 4 in the morning, you haven't slept for two days and you listen to Joshua's words, I felt at peace.
He's The Burned Man. How could he not spit flames?
his most famous quote should still be "I don't enjoy killing, but [...]"
When done righteously it’s just a chore like any other. Practiced hands make for short work, and the Good Lord knows there is much to be done
One possible translation is:
"God as my witness, none of you will be spared."
However, another UA-camr, who simply goes by "Synonymous", looked into translations from German, Spanish, and Navajo words (due to the fact that the fictional tribes depicted in Honest Hearts speak a mixture of those languages). And the translation he eventually came up with, was:
"What are you to Caesar? You may push against us and pick us off, but we will survive."
In this case, "Kale" would be the White Legs' word for "Caesar" (Due to the fact that the members of the Legion _always_ pronounce Caesar's name with a hard "C").
A commenter on Synonymous' video believed that Joshua was actually speaking "Twisted Hair", the tribe Ulysses once belonged to (before he also joined Caesar). Apparently, Ulysses convinced the White Legs that Caesar is a God in human form, so Joshua's line here would literally translate as, "God watches, not conserving you." Or, in other words:
_"Your God has abandoned you."_
As for an official translation, Joshua Sawyer (The creative director of New Vegas) made a point of not giving an official translation, because he wanted the line to be mysterious. He also clarified that it *DOES* translate into _something;_ it's not just gibberish. I do like all three of these fan translations, but the last two are my favorites. As another commenter on Synonymous' video put it:
"Asking Salt-Upon-Wounds what he is to Caesar would be the most raw line, if that's what it translated to."
Edit: Fixed a typo in "Caesar".
My lord I love Joshua, one of the most perfectly written characters in all of fallout and is both very endearing and very terrifying at the same time with his story being amazing. I highly recommend doing some other deep dives into the seara Madre casino dlc and the Big empty one as well, without giving too much away about both the first focus on the past while the second is about science and gives some very interesting lore. I don't know about lonesome roads since I heard some people hate it but that might be interesting too check out to.
@22:18 don't forget, South park had an episode where heaven was fighting hell and one of the angels said "well normally we only let Mormon people into heaven." 😂😂😂😂
Not to mention how there’s multiple episodes showing people arrive in hell, asking about religion, finding out Mormons were correct and one time a dude legit says “how could you expect us to love our neighbors” after asking why he, a “good Christian” was in hell
You should definitely react to "Over-Powered Tech of Fallout" by RadKing. The video will really spill it out at how some tech is just straight up OP AF to black magic levels of unseen fuckery.
Aye yooo your actually doing it!! I asked for this and he's doing it!!! NUX DA GOAT
I always take the war club because it's unique compared to the others, it has character, and because it's damn powerful as a melee weapon.
My dad gave me a 1911 45 pistol when i graduated highschool. Best gift ive ever been given

They're pretty interesting and worth a watch.
If you really enjoyed the writing of Joshua Graham, I highly recommend checking out the story of Randall Clark (Or in other terms: Father in the Caves/The Survivalist)
Joshua Graham is peak writing, but out of everything in the DLC of Honest Hearts, Randall Clarks story takes the cake by a long shot. It is also, in my opinion, the best writing in the entirety of Fallout NV or even all of the Fallout series.
Highly recommend it. Especially if you like lore.
You need to react to the DUST lore. It’s a mod that shows what happens after the worst possible ending in new Vegas. Truly tragic
Now do, “this npc gave people trauma” made by the same guy, pretty fire!
Im convinced this is the emperor incognito
One of his many personas over the centuries 🗿
40:00 - i have only once ever chosen to side with Daniel, just to see how it ends. ultimately he wants to save the Sorrows, but in the end he is condemning them, for Zion is their home, an Oasis in a great desert, one that will be destroyed by the White Legs, if left to their own devices.
The only NPC to have the Terrifying Presence perk.
Something more that is waiting for us." really stuck with me.
Wait till you hear about the survivalist Randall Clarke, a character so badass that people think he's god and you never meet him alive but his story leaves an impact. Also in this dlc
*courier (player character) points gun at him*
Joshua Graham: Make the first shot count, you won't get a second...
I don't think I've ever experienced New Vegas crash without mods
New Vegas only crashed on PS3, because the console architecture was crap. The PS3 version of Skyrim also crashed constantly. Anything with running water crashed on the PS3 for some reason.
The 360 and PC version worked fine.
Nux reacting to Joshua Graham?! Wtf?! I never thought these two sides of my UA-cam would meet
Since he was vibing to the music, and since its one of the greatest stories and pieces of character work of all time, I think Nux should react to RDR 2 and 1 overall lore and individual character storyline breakdowns
I have been waiting for this. A deep dive on Mr. House would be really cool too.
You should check the world of darkness setting specially vampire the masquerade
You know what the perfect intro to that setting would be? The plot of Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption.

You ought to react to Ulysses. Another DLC character. He's like a second main character in New Vegas.
Sneering Imperialist perk is god like on this play through.
It's hard to imagine New Vegas writer was basically blacklisted from the industry.
Nux do the survivalist. He is part of this dlc
I hope he watches a video on Ulysses
You MUST do Ulysses next. I'm sure he'll be a contender for best character
I appreciate the genuine and honest vibes you put into these videos, I know the whole "super loud and crazy" persona can get tiring, so its cool to see.

The video Leon Talks A Lot that's about Cry of Fear is incredible as well.
25:20 the background music is from red dead redemption 2
The Waa-Ork was on the move.'
I will post this on all of your videos until you watch Baldemort's: The Secret History of the Orks.
