If and when Vinted pro comes along giving no fees to business sellers, eBay will have to stop charging on there too. You would think they would want to be one step ahead of the game.
Remember when we had to pay to send text messages and make calls? Now it’s the norm to have free texts and calls in a package. That’s exactly where these platforms need to go and probably will in the near future.
It's certainly been a very interesting week on the boards and youtube! I can understand the reasoning behind ebay's decision but maybe if they had just asked the people on the ground they would understand better. They have upset a lot of business sellers who are worried about the effect this will have on their business ( very short-sighted if Vinted Pro is on the way) and I doubt many will come over from Vinted as it so much more easy to list on there. I am a private seller and use both. As people want something for nothing on Vinted my cheap stuff goes on there, better stuff on ebay and this decision will not change that. It just means for the stuff I would normally sell on the bay I will get more in my pocket.
I sell some clothing and I do wish eBay would learn from the Vinted app. It’s so much better designed. Agree with pretty much all you have said. I don’t think Vinted will be losing much sleep about this move
I agree with Simon - Vinted is sooo much easier to list on than ebay - the only way people would move to selling on ebay would be if they knew that they could sell more items
The most sensible assessment I’ve seen of this situation yet. A majority of my inventory is clothing, but seriously, I’m not losing any sleep over this. What do business sellers expect? That they will also get free fees? And then won’t all other pre-loved sellers (of anything) quite rightly say ‘what about us?’ The thing is, I just sort of think that we all have a choice. If you don’t agree with Ebay, then don’t be on their platform. But we all know there are not really many alternatives! However…..the thing I would like is to give us more listing allowances. The middle tier USA shop is 10,000 listings. As a volume seller, 1500 is really not much to me.
Excellently put. That’s the one thing so many don’t seem to grasp. This is not a democracy, we have the option to use their website or find another, or do something different. The entitlement is unreal.
Very concise video giving out correct information. I get a bit annoyed about personal sellers having more incentives than business sellers. I don't sell clothing on ebay I have just sold a few of my own clothing pieces on Vinted and it is easier. I understand that shoes, bag, hats, belts and other accessories are not in the new clothing offer for private sellers.
Yes. I suppose that eBays perception is that private sellers will tend to pride lower, or run auctions, which is valuable to eBay in keeping it a very competitive marketplace price-wise, and keeping the buyers coming in.
I typically list and sell around 5 items per day, 6th & 7th April I sold 1 item per day, then back up to 5 on the 8th 😅 I feel like I’ve made a few positive changes to my store this week so hopefully a good weekend 🤞🏻
What I’ve read it’s just clothes, shoes handbags belts etc not included. Just about to list all my old business ties so will need to ask eBay what happens with those. Not bothered will still check and possibly list on Vinted and eBay. Looking for broadest audience to try and move on quickly

I can't see anyone new who isn't selling clothes theirs obviously would chose ebay over vinted. Vinted so quick n easy will win fees or no fees

Yep, and people won’t know that they can if they haven’t tried… also they might need more patience for those higher prices

Ebay class ties as accessories so are outside of the ‘free clothing sales’ rule.
