I discovered quite by accident when I first got a basic shop subscription that eBay lets you have a shop front without being a business seller. I assumed they would automatically make me complete all the business and returns policies as a matter of course, but they didn’t, I had to contact them to work out why I was still showing as a private seller. Most odd! Nick Hills said recently that as long as your listings allowed returns and you put your address on each listing, he couldn’t see why you shouldn’t keep a private account to sell as a business. Although he was just speculating I think. It’s all very confusing!
I think it would get removed because you can't put personal details in the description, why would you pay an extra £20 a month to get a storefront? as far as i know theres not much benefit atall? it mentions on the upgrade page about lower fees if you upgrade but i've heard that's not actually true?
Exactly, we said that a few vids back too. Ppl very quick to accuse ppl of breaking the law just by operating a personal account, it’s absolute twaddle. But I guess that’s representative of the internet I guess! 🤣🤣
You can put personal details in the description, we have it in all of our collection only items (on a personal account).
Having the Shop allows sales/markdowns and other benefits such as newsletter marketing etc. Not worth it in our opinion, but the option is there.
Its not different selling business items on a personal account to selling business items on vinted
I've had that "what's your best price?" or an offer, then buying for full price anyway. Happened so many times. Seems they're just desperate to get a discount at any cost or want to feel they've got one up on you.

Yes, you don’t need to be a business to do that though.
I'm a private seller and can't do this either. Can you do a video on how this is done? I've looked everywhere and can't find it. 😕
@@purplevamp666 you have to pay £20 a month to upgrade to a shop as i said but there no other benefits so it's not worth it
@@nafanify Definitely not worth it. They way they were talking it made it seem that you didn't need to do this.
Was it more cost effective to hire a van to drop off at the tip as opposed to getting some one to pick your rubbish up ?
No because we needed a van to move the stuff that wasn’t going to the tip 👍
I've been a personal seller dipping my toes into the world of reselling clothes, just to see how it goes and if I think i could pay the bills doing it. I was contemplating paying for an eBay store. But now I don't see the point. All i would get is a storefront, a top rated seller logo, and much higher fees.

I'm currently on a business account, but considering setting up a personal and switching all my listings to there, as I sell predominantly clothing. Just worried eBay will notice and shut me down!
Switching to a personal account would also mean you would not comply with Distance Selling Regulations.
They’ll just force a switch to business I think, I don’t think they will shut you down 🤷♂️
Unless you display your address on your listings, and offer returns.

You can offer 50% refunds on a personal account as long as you offer free returns and above standard xx
Hi, I just checked this with eBay because we wouldn’t want to put out any incorrect info:
“Hi there, thanks for reaching out to us here today, I'm afraid that is incorrect information, a 50% refund may be used in some cases but only if your account is Top Rated, this option is not available for above standard ~Shane”.
I have done it on my personal account on multiple occasions where a buyer has tried to scam me so you definitely can. I did pay a shop fee so unless it was part of that. I have only just transferred to a business.
Via an actual return, or just a straight up refund? Not sure when it changed but that seller protection doesn’t cover above average
I’ve only ever used it when an item has been returned and it’s in a different condition from what I’d sent or the item isn’t the same item. So unless it’s changed since I don’t know xx love all your videos btw you are both extremely helpful one of the reasons I turned my eBay into a business xx
