Im assuming you have told amazon about this? Because if these companies are ripping people off, amazon has a duty of care to ban them from the platform.

I'm the same with things I know are worth something I've had three very fine needle point pictures I've been sat on for nearly a year now, I'm scared to upload them I know their quality and I want them to get what they deserve. I think the box you showed is from India, I picked up similar when I was there. I think they come from the same place as the taj mahal. That may be why it was cheaper as may be modern, great vid thanks for sharing your research

Great find Faye, probably a souvenir from when people used to do the grand tour of Europe. Still can find them in specialised shops in Florence and probably other places, very expensive of course😊

The solution is easy. STOP BUYING FROM THE 2nd BIGGEST DATA THIEF IN THE WORLD. Amazon cheat all the time. I buy from eBay, but there are eBay sellers who use Amazon deliveries. I have had two deliveries this week carried by Amazon. Neither time did anyone knock on the door, press the video camera doorbell, or use the intercom. And when I went to check if the deliveries had been made, I found, on the first one, a stranger picking up my parcel. I advised him that he was recorded on 4 cameras, and, if he doesn't put it down, and "GO AWAY", I will press my panic button, and he would have 3 minutes to get away. He went. The second delivery, the same, no knock, press or talk, just dumped on the step in full view of the road. As I opened the door to check, there it was, and another stranger just starting to walk up the path. They turned and went away FAST. Is this a scam where the delivery drivers give their delivery addresses to a mate, who then steal the parcels? I don't get the same problem with legitimate delivery companies.

We couldn't believe what this was worth!

I’ve always said it’s so unethical that eBay even let it be possible to promote at 100%. I’ve never used off site ads but when I used to use the bulk promotion tool - I was promoting once at 2.7% but about 5 items were promoted at 72% 🤮 two of them sold and eBay did refund those fees for me but I was saying it was their fault because how could only 5 be on the wrong %. It’s really bad form on eBay’s part not to refund you those other fees.

No-one could say you're not a successful seller - in the narrowest sense ! Due to that. We've all made mistakes, like underquoting P&P most commonly 😞 Or finding a flurry of orders with insufficient time or packaging material to get them off.

Seems mad they have the 100% setting but maybe they left it to catch people out or it was just easier to program that way. You’re lucky you got one refunded mate. Live and learn I guess.

Aint 2% the minimum

You are fortunate that you get your stuff cheap but sadly not everyone does. If someone is paying say 30 or even as much as 40% cost of goods within their category then promoted listings along with postage could make selling pointless. I think if you promote at say 10% then talking about 27.5% selling fees there or there abouts with the VAT so really need to be paying 10% or less COG. The most frustrating thing about Ebay is that you can be cheaper but they hide your listings. You end up in a situation where you'd be happy to sell cheaper to the buyer but they cant find the item but because someone else is promoting at double digits they might be say £10 more in total and get the sale. This means that Ebay is simply becoming more expensive for folk to shop on. The other seller who has promoted high might potentially only make the same bottom line as you'd have made with your lower price with the additional sum going to the corrupt Ebay. The high cost of selling fools some into believing they are making a lot more than they are as they get blinded by turnover. Some with high COG and high promotion might only be making 30% or as low as 20% of each sale which is a joke. Promoted listings is a scam that was touted as an optional 'selling tool'. The problem now is that it is so ingrained ( think Stockholm Syndrome ) that something which was once optional is now effectively compulsory with the illusion of free will. A lot of us know that promoted pay to play is corrupt but we have no choice but to use it but rather like like paying a school bully than as a true choice. I think that a lot of us who have been selling a decade or more are more angered by it while younger Gen Z sellers are Ebay's preferred prey because unlike us they likely don't remember Ebay prior to pay to play extortion. This along with kamikaze free returns are causing misery for sellers and making selling easily twice as expensive than a decade ago. Years ago talking perhaps 15% selling fees but for some it's nudging 30% with the VAT meaning enormous volume is needed to counteract this.

I would have just cancelled all of the orders

EBay went inside a trading with a group of criminals in Australia. One of them is called Morrison and the other is called a Turnbull. This group who simply overrode any law so they could literally steal from the public with gusto. We call this in Australia the real killers and murderers of our Australian community. They are worthless and as for the government we have at the moment they’re in a world of their own their agenda nothing for the grandkids every day. Regards Al from down under.

Nightmare ! I am fortunate that I sell in a fairly niche category that only a few others do, so using Promoted Listings isnt really necessary for me. It is, IMHO, just a way for ebay to get more money. If, as rumours (!) persist, they do some changes on fees and the like in 2025, it will be intriguing what else they do to retain & increase their own income and profits. Those big shareholders wont want to have their own income decreased.

OMG that's terrible. It would have been easy for eBay to display a limit, warning or estimate, after entering a percentage but they chose not to implement that. I wonder why....

It also highlights that people want to buy your items at your prices, if only they get shown them by eBay.

Sales are slightly lower than last year but am probably not listing as much. I had a £100 voucher from ebay to use on Promoted offsite campaign and so far have had £691.15 in sales with fees of £58.86 from the voucher with a cap on the spend of £5 per day. I will end the campaign when voucher is used up.

Why would they even offer it.? I have heard of this before. Terrible for you.
