- FDNY Engine Company 3, Tower Ladder 12 (spare), Battalion 7 and Squad 18 respond to a call at the corner of 7th Avenue and 14th Street. Engine 3, Tower Ladder 12 and Battalion 7 are all housed together on W. 19th Street. Notice the forward-facing blue light on Squad 18!

PA300 siren is the best. Love the Battallion car with it!

Absolutely love the wind-up and wind-down on the Ford Excursion Batallion's siren. If there's any PA300 model I'd like to get my hands on, it would definitely be from an FDNY Excursion.

I love how Tower Ladder 12 shot out of that road! Also I'd forgotten how the old Squad 18 looked, what with the blue light and all.
I know these two companies personally and used to live 5 blocks away from them and take it from me, especially from L-12, E-3, & B-7, their sirens are louder than the rest of the fire department! It drove me and my mom nuts! But I liked the fact that if I needed them, they'd be at my doorstep in like a second.

Squad Companies are part of FDNY's Special Operations Command (SOC), there are only 7 Squad companies for the entire 5 boroughs of NYC. Other SOC units include Rescue (which there are only 5, one for each borough), Haz Mat and Marine.
Squad carry more specialized equipment than the regular companies and are usually trained in HazMat, most have scuba equipment and as far as I know radioactive & biological testing equipment. They have Yellow Head Pieces and Yellow Numbers on Rigs.

Is Battalion 7 using a spare? There's no number on the side.
Blue lights. FDNY Squad 18 has a single forward-facing BLUE rotator. It is not green. I have seen it up close and personal and I can tell you it is blue so before we start talking about Chicago and green lights read the description above. It's a blue light.
Love those old FDNY towers. They're real beasts. They just rock.
@Char1zard93 No it's a blue, the city's emergency services just got the allowance to put one blue light on the front of any FDNY or NYPD vehicle. Wierd on the front for the fire dept., but FDNY is also now putting blues on the rears.

@eveningniteshade no it's blue, there are vids where you can see that better
If the shop on spare 12 is ST9704, it's definitely old 21. And the really high pitch comes from slamming the manual siren, unless you meant E3, in which that's just the way it is.

Ive never understood why they dont just make the siren on the rigs a regular, hi-lo siren you hear on all the other emergency vehicles. You'd figure with all the traffic they have theyd do that instead of making the siren to where you have to turn it on and off constantly.

Whats the difference between an Engine and a Squad?
Engine can pump and draft water. Squad can only Draft water and hold more tools than an engine. I really don't know much I am not career am volenter.
