Recommended. Going for fire 1 & 2 in the next couple of months. I’ve been watching a lot of FD videos trying to get tips, and observe how the pros operate.
So was the situation one where the fire station covers 1 complete block width, such that in order to get the 2nd truck out, they took the big rig out from a garage door on the next block over and then drove around the block to the 2nd door, to retrieve the squad unit from that entrance?
Need bigger stations and I hate to see these beautiful old ones go but times have changed and this requires bigger stations for the apparatus. I give these men and women credit because as a firefighter for the last 19 years I know how stressful it can be backing into the firehouse especially with idiot drivers who refuse to stop while doing so.
In NYC with the building s so close to each other there’s no room for expansion and the city isn’t knocking down a 12 story apartment building just to expand a firehouse
FDNY chiefs have a rivalry war between Whelen and Federal Signal light-bars. They can't make up their minds on which ones to use. Newer trucks are back to using Whelen.
I found it by accident. I watch a lot of Emergency (TV series from the 70's.) I guess with me signed in to UA-cam it puts recommended fire rescue videos on for me to watch. Firemen (and ladies) are awesome. Great video!
This is rare, I've seen squad 18 and other units respond with their 2nd piece plenty of time, but I have not seen a unit actually return to quarters while out to pick up the 2nd piece for a call. I just wonder if they were responding as the Hazmat Tech Unit or for other reasons.
That could be. Hate to say it like the city next to our I live in. They have a hazmat unit for the whole city. And at another they have a water rescue. They have 19 fire stations. Most of them have 1 fireturck pumper or ladder truck 1 ambulance. Others are bigger so they have a lot more stuff. Ladder trucks. And bigger pumper trucks.
Wicked vid !! wow thats a nice little Truck very cute with that tiny door i feel sorry for the bloke that has to reverse that truck back into the station nerves of steel
Kylie Provis I have seen much tighter I used to go out on a run with my father as a truck driver he used to back septic tankers into Gates and doors tighter then that
That’s why there are Master Heavy Operator. Not these sissy’s who can’t drive a stick. Needs an automatic. Only 2 real things left in the fire service Fireman with mustaches and fire trucks that bend in the middle
Squad companies have two components. They're an additional manpower unit that can do engine and truck company work, but they also have specialized equipment and training for hazardous materials incidents, which is stored in that second rig.
I'd have to imagine they call over the radio as squad 18 unite # whatever. A few stations by me in the lower suburbs of Chicago have multiple squads all numbered the same and use this method.
Brandon Hess Well, not exactly. The Squad (the first truck) has the responsibility of two different units at the same time. The emergency that they where called for, though, required the extra truck that was in the fire station. That truck has more specialized equipment inside that can better deal with that emergency they were going to.
No they didn't forget it that 2nd truck is only used for a small handful of incident types they respond alone usually so they would of been on another run and then got sent to something that requires the 2nd piece
León Coretz because Then the rest of the crew is there with no equipment at all, so it does them no good to stay. Also if they get routed to another call, they don't have a full crew. They might not have even been on scene yet either, just turned around, or they're coming back from a call and get called out again.
Which one is rare The Freightliner or the Seagrave. Or just them responding to station to take it out? (Sorry i do not know much about the FDNY wasn't a big video fan until now i have started watching)
Jeffrey No worries! The freightliner wasn't captured this good yet. But what makes it VERY rare is that the seagrave is responding to the firehouse to get the 2nd piece!

UA-cam home page on the app.
I never thought the biggest city in North America would also have the world's smallest fire station.
nyc is big. there are different parts...idiot
WBG Gaming, damn dude all I said was that's a small ass fire station for a big ass city. Duh!
And it's not divided into "parts." They are called boroughs. I'm from Texas and even I know that.
And boroughs further break down into "Neighborhoods". The FDNY has 255 stations (Including 34 EMS Stations and 3 Fireboat Stations)
Technically Mexico City is slightly larger
No room for error backing those babies in.
Crazy how tight that fit was
Thomas Burke that's what I said to your daughter
Please behave!
HAahahaha.
And one wonders why certain men usually get a beat down. Ignorance at its finest when they need to make preschool comments
I love the look of the freightliner M2
In my recommendations feed. Thank you for sharing this. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice. I salute you all.
That door way had about an Inch clearance on both sides max. Good job for not scratching the shit out of the sides of that truck
Brilliant video !! Love the look of Squad 18 !!
I know right! I was lucky again! :)
Aha awesome catch! Squad 18 and their new 2nd piece look awesome!
I know! I was so lucky!
Wow that door way is tight for those fire trucks
All those big engines coming out of those tiny holes... amazing!
My big engine regularly goes in and out of tiny holes. You dig?
I like how fast they got their second truck out the garage.
Very awesome catch!
great video! Wish I looked for this station when I was NY. Next time :~)
TackerVideos Hopefully you will! Took me a hour before they had a call! Great firehouse at 132 West 10'th St.
I am simply glad that I caught Rescue 1 going code back in 2015! I have maybe a dozen FDNY on here, but nothing of squad 18.
So was the situation one where the fire station covers 1 complete block width, such that in order to get the 2nd truck out, they took the big rig out from a garage door on the next block over and then drove around the block to the 2nd door, to retrieve the squad unit from that entrance?
Whew, that's a tight squeeze.

NYC is too congested to build large firehouses and with our budget we are lucky to keep the existing companies open!
@@smedleybutler1969 I understand living in Chicago.
Great catch! Boy thats a tight fit.
Such a rare catch. Very nice!
Wow, that's awesome pretty cool catch!!!!!!! Favorite!

I have been to that house and saw both squad and help truck respond to a hazmat fire luck day to be me
Wonder how a Pierce PUC heavy rescue would work for these guys. Replace all.squads with full sized wet rescues?
Damned tight fit!
thats what she said lol
I Wonder if its one of the original houses that had like horses or could be early 19oos trucks and pumpers were a lot smaller then
I don't know if that building is an historic landmark or something but they really need to widen those doors.
I love New York City squad 18 Fire Truck & TRV TRUCK & FIREMAN 🇺🇸👨🚒🇺🇸👨🚒🇺🇸👨🚒🇺🇸👨🚒🇺🇸
Awesome video! 😁
A very tight entrance/exit!
Amazing catch!
Thank you!!
Wow that's a tight squeeze!
Awesome catches ;o)
Thank you so much!
I've noticed New York seems to have their own unique siren. Is there any reasoning behind that?

Does FDNY wait for the building to burn down before leaving the house? Seems so in every video I've seen....
consulta qué función cumple esa unidad y la del escuadrón? alguien me puede ayudar?

ALRIGHT THATS GOOD
i love american firetrucks ♥
That must be a real pain the ass to get that in there poor guy
Even angels need a little time to spread their wings.
will the real squad 18 please stand up.......
Anytime they leave or come back they have precision to fit those trucks through the door

Fireman with mustaches and fire trucks that bend in the middle
That is seriously cool.
- that's tight
God those “electric chicken” sirens. I really dislike ours.
Wow that siren sounded like someone emptying their bowels after being constipated for a month @ 1m 33s.
A familiar sound in your house, no doubt....
I just love rotators!

awesome
Nice Great work keep it up
I LOVE SQUAT 18 AND THE FIREFIGHTER TO AND THE VIDEO'S TO YOU GUY'S ROCK👨🚒👨🚒 I LOVE NYC FOREVER
I was expecting it to be horse drawn.
So do both trucks go by squad 18?
Okay, that's a cool vid
Son joyas...!!!!
Nice catch
So do they keep that truck in another location or we're they just out already and had to come back for the 2nd??
Owen Cousins Yes they were out and came back to their firehouse to get the 2nd rig
nice great work
pretty tight squeeze!
It seems odd to me to see two pieces that carry the same unit designation.
Squad companies have two components. They're an additional manpower unit that can do engine and truck company work, but they also have specialized equipment and training for hazardous materials incidents, which is stored in that second rig.
Boy that is a tight fit.
Two pieces? Must have been a Tuesday at Popeyes :D
Would be sweet to work for 18
Thank god im not the chauffeur
What identifier do they use for the the 2nd piece on the radio since they're both marked as Squad 18? I didn't notice any other markings.
I'd have to imagine they call over the radio as squad 18 unite # whatever.
A few stations by me in the lower suburbs of Chicago have multiple squads all numbered the same and use this method.
I'd imagine they do like Chicago squad 18 and squad 18-a
@@maxhallman1036 there is a squad 1a and 1 and i think there are prob 4 squads and one of them are at a airport
@@NovaStar1 yeah Squad 1 Squad 1A and Squad 7 and Squad 7A
Never understood what the 2nd Piece was for
It’s a support truck
What? No one was left at the station to man this equipment in case it was needed? Very odd.
David Hoffman typically you are assigned to a rig but possibly this is not used much so there is not a crew assigned to it.
Nice !!
Mercí!
So the first fire trucks job was to get the other one? 🤔
Brandon Hess Well, not exactly. The Squad (the first truck) has the responsibility of two different units at the same time. The emergency that they where called for, though, required the extra truck that was in the fire station. That truck has more specialized equipment inside that can better deal with that emergency they were going to.
The first truck might have been coming back from a run or doing something like groceries when it got the call to respond with it's 2nd unit.
WTF? Did they forget the second vehicle?👍😁😎
No they didn't forget it that 2nd truck is only used for a small handful of incident types they respond alone usually so they would of been on another run and then got sent to something that requires the 2nd piece
Tim Morgan OK it just looked a little weird that they came back for that truck.👍😁😎
By the time they get all that done whoever they were going to rescue would already be dead
Not disagreeing, just another point to up staffing
Why couldn't they just send two persons to get the apparatus? Why call the whole unit back?
León Coretz because Then the rest of the crew is there with no equipment at all, so it does them no good to stay. Also if they get routed to another call, they don't have a full crew. They might not have even been on scene yet either, just turned around, or they're coming back from a call and get called out again.

Oh alright.Great video and Thanks for replying, Most youtubers don't
Jeffrey You're welcome! Have fun watching the videos! When you have any questions, just ask them!
Another Burglary Courtesy of FDNY
They need bigger stations.
Thank you for hiving me a heart. I really appreciate the way they handle themselves.
tight quarters!
nvere see that be fore
Is that the Hazmat tender component of a FDNY squad company?
Correct!
So why wasn't the hazmat truck and the Squad under one station?
@@jerrybutler6167 NYC has one dedicated hazmat unit for the whole city and its just easier to call the squads out
is squad 18 new?????
tight squeeze
Nice.
Has anyone here driven anything more than a Prius in their life? People seem to be overreacting.
Why
Seriouse question not being sarcastic, Just wondering why this is a "rare" video or the FDNY responding??
joey bag-a-donuts! It’s rare that the fireman responded to the firehouse to get their 2nd piece, a rig that wasn’t captured this good!
It almost didn't fit.
What is the purpose of the second piece? Rescue etc
It’s used as a hazmat truck. All fdny squad companies have them to use for hazmat responses
Oh why is it rare? That’s a tight fit
Having to go back and get the second unit
How much "KY. jelly" do they use to get that rig in and out of that Fire house?
Don’t want to sound stupid.. but they had to go back to station to get second truck? Why is this rare?
Having to go back and get it
Guy , there a ad BEFORE , WHILE and AFTER your video. There more AD TIME than your video got time. Sad.
Pacatus ‘Guy’, it took you probably long to think about what to comment. In the meantime, you could’ve been watching two other videos! Get over it.
If you need money you better find a job , than making your own butter on the back of the firefighter
Pacatus Have a great day cactus!
So what this truck do that the other one can't
Brendan Gargan They carry more hazmat equipment!
I respect fdny fire dept there hard job in world keep nyc safe
