      My question ever thought it was a good idea to build houses this close together ?

    • @stillbobrb9
      @stillbobrb9 День тому

      @@jeffbecker9809it’s difficult to explain this in 2024 but when first build, the lots were small and the house was built to cover 90% of the lot. In richer neighborhoods lots were bigger. My grandmother’s lot was large enough to build a garage, even though my grandparents never owned a car. This was the way houses were built around 1900.

House fires are seriously no joke at all.

    FAD 312 is a seasoned veteran at the console. Dispatchers are assigned Call sign numbers. The closer you get to #1 the more seniority you have. As you move up you get a lower number. This gent has around 20 years on the job if I'm not mistaken.

    what is the function of fieldcom? They only provide communication between the dispatcher and the command post? If so, why a special vehicle? Can't there be a firefighter in the command post who will maintain communication with the dispatcher? Does fieldcom also have any tasks in communication between the command post and firefighters on the scene?

    • @bigboyhotstuff
      @bigboyhotstuff 3 місяці тому +6

      Field Comm are dispatchers assigned to the field to help relay information to the dispatchers to keep radio traffic to a minimum and to directly correlate fire ground info to and from the command post.
      Radio traffic in multiple alarmers like this become a lot more organized upon the arrival of field comm. They alleviate a lot of the back and forth between the Aides, who are already handling both fire ground audio and dispatch audio. Their difference is felt immensely once they’re set up.

      @@bigboyhotstuffSo the filed comm is not responsible for commanding firefighters working on a fire or analyzing information between them and the command post? • @bigboyhotstuff
      @bigboyhotstuff 3 місяці тому

      @@yryzforyryz3603 firefighters do not communicate with field comma at all on the ground. Resource unit leader chiefs, fire sector chiefs and command with a command channel set up will communicate with field comm on a separate channel to keep fire ground audio/chatter ad its own separate entity. It just helps keep the fire ground audio between firefighters, officers and chiefs strictly fire ground comms, and then the pertinent information needed to be relayed to dispatch and incoming units, to be strictly that on its own channel.

    • @dennishohl1067

      I believe that field com serves a few different purposes. 1. Accountability,
      With that many units and personnel they establish a personnel accountability system, and I think Field Com manages that. 2. The incident commander is relieved from communicating CANs (Conditions Actions and Needs) to Dispatch. Field Com manages that aspect. I think Field Com also monitors many MAYDAY, or FF Personal Alert Systems activations
