This is a discussion topic video about the sixth generation of videogame consoles. This will be part four of my five part mini-series. Here we will discuss the Microsoft XBox, the third entry in to the sixth generation of game consoles.
Sorry for the death of your mother Adam. I've never gone through the tragedy of losing a family member so I'm sure its pretty difficult to handle. You are an extremely bright and interesting individual and I'm sure your mother was too. God bless you and get well soon❤
"[Conker: Live & Reloaded] is kinda rare nowadays."
*3-4 years later, the game hits Xbox One backwards compatibility which has a digital version be put on the Xbox Marketplace.*
but you cant dl it if MS shut down the servers, so its not true BC
@@youhavenoprivacyandownnoth8289 Not the point of the joke.
@Chris Shark How?
@Chris Shark I mean, I've seen a more positive review on Exo Paradigm Gamer's channel when he compared it to the original, so...I don't know if it's universal unless you play both yourself.
Even came on games with gold last month
Puyo Pop Fever did have a Japanese release for the Xbox in Japan actually.
Panzer Dragoon Orta and Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge and star wars republic commando. I’ve always felt the OG Xbox was the closest thing to a Dreamcast 2 we are ever getting.
My Xbox is still original without mods and with 2 duke's controllers!
Now that's purity.
Same here, always two there are, no more, no less.
Wow Dude you're very Lucky
3 years ago I was in a game store and said "Wow, an OG xbox, in the box, for $90, amazing!!" The guy says to me "It's still sealed, never been opened."
I bought it. I opened it. The first time I turned it on... my god the nostalgia!!
Great story that's a damn steal! Also GO AVS!!!
You bought Shrek because Shrek is love, and Shrek is life.
RedCalx Z Shut up Knockles, you idiot.
ThePreciseClimber *Knuckles
RedCalx Z That's the joke.
ThePreciseClimber knock knock it's Knockles.
RedCalx Z LOL
I think the Halo series is part of what made Xbox so popular
Well yeah.
I think the Mario series is part of what made Nintendo so popular
What a stupid comment. No shit dude
i have the original halo and it’s not that good tbh
you guys Shrek was Master Chief the whole time
I don't understand why everyone hates the duke controller. It's one of the most comfortable controllers I've ever used. I even prefer it slightly more than the Xbox 360 controller.
Michael Wolfe yeah if you have big hands it’s good
'Merica
'Murica
I like my hands spread out, not cramped like the PlayStation controller. The Duke is the best.
@@LUCKO2022 how is the bottom placement pisspoor its way better than the s controller. Its in the start and select is in the middle where it should be and the black and white buttons are easy to get to.
I love PS2, but the Xbox actually has a better image at 480i composite than the PS2 has at 720p component. (both are great in their own right)
The Adequate Gamer Well you cant actually reach 720p via component cables (unless im confused and component IS the blue/green colored cables)
+amartinez97 Component cables can go up to 720p and even 1080i depending on the game and the console's dashboard.
yeah, i had them confused with composite.
+amartinez97 It's okay. Interestingly, it's similar to the first model of the Xbox 360 where it can only use both Component and VGA. But with VGA it can go up to 1080p in an analog format, which is the best way to get out of that specific model of the Xbox 360.
+The Adequate Gamer of course, ones playing at it's native resolution and ones being upconverted.
7.52 LOL Bill's Xbox 360 Is Already Red Ringed
yea, noticed it too right away :)
7:52
It’s technically not red ring
I just found you but damn you fill me with way more info than anyone has so far for consoles. Have a subscriber sir, your research and detail astounds me.
Honeslty I never owned the console since I had a Ps2 and Gamecube. But I got one in 2008 and I have to say I really liked the system. The system ended being my favorite of that gen even tho I will admit I didn't own it at that time. I regret not owning one tho I have played 40 or so games on it. It handled Muti plays better then the Ps2, it got great games like jade empire, stars kotr, panzar dragon orta, jet set radio future, halo 1 2 of course since those were the first two games I got for it. Dead or alive 3 and utilmate which were the reason I wanted the console. Etc. Ssx 3 is my favorite game of all time and the Xbox version was my favorite. I agree with you about the Xbox being the best of that generation. I liked the small controller even tho it wasn't perfect. The big I agree sucked the triggers where clunky, it was way to big to. Xbox has my favorite version of silent Hill 2 to. Great console.
Hey Adam, it's really cool to see that you're one of the few UA-camrs who actually goes out of his way to talk to his fans like they're people, and not just fans and that's really cool. I've been looking for a channel like yours for a while, just someone who likes to talk about games and discuss the and you're down to earth and earned yourself another subscriber. Keep up the good work.
I agree Adam is awesome
Thanks dude, I try.
zachmanrulez
The original Xbox was a big part of my child hood. I played the crap out of Knights of the Old Republic
Shulk and now you can play that game on the xbox one
@@Jon-lp6en and now you can play it EXCLUSIVELY on the PlayStation 5
Here during the 20 year anniversary of the original Xbox.
The Shrek story holds up better nowadays that he’s a meme.
Sorry for what happened to your old house. However that box of Xbox, PS2, and GameCube games is like a time capsule from 16-17 years ago. Hope you feel better soon.
I'm surprised you haven't picked up Metal Wolf Chaos, the most American game to never be released in America.
I have it.
The original Microsoft Xbox is powerful it had a 733 Intel central processing unit and Nvidia graphics processing unit
I don't know if you're still reading these, Adam. To answer that question you asked about there being "American Pride" intertwined with the Xbox brand, well, where I'm from there is a little bit. I don't know if this American Pride with everyone wearing camo, sleeveless tees and driving Jeeps has swept the nation among 17-22 year olds. It has where I'm from. I'm from Plymouth, Massachusetts. (I totally feel safe saying that because it's the largest town that isn't a city...) Anyway everyone around here has an Xbox instead of a Playstation. I know when I was deciding that it was a thought that crossed my mind. When I think of consoles i think of Xbox as the American console.
I'm an "AMURICAN", and I can't say I had an affinity with Xbox because of that. But I live in Washington close to Seattle and knowing that the console (plus games like Halo) originated from there was an attraction for me in buying the Xbox 360 in 2009.
Story time: I was a hella fat kid being 135 lbs in 3rd grade. In 4th grade, my parents and I made a deal that if I dropped to a 120 lbs or less, I could get an Xbox 360 Elite (OG 360 120gb black console). That Summer, I got pneumonia and the swine flu. No joke, later I found myself at exactly 120 lbs. My dad basically said a "deal was a deal". And I got my 360 my 5th grade Christmas.
I still got an OG Xbox later from one of my uncles (after the 360), and then bought a couple others from Goodwill recently. One of my other Uncle's used to work in the Xbox division and he had an early version of the Kinect, (then project Natal I think). I remember we tried Kinect Sports and Dance Central in October 2010 which was a month before it's release and I thought it was revolutionary and way better than the Wii. Of course the novelty wouldn't last long and I didn't much care after that.
I still have yet to try and get my hands on the "Big Duke" Controller. I saw one once I think, but that could've been a fever dream or something.
I've got 3 OG Xbox's right now. I'm looking to hard mod one. On one of them, the disc tray doesn't work, and the other 2 does. But one of them is 1.5 model and... You know what, at this point in the explanation, just watch @MrMario2011. I've drunkenly rambled long enough.
Looking back at the 6th generation the Xbox was the only console I never had experience with and dismissed it for being... different. I had one who had games like Halo, JSRF or Soul Calibur I could play with, but I wasn't too hot on the console myself..
Now, after more than a decade later, I see now all the great exclusives the system had, and modding it with a 1TB drive sure gave it a new life I didn't see before. It's hard for me to decide my favorite console for that generation but as a whole I think it's the second best after the 4th generation. All the consoles did amazing things on their own right :)
I had both PS2 and GameCube and the only experience I had with this was when I was like 8 in summer camp and one of the teachers owned a Xbox and they let us play it during the day sometimes. None of us had any games for so we played the one game the teacher had. And it was madden I'm not sure which one I think it was 06 or 05. But hell did I hate that controller playing a original Xbox controller then going home to play a PS2 controller was just ughhhhh
I liked the Xbox and I wish I had it today.
I know what you mean I was the same way but now I love the original Xbox
You can even rip the CD audio files of Daytona USA on the Saturn to the XBOX and have the Daytona USA playing on the racing games.
Happy 20th birthday to the original xbarge
Oops I’m sorry, I meant to say original Xbox
IM FROM THE FUTUUUUUREEEEE... XBOX ONE WILL PLAY OG XBOX GAAAAMESSSS
I'm also from the future there will be a scamdemic in 2020 🤯🤦♂️😔
Shrek is actually decent on the Xbox, have fond memories of it
The original Xbox was manufactured until sometime in 2008. Madden 09 was the last if not one of the last games released for the console.
I'm looking at the list of all games right now and it appears to me that the last game that was worth a damn (of good quality and wasn't available on the 360) was Splinter Cell Double Agent. The 6th gen version was a completly different game and I've heard a lot of Splinter Cell fans like it more than the 360 version because it was more similar to Chaos Theory.
Actually the Original Xbox Discontinued March 2, 2009. The Servers on Xbox Live for the Original Xbox Shut Down April 15, 2010.
I know I have an unpopular opinion, but I love the duke controller. I even have small hands, but it just fits so perfectly.
As far as I know, the only industry that people buy because it’s made in America is cars....there are people that refuse to buy foreign cars and they’ll only buy Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc...
Adam, I have a question.
Why do you capitalize the b and spell it "XBox" rather than "Xbox"? Even the original manual for the console does not do this. Microsoft themselves called it "Xbox", not "XBox".
I see "XBox" and I think that you held shift too long, but this isn't the first time I've seen you do it.
That's how Microsoft used to spell it, I just got used to it.
AdamKoralik
You must not be remembering correctly.
Look in the manual for the system. It spells it either XBOX (all in caps) or Xbox, never "XBox". The same is true of any Xbox game or its manual, even launch titles like Wreckless The Yakuza Missions. There is no official source for "XBox".
Barely any mention of Xbox Live?? Built in Broadband and voice chat enabled multiplayer?? This was such a game changer...
You'll...live.
Sweet, I didn't know Sam Bradford made retro game videos.
Lol
Xbox and ps2 was tit for tat because you if didn't need to buy a remote for one than you had pay 20-30 bucks for a memory card for the other either way
I loved the duke controller. I was heartbroken when it eventually broke due to wear and had to get an S controller. The Duke was much more comfortable.
: Shrugs. :
To each their own sir.
OmegaBlades I loved the duke to! Mainly cause I don't have bitch hands
AJ Green my hands are decently big
Love this and your fifth Gen Recap :) Adam, I done a 7 year Xbox Retrospective on my channel, I reckon you'd appreciate it. Obviously anybody else that is interested in the Original Xbox will enjoy it too.
I transitioned from Dreamcast to Xbox. Halo blew me away, and I was hooked. Loved Forza, KOTOR, JSRF, PRoject Gotham, the list goes on. I bought up several Duke controllers years back, love them, my favorite controller to this day.
I am still glad I bought this a couple of years ago and still love it to this day. If anyone hates it because of the duke controller, I would tell them to get the s version
after watching this I want to go buy an xbox
And I Hate Gamestop and there Shady Buisness Tactics like the one you mentioned
Best thumbnail ever.
As much as I love Halo, actually IN MY OPINION Halo is my favorite series of all time, the first is not THAT good. I think it doesn't really live up to today with the TERRIBLE spawn system in multiplayer, and how slow it is. Some people think it's the best one yet, but I don't think so.
I have both the Duke and s type controllers with my original Microsoft Xbox
I'm getting a Duke controller soon to go with my newly purchased XBOX.
@@PaperBanjo64 it's totally worth buying the Duke s type Xbox DVD play back kit advanced av pack
12:26 Shrek is love, Shrek is life.
I really need to mod my PAL Xbox one of these days (ugh a pun) to get proper 480p. Thanks, Microsoft...
actually The GameCube has a more powerful GPU .
The Xbox edges out the GameCube at everything else .
Love watching these videos - extremely informative and great to look back on. The original xbox was by far my favorite console of this gen, even though I did own all 3. One thing I surprised you did not mention was how MS created Xbox Live and how it really changed (or honestly took off) how consoles did online gaming - common gametag account across all games, friends list, etc.
Thanks, Honestly, I never really used it.
thats what I figured - watching the 360 look back now and you mentioned you're not much of a multiplayer gamer. For me, Live was a huge selling point and along with the better graphics, custom sound tracks, etc. was just another reason to get multi-plats over gamecube/PS2
Probably because it's one of, if not the most, depressing gaming topics to discuss. In the long run, looking at it now, I'd say Xbox Live ruined console gaming moreso than anything else coming from any other game-related company at any point in history.
My favourite console of all time, with the Dreamcast being second. My original console is still going strong today, Rocky 5 softmod, 2tb hdd installed and origins build is keeping it alive as well as yearly thermal paste changes. Even my son, born in 2018, loves crazy taxi 3 and jsrf! An emulation beast and epic console
Very good video man!
I've never been a fan of Xbox, but i respect it. In fact, i wouldn't mind having one :P
Of course, because it has some of the Sega Dreamcast games haha
izumi937 Now's the time, it's super cheap.
***** lol man! I don't like Sony! xD
***** Xbox had very bad marketing (as far as i remember) in Argentina... plus, i never been a person with money :P
You: I wanna get an Xbox.
Me: Get Ninja gaiden black! GET NINJA GAIDEN BLACK!!
I recently just bought a OG Xbox and I love it!! Came here to here your wisdom 🙏🙌 😆 have you made a list of games to buy on this system?
Not a list per-say, some of my favorites include the Star Wars Battlefront games, Shenmue 2, Second Sight, Conkers Bad Fur Day, and more.
@@AdamKoralik thank you for the suggestions! Keep doing the great videos bro!
Ah yes the old Xbox. This was a really unique console experience for me. See while I had dabbled with online with the Dreamcast, it was the original Xbox that really brought the online experience to the next level. Like you I felt the Xbox was the unofficial successor to the Dreamcast because of all the SEGA games from Shenmue II to Panzer Dragoon Orta, and all the others, the Xbox felt like the next logical evolution of the Dreamcast, and I still felt that way going into the 360. Sadly the Xbox One fiasco changed my opinion, but regardless, the Xbox was a really great system that looks fantastic today with component cables. Great video Adam, and part of me hopes you continue to do this with all previous generations that you experienced :)
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for making this series. I really encourage you to continue. It brings back a ton if awesome memories :)
Project COE Happy to, part 5 comes out later today.
I'm looking forward to it, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on the earlier generations, even if you were a wee lad back then ;)
Project COE Yeah, I don't know, the further back you go the harder it gets.
Unfortunately Adam, Silent Hill 2 is not a good example to use for the Xbox's superior hardware. You see, Silent Hill 2 is an example of a game that was solely made with the PS2's hardware in mind that porting the game would lead to problems and some downgrades. For examples, the fog affects are paired back, the audio is severely muffled, the FMV cut scenes are less detailed and run at half the frame rate compared to the PS2, ect. Are there some advantages? Yes. The Xbox version does run at 480p. As for the extras that the Xbox version got, all of them were added to the PS2's re release via Greatest Hits. It just goes to show that superior hardware does not mean a better version of the game. If that were the case, Grandia 2 would've been better on the PS2 compared to the Dreamcast version. If you don't believe me, check out Digital Foundry's retrospective on Silent Hill 2.
i love these videos
So true about the americans not typically associating the xbox brand with the United States.
The Xbox might have only lasted until the 360, but it still sold 2 million more units than the GameCube.
killatji11 I guess if it really depends if you like the exclusives, which is why a lot of people love it and the Dreamcast.
Microsoft lost a lot of money though on the Xbox, Nintendo was able to make small profit on the Gamecube
You could update the Xbox from game discs, Inserting a game requiring a newer system software and trying to play would prompt you to update it to the latest Dashboard firmware. Luckily Microsoft actually thought ahead on that one(I believe the Wii does the same thing with software updates) But obviously unless you have a new enough game, there is no real way to update it, but the games requiring a certain dashboard would usually come with it on the disc.
ATTENTION ORIGINAL XBOX v1.0-v1.5 USERS! The original Xbox has a very low quality capacitor that keeps time. It is prone to leakage, which, can corrode the motherboard and kill your system. It most likely started leaking for many Xbox users, including me. When I opened up my Xbox, the capacitor had leaked all over the motherboard, I was lucky it didn't kill my system yet! Yes, the Xbox will still function without the capacitor ONLY if the console is a v1.0-v1.5. This doesn't apply to v1.6 versions of the Xbox, because it has a better quality capacitor and IT CANNOT BE REMOVED or else your v1.6 Xbox will not function. I am writing this comment because a lot of original Xbox users still don't know about this serious issue. If you need a tutorial on how to do this, they can be found on UA-cam or by doing a simple search on the internet. (IF YOU NEGLECT TO REMOVE YOUR CAPACITOR ON YOUR V1.0-V1.5 XBOX, YOUR CONSOLE WILL FAIL VERY SOON)
I was worried about that when a bought mine a couple years ago. Made in 05. I opened it up only to see it was a v.1.6. So that's a big relief.
Also the star wars games are also really good games on the xbox original.
The last Xbox system I ever owned.
Actually sega split they're franchises between the XBox and GameCube .
Also several ex sega devs have stated the gamecube was the easiest.
gamecube mostly got Sega ports from what I remembered
i realy like the original xbox way better than one and 360 ANYDAY
MsKaiserdaniel are you high?
I loved my XBox 360 but when I got the red ring of death microsoft's customer service sucked and i moved over to the PS3 Slim never had a single problem with my PS3 Slim "Touch wood",maybe I'm old-fashioned or out of reality but if i buy a piece of hardware for a few hundred quid I expect it to work for atleast 10 years
Same Dude
Love your videos mate
Had my Original X-Box stashed away in a cupboard in my house. After watching this I decided to set it up again and have been playing it recently
So thanks for giving me the impetus!
vdd For sure, thanks for watching!
Think about it. Microsoft tried to partner with both Nintendo and Sega before the Xbox. Imagine if we had Halo and Mario on the same console or if the Xbox had backwards compatibility with DreamCast games. Fun to think about, but Microsoft would likely ruin those companies in the end so it's good they didn't buy them and made their own console.
Conker reloaded was boring didnt have even the where you play as the squirrel how to get to your girlfriend go to the cemetery full of zombies where character that's supposed to be death comes and gives you a shotgun with a laser it was my favorite part shit that's the whole reason I bought the 64 version then I bought the Xbox version cuz i thought it had it too but it didn't so it was boring cuz I missed the mini game were I played as Matrix or cave man vs dinosaurs
Burn out 3 man. You could listen to your music while you play. Fucking awesome!
Yeah man. Burnout Revenge is even better. In fact, it's better than the 360 version.
lol, EB games.... I remember when they were called "Electronics Boutique". Of course, i also remember Babbage's, and Software Etc.....
You picked Shrek over Halo.
Shrek shall reward your devotion to Shrek.
Shrek is love. Shrek is life.
I bought a gamecube and my roommate bought a Xbox, it was so fucking slow! My gamecube loaded faster ran smoother and aside from halo and forza my roommate was always playing on my gamecube. Yes it has a faster chip and all that shit but it has a PC based os so it boggs it down whereas gc and PS2 just played games. PS Prime 2 had better graphics than halo 2 and that's according to every video game magazine at that time!
Bing bing wahoo
It's funny because I acknowledge the fact that Xbox is American, but it gives me no pride at all as an American. I loved the first Xbox's build quality, but 360 killed all my trust. I will probably skip out on the Xbox One just because of how bad xbox 360 was built.
+striderpsv Honestly in my opinion the Xbox One is built similar to the first Xbox. It has the same texture and build quality as the original Xbox. But I digress.
+TheDawnofRock I'm sure the Xbox one absolutely doesn't have anywhere near the failure rate as the 360 did.
I can agree there. No problems with mine so far. I will say that I'm probably not the only person to go to as all my friends have PS4s. So I have not had experience with joining games or the party system.
+striderpsv The Xbox One is built pretty well, I've owned mine since about a month after launch and haven't had any problems. Just don't position it vertically, it damages the disc drive.
Not all 360's are the same. The 360 S is reliable
Oh my god, I was gonna ask if you ever got jet set radio future and then you had the dual-disc. I remember playing that game all day. One of my favorites to be honest.
Here in Australia, Xbox isn't that big. It's a PlayStation dominated country. Regardless of this video I still think Americans buy it because of American pride. There's a reason Xbox is only universally liked over there.
Well, since I actually LIVE here, I can tell you that's not the case.
I can't fathom why Americans like it so much then. 99% sure Xbox placed last in every generation it's been in down here, even sold worse than DC. If it's not pride then, it's something unique that only Americans understand.
Deathgaze : Shrugs. :
Canada and the UK tend to go XBox as well.
I don't pretend to know why.
Trust me though, it's really not a pride thing.
Here maybe they just market more.
One of my all time favourite consoles. I modded mine when it was a new system. They pretty much have to be modded these days to keep them alive. The clock capacitor's need to be removed before they explode all over the motherboards, which is hardly a mod, but it affects all models except version 1.6. More importantly the hard drives are required for the system to run and hard drives eventually fail, modding the system is the only way to swap the hard drives out because they need to be locked to the console
Growing up in Russia, I've never even heard of Xbox, so I had to buy a PS2. What a shame, sounds like it was a great console for its time. The DVD dongle is bullshit though, I've watched a lot of DVDs back then and DVD players were actually the same price as a new PS2, so it was a no-brainer. Anyway, nice review man! I'm really enjoying the series.
Art Raz did you you hear of the GameCube or dreamcast?
I understand the Xbox is the technically superior one of the 6th gen, but I always that Gamecube games overall looked better. I don't know how this stuff works exactly, but a lot of that power probably went to 480/720/1080p output because none of the textures/graphics on xbox games never looked good to me, while I have Xbox on component, i have GC on component as well and I just think so many of them look so beautiful, so due to that I always regarded Gamecube as the "most powerful" even though I guess that's not technically true.
Also I agree, never understood the Halo jizzing. Oddworld Munch's odyssey was my fav Xbox game.
Just a ittle tid-bit for ya, the first actual mass public gathering after 9/11 was WWE Smackdown live on September 13, 2001 from Houston, Texas. (For those a bit more wrestling savvy, it was during the Invasion storyline at the time)
RockRedGenesis Well I did use the qualifier "in New York City." Though, that is actually interesting none the less.
AdamKoralik No, it i actually not interesting or topical. Rockred; nobody cares bout wraslin.....except children and possibly the inbred (its a toss up with inbred children though).
Daniel Tittyfish
If you are not interested then why the fucking hell did you reply?
RockRedGenesis I find it best to tell stupid people that they're stupid.
You're stupid.
Daniel Tittyfish
Oh, no... I don't how to come back from this, i'm devastated, i can't possibility come back from such a personal attack!
Please, you really think i give a shit what you think.
You think wrestling is stupid, fine. Couldn't care less. You think people who watch it are stupid also, good for you, go fuck yourself.
I was posting a little bit of info that the content maker might or might not be interested in, something he might not have known, but given that the particular episode of wrestling i was referring too happened 2 days after perhaps the biggest terror attack in US history. I thought it was of some importance, and thought that he mentioned that the XBOX 360 launch in New York happened in the same city as said attacks, was worth sharing.
But then again you probably believe the twin towers was brought down by unmanned drones flown by the US government or something, or that Area 51 does contain aliens, cause your smart like that, aren't you.
oh.. and the EB games never existed in México
Hearing and recalling battlefront 2 really makes EA's Battlefront seem redundant, doesn't it?
when I was in the military 2004 there was a way and we were at the barracks to link Xboxes together wirelessly that you plugged in the back.
James Piccone Yeah the wireless adapter pretty cool, even works with 360s
It is so strange that xbox games generally are dirt cheap in comparison and yet their cruddy ps2 counterparts with down graded graphics still hold some value. I love the xbox original all the way. One of my tops consoles for sure.
Take advantage of it while you can.
Do you think it will change?
Canadian Retro Of course.
Glad I am stockpiling now then yeeeehaaaaa!!!!!
Your kinda wrong. I see COMPLETE PS2 games on amazon for 1 Cent to $5.
Correction... "The Duke" was THE BEST controller... EVER....
+Randi Poling I've been getting used to The Duke since I bought it for $10.39 at Goodwill when I was living in Santa Clara, CA at the time (which was 3 months prior to relocating to Texas), and it's not a bad controller at all. I really do enjoy the Duke.
Am I the only one that prefers The Duke controller?
@Adam koralik i loved the Duke controller but Japanese killed the original xbox when 360 was made.
Shrek is love, Shrek is life.
*_'MURRRRRRR_* - icka!
The Xbox Live for this system was shut down on April 15th, 2010. Is it bad that I have that memorized?
Wwwwhattt? Star Wars Battlefront II for the original Xbox has GOOD DLC? The fuck is going on here?
i knew a kid in my agriculture class in high school that bought xbox consoles over anything else because they were developed by americans. but. he was also a neo nazi who stabbed a girl in the cheek with a pencil and watched hitler hate speeches on his zune. so...... yeah.....
Unfortunately in past I didn't realize the Xbox was the spiritual successor of the Dreamcast. I missed much Sega stuff because I didn't realize Sega even still exists after discontinued the Dreamcast.
I'd like to add for the Xbox oringal softmod you could eventually use Splinter Cell platinum hits for softmod. You could also use Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 eventually for the gamesave expilt. They also had Mechassault and Agent Under Fire to use before that. I think most people just used splinter cell it was cheap and easily avaivble.
used to think that eastern time zone was the last time zone till I drove up to northern Maine. I had a delivery in Houghton Maine and that is atlantic time zone, I believe it is called. that blew my mind. lol.
I iike the duke controller. I switch between both depending on what I'm playing.
and EB used to be the best in EU until GAME bought them. I remember 30days no fuss returns/exchanges even if you played the game.
Near where I live, there is still an Eb Games in the local mall. The mall wanted to revoke their lease and write a new one just to rename the store from EB to Gamestop, so they just never changed the name. It is still EB Games. Funny huh?
branden32210 Yes. And?
Robert Santellan Don't talk back to it, unfunny trolls can bite.
Where do you live? I need this.
Last time I was in our local mall a few months ago it was still EB games. I just looked it up and it still is EB games under the directory
there's a EB Games in Columbus Ga in the same strip as a Gamestop.
I'm a bit tempted by the Xbox because of those Sega exclusives, but the console is giant, hideous and super American feeling.
I am one of those people that actually enjoys the original Xbox more than the PS2, the multiplats were often times vastly superior, compare a game like Soul Calibur II on the Xbox to the ps2 version and the difference is nearly day and night, lighting effects were better, frame rate was smoother and character models were more detailed. So many games still look gorgeous to this day. The GTA trilogy is better on the Xbox thanks to improved visuals, the ability to play your own music and I even believe the Xbox controller is better suited for the series. First Person Shooters were always better on the Xbox thanks to the triggers which felt far more natural and precise. I feel racing games were also better suited for the Xbox thanks to the trigger buttons, as well as superior visuals. The main reason why I prefer the Xbox over the PS2 is the exclusives. I’m not big in to RPG’s anymore so the PS2’s edge in that category is somewhat irrelevant and the RPG’s that I do enjoy like Dragon Quest VIII, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy XII have been re-released, several of the exclusive killer apps on the ps2 found their way to the Xbox a year or two later, with bonus content added as well as improved visuals, with games like Metal Gear Solid 2, Silent Hill 2, Onimusha, Fatal Frame 1 and 2 and the GTA series included bonus features as well as improved visuals. And finally, the main reason why I prefer the Xbox over the PS2 is Sega’s support for the system, this was the closest Dreamcast fans ever came to a true successor to the beloved Sega console, with titles like Panzer Dragoon Orta, Shenmue II, Jet Set Radio Future, House of the Dead 3, Crazy Taxi 3, Gun Valkerie, and Sega GT 2002 (which was essentially the Xbox’s answer to Gran Turismo until Forza Motorsport came along). Ports of cutting edge titles like Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 simply would not be possible on Sony’s PlayStation 2, they were simply too graphically intense and expansive for the console. Games like Dead Or Alive3 and Project Gotham Racing also showcased the visual edge the Xbox has over its competition. Then of course we have Halo, which almost single handedly sold the Xbox in the consoles early days, becoming a staple in college dorm rooms and slumber parties for years to come, with Halo 2 being an absolute phenomenon when it launched in 2004. To this day the Halo series remains relevant even in the wake of Call of Duty and Fortnite, with Master Chief serving as the unofficial mascot for Microsoft’s line of consoles, I honestly believe that the Xbox One would have shifted millions more units if A new Halo would have launched with the console, or followed within the next year.
i agree SECOND SIGHT it's awesome game.
There is a legitimate reason why the Xbox wasn't able to do DVD support out of the box. MVG had a video on it. It comes down to licencing costs...
It's interesting watching comments about the Xbox One from 2014 in 2021.
I wonder if he has an updated take on the console in more recent videos.
Crazy how much Microsoft turned that thing around.
You forgot to mention that Soul Calibur II was 720p on the Xbox while other versions were 480p at best. This made Soul Calibur II on Xbox much better looking than other versions. Sadly, it was 720p but 4:3 aspect ratio instead of 16:9.
I loved this machine, I left the world of the Dreamcast to arrive on the xbox and continue to flee Sony and its shitty consoles. What a great choice. I am one of those people blown away by Halo or Rallysport Challenge + the superb graphics of this machine + optical audio output + enormous power. Awesome. Incredible to see how much this console is underestimated today, here in Europe, in my case in France, its second-hand cost, whether for consoles or games, remains very low.
You say it was the next logical step after the Dreamcast, I agree with you but a few years later I made a modest GameCube collection and I realized that on this console also SEGA had several excellent games that we felt were created for the Dreamcast. You could make a video on the subject, the SEGA Dreamcast games released on Cube or Xbox after the death of this one, maybe this is already the case, I haven't known your channel for a long time and I haven't seen everything yet!
In any case, thank you for your work, you are always well informed and you do not fall for the historical propaganda fabricated by time.
if you saw Splinter Cell running on xbox and ps2 side by side, the differences were night and day. in fact, all the Tom Clancy games were always superior not only graphicwise (is that a word?) but also game content.
