Haha sacrifices had to be made right 😆 I can only imagine how groundbreaking it must have been, especially given how much crisper Halo looked compared to basically any Ps2 game that had released up until that point!
Just Closed on my house this year, and out of 4 rooms, my wife let me have the biggest one (besides the Master) for my "office". It's now a small movie room/gaming and out of all my games , I tend to go more towards the good ol Xbox. Even more than the series X.

Still play my xbox and in my eyes, xbox won the 6th gen even though i had a ps2 and gamecube at the time of release, i wouldve traded both for the xbox. Now as an adult, when i go retro, i find myself playing the xbox over its competitors without looking back. Awesome retrospective, very informative
Totally agree because I had all three 6th gen consoles at the time. XBOX still looks great on a large flat screen if you have a decent set of component cables. Plus the sports games weren't even mentioned much in the vid. The OG always had the superior sports games looks wise. And for current days it's relatively easy to mod the xbox, install a large TB drive and have all the games at your fingertips. And if you're really into reliving the OG online days that's back online too. Just look it up in youtube.
Hello Zapata Zim, very good content, the original xbox is very powerful for its generation at that time, here in Brazil my channel is the only one to talk about the original xbox.
Hello from New Zealand RodrigoGames99! Thanks that means a lot! Yes I'm with you on that, the original Xbox is easily the most powerful system of it's time. Nice channel you have, it's awesome to see a channel almost entirely dedicated to such a wonderful machine. I've just jumped on board and subscribed to you 😁😎
My cousin's were big into Sega and right when I got old enough to buy my first console, the dreamcast died. My cousin had an Xbox though and after playing halo the first time I became a rabid Xbox fan. There are so many amazing hidden gems on Xbox and it is cheaper to collect for than most other systems
Next MVG maybe, he's aussie too right? Do more of the retrospectives. From what I can tell the YT algo like the word retrospective. Plus some emulation content and hardware modding of older consoles and I'll def turn on the alarm button @@ZapataZim_
I got my Xbox on July 3rd, 2005 as an early birthday present. It was actually my cousin's birthday that day and we quickly got set up in Halo 2 LAN parties. Im currently planning a LAN party for our 20th anniversary (of Halo 2) next year.
I was born in 94, so this is my childhood! A few years ago when I started working on my game room, I saved up periodically to purchase factory sealed, brand new consoles from my childhood just for a collection. I have a sealed 360 Elite-Modern Warfare 2 edition from 2009, a sealed PS2 Slim, and just got a sealed original Xbox which was by far the most expensive of the 3. When the consoles I actually use break beyond repair years down the road and parts/consoles are hard to come by, I will have these brand new ones waiting for me lol. I also like to buy and keep sealed games for the exact same reason.
Huge fan of the og xbox. I only got one for the first time this year, so I have no nostalgia for it, but that didn't matter. So many great games that disappeared after the 360 came out. Jade Empire, Deathrow, Razes Hell, Kung Fu Chaos, and Crimson Skies just to name a few of the amazing exclusives. Plus Insignia lets you play several games online again. I'm also not a fan of Halo, but Darkwatch is a fantastic game that was like a wild west Halo.
Good video I enjoyed it. 14:37 made me wince a bit. Today is October 19th, one year ago today my best friend died of a cocaine overdose. I miss him so much and it makes me so sad. We used to play Xbox together. RIP my friend 😢
I'm so sorry to hear that. It's never easy losing a friend. I think it is wonderful that you were able to have so many good times together doing something so awesome and special. He may have been taken away early, but I am sure that he is still there with you every day. And if there's one thing that certainly can't be taken away, it's the fond memories with him that you have, which you'll forever be able to cherish. Rock on my dude, you got this ❤🤟
Thanks for bringing this up - Yes you're correct though it was exclusive to the Xbox version first and then re-released on the greatest hits/directors cut for the Ps2.
One thing that the Original Xbox is worth buying is you get the best versions of most of the multiplatform games. Stuff like 480p/720p/1080i and better graphics and performances as well. One good example is the Tony Hawk series. I used to play THPS4 and THUG 1 and 2 in 480i on PS2, bought an Original Xbox copy of THUG1 and the jump to 720p was massive. I upgraded so many PS2 games to Original Xbox versions. Some of them even have true widescreen (No cropping BS) and that's good because you see more of your surroundings. Honestly if you own an Original Xbox, always buy Xbox versions of games unless those games are worst on Xbox and find them on PS2, GameCube or Dreamcast as well. If you own multiple consoles like me then why not buy the best version of that game?
Upgrading to Original Xbox ports is a game changer! Like Psychonauts for example! Didn't realized how shit the PS2 version I got back in the day is until I played the Original Xbox port of it. It's a game changer and thankfully you can play it on Series X. If you are short of a PC then Psychonauts 1 and 2 being played on a Series X are the best ways to play both games on a console. Though, some games I didn't get for Original Xbox. I stuck with my PS2 version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance because how unacceptably piss poor the Original Xbox port is and I got the GameCube version of Pac-Man World 2 because bad screen tearing. @@titanron30
Also I sticked with The Matrix: Path of Neo on PS2 because the Original Xbox port has slowdowns that don't exist in the PS2 version and more downgraded visuals.@@titanron30
Simpler times right. When things evolve it isn't always for the best, especially when you lose the privilege of real life interaction while gaming, ie with couch co-ops. I'm not against modern online gaming, but if I had the option to go back to how things were during the 6th gen, I'd most certainly make that decision without hesitation 👍
This was a great video!!! I've been an Xbox Head since I was 11 years old. I've owned all Xbox Consoles. I currently own the Xbox 360 Slim and the Xbox Series X. #xbox4life 😎💚🤘🏽🎮
12:59 i never had any of these issues either. The only reason I don't have an OG Xbox today is because my uncle stole it and pawned it in 08'. I had it from basically right after it came out until the summer after I graduated high school.
I got my Xbox after my cousin upgraded to the 360. I wish burnout dominator was released on it. Burnout 3 and burnout revenge looked phenomenal on the system so why not?
Nice one 👌Yes I agree, it would have looked phenomenal on the Xbox or the 360. Though it may have something to do with the game having been developed for the PSP and then ported to the Ps2 which may have resulted in difficulty porting that sort of game to an Xbox system, or perhaps licensing issues in general (just a guess).
There was good reason Microsoft locked DVD playback to the remote. This way the Xbox wasn't a DVD player by default and Microsoft didn't need to pay royalties to their rival, Sony. They still had to pay royalties when someone bought the remote, but that was far less often. For me it was no big Drama, when I started watching DVD, far better DVD players were out there.
I owned 4 throughout it's lifecycle and just have the crystal xbox now. I recently started up san andreas for old times sake and got an ear full of the cringy custom soundtrack that i made consisting of late 90's early 2000's dance, techno, pop and "whatever the hell i was on at the time" music.
Awesome stuff, the Crystal version looks amazing. Haha that must have been a heck of a throwback 🤣San Andreas rocks🤘I have fond memories with even little parts of it like riding a Freeway through Bone County with Free Bird or White Wedding playing 😃
Man what a wicked video thoroughly enjoyed watching it.👌🏻Also got a question for you what shelf/cabinet do you have for all your console displayed on been looking for a good shelf for myself.
Thanks man that means so much! Have another in the works, it's just taking a bit longer than I'd thought with life getting in the way. It's an IKEA Kallax! I couldn't recommend it enough. They're surprisingly sturdy for shelfs that aren't made of real wood :)
for me all 4 Splinter Cell games is also xbox exclusive too, the ps2 version doesn't count because on ps2 it's a huge downgrade and poor performance, so you'll still have to play on xbox to get true experience
I had a Thompson drive fail in a 1.1 version that I bought new after ripping nearly evert game they had at Blockbuster and that was an easy fix with a used drive off of Ebay. Then I had my used 1.6 die recently when it needed 5 capacitors around the CPU replaced, but that was VERY easy to repair. Other than that, pretty bulletproof systems!
Haha I suppose that's what can happen after a high volume of such activity 😆 Glad you didn't have any trouble repairing the CPU on your later one 👍Yep they certainly are!
Had one in my 20s, working and still at parents house. I got a bunch of games and Halo was part of the deal. Didn't fancy it. GTA 3 & VC came out so played them. Then mamy months later bored I slung Halo on - instantly hooked. Followed, excellent video and your 300th subscriber - hope you get many more.
Wicked. You definitely can't go wrong with GTA on the Xbox, especially with the extras that the Xbox variants offered. Ie rain drops, better textures, shadows all over the city etc. Yeah? Halo never had me mind you I'm not a huge FPS genre person , though I certainly understand why there's a huge following. Thank you so much! That means heaps :)
3:50 wrong. If Microsoft had made every single Xbox able to play dvds out of the box, then the console would've needed to be so expensive that nobody would've gotten one. Making it a $20 or $30 accessory, they could negotiate the licensing cost down to something reasonable.
Great video. You should do the sega dreamcast next. I actually still play the dreamcast online, Theres a sizeable community of us. Most of the games have had their servers brought back. A lot do what the Xbox did for online gaming the dreamcast started, so would be a really interesting video
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Wow that's amazing, I didn't realise a lot of the Dreamcast servers had been brought back. I've got a few in the Pipeline and am certainly not opposed to doing a video about the Dreamcast. I'll certainly need to do my research to make something worth your/the community's worthwhile! Not to mention, get a Dreamcast! 😁
Thanks for subscribing! I'd have to say Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate, Jade Empire and Spiderman 2. I know Spiderman 2 isn't an exclusive but it's so much slicker looking than the Ps2 version with better textures etc, which makes all the difference with an already visually compromised sandbox game. How about you man?
@ZapataZim_ ninja gaiden counter-strike fable. Splinter cell is definitely up there but that got ported later on. First splinter cell was cool af. Also I love halo haha
I remember my first Xbox. I played The Bard’s Tale and absolutely raged at the bullshit tower gauntlet at the very end of the game, just before the very final boss, and curbstomped that black plastic bitch. Felt cathartic. Then I replaced it with another unit that I still have to this day, though it’s unfortunately dying due to capacitor breakdown.
Wicked bro. Good to see a fellow Kiwi on here - I've just subscribed to your channel - You can never go wrong with a bit of San Andreas 👍@@BmxGuyFromNZ
@@ZapataZim_ yooo harrd out bro hahaha i plan on making more random videos in the near future. Ive recently acquired some software to mess with some games in the stupidest way on the consoles
Treasure when i chose to return and finish the vid. Silent Hill 2 my FIRST ever game I purchased. Stuck in my head after an Xplay review. Guess my first ever console. The store handed me Turok with it. Owned Halo 2, beat Halo 1 and its superior campaign. Nice if you named the sliver you showed, but I recognize anywhere. DOA Volleyball let me play custom tracks. Should have shoehorned a 4 player. DEAD OR ALIVE XTREME - TROPICAL BLUE is my novella you can google. Buying games as BC a blessing. Till next time wonder down under.
I do believe if Xbox had a prior generation to break into the market then it probably would have at least rivalled the PS2. Always been a PlayStation person but the Xbox was amazing to have so many unique titles straight off the bat and purely noticing that you could have about double the number of AI bots on James Bond Nightfire Multiplayer was enough for kid brain to know it was a powerful bit of kit.
mine still works, its never been open. im sick of people telling me i need to open it and change the clock battery from leaking. theyve been saying it for years.. im sure it already leaked and guess what. its fine. its all original. its awesome.. and dont tell me its going to break because I dont believe you. my 360 died but the O.G. keeps goin!
XBOX's library has held up great! Lot of cool exclusives, Jet Set Radio Future, Ootogi 1 and 2, Panzer Dragoon, Breakdown, DOA3, DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball, and cool versions of a lot of the classics like Onimusha, Fatal Frame 2, Silent Hill 2... i played a ton of Morrowind on xbox, etc XBOX's only problem is that it's up against what? the greatest library ever? The ps2's library is huge! It's probably three times bigger than Xbox's at least, probably four or five times bigger!
I still have a couple soft modded ones with big hard drives as well as a modded PS2 Fat with a hard drive. I will say that the ONLY thing the PS2 can do better is play DVD's. That's it. But, add the DVD kit to the Xbox and that's solved. When it comes to emulation, the Xbox is king.

Wicked man, there's nothing better than a room solely dedicated to movies and games, especially when it includes the original Xbox 😎👍
when it came out it was a beast, no console competed with the graphic and cpu power, and above all, a freaking hard disk, meaning no more memory cards
I couldn't agree more 👍 It was way ahead of the game (no pun intended).
I just wish the power had been better utilized. Multiplats only looked marginally better, due to PS2 being the default dev console.
Is the 1:00 song from an xbox game?? I remember it from somewhere I can't put my finger on it 🤔
Yep! It's the main theme to Fuzion Frenzy 😎
@@ZapataZim_ I thought it was but all the clips I found were of another fusion frenzy song, finally found it on a playlist titled none other than "Fusion Frenzy - Fusion Frenzy".. of course. lol Now I'm trying to figure out what part of the game that version of the song plays I'll have to get the game out sometime! Had to have had more XBOX games than any other console people that missed on original XBOX really don't know what they missed out on
@@Shoxpyre It plays in the main menu when you're selecting your game type and character 😊 Heck yeah go for it, it's such a great game 🤟 I whole heartedly agree!
Bro you've got my vote I've subscribed. Love how the Aussies word things. You need to do, similar videos for the other consoles PS2 Wii Gamecube and Dreamcast now
It is I THE 715th Subscriber! keep up the great work
Still play my xbox and in my eyes, xbox won the 6th gen even though i had a ps2 and gamecube at the time of release, i wouldve traded both for the xbox.
I've just jumped on board and subscribed to you 😁😎
Who else watching this in 2024 with there Original Xbox on there shelf
The original xbox looks so futuristic!
My cousin's were big into Sega and right when I got old enough to buy my first console, the dreamcast died. My cousin had an Xbox though and after playing halo the first time I became a rabid Xbox fan. There are so many amazing hidden gems on Xbox and it is cheaper to collect for than most other systems
good stuff mate. keep making content
Thanks a lot! I certainly will 😊
Next MVG maybe, he's aussie too right? Do more of the retrospectives. From what I can tell the YT algo like the word retrospective. Plus some emulation content and hardware modding of older consoles and I'll def turn on the alarm button @@ZapataZim_
That was class 👍🏻 keep em coming
Who else played jet set radio to death
I got my Xbox on July 3rd, 2005 as an early birthday present. It was actually my cousin's birthday that day and we quickly got set up in Halo 2 LAN parties. Im currently planning a LAN party for our 20th anniversary (of Halo 2) next year.
U remember NFL fever mane that game was before it's time
I was born in 94, so this is my childhood!
Very cool! As cool as it would be, I hope the day doesn't ever come where you're required to open those gems 😆
You need to replace the clock capacitor on the xbox before it leaks out and ruins the board
Good video bud!
Rock on my dude, you got this ❤🤟
I have a 360 with a 4k upscaler just to play my collection of BC original xbox games. SO many great gems from that era, my favorite for sure!
Dunno if anyone else mentioned it, but the Maria episode of SH2 was also released on the greatest hits/directors cut version of SH2 on PS2.
Agreed!!! The PS2 had great longevity and expansive library. But the Xbox graphics and power were out of this world
Upgrading to Original Xbox ports is a game changer!
Days when there's no digitals, no online requirement and no installer on disc ......but today young fart like that ....they own nothing and they happy
#xbox4life 😎💚🤘🏽🎮
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it 😀Niice, great to hear you're a devout Xbox gamer 👍👍👍😎
12:59 i never had any of these issues either. The only reason I don't have an OG Xbox today is because my uncle stole it and pawned it in 08'. I had it from basically right after it came out until the summer after I graduated high school.
Good shit keep em coming
Thanks! I sure will 🤟
I got my Xbox after my cousin upgraded to the 360.
"Who's dumb@ss ideas was this

I owned 4 throughout it's lifecycle and just have the crystal xbox now. I recently started up san andreas for old times sake and got an ear full of the cringy custom soundtrack that i made consisting of late 90's early 2000's dance, techno, pop and "whatever the hell i was on at the time" music.
Awesome stuff, the Crystal version looks amazing. Haha that must have been a heck of a throwback 🤣San Andreas rocks🤘I have fond memories with even little parts of it like riding a Freeway through Bone County with Free Bird or White Wedding playing 😃
Great bit of nostalgia thx
Awesome content. Please, do more❤❤❤
Thanks a lot! 😊 There will certainly be more coming so stay tuned!
Tom Clancy games worked better on Xboxes. Ghost Recon 2 is basically an exclusive as well, when one compares the xbox version with the PS2.
I loved Fable, epic game! I also chipped mine so I could use it as a media centre, down side was it being banned from XBOX live :(
Yes you can never go wrong with Fable 😎 It's what got me to give RPGs a chance as I wasn't a fan of them prior. Dam that's a bit of a harsh tradeoff 😆
That was a great video
I had a Thompson drive fail in a 1.1 version that I bought new after ripping nearly evert game they had at Blockbuster and that was an easy fix with a used drive off of Ebay. Then I had my used 1.6 die recently when it needed 5 capacitors around the CPU replaced, but that was VERY easy to repair. Other than that, pretty bulletproof systems!
Haha I suppose that's what can happen after a high volume of such activity 😆
Glad you didn't have any trouble repairing the CPU on your later one 👍Yep they certainly are!
What are your favorite ogxbox games?
I got my first xbox in 2002 was awesome
🤘🎮🍻 One of my favorite gaming consoles of all time!
Heck yeah 🤟 Yours and mine both 😎
When GTA trilogy came out on Xbox the cars had custom rims.
Yes I loved Middle of On'Er

I do believe if Xbox had a prior generation to break into the market then it probably would have at least rivalled the PS2. Always been a PlayStation person but the Xbox was amazing to have so many unique titles straight off the bat and purely noticing that you could have about double the number of AI bots on James Bond Nightfire Multiplayer was enough for kid brain to know it was a powerful bit of kit.
nicee.
The only reason why mortal kombat deception is more expensive on the Nintendo game Cube. Cause you get extra characters.
mine still works, its never been open. im sick of people telling me i need to open it and change the clock battery from leaking. theyve been saying it for years.. im sure it already leaked and guess what. its fine. its all original. its awesome.. and dont tell me its going to break because I dont believe you. my 360 died but the O.G. keeps goin!
Glad to hear yours is still going strong!🤙
7:27 lmaoo I almost died
I still have a couple soft modded ones with big hard drives as well as a modded PS2 Fat with a hard drive. I will say that the ONLY thing the PS2 can do better is play DVD's. That's it. But, add the DVD kit to the Xbox and that's solved. When it comes to emulation, the Xbox is king.
Awesome man, what size hard drive are you running on the Ps2? Curious as to how many games you've got on it?
I whole heartedly agree 👍
