Even please put a coolant reroute on the car the Miatas keep the first two cylinder are cool, but the rear cylinders usually overheat, especially with a turbo! Love the content I’m glad you back!

The Miata cooling system is kinda jank. Coolant enters the block at the front and leaves like 6 inches away. The back of 1.6/1.8L blocks can have issues on piston 4 over heating once a turbo is in. She might not be in high performance but the turbo will inherently make more heat. Stock rad and cooling setup might struggle on hot days especially in Texas.
Oh man Jeryn’s gonna love the turbo. Turbo miatas look so fun everytime i see one. She’s gonna be addicted to the boosty noises haha.

Well said cause life goes by so quickly...I'm 63yrs young and I really don't know where at least half of my life went. I spent most of my life tinkering on automobiles from days gone by but the newer they got the dummer I've gotten lol, cause the computerized stuff is way beyond my knowledge. I would highly recommend a oil/air separator with the stock PCV system and run the breather to a catch can or another oil/ air separator depending on your setup for stock turbo application.
I would highly recommend a tune lmao. Ill give the car a week before it blows up untuned

For boosted Miata’s you for sure want injectors/fuel pump and a good ecu like a megasquirt since they’re easy to tune on and every tuner I’ve met knows the software

@@shannacollins4741 Ms3pnp or even the ms2 is a huge win when it comes to boosted Miata’s, there’s a reason you see everyone running megasquirt for Miata’s haha I do know one singular person that runs link on there’s but haven’t heard anything about it being better.
@@ayyygordo7484 link ecus are a full stand alone unit megasquirts are shit ! I've seen so many Miata owners on UA-cam talking about megasquirts being bad and not using them anymore! What kind of ecu does Taylor Ray run on his Miata? What kind of ecu does Ricer Miata use? Neither of them use MS anymore they use LINK ! If I'm so wrong ask anybody on here which they would rather use?
Definitely want to build a heat shield between brake booster and down pipe i build one on my miata and it helps keep the brakes cool

I bought an eBay turbo kit for my 1997 Civic coupe when it had the D15B in it and it lasted for 15k miles at 8-10 psi NO PROBLEM. Then I swapped in a B18B1 non-VTEC from a base model Integra and all I bought was a new log manifold, but I used the same turbo, and I even chopped up and reused the 3" downpipe with the help of my flux-core welder. That eBay turbo went on to make 412 whp at 18 psi with my freshly rebuilt, built head (BC cams and dual valve springs) and it never smoked or faltered. I sold it to a friend who boosted it over 25 psi on his first pass with it and he blew his engine up...but the turbo was still fine. I fully built a LSVTEC and put a Turbonetics on it and it went on to make 709 whp at 34 psi. That was my baby, and I was forced to part ways with her. 😢😢😢

You should definitely get her to try some simulator driving like assetto corsa or dirt rally! :) It really helped me learn how the car behaves when I was new into it
Why did you take high pressure oil from far side when there’s a high pressure right next to the turbo off exhaust side of the block?
Because it's a 1.8 and some blocks don't have that port

advance ignition timing to 14° by moving the CAS (Cam Angle Sensor) and jumping the TEN to GND in the OBD box. if you give it a little more fuel like that it shouldn’t cut! i have a miata of my own and 14° is even kinda rich for my NA motor.
This is bad advice. Needs a standalone and good tune. With more timing on stock ecu you can easily get detonation

I did not realize that ebay turbo for the civic was three years ago. Thats what made me subscribe and now I realize im getting older.
Some oil has dripped onto the exhaust and it burning the oil and creating fumes and it has a boost leak
I thought those had either oil feed or drain ports already on the block?

Evan, 2 things. You probably already know it. But the fan you left off only turns on when the a/c is on, unless you wired them together. Also, plz put a catch can on the port coming out of the valve cover as it is an open breather for the pcv system and will spit oil out of it onto the turbo. I've got a turbo miata for experience. Luv u

Evan! Love the videos. I know obviously this is pretty expensive, but have you though about pouring some more concrete? Maybe just for a little skid pad, more parking and a little more room to test cars like you did with the miat in the drive way. Again expensive, but it might be nice to have, and cool to see.
