This is the first detailing video I’ve waited on to be uploaded. So happy to see humblemechanic/charles. Been watching both channels for what might be a decade now.
As a Gti owner, it’s so satisfying to see your car go under this kind of transformation. A deep clean, performance parts, and having Larry and Charles and IE be the dudes to have a hand in it is just amazing to watch. Thank you for this! And congrats to the owners!
I love seeing something like this just bringing the car community together with some guys trying to do something cool for someone just because they enjoy it.
A Tornado Red MkV GTI was my first VW and it's so special to see a Fahrenheit restored to this degree. I love this generation of GTI so much, I'm so glad this one is back on the road.
It was so nice to speak with you Larry. No matter how short the conversation is. You give great advice. Thank you for the advice on my Mustang. I get paid next week and need to put in a new order of digest, shag and titan 12
6:50 Drawing a frowny face in the soap then saying "That's Larry." Immediately cuts to a shot of Larry making that same face. I guess that's why he didn't deny it lol
Larry, love this man. This is what we are supposed to do. Look out for each other and when possible extend a helping hand. Really love this episode Larry. Well done man. Pete St. John Clovis, CA
That's no doubt the wildest transformation of this decade, I LOVE IT! Even the worst looking car has a chance, both your and Charles' hands are golden, Larry!
What a Transformation !!!!! And I'd have to Say, I've "Never" seen anyone Spray a Cleaner solution on a Car Stereo Speaker and Scrub it with a Brush???? Did the Stereo System Work and actually make Sound??? The car came out Extremely Nice, I Like the Tires and Wheels, and that one off Valve Cover was an Extremely Nice Touch!! Great Job L....
I'm jealous of that valve cover just because of how simple it looks. I have a 2018 Jetta with a leaky valve cover gasket, and since the lovely engineers over at VW decided to attach the cams to the valve cover, every mechanic wants around $900-$1k to fix it. I'd love to swap engines with this vehicle.
This is just one of the best resurrections! Wow, there are literally no words. A three hour journey for the seats and carpeting, well it was just meant to be. I assume those are the actual seats and carpeting for this particular model VW? Colors? I forgot, was that clear coat coming off when polishing?
Put white vinegar down the sunroof drain lines. Helps prevent mold growth that clogs the lines and won't degrade the plastic. Same as the drain line for your home A/C system.
That sun roof drain thing is a major problem on Lexus Rx 330s and 350s That's why I will never buy one. Sometimes the entire interior can fill up with water.
Desert use only, even after cleaning. Refurbished flooded cars should not be driven on moisty ambient... it takes one spore go in the wrong lung and you're going to be screwed though... moisture condensation from the AC will make it regrow on the vents, cabin filter should be hepa or carbon only, no paper pollen/dust only ones...
4:10 this is exactly why it infuriates me when so many of these channels have been built up around “cleaning the most disgusting car in the world” because all I can think to myself is the near infinite cracks and crevices and pours in the foam are compromised so even if it looks clean, it’s still a hazard.
This is a really good and professional car detailing job! But the seats with holes definitely need to be replaced! The upholstery is pretty dense, and there's definitely mold left in there. You can't get that out of foam rubber that's that dense. Great work 👍
@@Nick210 if only the sodium chloride would've been enough the neutralize the mold, they wouldn't have taken out the interior to clean it properly. Think.
@@TehAlekzi your comment makes no sense, should they have just used the tablets and left the car as is? OBVIOUSLY they removed the interior to remove the mold and the tablets will neutralize the mold in places they can’t get to. Christ.
If water gets into the foam from underneath you can get mold, which is likely what happened after being in a hurricane. Otherwise, leather is very durable and moisture resistant when intact
I know you're doing your best to protect yourself during the cleaning process. Would it be safer to disassemble it outside so you limit how many mold spores are let loose in the studio?
Using the term black mold loosely. It may not necessarily be Stachybotrys. It’s likely Penicillium or Aspergillus. A lot of mold appears black but until it’s tested there’s no telling even by the most experienced by the naked eye.
It's certainly a good save as long as it's viewed with the jaundiced eye it deserves, but even on Charles' channel this car was an abused POS by his own assessment, and that was before the flood total. Because this was a DIY project, one wonders if the car averted a salvage title, and then one wonders how it might be misrepresented in a future sale, if even unintentionally.
This was a super gross, but still fun projects. Thank you sir!!!
two of my fav automotive youtubers in one vid was great while i cleaned my s4 and house today. cheers🙌🏼
Larry and Humble mechanic should launch a new age Wheeler Dealers show. Larry does the restoration, Humble does the mechanical work
That would be fun!
Larry + elbow grease + AMMO = excellence. Great work!

AMMO NYC and HumbleMechanic making the impossible, possible. Extraordinary 👌
Amazing renovation as always Larry! Those Integrated Engineering parts are beautiful. Total transformation!
Few episodes has brought me as much joy as this one, Good job guys.
Thank you!

I’m so glad you saved it you have no idea. More of this!

Always happy to help enjoy the detail!
What a save! Amazing work guys
Wow! that's probably the worst case of mold I've seen in a car. Been detailing for 13 years that's incredible.
Amazing rehab! Always great to see a car saved from the crusher.
Amazing !!! You folks are blessed with magic touches and big hearts. Absolutely love it and may God bless you all - best regards from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Thanks for the kind words!
What a great surprise- two of my favorite UA-camrs and automotive geniuses working together. Love it.
Thanks, appreciate you watching!
ending made me cry idc bless u all

Always excited to see another post from AMMO NYC, Best detailing videos on youtube.
This came out better than I thought, with all the clear peeling off.
As always Larry works his magic!!
That without a doubt was the worst disaster ( IMHO) you’ve worked on. I’d call it a Lazarus project. Interior and exterior were literally dead.
The worst disaster was their last video with the dead mice. They're way more dangerous than mold! But this situation is definitely serious too.
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this video to drop
That's no doubt the wildest transformation of this decade, I LOVE IT! Even the worst looking car has a chance, both your and Charles' hands are golden, Larry!
Great work Larry plus all the mechanics, the Golf looked amazing post transformation 😍
Thanks 👍
Wow, what a transformation, so cool to see your Collab with humble mechanic longtime viewer of your channel. Thanks for all your inspiration.
You bet!
i love this car, every golf/polo are my favorites (and the beetle too of course). this has such an incredible paint, in contrast with black is amazing
What a great collaboration!!
I still want that air diffuser! Come on Larry, bring that to market!!
Absolutely AMAZING results. 🤘🏻🔨😎
This channel and your products are the absolute best!
Two of my favorite channels come together. Just no Paul install option on a collectors VW hmmm. Enjoyed this collab.
Amazing collaboration I love both of yall, great job 💙
Appreciate that!
I've been WAITING to see this driving bio hazard detailed man. Awesome!
I owned a 2007 MK5 gti in candy white - seeing the interior of this car brought back so many memories - well done guys
As a GTI owner, this was both difficult and very satisfying to watch. Another great detail, Larry!
Love it....our Dutch pride.... Vredestein Tyres
Crazy to see my two favorite UA-camrs in one video :)
What an amazing ending! Great job!!!!
Good job AMMO,keep up the good work.💯
Great collaboration Larry! Amazing video!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
I detailed for years back in high school and still do occasionally nowadays. I'm very thankful nothing like this has ever rolled up.

Everything worked great! New owners will be continuing the project now that it’s safe.
Thanks for the info on the sodium chloride tabs Larry. That going to be a great help for some mold in my house!
What an absolute beauty! What you guys have done bringing this car back to life is incredible! Thank you for sharing it with us
awesome to see Charles here. Great Sunday morning

Good tip!

fire music choice during detailing montage
Fantastic video! I love when the channels I follow crossover. It’s like when Jessica Fletcher showed up on Magnum PI.
The MK5 GTI is genuinely ageing so nicely! After seeing this video defenitly want to own one some day in the near future.
Outdid yourself again Larry, kudos brother 👏
This car must’ve been a disaster, I realized halfway through the video that you hadn’t even started paintwork yet😂
Happy birthday Larry
I hope you didn’t get sick and Stay safe
Just what I needed Charles and Larry doing a car together
The VW love is real. Great car, story, and vid
Charles beard filtered 99.8% of all those mold particles. 😊
PPE for the win
Really amazing camera work !
What a collab! Great episode!!

this is how you show a car, great exit
I really like some of the synth music you added would be nice if when you put music it shows the name in the corner for a sec or something
4:10 this is exactly why it infuriates me when so many of these channels have been built up around “cleaning the most disgusting car in the world” because all I can think to myself is the near infinite cracks and crevices and pours in the foam are compromised so even if it looks clean, it’s still a hazard.
Larry! Would love to get a chance to learn from you if you're ever at the Chester County Airport again!
at what point do you just set it on fire? :D
This is a really good and professional car detailing job! But the seats with holes definitely need to be replaced! The upholstery is pretty dense, and there's definitely mold left in there. You can't get that out of foam rubber that's that dense. Great work 👍
We did replace the seats, panels, insulation, and parts as necessary. New owners are stoked and will continue working on the vehicle now it’s safe!
@@AMMO-NYC That's the main thing! You gave the car a second life! I wonder why they left it in the woods, though; it's a good car.
My two favorite VW’s were the Gia and the GTI. Best looking
The best GOLF GTI! Mk5 🔥
Lol nah
Now the real question is. Is this worse than the Cessna from a few years ago?
awesome!
the fact that this is even possible to fix is mind blowing to me
Can you make the info boxes larger font, as they're tiny on mobile phones. ❤
Charles: "I brought you the most disgusting, mould ridden health hazard of a car. It could defeat you."
Larry: Hold my frothé.
Looks like a normal GTI. I say its cleaner than most Jettas.
That was the worst car ever!! Great gesture for giving it away! 👍
How is that car any good electronically after being emersed in water?
There’s two kinds of sun roofs. Those chat are leaking…and those that will leak. 🤪😜
Why aren’t all the seats contaminated and needing to go?
Cause the rears weren’t cracked leather allowing the mould to grown into the cushion
Well it looks great the only thing that you missed is a Vinal Jack O Lantern face on the hood.
Should have kept the original wheel design
And, imho, put on the black valve cover! Just my two cents
The amount of mold was wild, I hope you checked that the dashboard wasn't a jungle underneath also?
That was the point of the sodium chloride. Listen.
Christ.
@@Nick210 But they didn't show in the video that they removed the dash. Still clueless what I'm talking about?
so is this like a sponsored videos ? the shots are amazing
BOOM
so mold cant go inside the seat when the leather is intact? seems fishy to me^^
If water gets into the foam from underneath you can get mold, which is likely what happened after being in a hurricane. Otherwise, leather is very durable and moisture resistant when intact
I know you're doing your best to protect yourself during the cleaning process. Would it be safer to disassemble it outside so you limit how many mold spores are let loose in the studio?
Most of the parts had to be transported inside the car. We took everything outside for cleaning.
Larry, I have to ask what sunglasses do you have?!
I hope the new owner knows this is a hurricane car.
Yeah... the "hurricane" did that. Definitely wasn't sitting for 10 years.
Using the term black mold loosely. It may not necessarily be Stachybotrys. It’s likely Penicillium or Aspergillus. A lot of mold appears black but until it’s tested there’s no telling even by the most experienced by the naked eye.
Beautiful result, but I’d want better seats and a new clearcoat on that hood and roof
Thank you, we only had a couple days so the priority was making sure the car was safe.
I'm always worried about the electronics whenever the interiour ist cleaned with liquids.
Where do you have to be careful when apllying i.e. soap?
Why would you even clean the other seats after seeing the inside of the other one?
Maybe so they could have a complete car for the reveal? 🤦🏼♂️
We replaced the seats later in the video.
@@Nick210 so sorry for asking
Holy crap
