Can't wait to try recording with this thing, been excited since they teased it at NAM like a year ago. Gamechangers indeed, and this seems like their most ambitious pedal yet!
The gamechanger guys are so creative! I don't see why they get called gimmicky so often when they're just pushing the boundaries of old ideas in really creative ways!
Because there are always Luddites in the world. I’m sure people said the same, “gimmick”, for every effect that didn’t exist previously. Lack of imagination runs rampant.
They are creative but not every pedal has been a success because of that. Thats why they get called gimmicky. Excited to see what they do in the future but none of there stuff is for me yet.
Seriously. People complain when they get “another tube screamer or klon” but then when they get something new, they also complain. Pedal nerds are insufferable sometimes.
It's neither gimmick nor innovation it's a form-factor adapted to 9V pedals. The tech has has been around for 80+ years. All the stuff we get is just trickle-down tech that is "more" of the same, but imbued over decades with higher efficiency in mass quantities of scale due to more minds tending to it.
Thanks for this…I have a large board made up of pedals that make weird noises that I use for experimental/avant-garde music and I think this thing is a perfect fit! I knew I could trust the “King of Spring” to really dig into the oddity. 🏄🎸
@@60CycleHumcast There is a Perfect Circuit video of this on a 0-coast, but I wish they'd done some drum machines and pluckier more conventional synth sounds too.
Eh, I don’t care for reverb on synths unless it’s a pad. Synths just don’t need many effects if at all do to how powerful sound design is on your basic analog/subtractive synth. If we need growling Harmonics we will just sync an oscillator to another and route an envelope or lfo to the synced oscillator’s pitch which sweeps a metric F*** ton of increased harmonics. However sync does pair well with either a flanger or phaser for two different growls to cut through the band.

I wonder what he used. I was chatting with someone about Jah Wobble's bass tone earlier this morning, weird. and then I found out Dexter sings in a goth electro-synth band called Princess Goes To The Butterfly Museum.
Very good presentation of the light pedal. I have been trying to convince myself that this is not a gas situation. Your enthusiastic wonder was the tipping point that ultimately just won me over. That said, I'm still not sure that I really need this thing, but I am obsessed and intrigued enough to just go for it. I never seen your channel before but good job 🙂 Cheers,
This is one of the sickest and best Reverbs i ever listened to and i own a ton of Reverb pedals... If you fiddle a bit you can get some decent Surf sounds too!
The optical sound is kinda "ringmod" like, and synthy. Not sure I would use it on clean sounds ever, but with this going into wild delays and reverbs or as part of a wet dry rig where this effect is upstream of a big room reverb, I would love it.
Its the drive that is doing that. It boosts the level going into the springtank and makes the sound louder and more resonant/metallic sounding. Dude had it dimed the whole video for some reason, it sounds much more "natural" with the drive down.
Haha a little too metallic to my taste due to the shorter springs I think. Kind of sounds like a metallic spiral staircase in the hallway of an apartment building or something 😆 Kind of fun. And interesting about the pickup thing, which makes a lot of sense actually. But I love to experiment, and right now I'm thinking how it would sound with some sort of clipping pedal after it. Maybe a fuzz could be fun. I'm thinking that the metallic and feedbacky sound could benefit from it maybe 😄 I really like how they gave a spring reverb versatilty and options similar to a modern algoritmic reverb, but in its own way. The gate is like adjustment for the decay before the mid position. And after it's like the adjustment for pre-delay. Also the pickups makes sense on a spring reverb. Why haven't that been done before? (Or has it?). Quite interesting. I might actually get one at some point to be honest 😅
I bought two for stereo L/R channels for my Oberheim OB-X8 mainly for the light show! This should get interesting with each channel doing its own thing. X8 has some clever panning options so imagine that side to side. If you think about an analog synth the entire thing is a gimmick making some fantastic noises. This should be a good pairing.
60 cycle hum can you make another video trying to make this pedal sound just like a reverb tank getting drippy springy surf reverb sounds or it can't do that? I like a good drip. The pedal sounds great to get all different types of other reverb sounds but it can't get that surfy drippy spring reverb it seems
I'd be so scared to take this on stage lol. Its such a luxurious reverb pedal I feel like a theif could smell that the second they were within 15 feet of it
Hi, thanks for this video ! I was thinking of taking the Element from Anadounds! But now that there is this Light Pedal, it's hard to make a choice! The Gamechanger, for the same price, seems to have a lot more possibilities! Even if these possibilities are not all interesting for me! But you who have been able to test both, could you tell me if, in spring position only, the Gamechanger is as good as the Anasounds? Thank you in advance.
This is kinda cool. But I don’t see a place on a pedalboard for it as a performance tool as it’s a bit busy. I can definitely see a use for it in recording though.
Duuuuuude... I knew of all people out there, you'd take this pedal to Surf-Town and Spaghetti Western Hell and back! Great job on explaining how this thing works... and... what it does that makes this thing super unique. Only thing I hear people wishing it could do is save presets... but then it would have to be digital, and this thing is far from a digital effect! Such a cool device... and happy to say, I finally own one! Thanks for a cool demo, man! 😎🤘🎸⚡️🎛
Ryan, First kid on the block with the review of this 👍 I want one but need to play with one for a few hours before I spring over £300 on one. Do you have there Synth pedal ?
Hmmmm...not overly a fan in terms of overall usefulness. However, if we are talking having some fun for a bit then sure I dig it. I do think it would soon become rather tiresome. But, great to see something fairly unique, that's not just a tweak of some older circuit. 😎
I dont care that its $250, that spring reverb is one of the best i have heard, plus the gates, plus the optical reverb, plus the ‘driven’ sound, plus that SWEEP effect. I am certainly gonna get one. At first it was kinda like this looks sick i might get it and now its fully i am going to buy one
@Nilly Sigger nah its not, but whatever you are buying its a lot of money considering you could probably get a spring reverb for £150 or so. But the fact it looks super cool and has all those other effects makes it worth it
It’s such a different sound then say a washed out fender reverb tank or a little Lanilei reverb, and that’s a huge downside but it is something different. Part of me hates the thing (mostly because it was $300 and I still wish I could do a typical spring reverb sound) but there’s also many things to experiment about it which is cool
I don't really understand, its picking up the light produced from the guitar center? How does it make a reverb sound? The speed of light being what it is, I would think the signal would die out even if did reflect for a while, it would happen nearly instantly.
an infrared light is shining across/through the springs, an optical sensor on the other side picks up the fluctuations and translates them into an electric signal.
its not a traditional spring reverb at all. this is an experimental reverb for folks that want to make new and unique sounds. I tried to make that clear in the video.
This is so dumb, such a gimmick ... Ok, is pretty cool, I want one.
I am weak. Help me. Stop! the! GAS!
it looks wild and I think my bank account is gonna regret this later in the month
🤣🤣🤣
This was literally my 3 step thought process. I’ve now ordered one
just the opposite, I came here wanting to like it, ended thinking it´s dumb and such a gimmick
Doesn’t get drippy, but it definitely gets trippy.
Most interesting reverb in the past decade.

Pretty gosh darn rad! This is a reverb "effects" pedal. I could make parts with this all day on so many instruments.
The Cylon Centurian verb. Well done. Chris Buck absolutely rocked this thing.
I would really like to mess around with this pedal. It looks like fun.

Great looped jam Ryan. I listened to it again after watching the features.
Wow. I think I'm gonna need to save up for one of these. Imagine a modern spaghetti western with this on the guitar tracks.
Imagine using this for movie sound effects, probably horror/suspense movies! Sounds creepy like that

A reverb revolution. Just in time for Spring. This thing is beautiful mad science. You could build an album around this pedal.
That opening song was dope!
Kind of surprised this doesn’t have a stereo out, but I still want it! Great song at the beginning. Great demonstration.
Very neat idea, it seems to have an inherent resonant frequency that I just don't dig at all
The kinda agree. I wonder if it’s something you could filter out with twist of the knobs. But at its bones I agree.
Its the drive that is doing that. It boosts the level going into the springtank and makes the sound louder and more resonant/metallic sounding.

Best demo of this pedal (I watched a few before this). Thanks for giving good explanations and going in depth. Amazing sound possibilities here.
Thank you.
If I can hear fuzz sound via this pedal, it's so great.
I loved the jam of the beginning bro, you have a new song right there
I wonder if stage rumbling is enough to set off the internal springs for that "boing" efffect?
