    BTW, i shouldve included this in the video, but just to point out: there are a few things that are normal (and therefore right-wing), that are nonetheless bad. there's also many things that are not normal, that are also good! but most normal things are good (that's why they're normal), and the left is making a very bad mistake ceding all of those things to the right.

    • @DroppedBass
      @DroppedBass Місяць тому +9

      "Most normal things are good (that's why they're normal)", that's a naturalistic fallacy. Natural and cultural selection doesn't select for traits that are "good", they blindly select for things that in the immediate term lead to the perpetuation of the population and/or culture. Our way of living isn't sustainable, we are currently driving ourselves to extinction, so we MUST break apart from what we hold dear in our tradition.

      We HAVE broken apart from tradition, massively. This has lead to a delusional, unsustainable society that refuses to confront it's own problems. A progressive, anti-traditional society that marches forward regardless of it's flaws, blindly believing in false heroism and empty virtues.
      No, we don't need to break apart from what we hold dear in our tradition. We need to RETURN to good parts of the past, the things that worked, or die trying.

      In the hedonistic minds of people like Vaush, being monogamous means that you are forbidding your partner from enjoying life. By being a garden tool, you know. Cuz in his mind, that's what's good in life: sleeping with the largest amount of people you can.
      A lot of the ethos of progs boils down to pure Hedonism. It's the same logic that the childfree progs apply when they're making jokes about how peaceful their lives without children are. They can only see things from the perspective of how pleasurable it is for themselves.

      Being possessive can be a good thing. It can prevent the spread of disease (by not sharing personal items), sense of responsibility (for your own children vs someone else's), harmony (because you don't have to bicker over who gets to use the thing) and prosperity (working harder to own more things).
      My experience is that communally shared spaces/objects are nearly always treated as holding no value. They tend to get destroyed/mistreated. While personally owned space/objects are being assigned much higher value.

      Hello. I've seen videos by Marxists relating to this. They don't think that capitalism is old. Their argument is that the patriarchal family structure is a consequence of the development of agriculture. With ag, there came to be enough wealth that inheritance of the wealth came into being. This, for them, is the start of private property which is continued into and is an important pillar upholding modern capitalism. I'm not a fan of this view, but it is what is actually argued.

    • @Xfushion2
      @Xfushion2 Місяць тому +50

      Also polyamory historically has been a _patriarcal_ trend, back when it was commonplace it was pretty much always men with multiple wives, not the other way around and it was a high-class practice. It was done by fellas like Solomon, Gengis-Khan or Alexander the great. If you were a peseant you didn't get that perk. Even nowadays the few places where it's _normalized_ still follows that pattern.
      So how is polyamory both anti-capitalist but also feminist is beyond me. In current day America polyamory is a red herring, the vast majority of time what happens is that either or both are just looking to _trade up_ while not losing the benefits of their current relationship.
      Just look at Destiny's ex wife, once she found a guy she liked more she dumped him and suddenly she's exclusive with the new guy.

    I read something a long time ago. If you see a sidewalk and think, "I'm not going to let that sidewalk tell me where to walk", and thus you walk in the grass next to the sidewalk, you are still letting the sidewalk determine where you walk. If your worldview is simply "I'm not going to be right-wing", then all someone has to do to manipulate you is convince you that something normal, something healthy, something good for you is right-wing. You have no morals or values of your own other than "not that", so whoever defines what "that" is controls you.

      Oh, I think this is actually a really good call out. I feel like the left has made it so that being seen as right wing is so evil, you need to do anything possible to avoid it. But if they shift the goalposts, rather than you staying steadfast in your beliefs, you must continue to change them to avoid becoming right leaning, or else you risk being on of the evils you've been fighting against.
      I mean, look at people like Arielle Sarcella - I would personally consider her very, very liberal, and in turn, very leftist by turn of the century metrics. Now she's had to identify as right leaning because of the Overton window. Unfortunately, many people don't make the change, or at least start leaving 'leftism' behind because of the severe backlash.
      For example, I have a friend who's leftist and I know is kind of reasonable, but she'll argue identity politics all the time because she cannot be counterculture. However, half of our game group is either conservative or moderate, so she does at least tolerate opinions against the grain, and will even agree with them, but she always has to make sure she ends on the leftist side of the goal post.

      Everyone NATURALLY practices eugenics anyway. You’re short? You might prefer a taller partner to get some extra height for your kids.
      You’re an Argentinian male and so like most of them, you don’t have balanced calf muscles? You try for a wife from somewhere further north to improve your kid’s appearance in shorts.
      You have a big nose? You look for a partner with a smaller snoz
      Eugenics is just nature in action, trying to improve a species a generation at a time.

      I partly disagree. Yes, many of the current standards are liberal, so a liberal wants to conserve them. That being said, liberalism is not about liberating the norm, it's about letting freedom and incentives structure society rather than use force. Progressives want to coercively enforce change to everyone, disregarding optimality, feasibility and the will of the governed, which is deeply illiberal. The relationship the Reds and Blues had with Tex was just this: “oh fuck she’s here to kick our asses again”, while their relationship with Carolina is more complex than I can even describe because she actually has unique dynamics with different characters.
      I almost always bring up this show in sociopolitical discussions, especially the 12th and 13th seasons because of how unbelievably relevant their central conflict, character arcs, worldbuilding, political implications, and everything are. Even the name of the show says both everything you need to know but also nothing at the same time, because it gets so much deeper than you (or I) would ever expect and the parallels to our world go beyond the titular Reds and Blues. Referencing this show is also one of the only ways I can talk without getting shadowbanned.

    I've been working the word "nominal" more into my vocabulary lately because of idiots attributing moral quality to the term "normal", despite how a lot of "normal" things are clearly bad, like divorce, freezing cold in the winter, or something something 13% something something 50% something something. "Normal" isn't a value judgment. It means that something is within reasonable statistical expectation. No more, no less.
    The left's mistake in this regard is that their hate of the right makes them hate the normal by extension, hence their supposed counterbalance in exalting the aberrant or anomalous as morally good. Just look how they get about the word "queer", which strictly speaking just means "weird". This is why they bellyache about the plight of minorities despite never arriving at the realization that the most exclusive minority is the individual. It's not about principle. It's about morally conflating strangeness with goodness. What the left fails to grasp is that "normal" isn't something the right _likes_ per se. Rather, because the normal is predictable, the right is able to factor in and compensate for the less savory parts of normality to the point of being able to not just endure normal conditions, but _thrive_ under them. This affinity for the normal isn't an affection any more than owning a space heater makes you _like_ the cold. (If anything, it suggests the opposite.) We learned to deal with it where we could, and we engineered solutions to expand the scope of things we could deal with.
    For more fun in this vein, compare the sociological definition of the word "tolerance" (accepting the differences of people who are dissimilar to you) and the _engineering_ definition of "tolerance" (the degree of abuse, imperfection, or attrition a system can endure before no longer being able to operate to acceptable standards). Or the sociological definition of "compromise" (a mutual agreement between two parties) versus the engineering definition of "compromise" (to make a system no longer able to perform its intended function). If that dichotomy doesn't just spell out the entire fundamental difference between the left and the right...

    For the first time in 20 years I am under a 120kg. I have a ways to go, I want to hit 90ish. But the feeling of loosing of losing that first 25kg is just great. Demonizing healthy living is nothing more than an admission on their part that they would rather see the rest of the world worse off than having to do the work themselves. It is a cover for bad behaviour

      Amen to that. The polyamory is the same. They just want to justify their own failures and desires and ignore the enormous social cost born by 99% of people who follow the same path. I can eat butter every day and feel fine. You do it and you have a heart attack at 35. We can’t pretend butter consumption, or alcoholism, drug addiction, Communist laziness, are virtues when they destroy most people. A calmer conservative view is safest. There is a reason the last days of Rome were their most debauched.

      Good for you, mate. You’ll get there. I myself lost 32 kilos so far to have health to move to a quiet country (Montenegro probably) and settle with my man, you know, living life, working remote, gardening in the spare time, eating wholefoods, having kids. My Gen X mom is still deluded that America or Anglosphere is worth moving to, in case of which I message her the news about insane people out of asylums every time. It’s a good circus to laugh at from across the world pointing finger but not the setting I would rather raise my kids. As centrist liberal as I am
