I’ve said this for over a decade.
Yes the definition of feminism is about equality, BUT if you look in the dictionary you’ll find that there are actually two definitions. One says it’s about equality between men and women. The other just says it’s about advocacy for women.
One definition is used to defend feminism while the other is what’s actually put into practice. You can guess which is which.

You can't be coddled and have full agency of your life all at the same time.

If she was the one to bring this up, you need to ask yourself: why did she do it?
Because this sounds like she was testing you, and when you failed the test, she attempted to shame you into submission.
Like many others have said, this isn't about the bear, or men, or about the issue itself. It is about them manipulating you to get a specific outcome. it is about making you wonder what did you do wrong, and how can you fix it for them. To turn you into their willing slave.
It is emotional blackmail, and any attempt of engaging with it honestly is doomed to fail, because there is no honesty here, only malice.

      why is it insulting, though?
there is a question being posed where men are being asked if they rather talk to a tree or a woman? Most of the men are choosing the tree. As a woman I dont find it insulting at all. I was thinking that maybe the reason I am not insulted is because I would essentially be insulted by "not being picked"... I might be disappointed if it were a man that I wanted to get to know, but it doesnt feel appropriate to be insulted...maybe even entitled. That might be what that woman you mentioned intended to express.

    • @MrMandude365
      @MrMandude365 Місяць тому +5

@@dnycebushton5008 Part of what makes it so insulting to me is that I don’t actually believe they’d pick the bear. It’s easy to SAY you’d pick the bear because it makes you out to be a victim, and a lot of people want to be one of those these days, but they wouldn’t ACTUALLY pick the bear. Like am I supposed to believe that if these women were at the zoo on a slow day, with no one else around, and they were checking out the bears, and they saw a random man approaching and no where else to go, that they’d jump in with the bears to avoid the guy? Obviously not. What if they had their kids with them? Would they throw their own kids in with the bears to escape the scary, scary man? Again, obviously not.
It’s obvious to me that the women who say they’d pick bear wouldn’t actually do it, so why are they saying they would? I think some of them are deeply hurt people who’ve had bad relationships with men and so they’re trying to say hurtful things to try and get back at men, but I think most of them are just trying to appear as a victim. We live in a culture that places a lot of value on being a victim, so they’re willing to abandon liberal values of individualism and throw men as a whole under the bus by calling us worse than a wild animal to score a few victim brownie points, and I think that’s pretty deplorable.
It seems insulting because it comes off as malicious. Like they’re only saying it to hurt men, or to advantage themselves at the expense of making men out to be monsters.
As for the woman vs tree thing, I think it’s a pretty dumb hypothetical, and I don’t think it’s comparable to the man vs bear question. Obvious a tree can’t do anything if you tell it your feelings, but a person can. Doesn’t matter if they’re a man or woman. So saying you’d rather tell your feelings to a tree over a person is nothing like saying half the human race is so savage and dangerous you’d rather encounter a wild bear. They’re not really comparable hypotheticals, but yeah I’d agree the guys trying to use it to dunk on women are dumb too.

Another issue is that when you suggest a solution to them being subjected to the predations of men - such as getting a gun, they immediately lose their minds because you expect the strong empowered women to have a bit of agency and take their own well-being into their own hands instead of relying on 3rd party that's rarely present to protect them in the moment they need it most to protect them.

I find it rather interesting that this trend comes immediately on the heels of the recent spate of articles, from women, bemoaning the fact that men are no longer approaching women or have interest in serious relationships. It's been a complaint for some time now - there are thousands of videos of attractive women complaining about not being able to get a date, or getting ghosted, and so on.
And now all of a sudden, there's a random trend coming out of nowhere attempting to paint all men as evil predators. The goal of which is presumably to manipulate men into attempting to change that (fake) perception by bending over backwards to get back in feminism's good graces. Like they ever were to begin with.
It's pretty transparent to me what this is, and I hope it's just as transparent to everyone else that this is a deceptive attempt at manipulating men to go back to idolizing women.

Just because a woman hates men doesn't mean she was abused by one. In fact, I'd argue that it's likely the minority of such women that were legitimately abused. Most simply had some bad interactions with men -- interactions where they were almost certainly just awful in -- and then they want to project it onto all men despite being half the problem -- if not the whole problem -- themselves.

This isn't really about women who don't know the danger of bears. Everyone knows bears are dangerous. Women say bear because the in-group woman thing to say is bear. Men are bad, dangerous, and scary - or at least portrayed as such.
This is less a factual statement of "I literally would choose a bear over a man in a survival situation," and more of an emotional statement of "I know all the other girls will say bear, so I'm saying bear to fit in."
It's like when you ask if Lizzo is a 10. Everyone says she is, but the instant you compare a woman TO Lizzo they all freak out. Even though they ALL say that Lizzo is a 10/10, they still view being compared to Lizzo as an insult.

There’s three things you should have addressed Dev:
1 - the woman who glasses someone in the eye and got away with it was only spared jail time, she didn’t get off Scott free. The judge made it clear that sentencing the mother to jail would have a worse impact on her child that on herself and it wasn’t right to punish the child for her mistakes, as long as she doesn’t re offend she won’t see jail.
2 - man vs bear is not a logical argument and you won’t get anywhere with women trying to frame it like it is. Women don’t care about statistics, it’s an emotional argument, it’s basically the same as the viral “would you love me if I was a worm?” , there is only one right answer to the question and it’s “say whatever the woman wants” and even then, she might still use it against you, because there’s no logic or reason, it’s a ploy born out of emotional immaturity. You could even call it “emotional warfare”
3 - I can’t take man vs bear seriously personally, but like you said when referring to the feminist at the tail end of the video, the message the women want to get across is that they are more worried irl about being raped by the men that surround them daily, even extending to family in some cases than they are worried about a bear attack. Not that they would actually rather be with a bear than with you or me. Note that I still think this is a cruel emotional manipulation tactic because also like you mentioned. If it was any other group “would you rather be in the forest with a bear or a black man” you’d get a different reaction.
What hurts me the most is seeing my friends posting about it on social media like they’re not talking about me and the men we mutually connect with. Being called a rapist at every turn is emotionally painful especially when it’s your so called friends saying it.

Modernity has forced out the individual man as protector and provider. Women are no longer in a situation where nature forces them to appreciate the good in man. While biology still teaches them instinctual fear of men. And they get offended when you tell them men are more likely to help than harm and most you have to fear is some cringe flirting. You're challenging foundational beliefs of women that men are dangerous.

    • @EntertheFray1
      @EntertheFray1 2 місяці тому +3

The topic of man vs bear is fundamentally about the sex fear crime paradox. That's what is underlying picking the bear. Statistically, men are the ones far more likely to be the victim of an attack or crime. Yet it is women that feel far more afraid of it happening to them. Hence the paradox. It's also well documented in academia, to the point it's been coined that term above. You can google it. So women are picking the bear, and using it as an expression to show their fear of being the victim of a crime by a man.
But feelings are all they are. Feeling more scared of being a victim, doesn't mean that those feelings are a reflection of reality. Men are going to pick men in this scenario if the question is asked of them, even despite the fact that men are almost twice as likely to be killed by another man compared to a woman. Because in the worst case scenario of both, you get attacked by the bear or the man. Well, if that's the case, the chances of surviving are always going to be significantly higher with the man. Both for men and women.
It is risk assessment, and the women who are being serious and just not full of misandry who pick the bear, are are showing they aren't capable of doing it because they are letting their feelings of fear choose what to pick, over which one is actually more risk-worthy.

Question is: if this is how these women think, why should any man bother and waste the time and energy of helping them with anything, or even attempting to be nice to them? If a person is so far gone to without joking, think such things that generally goes against reality about roughly half of the entire global population, they’re probably unsalvageable. It’s not even able to be justified with concepts like cold hard statistics because they’re speaking in terms of literally half of the entire species upon the entire globe. The lack of self-awareness upon these specific women that answering in such a way is astonishing.

he was gone before the guides could get guns
it carried him off into the dark ice
for the next hour or so they heard him screaming in the distance

No Dev, most of these feminists have not experienced abuse by men, not that would excuse their behaviour, but the way they behave towards men is not how people act towards a feared abuser. People that have endured abuse rarely engage with the subject publicly and they aren't confrontational, snide and dismissive.
It takes a lot of character to open up about your victimization, something these women clearly lack.
They are merely looking for someone to hate and feminism has offered them a target in men and post-hoc rationilization for their behaviour.

2nd wave feminism really is a genie that can't be put back in the bottle. The most unrealistic thing about the Handmaidens Tale was the idea that men would step up to fill the void left in the relationships between men and women. But that's nonsensical! Men have been unlimbered from their responsibility towards women. So now women have to take full responsibility for themselves.
The problem is, women undercut themselves before they had enough power and agency to truly stand alongside men as socioeconomic equals. Instead of using the patriarchal systems to climb higher on the ladder, they threw out the ladder before they climbed.
So now modern feminism is standing at the bottom of where the ladder used to be shouting at the men above them to bring another ladder. And men are universally saying "No. You asked us to stop patronizing you."
