    I'm 58 and post menopausal. I'm finding a 15-16 fasting window works GREAT for me. But I am close to my goal weight and am in good health.

    I started IF in January and before that I had horrible IBS and my gut health has so improved!! I couldn't be happier. As a bonus, I have lost almost 15 lbs too!! I have more energy and NEVER thought I could fast but it is the best...I used to eat 1st thing in the morning, small snacks, lunch, big dinner. Love my new life!!

      Same here! Gut health has 1000% improved and I only started with her detox last week. Don't have diagnosed IBS but have definitely had some gut problems.

    Hello Autumn, what I like about your Live sessions is that you know your stuff! You answer a lot of questions and explain so much. Been doing IF/AEN since November last year. Not all youtube nutritionists/dieticians do that. You’re awesome. Thank you so much. 👍😘🇨🇦

    Hi Autum. Looking for more information on balancing fat amount when eating healthy carbs for last meal/ dinner. You mentioned not mixing fat if eating carbs. I wasn’t clear on this and really need help as I believe myself to be carb sensitive.

    Why do you recommend a 16:8 fast rather than longer? I'm insulin resistant and very sensitive to carbs and I've read a longer fast is better for treating this.

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  2 роки тому +2

      It's entirely up to the individual circumstance. However, I have found that *many* people have difficulties getting all the protein needed to maintain muscle mass and metabolism with longer fasts. But I've also seen some thrive with a 20 hour fast and easily hit their protein needs. Just making sure that you adjust it to what works for you *realistically* to balance the perks of fasting AND eating is important.

    Hi Autumn, I'm doing Carnivore. I've lost 140 lbs in 17 months but can't drop any these days. 2 meals a day!! Should I eat more. I get about 2000 Cals a day.

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  2 роки тому

      Wow congrats!! Without fully knowing what you're eating, you may want to take a look at your meals further. I know that now that carnivore has gotten more popular, there are some slightly refined carnivore "treats" that are still highly processed and can be more hyper-palatable as a result. But otherwise, rather than dropping your intake, looking into strength training can be an incredibly useful tool.

  • @finagill

    I know you said why you don't feel longer fasts are a good thing because it is hard to get enough nutrients. If you do a 3 day fast and make sure you get your nutrients during the other 4 days, do you still feel that would lead to problems? I know some people say that nutrients for a given day is not critical but haven't seen a time frame where it is important to get all of your nutrients. Maybe every week or every month would prevent the issues.

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  2 роки тому +1

      Theoretically, day to day it's not *as* important. But practically speaking, it's nearly impossible to fit all of the amino acids/protein needed from multiple days of not eating into the remainder days, purely because protein is so incredibly satiating.

    The problem is the sleep. I have a 15 month old and I am breastfeeding. I am almost at day 7 but 2 days now I haven't slept.....will my sleep return when I get used to it or I have to stop fasting ?

      Of course😊

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  2 роки тому +1

      Correct! Although this isn't necessarily specifically referring to hitting protein goals. It's a term used in scientific literature to mean essentially "eating as much as you want". It can refer to ad libitum protein, carbs, fat, etc. Just depends on what it's referring to. For example, there are also "Ad libitum" Intermittent Fasting studies, where participants can eat as much as they want, just during the smaller eating window.

    Is ACV still affective if I mix it in a mixture of electrolytes, water and lemon?

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  2 роки тому +2

      There's no studies *specifically* on that combination that I'm aware of, but I don't see why that combination wouldn't have the same (or similar) effect as regular diluted ACV.

    I’ve been doing IF since the beginning of March. I hit my weight goal at the end of May. I’ve continued eating well with lots of proteins and exercising but I still feel “soft” and can’t seem to gain muscle. What do I need to do?

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  2 роки тому +1

      Congrats on hitting your weight goal! With the next wellness goal being muscle gain, you may want to take a closer look at your exercise routine to ensure it's truly promoting muscle gain. For example, using weights that are challenging and with the proper frequency to achieve a muscle mass goal. And, of course, making sure that there's adequate protein to recover from those workouts.

    If you don’t use sugar or stevia what do you use? Monk fruit?

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  2 роки тому +2

      I personally prefer monk fruit! Stevia isn't a bad option either, I just really don't like the taste.

    • @AutumnBates

      For some people, a banana is totally fine! For those who are carb sensitive or have insulin resistance, a banana might be too sugary for them *right now*. It's about working with where the body's at!
