  • Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is one of the greatest pieces of art I have ever laid my eyes on. From the animation to the stylistic expressions, visual tones, music, artistry, imagination, and storytelling on display, there has never been a movie like this ever created. It is truly a work of absolute art. I needed to rant about it.
Marvel has created one of the greatest things in human history.

Ever since I watched this film it has been in my mind constantly replaying scenes, the soundtrack just being on repeat on my pc, just going online looking up the ending credits and just continuously being at awe at how humans made this project. From the opening scenes introducing Gwen, the battle with Vulture, there was just so much going on and I got so emotionally even before we got the title card. How Sony and Marvel let people tell and show their love to Spider-man and more importantly the concept of what it means to be Spider-man. I watched a lot of videos on Across the Spider-Verse and no video has been able to convey my emotions like this video. It feels like you went inside my brain and extracted all of my thoughts on this piece of art. This video truly is an amazing love letter and I'm so happy I got recommended this video. Thank you for this.

@@yesouioo Yeah that’s pretty much it. Most characters we see, especially in their youth, have to learn to accept themselves and grow in spite of their poor upbringing or disadvantages and it’s easy for audiences to get behind a character that deals with that. However, there’s a good number of people who’ve actually grown up in a positive environment with loving families that support them. Miles comes from that kind of upbringing and it’s refreshing to see. Not all people come from extreme disadvantage and that’s ok. It’s kind of what the whole spider society concept is about: Spider-Man doesn’t have to be born out of tragedy.

I'm generally enjoying how the movie seems to be challenging the idea of "Spiderman needs to be a tragic martyr"; given most of those who make that claim often miss key point. Spideys life has tragic moments, yes. They suffer losses, but bluntly so does everyone. Its not those losses in of themselves that make most Spidey's lives tragic, but rather their traditionally terrible ability to process those losses instead. As you said, they "endure", they "cope" ... they don't "process". And whenever they allow that trauma too much control over their choices, it often is what leads them to such misery & tragedy. Especially with the destruction of their personal lives. With even the first movie showing this in how Peter B allowed his fear of losing kids to prevent him from ever having one; destroying his marriage. While Gwen's "not doing friends", closing herself off for fear of new pain after her Peter passed. With Miles' influence especially on them allowing them to change and improve those lonely martyr fates.
Frankly, Miguel seems to be another variant of this. Forget holding the Multiverse together, the guy seems to barely holding himself together. With Fatalism and Responsibility being the crutches he seems to be using to just keep himself "enduring" after SO much loss, grief, guilt & tragedy. With his Spider Society kinda reflecting that mindset. This is a Miguel who was already is such a shit state that he tried to pull a ITSV Kingpin. And now we're dealing with that Miguel post the apparent horrific consequences of that. You don't turn a 15 year old kid into a projection target and scapegoat if you're doing "allright", and this Miguel seems like so close to a breaking point of his endurance its truly sad. Which is why he so desperately needs all his suffering and sacrifice to "mean something"; and "be a requirement for Spiderman". With everyone in that intervention room echoing that. With all of them accrediting just the worst parts of their lives for all the Good they've done.

@@Gamfluenthat's kind of the point of the movie: both sides of the argument have weight.
Miguel and the other Spiders are right in that being Spider-Man is a sacrifice, often cripplingly so. Miles isn't a victim of circumstance anymore, he stepped into the role of Spider-Man willingly whenever he gets out of bed and puts on the mask. And that with that choice, comes consequences- the good, the bad and the very bad.
But Miles also has a point- Spider-Man has a responsibility to try. To not be crippled by their fear of things going wrong if they make a mistake preventing them from doing what is right. It's through him that the writers are asking "Does Spider-Man HAVE to be defined by his tragedies?"
"Does Spider-Man have to suffer to be a good person?"
Miles says no, Miguel and the others say yes.
And that's what makes the film so good. It's divisive because you can argue for both points with equal measure cause both sides have valid arguments as to why they exist.

I'm surprised I haven't seen much people talk about Spider-Byte's relationship with Miles.
It's established through quick scene that Spider-Byte is using the Spider Society stuff as an escape from the toxicicity in her household. You can hear her parents arguing in the background, and she even says "here is better".
Just from that alone, we know she's there to run away from her problems, similar to Gwen in that regard.
But then we have Miles, a Spider-Man that's so desperate to get home and to save his family. That must have cut rather deep for Spider-Byte. And Gwen realizes this too when she tells Miles' parents just how much Miles loves them.
Man the subtle yet efficient characterization for the characters in this movie is so freaking amazing I love it

I'm surprised to you didn't connect the real life conflict of a portion of the fandom themselves not accepting Miles Morales, long having considered him an unnecessary fraud of a Spider-man trying to usurp Peter's story. "Miles Morales is a mistake", "Miles shouldn't exist", "Miles Morales is a fake Spider-man" etc. These are all phrases levied against Miles since his inception, and they sat and brilliant chose to embed this meta into Miles Morales' origin story, into his growth and development. @@SpacemanSR Something to keep in mind, though, is such comments were being made during a period where a lot of superheroes were more or less being replaced by more "diverse" variants. Characters like Iron Heart and Jane Foster replacing Thor come to mind immediately. Ways to pander to a new demographic based on ethnicity or sex rather than character. Miles was sprinkled in among these, and a lot of fans saw it as another "diversity" change. "Let's make Spider-Man black for no other reason to have a black Spider-Man." That doesn't make a good story OR character. However, the writing behind the character was good enough that most people who initially doubted the quality behind Miles can now agree that he's a good character, and stands out enough from Peter Parker while also respecting the classic Spider-Man.
A good counterpoint is Riri Williams. Her debut comic painted her as a psychopath, and the quality of writing for her stories and character haven't endeared her to anyone as a suitable replacement to Iron Man. She's a token, and nothing more. Miles' stories and writing managed to pull him above that.

Usually when I watch a good movie, I’ll obsess for a couple of days and then eventually move on. However, almost 2 weeks after seeing it, I’m still in love and cannot let go of this obsession, this feeling of excitement for a sequel is something no other film has ever made me feel before. This movie is beyond exceptional, and is the perfect representation of what a movie can be. This movie gives the perfect example of how to make lovable characters, like Hobie Brown, Spider-Punk, for example. Out of every character in this film, I had this assumption he’d be the least important in the film, and that he’d be this punk “poser” of sorts rather than a really cool dude. But instead, he is probably the most important Spider-Man to Miles’ character growth and to the plot of this entire movie. I mean, he knew Miles for less time than Gwen Stacy and even Peter B. Parker, and he still did SO much more for Miles than either of them combined. He looked out for him throughout the entire film, he tried convincing him against joining the Spider Society to protect him, and he helped him escape the cage they placed him in towards the end of the film. He is the reason a sequel is even possible, since he stole parts from Miguel and then crafted a makeshift watch for Gwen in the assumption that things would go wrong. And don’t even get me started on Indian Spider-Man (I don’t know how to spell his actual name). The trailer made him seem like he’d be this annoyingly arrogant Spider-Man character, but the movie made him an absolutely amazing character with some of the funniest lines in the movie (such as his frustration about people saying Chai Tea). Characters aside, this movie also has beautiful foreshadowing. In one of the Spot’s backstory scenes, we can briefly see the spider of earth-42 preparing to bite Miles G. Morales (Miles of earth-42) before it got sucked up into the portal that resulted in our Miles Morales being bit in the first film. The way this movie connects to the first film in so many brilliantly written ways is just mind blowing. I mean when the first film released who would’ve guessed (or even theorized) that the guy Miles threw a bagel at while escaping from the Alchemex laboratory would turn out to be the multiversal threat known as the Spot four-and-a-half years later. Personally, I thought it was thrown in with the onomatopoeia “bagel” effect as a funny joke when I first watched the first film, not as an incredibly subtle but genius method of foreshadowing, and I’m certain that I’m not the only one who thought this back then. All of these and many other reasons that would take me ages to type out in detail here are what make this film (and could make any film) amazing. This masterpiece of a film has me in a powerful chokehold, and I, for one, don’t want it to let go.

That was truly beautiful. For me, It's not that I can't believe how humans made this, but the fact that they were ABLE to! There's so much potential for groundbreaking stories like this, but it always feels like it's squashed by the uncertainty of doing something different, or the difficulty of execution. When I look at concept art / story pitches, I often feel that those original ideas would have made for a much more exciting final product, and across the spiderverse feels like they took the best parts of those concepts, put them all together, made them cohesive, then ramped it up to 1000! I still find it hard to comprehend that this movie exists just because it feels too good to be real! I have never been so engrossed in every way in a movie before, it was truly an incredible first time watch, and I plan to watch it again MANY times over.
I find that my anxious brain has been trying to make me enjoy the movie less due to just how much I DID enjoy it, and it attempts to nitpick about small details of the movie to try and knock it down a peg just because like I said, it feels too good to be real. Despite that though, my utter adoration for this movie still pursues, and it has such a big positive emotional effect on me.
Across the Spiderverse is truly the pinnacle of art. Acting, Illustration, animation, music, storytelling, EVERYTHING! As I said to myself after watching the movie "The only thing that can best a Spiderverse movie, is a Spiderverse movie."

I’m still in shock honestly. ITSV was perfect, a masterpiece. And I knew going in that ATSV was going to be one too, the chittering I heard about it before I saw it not surprising in the least. I went in with such high expectations for this movie and. . . It still utterly shocked me by how good it was. Flabbergasted, and flabbergasted that I’m flabbergasted. How in the shit am I gonna survive the next few years until the finale?
(And yes, as much as I’d love to see it next year, the production need to sort themselves out, treat their artists properly and take their time crafting the final part. I believe in BTSV’s potential to BE the greatest end of the most masterful trilogy of all time; they just had better give it the time and attention it needs and deserves to fully actualise it. Fingers crossed).

Thank you for making this. Every time I spoke to someone about this movie, they loved it, but they never shared the same enthusiasm/obsession as I did. An unbelievable amount of thought went into every single minuscule detail of this movie, there’s probably a million things that people haven’t even noticed yet.
It really was an experience, it had me present and feeling EVERYTHING throughout. I've seen it 3 times and I'm planning to go again. A few of my favourite things about this movie is Spot's development from dorky to absolutely terrifying (I LOVE how scary they made him and I loved how “messy” the animation seemed as he entered the collider), the dripping of the background in Gwens universe during the scenes with her father, everything about the Vulture fight scene, Hobies animation being a testament to his character (and they freakin animated him in 3rds!!!!), Spot and Miguels voice acting!!!! and just Spot and Miguel as is. There's so much more but I'd just be describing the whole movie.
Anyway, it was just nice to hear someone talk with passion about this movie. You were 100% right when you said "The more you think about it, the better it gets".

The only bad thing i left the theater with after seeing this movie was a headache. a headache from the visuals that are so real and vibrant and alive, a headache from the soundtrack's suspense and freedom, a headache from how hard and how long it made me sit and think about my place in the vastness of this universe. i got a headache because of this movie's throbbing, mind-bending resonance in my ears and eyes. i got that headache because of how incomprehensibly _beautiful,_ in every way, this movie is. i could not, and likely never will fathom its pure and unfiltered perfection.

Could not agree more with this analysis - I saw this a few days ago and it's all I can think about! I loved Into The Spider-Verse so much that I was convinced that there was no way this movie could top it but it went above and beyond what I even conceived was possible. This movie was a love letter to all of those movie fans out there who want to sink their teeth into something amazing but just get keep hit with films that clearly are low effort, unnecessary, and gimmicky.
I'm getting ahead of myself but the message in this movie has me worried for what appears to be the inevitable tragedy in the final part of this trilogy. I do not believe that Miguel is 100% correct in his theory in the sense that a universe in which canon events are disrupted must collapse, but I believe there must be some kind of equivalent exchange. It's not about the fact that Spider-beings are *forced* to have trauma in their lives, but it's about the simple fact that you can't save everyone. Miles's universe will remain intact, and his dad will not die. But someone else will, and my suspicion is it will be Gwen. I don't want it to be true but this series knows what it's doing to a T and this would make the most sense. Gwen will help save Jefferson/Miles's dimension and die in the process, simultaneously disproving Miguel's theory and proving that Gwen Stacy x Spider-Man never ends well.
That being said, I look forward to being proved wrong because all of these characters are amazing and I don't want to see them die. Also as much as I want to see the third film, I hope they take a step back and treat their staff right amidst all this news. I would rather see an incredible film in 3-4 years than have it rushed out in a year on the backs of animators who are worked to the bone. Just my view

I was so afraid that this movie could not stand up to the brilliance that the first movie displayed. By all accounts the process to create this movie was messy and chaotic and ended in a frantic sprint to it's release date. So far I've only seen it once on it's release weekend. 20 minutes into the movie, I turned to my wife and whispered that this movie was a masterpiece. And that was only my impression of it's way of using artistry in the background. It was challenging to keep up with the details in the best possible way. It's beats and pacing and flow pulled you in and kept the audience involved, even when it was moving so fast everyone should get lost. I only look forward to a second, third, fifth viewing to absorb more of the details and callbacks and easter eggs. The term cinema has been debated and abused lately, but this is Cinema. This is pushing the art of not only animation, but movies in general. My only hope at this point is that the third movie can stick the landing like Gwen Stacy in ballet shoes.

It doesn't matter if there was something about the Spider-Verse they didn't like or if they were sold-out fans, the consensus was clear; Spider-Verse changed CG animation in the same vein that Toy Story did.
While I don't think animated movies as a whole are going to start looking more like Spider-Verse, I do think Sony Animations attitude of big swings and creative leaps of faith at new ideas has absolutely perforated across the entire industry, and there's never been a more promising time to be in animation since John Lasseter and Brad Bird paved the way with Pixar in the 2000's.

But i dont think the movie was as great as you say, It has a lot of achievements but i wouldn't agree its a masterpiece but i think this is one of the best movies of the last decade. I had my gripes, and I think the movie appeals best to viewers that aren't engrossed in the source materials, people who just have a cursory knowledge of Spider-Man's history, and probably only play the games for additional Spider-Man outside of the movies... I gotta give credit to movie that took 4 years to animate one scene. The crew involved seem to really like Spider-Man and Sony must really believe in this series of movies to allow that sort of investment. Anyway nice video, its nice change of pace to hear unbridled positivity... on the internet of all places

I have never had a youtube made my eye tear up. I have also never met a person that tells a story like you do. You tell a whole new story by telling someone elsels story. You make it yours in such a unique way and I have never watched an analysis with the dept and love you tell your stories with. And the music holy shit, the way it synchronises with your voice and the plot and the way you are speaking. its insane, that you can write such a script and edit such a video. And the vocabulary you use to express yourself, it makes me jealous, if i can ever express my opinion in such a way. I can finally finish my novel xD. I would kill to get acces to this spotify playlist. Thank you for your addition to the spiderverse, your dedication as a fan has made the 2 already amazing movies even better.

There are so many reasons I had to subscribe! Perfectly executed explanation of how good this movie was, the attention to detail and the actual passion put behind every word when recounting parts of this movie, The fact that you're a member of the Rob corps, everything!

An ultimate story for an Ultimate Spiderman...bravo. Saw this movie with my family and we loved it. Spidey has always been my favorite superhero. The nerdy guy that quips, fights, loses, and gets back up...like you, I love this vision...and to think...this is STILL his origin story... This is already the best spider ANYTHING I've ever experienced as well and we have not yet added a Venom, a true conflict with any of his main villains...a love triangle with....i dunno (a black cat version of Mary Jane!?!?! Imagine).....It really is nuts how they got this so right...but when people truly love something it shows.

Into the Spider-verse will always be the best Spider-man story, but the sequel is a close second

i absolutely love your enthusiasm for this movie, none of my friends have been as hype as i have for this movie and it makes me sad. to see the love this movie is getting from the internet, feels so good and rewarding.
i dont wanna be one of those people but im gonna be one of those people. i was there when i saw the very first trailer for into the spiderverse back in 2017 or maybe earlier, and i was so hyped for the movie JUST by the trailer, and now that it has a sequel that i think could be even better than the first, just makes this so much better
i really love this movie and for me, it is literally a 50/10 but, the first movie, into the spiderverse, has a special place in my heart, i saw it with my dad and we've now made it our thing to go and see the new spiderverse movies when they come out. so it feels very special and to watch miles grow, not only in age, but also as a character, feels like an honor.
(P.S u got a new subscriber mate, love ur love for this movie, keep it up)

I think the movies fixed a lot of problems with Miles, so now he feels like a fully developed character. He's not a copycat. He's inspired, but doing things his own way. Really enjoyed how they improved the character.

It's really freaking hard not to respect Miles as a character when he manages to have such a giant influence on a fully grown Peter B Parker. Like within a few days of meeting, Miles made this man to rekindle his marriage and start a family lmao.

@@ohishwaddup Yes, this movie made Miles a fast favorite for me. Also, Peter B Parker is my favorite movie version of the character. It nails the spirit of Peter Parker from the comics.

For me Spot is actually the best villain like... ever? He got those powers and as I heard he tried to be a hero but he failed, so he tried being a villain, Miles nemesis. Just think about how good of a hero he would've been and I believe Miles knows that, just as he accepted himself and decides to do his own thing, Spot could have been so much more if he just didn't gave up, all because what other people said and who knows, maybe that's gonna be the climax of the second part

I cant describe in words how much I love this movie, seen it twice, plan to go a lot more. Its inspired me to start doing alot of art based on it and actually start learning digital art again. Its a perfect movie and I wish i was part of the creative team or even one of the characters in it.
